Safaty net fail fix? - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

I need to get safety net to pass so I can get google pay working. Any idea on how to get it fix and working. I am on international rom, but the phone is a tmobile one. I am not rooted or have a bootloader unlocked.

Ironically, to fix Saftey Net, Unlock Your Bootloader, Root your phone and then use Saftey Patch Magisk Module. Or if you don't wanna do that, then wait for an Update.

That is something I don't want to do. Am not comfortable doing it. The issue was everything was working fine before I updated to 10 and now it is not.

It's a known issue on 10 that safetynet doesn't pass. I had to root mine and patch it with magsik. Once done everything is good. The next update hopefully will fix it.

Do you recommend an easy step by step guide on how to unlock, root and then apply magisk patch?
Thank you in advance.

Today's update didn't fix it either. OnePlus is really dropping the ball these days. I'm pretty disappointed.

This seems to be not related to OP - it is now a TMobile issue. We will need to wait till TMobile will release A10 and certify it for their phones. Then it should magically start working for our converted devices.

I get what you mean, but I think that this is a problem with oneplus because there is lots of treads that talk about the 6 failing the test and not allowing google pay to work.

Sounds about right...Last time I get a phone from T-Mobile. I wanted to get the 7T Pro McLaren Edition but it seems it will only be available through T-Mobile and not from OnePlus. Guess I'll wait and see what they offer with the 8 series. If OP handles the 8's like they did the 7's I might have to move on. Plus they seem to have forgotten about this phone on their own site as far as software...The downloads are still Pie.

Well, technically speaking yes. I am not sure how certification works - is it just image fingerprint (OS) or it is device ID + OS fingerprint.
But the fact is - TMObile converted phones are not certified by Google for A10, while the international OP6T are certified.
If anybody can explain how certification is works - please do. I always thought it is just an OS Fingerprint in build.prop , but it seems I was wrong.

i just installed that magisk module and ran the props through termux and changed my oneplus6t id to whatever is in the list for oneplus6t 10 and all is now well with CTS

if not rooted the way to pass would reset the phone in stock recovery or flash a fastboot rom of that version

Do you remember what ID you had before applying the magisk fix?
So I guess ID is generated when you install ROm based on hardware key and ROm fingerprint.

I looked around the program to try to back up my ID and i didn't see the option. so i figured it wasn't important. I just went through the list until i found the oneplus 6t 10 option and i typed yes and rebooted. and then CTS passed.

Previous chainfire supersu writes in the /system partion, specifically in /system/su directory. This makes some of the security conscience application to reject phones that has /system modified. The newer version of chainfire supersu relocate the files to /su directory, and can pass the security check provided the /su/xbin_bind symbolic link is removed.

Would that mean that previously failed apps which require a non rooted system to work? That's amazing if that's the case.

Yes. As long as you are on stock, android pay will work with systemless root. You just can't use xposed.

I mean like my work email, (good for enterprise) barclays, Lloyds. Great about android pay.
Is there a workaround for getting Xposed to work or something similar that offers some tweaks?
A tip for someone new to ROMS and flashing. If you use Google Authenticator, or any other authenticator app, like Blizzard Authenticator, or Steam Mobile Guard, make sure you deactivate it before you flash anything.

I've got the 6p mate wasn't that keen on the 5x
I decided as soon as I'd seen both that the 6p was for me but I was unsure with the camera bump

How easy is rooting?
Bootloader, recovery, SU, for some reason i get a flag on boot, apparently i didn't decrypt my data partition? Do i need to do that?

