It's just normal thing to happen. XZ users are happy because that was never expected to happen
TapaTalked from my Xperia™ Z (C660²) running Dirty Unicorns ROM!
I'm waiting for SP users to infiltrate and say how Sony will lie to us!
I've only just got 4.4.4, I can't bear another wait for 5.0, sigh.

The bad is it's supposed to be the newest flagship first.
Our good old Z (L & R) will be delivered later 2015 (if it happen).
A thread already exists for this http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/sony-xperia-z-getting-android-5-0-t2908052 please use it instead. Thanks

Of course its coming...
Beginning of 2015.
What is this update going to bring other than a flashy new look.. Nothing really.
I want a cigarette lighter and instant coffee maker added to an update then I would be excited.
Give me root on locked bootloader over lollipop all day long.

Actually the update brings a slew of changes under the hood that makes it easier for developers and improves performance. Most people just focus on the material design part.

At least this issue should be solved with Lollipop
Android 5.0 Lollipop changes the way your SD card works
For example Dalvik being replaced by ART which should considerably improve performance

I am pretty sure we will get lollipop in january after CES. That is the reason im not going to downgrade back to the old firmware...even if battery is suffering some. Lollipop should fix much of that
Lollipop lollipop....oh lolli lolli lolli, lollipop lollipop.....oh lolli lolli lolli...

Exactly, I've actually checked out Android 5.0.2 on a Nexus 7 and what can I say... boring. Nothing really new, just this new flat look, that's about it. What I did see, however, are again more restrictions for the users calling for root.

Almost no one is rooting the Z3C anyway since you lose all the great features. I love rooting and having higher control over my device but it is becoming less and less needed. I am really loving lollipop on my LG G Pad 8.3

I think and hope lollipop will give me the rights to write to my SDcard with 3rd party apps. A big improvement over KitKat!
Hope that Lolipop can make me to use the ZArchiver.

Sony/E6853/E6853:6.0/32.1.A.0.X
Only a minor version change.
Do you mean Sony is testing Android 6.0 beta on Z5 series? If so, could you tell me how to get it?

Sony has 6.0 test builds already, operators should be getting them for acceptance tests.
I'm not personally testing them since I'm "stuck" with retails devices at the moment and no sorry I can't tell you how to get it.
I see. So do you think we will get "concept" version of 6.0 just like Z3 and Z3C soon?
I'm receiving an update now...don't know what it is yet!
Z5C was on 6.152 and as of yesterday is now on 6.200
My Z5P on 6.170, so the new update might be 6.200, putting everyone on the same version.

Check Sony's developer's website for instructions on how to unlock your BL and flash AOSP 6.0. I would just wait though. It's rumored to be officially released OTA in a month or two. Then you wouldn't need to lose your DRM keys.

I can see the binaries, is there an actual build that is flashable? I haven't seen one yet for my Z5P. I have 6.0 on another phone and would love to see a working build for this one. If you can point me toward the download, i would appreciate it.

I think Sony may hold off and move to a once yearly now. There have been no substantial Z6 leaks and we usually see something within a month before MWC.

Huh? How do you come to that conclusion?
I guess the update will be with us either this month or next month. Either way we get it soon. The phone works fine ATM so there's no rush.
At this stage every year we usually see a leak of sufficient substance to show a phone will be released. So far nothing. All the leaks are just rumours.
Also at the start of last year Sony was asked whether they were going to move to yearly.... They said 'not yet' (the Z3+ then came out.)
If anything, the Z6 will be the same as the Z5 lineup with a change of SoC. Design change will be later in the year.
Any news? Does we get MM before or after MWC?
真的吗really?

Well, for sure it's overpriced... the screen is not worth it and coming from a ZU I also struggled at first with the size. Afrer a while you realize that it's actually a really nice phone, but still overpriced
On the plus side, with a good quality "wired" headphones you have superb music experience, incredible! The camera is apparently very good as well but I'm not the selfie type :silly:
The only sw I miss is stamina, if they bring that back in I will be quite happy having spent a considerable amount on this handset

I find it extremely unlikely there'll be an update anytime soon for nougat, and especially O. I'm thinking about porting a rom to my f3111. If someone can lead me to an O rom for a similar device, that'd be helpful!

Haha yeah fair. Haven't checked what the differences are yet. Anyone know? I've ported a few ROMs for my old Moto G (falcon), which now has many nougat builds available for it! Just wish more development was done for Sonys.
As announced by Google on revealing the version name, named "Oreo", its also listed that XA will get an update for it.

Lol and where did you get that from? Sony hasn't said anything regarding Oreo AFAIK.
I'm pretty sure the XA is done now that it has gotten 7.0, even 7.1 is unlikely in my opinion but it is a great phone nonetheless.
I dont think will get android 8.

I know how it works. Sites like that do it with purpose (more people will see it and share with their friends and they get more visitors to their site). I had Xperia E3 where some sites said the same for that phone when MM was released and guess what? E3 is still on KK 4.4.4.
You can't trust all these sites, they're just tech geeks typing what they think or have been incorrectly told. Sony hasn't said anything for any devices yet, though I am certain XA will be left on 7.0 which is fair considering it is a mid-low end phone. When I had the Xperia SP some site said we'd still be getting 4.4 when Sony went back on their word but that never happened and it was ditched on a buggy 4.3.
Well It's confirmed NO Android O for XA (https://blogs.sonymobile.com/2017/08/31/xperia-android-8-0-oreo/) :|
