Hi,
Ido have redmi 3S 2/16 gb and have the following problem.
Flash in Fastboot "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" finishes sucessful
Reboot " fastboot boot twrp.img" finishes sucessful
but phone takes about 30 sec. to reboot and boots into normal system operation
I have tried several times, no success.
I can flash the phone with Miflash, everything fine. at the moment there is MIUI Global V8.1.1.0 stable on it.
Updater App also does not work correct, whenever i select a .zip to update it requires internet connection to download, but ROM is on SD card.
Any hints from the community ?
You MUST unlock the bootloader if you want TWRP flash stick and be usable.

Bootloader is unlocked, otherwise i would not have posted in Forum but forgot to mention in my first post.
But i found a very interesting way to boot into TWRP.
1. i temporarely booted into cyanogen cwm
2. restarted into recovery in cwm
3. to my surprise it booted into my previous installed TWRP
4. i could install MIUI v8 .eu rom without problems
booted into system the phone is running nice, but i cannot boot into recovery by Keys Power+ Vol+ nor via updater app.
In always boots into running system.
unique case, i'm following this...
i wish i can help but i'm not that expert
hopefuly someone with enough experience can help or at least give some information.
thanks for sharing

I have exactly the same problem with my redmi 3S 2/16 gb. I can't start twrp in any way....i will try to do your way.
Try flasher toolkit: http://en.miui.com/thread-328569-1-1.html or material twrp: http://en.miui.com/thread-346365-1-1.html

I was having similar problems. Flashed twrp from fastboot but always got stock recovery. I used the flasher toolkit. PROFIT!
I tried everything but always stock recovery is back...
Annoying..

Hello ALL
In order to be sure to follow the same track is it possible for you to post your bootloader status as attached.
I have concern about the called "device critical unlock"
Thanks

Thanks for your info.
Flasher toolkit executes all the commands wich i tried already in batch file format, no luck !
Same situation here...i've tried all this bat before, not even one works. Have somebody tried TWRP by cofface ?
I didn't...No nerves anymore

i believe you...this goes really on the nerves. What is very strange is that only a few of us have this problem. I have no clue why, but it seems to me that only happens to the people with redmi 3s (2 gb/16 gb) bought recently. I am trying to figure out if this has something to do how we do the flash with Miflash (maybe which version ?), but it doesn't look at the first sight any different from what others do.
Sorry but my Redmi3S is only 10 days old 'from buying date' and TWRP-installer.bat did the job at first trial. But I discovered that the data partition came encrypted and I was forced to format all. Then I installed the new rom from OTG because I didn't have SD card available.

Just for info:
The same behaviour i had before i flashed with Miflash with the Global Stable ROM.
I cannot try anything further because i prepared the Phone for a friend of mine. FW is MIUI V8 6.11.10 beta xiaomi eu. , he is happy so far.
By the way on a Redmi 3s 2/16 from 2 months ago i had none of this at all !!!

Download latest CyanogenMod Recovery for Redmi 3S to your Computer.
The file you downloaded is called recovery.img
Boot your redmi 3s into fastboot mode
in fastboot command: fastboot boot recovery.img
you are in cyanogen mod recovery and can enjoy.

It means this is the only method to boot into recovery ............. Can someone with better knowledge please figure out the solution....
I`ve decided to return to stock and I wish I didn`t!
After flashing the files for the latest stock image , I was unable to pass the boot animation.
That was six hours ago.
I tried to reinstall another full image from google website.
I did and then my computer doesn`t recognize my device on adb mode.
Tried to update the drivers via Android Studio and through the usb drivers folder , it gives an error of not being able to download the update because of disabling the automatic windows update even though I did.
Help, people what can I do?
Should I just get a new phone?
It`s a very tough option for me right now due to some financial issues.

Hi... Explain how exactly you flashed your phone. Fastboot? Adb sideload?
What was your android version prior to your problem.
What version did you try to flash? Did you use the flash all.bat/sh? Or flashed each image manually?
Are you stuck in bootloader? Can you still access recovery? Or does it bootloop when trying to reboot into recovery?

No, unlocking the bootloader may make the difference in being able to recover your phone. Did you also enable USB debugging in Developer Options when you unlocked your bootloader? Was ADB working before and now has stopped working? I would first focus on getting ADB/fastboot binaries (and USB drivers) set up and working properly on your PC.

I flashed the latest version of Android 7.1.1 with March update
I flashed each image manaually
Not stuck on boot loader but stuck on the animation of booting without accessing anything on the phone so it`s a bootloop.
I flashed stock all and unlocked the bootloader afterwards....... Trying to unlock it now with no hope of how to unlock it and flash anything and save myself from this problem!