DP5 beta

My simple question is going from marshmallow to the developer preview 5, currently I am at work and cannot backup my data I am full stock, so does the ota for the beta wipe my data?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app
No it doesn't. Well, at least the other builds didn't.
For some reason, my phone won't grab dp5. It says I'm up to date. Anyone else have this issue?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app
I'm in the same situation: my Nexus 6P doesn't seem to find the update.
On the developper preview page, it says it might take 24hrs to get it, but we're past that now.
I guess I'll just have to be patient!
I downloaded the ota zip file from the internet and just flashed it. Something interesting is happening. The Clock app is there but it isn't. I can't actually open it, but when I try to install it from the Play Store (there is a green box allowing the download, it doesn't say "update" or "open" btw) it says it's unable to install. Downloading and installing the apk from the internet returns an error that says theres a package already on my phone with by the same name. Looking through the system apps and my own user apps, the clock app is nowhere to be found.
So that's an issue I'm having, but I clean installed dev preview 5, I didn't take an update or anything

for me I opted in for the beta and I got the DP5 beta straight away now im stuck with another issue went home from work to backup my data and now my windows 7 computer is not finding my device first it came up as unknown device no updates for driver. After uninstalling all relevant drivers my device is not being found at all with the mtp selected. I may have to reinstall the sdk and check if adb picks it up if so I may have to reconfigure my windows 7 drivers if not ill check on a netbook to see if my cable or my charger port is malfunctioning.
Still on marshmallow if any advice please feel free to reply
thank you
From what I read there are some issues with dp5 specifically for the 6p they are working on it. That is why we haven't gotten the OTA. I would not side load as you will have issues with it. If you did sidload I would go back to 4 or else opt out of the dev program and roll back to marshmallow and wait till the issue is fixed and opt back in to get dp5.

What issues are they having with dp5 should I flash it or wait untill I can backup my data or should I just scratch it and unroll for the beta? Because I need to backup my data first. Also the issue with it not connecting could be just a Driver issue so I'll have to double check it when I get home
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app
I don't know what the issues are I was reading a post about dp5 being available and in the comments section a few people were saying they didn't get it for the 6p and a few people said there was issues with it so that's why Google hasn't sent it out over the air yet. I think there is a way to delete the OTA you downloaded. Then just wait for it to come back when they send it out. Also if you got it right away it may actually be dp4 since dp5 is not over the air yet. Again I read this on the comment section of a post so how true it all is I do not know I was going to side load but before I did I wanted to know why it wasn't here yet and that's what I found out so I will just wait for it to come OTA. As for your USB problem maybe try reinstalling the Google drivers.

I just read that someone opted in after dp5 was out and they received dp4 so if you want to update you can you should get dp4 then when 5 is sent out you will get an update for that too. Dp4 is very stable I have been on it since it was out and have almost no problems whatsoever.

Yeah anyway tried two more computers with the drivers and no go it states unknown USB device, I may need a reset ill have to push my files using airdroid check the md5 hash and then push them over to see if there is no corruption. Maybe a factory reset might help that's gna be my first try after backing my data.

I am not having any issues that I can see. Battery life is a complaint but I have not had that issue either. If you flash beta 2 for the S8+ be prepared to do a factory reset.

You have to be on the listed firmware. Cannot be on anything but what they posted. I downloaded mine from updato just use Sprint XAS. It will reinstall Verizon bloat on first boot. Also install nougat and before rebooting it will take you to recover just install the Oreo beta then before setting up the device.
Does this by chance have wifi tethering unlocked in beta??
I wonder if there is a way to root the beta yet
Just to be clear, this has been tested on the Verizon G950U? Very cautious when dealing with Verizon Samsung devices that don't have unlocked bootloaders... Thanks in advance.
Yes I personally did beta 1 on my own device and successfully flashed back when I was done testing.
Beta 4 is now available. Buttery smooth and good battery life. Only glitch I am seeing if fast charging is hit or miss.

You have Orea beta 4 on Verizon? What is the build number? How did you do it? With the latest update I am now on bootloader 2 so I don't think you can do it like originally posted.
I believe you can still get to it. What update are you on with your phone? I was on I believe Verizon's latest and still flashed back to the OP then to AJC and then ZQKM.

Go into download mode and look at the bootloader line if it says B2. We might have to look into a different method.

