this keeps appearing (randomly) when i pull my phone out of my pocket. not sure why or what it is so i don't know how to make it stop happening. it's not my lock screen... it's all fuzzy and i cant interact with it in any way. have to use power button to wake when this appears.
thanks!

There is new option of lock screen. When you turn the screen on by pressing power button swipe your screen to left. This should open additional wallpaper settings. It's called dynamic lock screen. Check maybe this will help.

I am on Android 9 and have this feature as well.
I have S9+ and on beta Android 10. I did not had this on Android 9.

You're correct, it's dynamic lock screen.
You'll get this screen when you turn on the screen and tap the clock. I think that this accidentally happens in your pocket.
Agree, but you should have back button on the bottom of the screen. There is nothing on the screenshot that was uploaded.

If you use gestures you can swipe to go back.
It's an old feature (Since the Note8). You might've accidentally tapped the lockscreen clock. I'm on my S10+ (Pie) and can do this.
I had it even on my S7 edge I think. It is not the dynamic lock screen imho but when you tap the clock on the lock screen it shows you clock + seconds.
I would rather have a clock with digital seconds on the lock screen all the time as seeing seconds after tapping on the clock.

Ok now i want to use this thread to have a discussion about what should be improved for the galaxy s III users by the software side.
I say
Quality audio in the video recording
Brightness
LED Rgb(colored)
Audio (on listening) with Noise-OFF option ON in the call settings
Scrolling Live/Static Wallpaper UI doesn't change
Anything else?

Reports say that the 'double tap' the top to scroll back up the contacts list...only works on the contacts list. So, hopefully...our devs can make it universal on any screen that needs to be scrolled. Also, maybe a 'double tap on the bottom' as well. (maybe the double tap on the bottom can take us back to the previous screen position)

A way to swap the menu and recent apps key assignments. I'd rather do the left key for recent apps and hold the home key for menu. Also stock ICS theme with all Touchwiz features
- Reduce home button delay - edit: just found out you can decrease delay by going into s-voice settings and disabling double click home shortcut.
- Improve lock screen wake up speed
- 5 instead of 4 lock screen shortcuts (e.g. i'd like to be able to have phone, messaging, email, internet, camera)
- scrolling wallpaper would be cute
- prevent flashing white notification led when phone is charged? or was it for something else? This actually woke me up last night and wouldnt stop until i pulled the power cable.
- ability to swap icons around on the launcher when the grid is full. Is it just me, am I being stupid? because when a launcher page is full, I can't move icons around anymore. I can move icons into folders, but when I drag an icon over another one, they refuse to swap places. Is this normal touchwiz behaviour? if it is, it's going to make organising my home screen severely annoying!
I'm such a dork, I got super excited that someone besides me said scrolling wallpaper. lol

That white LED woke me up too, its way too bright.
I solved most of the other problems by installing NOVA launcher though, phone wake up is instant, home button twice as fast (but generally still slow) and no issues with full icon grids

Yeh, a flashing bright white led is a strange choice. A dim green one would have made more sense.
Might try another launcher then. Do apex and nova have lock screen shortcuts?

NOVA uses the touchwiz lockscreen from what i can tell, so shortcuts are there.
I have actually removed the lockscreen entirely, the phone wakes up much faster.
As for security, I use an app that uses face unlock only when you try to get to settings, play store or any other app you choose. This way I can access my phone quickly for usual things but have the security where i need it.
I'd quite like the ability the rearrange the controls in the notification menu.

What can be improved:
- Get rid of the horrible sharpening that creates ugly halos around text on non white backgrounds. (it is software as using power-save L1 in browser eliminates the sharpening)
- Remove a little of the pink tint in color temperature
- Reduce the millions of always running (unquitable) services running to a minimum so that home screen restarts and browser out of memory are less of an issue.
- Make the home launcher system persistent
- Remove the unnecessary animations that slows down the speed of waking up the screen and returning to home screen.
- In browser add ability to access tabs and url bar by tapping menu when in full screen mode.
- Add text reflow to browser similar to htc. The default fit to screen option butchers the look of the webpage overview.
- Add the option to choose between LQ, HQ or HD in youtube app.
Hey all.
Does anybody have any idea how you change/remove widgets from the lock screen?
I'm using knock knock code, I have the large clock in the top half but wanted to change it to a calendar.
I can't for the life of me work out how your do this!
Anybody got any idea?
Thanks.