No you just need fastboot working to unlock (this is assuming you already had it unlocked before)... but again this depends on you having your PC set up correctly.
fastboot flashing unlock - try that and see if it finishes successfully or not.
Edit: That and try to answer @5.1 's questions

I unlocked it before but now did a full recovery to Stock and locked the bootloader.
I need to access the usb debugging option before I can type in that command in the CMD
My PC is set up correctly .
My only problem is that I don`t have access to my phone in order to enable that option and don`t know how to unlock the bootloader with any other way.
That is all

Hi... Explain how exactly you flashed your phone. Fastboot? Adb sideload?
Fastboot
What was your android version prior to your problem.
7.1.1
What version did you try to flash? Did you use the flash all.bat/sh? Or flashed each image manually?
The same version again after flashing a pure nexus rom , flashed each image manually
Are you stuck in bootloader? Can you still access recovery? Or does it bootloop when trying to reboot into recovery?
not stuck on bootloader , still have access to the recovery mode (stock one not TWRP) it bootloops only when I try to turn on the phone.

What version are you on? 7.1.1?
Try sideloading the beta 7.1.2 ota. You can find it on the N6P general section I think.
I'm not saying it will solve your problem. If factory reset didn't fix your bootloop, I don't know what else to do... Good luck!
So as the titles says, I tried to downgrade my Mi A1 from 9 to 8.1 'cause I wasn't happy at all with the low band.
I did the normal process to install the stock ROM but the problem is the ROM is installed BUT the system doesn't start. It keeps showing the Mi logo and Android One Screen and then reboots.
The phone shows normally in the PC when I connect it using the TWRP, I can see all the available space and I can access fastboot normally.
I already tried:
- Flashing with Mi Flash
- Flashing via TWRP
Both with no success, so, guys, any help?

Followed the tutorial correctly and the device is on! But there's a new problem:
- The phone restarts always in the configuration screen. Any tip?
So guys, it seems I solved the problem and I'll tell you how:
- First of all, I made some research about the nougat and it seems I was getting trouble because of the persist.img file. I flashed the Nougat following this tutorial: https://www.technobuzz.net/downgrade-mi-a1/
- After the nougat was flashed, I was facing the same issue (phone restarting) and I kept looking for answers when I found this tutorial: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/guide-fix-device-automatically-t3724240 and then I followed it. The result was a black screen repetitively rebooting, truth is I was about to get in bed and cry, hahaha. So I had the idea of flashing the latest version of Stock Rom from Xiaomi Website.
- I've downloaded the last version of the Stock Rom from here: https://en.miui.com/download-333.html and then I flashed it with Mi Flash and after that my device booted normally.
Hope it helps in some way

Hello guys, I have a problem. I updated my Mi A1 and now I am in bootloop. I can't use MiFlash because I have locked bootloader.
I have tried fastboot oem edl, adb sideload in recovery but it didnt help. Any solution?
bad luck !! Test point method is the only way ? i faced the same situation ... please don't go to the service centre , they will tell you that the motherboard of your device needs a change .. and ask for a big amount of money if your phone is out of warranty ..!! search for the test point method here .. follow the video , and then follow the steps to go back to stock oreo from pie .. that's the only way ??
Same problem happened with me
My internal storage gets full and mobile automatically got switched off and bootloop
I tried to flash my self with adb command fastboot oem unlock
And successfully unlocked the bootloader & flashing process started but it keep flashing for long time whole night
So i decided to go near shop and gave him he tried with EDL test point and then phone goes in black screen He gave up :crying:
Now I'm thinking to go mi service centre but i get to know their ans is to change motherboard

Hi! Does testpoint method works here?
I'll try with a home made EDL cable, if this does not work I'll have to drive to the office for tools and try the test point. I'll update, but if anyone knows if this or that works and see this post on time, let me know!
UPDATE:
- EDL cable didn't work.
- Test point method worked fine, I thought that opening this phone would be harder, search for dissasembly tutorials on youtube and for test point method, the brick got back to life and it's fully working!

Try to flash latest firmware first or try with latest version of miflash tool.
on your PC, unzip the installer zip, and then zip it again. copy this re-zipped ROM to SD card and flash it.

Just try flashing miui recovery rom using custom recovery (orange fox recommended). Then try flashing it with mi flash tool (if you really want this method). If still issue exits, try extracting the rom file again and try flash or else download a fresh file. And one more thing....if you want a clean miui experience without lag and good battery, I recommend you trying miui eu rom 10.3.4, its an old version, but really good. Netflix is not supported. I really recommend eu rom as it is free from bloatware.