Whaaa! That means that pretty soon we'll all be rolling in the bask of Oreo. Can't wait for the official update to roll out. [emoji2]

I installed the Oreo beta and don't like it. Want to go back to stable. I downloaded the original firmware AQH9 and have tried flashing in ODIN, but am getting a SHA256 failure error...
EDIT: Solved by using newer BQJA firmware to flash back to.
Oreo is running great! I didnt even have to use ODIN. (2) Update.zip(s) and a Factory Reset and i am good to go!
*edit*
BQJ1(N) to BQK2(N) Update.zip DOWNLOAD
and then
BQK2 to CQL1(Oreo) Update.zip DOWNLOAD

Samsung Connect seems to have a bug and Android webview keeps force closing but Oreo Beta seems pretty cool otherwise..

Some Substratum theme options weren't yet working. A few random force closes. Security Log agent messages from some apps. Lag in the notification shade when playing Spotify (so possibly any media). It's not like Oreo is a big upgrade, so I'm not in a rush to get it.

I just got this phone two days ago and have been away from the forums for over 2 years. Root is available for BQJA if I read correctly. Is that right? I just want root for substratum. Downloaded it from the Play Store and it's offering me to buy an add on for "supported Samsung"

You don't need root for Substratum. The $1.99 add-on does work and is probably required.

Been running this since yesterday. Only issue I've come across is that I can't allow unknown sources. Other than that it's ok so far. Truly nothing groundbreaking about it compared to the latest official update.

You can, but only by using the built in "my files" app.. Also go to settings>apps then tap the dots in the top right and tap special access and look at the bottom of the list. Do you see install unknown apps?
I hope they fix the theming issues, half of the icons get the stupid white border/frame. even when you turn off icon frames its stays. its the biggest reason why I switched back. This Beta is really stale this year. I have it on my s8 to and I'm not really impressed
Deleted, nvm. Lol

October? OCTOBER?!?!? AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! It looks almost like a joke. But I suppose this is the result of the delays. They had the codebase ready weeks ago, they needed to debug and they did not want to risk introducing new bugs, quite likely. Acceptable, overall.
Edit: and I'm not even getting it OTA yet. It's on the Updater app, though.
Anyone try this on the T-Mobile variant converted to international model yet? Does it give you the "Build Version does not match Hardware version" error?

Nope, those issues are not fixed on Open Beta 2, or Stable 10.0.1, OnePlus is really pissing me off, they've really dropped the ball these last few months.

Damn those where the most annoying things to fix in my opinion also I noticed the navigation gestures as on A9 didn't work as well too. So I'll keep waiting then...

Can you please check if your phone is Google Play Store certified? From what I understand it should not be as TMobile did not certify this phone for A10 yet.

Yeah, stupid, they have that beta on Nov, so if you try a local update it will fail due to older patch. Only TWRP flash worked for me.

Do you really think that 4 days after a Dec 1st security update from Android would make it to anybody's build a few days later?

Who said that? But November sure as hell should be there! And Samsung had theirs before the end of November for DECEMBER, and Essential had their December patch out the first day of December, which is before the Pixel 4 series, which still hasn't been released. Quit sticking up for OnePlus, when it's very clear they are screwing up lately.

Nope, still not certified on Stable 10.0.1, or Open Beta 2. SMH.

Thank you. I do not understand exactly how Google certification works (device serial numbers + os version !?). If anybody knows and can explain why just TMobile devices got such issues with Google play certification it will be great.

I have a question.
I have flashed that leaked android 10 via local upgrade from beta android 9 and it's working fine.
Is it possible to get the official android 10.0.1 on my oneplus 6t (TMO converted to international)

Well somebody around here said it worked but some of the issues are still there. Like the Google certification and others... So I wouldn't jump into the update just yet... I'll wait some time. I jumped when the "stable" 10.0.0 came out and regret it so I reverted back. So I'll just wait for now. I'm also a Tmo 6t converted. RightNow on 9.0.17

I'm on 10.0 and i already have October security.
Wifi doesn't turn on
I cannot get wifi to enable. I have reset my phone multiple times, even with msm tool, then upgraded to android 10. It works but after a few reboots, or until I've rooted with magisk, it stops, and I cannot enable it. Wondering if there is a solution to this?

For me, it just says that the installation failed when I try to do the local upgrade option. No information on why.