Swipe the clock widget to the right, then swipe back to the clock/unlock screen. Then you will be able to long-press on the clock and remove it. Then you'll see 'tap to add widgets' and you can choose the calendar.
Yeah, Ive tried that, It just does this lol.
Try it without Knock Code (with swipe).
Yip, Tried that ... Same thing ..
Trying to work out what the arrow at the bottom is for, it dont see to do anything.
I never even used to have the knock knock cope option, I updated my phone via the support tool, I have the knock know code but cant change the lock screen widget. I mean even when im on the lock screen i used to be able to swipe right to start the camera and now i cant even do that.
I'm thinking something has been changed in the update, Can anybody on the same build as me confirm they can still swipe from the lock screen to start the camera app and change lock screen widgets? ... Its definitely different than before.
Try using swipe lock screen and lock your device. Then wake the device. Swipe down on the clock. Then press and hold the widget. You should then have the ability to remove it. If you have no other lock screen widget, you will end up with a huge + giving you the option to add another widget. If this doesn't work (it should), reboot and try again.

It wont budge, Before if i had a pin code at the lock screen set i could just swipe the pin code area down, It then ask me for my pin, I could then long press the clock and a option to "remove" would be at the top of my screen, When the widget area was blank i would see a large + sigh, I could tap this and be given a number of widgets i could put there!
The clock just wont budge now no matter what i try!
Same Deal Here
Ever since the update, it seems I can't remove the default clock widget either. Swiping down does bring up the arrow (just as it used to) but it won't stay on long enough to long press the clock (as soon as you take your finger off it goes back to normal). I'm going to do some experimenting with WidgetLocker, see if I can't get it back to where I want it (obviously figuring this out would be ideal, but I'm starting to wonder if it's possible anymore. I've seen articles about enabling widgets, but haven't found what they're telling me to look for).
Edit: Got it figured out. It turns out I had somehow turned off the lockscreen widgets & disabled the feature through Secure Settings.

Don't know if you've been back to this thread but changing Secure Settings settings worked for me.
I was just wondering if the screen off gestures on the Oneplus One were based on hardware or software? In other words, is there any chance of them coming to this phone with a custom rom? I miss drawing sideways triangles without having to look at my phone while driving to change the music. About the only thing I miss from that phone in upgrading to this really.
Also, anyone else by chance have the Google play store crashing every once in a while?
Many of the third party launchers support gestures. I am using Apex and Screen Lock Pro (which supports Marshmallow/Imprint) to lock my screen when I double-tap the home screen and go to Google Now when I swipe up.

Ah. I never had an OPO. I thought he meant gestures to turn the screen off, not gestures used while the screen is off.
I won't try to be helpful next time!

You should always try to be helpful, at least you tried.
ElementalX kernel allows single swipes in four directions and double tap off screen gestures. It's pretty cool. No customizable gestures though (such as drawing arrows or an 'S', etc).

Is there any way show the notification panel by swiping from the bottom of the screen instead of the top(default)?
basically is there anything that will allow me to view the expanded notification panel without having to pull down from the status bar?

Nah but upgrading from a galaxy s4 that has been on 4.4 for 3 years(custom rom) With the new galaxy, its harder to reach the status bar when using one hand.
I agree with you with this one... The navigation bar is a bit of a pain to reach, Although pinning apps to edge bar seems to work OK for me.

then use the one hand operation to make it easier. that's what it is there for. tap the home button three times. that will make the screen smaller, and easy for one hand operation. if you don't have it setup, then go into settings, and advanced settings.
You should try the notification edge panel I bought it straight away then i realised I could of bought the edge notification panel from playstore with the reward app I had.
No way to move the notification pull down itself, but using Nova Launcher Prime (the pay version), you can set up a screen gesture to open the notification shade. You can assign to a downward swipe (starting anywhere on the screen), or a double tap, or other options. Unfortunately, I think this only works from the home page, not from within another app.

I've been using this for years. Still not the same as having a smaller phone though.
Swipe down for notifications, swipe up to sleep.

I should have posted an update but found a work around.
Using All In One Gestures app, I can swipe up from the home button and it will expand the notification panel. This works in any app unlike the Nova option.
Hi, you can use fooView, it allows to expand notification just pulling down the floating icon down, and other actions like back, home, recent, etc. with just one hand.

My notification bar is always dropping down (sometimes intermittently) when I am using the Samsung S8 without me having to pull it down or receiving notifications. It is becoming quite annoying because every few seconds I have to drag it back up so that I am able to use the phone. Has someone else encountered the same issue?

That dot from the far left it is for the navigation bar. I was referring to the notification bar, the one at the top of the screen. Also every now and then the apps edge blinks intermittently and it coincides with the notification bar drop.

Yes I do, but the issues started before adding the screen protector. I took it down and still it persists
The problem was solved. If you ask me what caused the issue I have no ideea. All I can do is describe the exact steps I took.
1. I took of the screen protector just in case it was causing the issue
2. I restored the phone to factory settings
3. After that I didn't install any apps and didn't intstall any backups, no passwords, no face recognition, no pin, I omited all of the steps.
It seemed to have worked flawlessly I have no idea why and what was actually casing the issue with the notification bar. One day has passed so far and no notification bar issue so far.
I hope it's gonna stay this way
