Hey I've been out of the game since around the google nexus so the lingo is pretty foreign. Basically trying to wipe a repurposed tablet and don't know the password. Tried booting into a recovery menu but there's only ODIN3 download mode (vol down on power up) and android updater (vol up on power up). I was wondering if anyone could point me to a guide to wipe it without being able to unlock the tablet. The original owner passed away so there's no getting the passcode. I want to do it with as little superuser permissions as possible. (don't want to root if it can be avoided). Any help would be great.
Device needs wiping if oem lock is still active. However cannot be done from recovery as it will FRP lock the device.
You will need to flash the CSC (not HOME_CSC) part of the firmware which will reset the device.
If that is not available then flash the 4 file repair firmware.

Hi all,
I have an i5801 with all the usual orange crapware.
I'd dearly like to lose all that and turn it into an i5800 with the standard samsung firmware. I don't really want to root it, and i do not need to unlock it.
Is it as simple as downloading a rom (I5800XWJPF) and flashing it with odin as described in this thread?
Should I get a rom with the bootloader removed? or an entirely stock one?
Once this is done, will my phone basically actually be an i5801 and then be updatable via the normal channels?
thanks for some guidance. It's a little confusing (too much information out there)
slip
i think u can just flash xwjpf when u flash the bootloader ur phone will say i5800 when it boots. when u dont flash the bootloader it says i5801. without the bootloader is safer u dont need root to flash a rom
You can simply flash a i5800 stock ROM, with the bootloader
I've done dozens of flash with bootloader and never hardbricked my phone, so I think it's quite safe.
thanks chaps.
how do i factory reset / clear cache (as mentioned in the guide)
i have tried vol+, vol- home and pwr but it just takes me to the downloading screen, not a menu.
you have to press Vol Up + Vol Down + Home + Power on
its a bit tricky
i could never get into recovery. before I flashed, vol+,vol-,home+pwr just started downloader.
adb reboot recovery just rebooted the phone.
So i flashed anyway. Still could not get in with vol+,vol-,home+pwr but managed to get into recovery via adb.
cache cleared and reset, and now i have an i5800!
thanks again
let the boot loader remain.dont tamper with it.chances of hard bricking are less when you leave the boot loader files intact
Long story short - when using wifi my s7 edge started to restart several times until it got to boot loop. I tried various things, enter and exit download mode, factory reset, partition cache clear, nothing helped. I tried to flash stock firmware several times (different versions) but it didn't help. I can go to recovery and download mode, odin recognizes the device and passes the flashing, however it does not boot. Always stuck on "galaxy s7 edge" screen.
Do you guys have any idea what could I do? I was thinking about installing twrp, however will I be able to install it if the setting in developers setting "OEM unlock" was not enabled?

Hello,
You don't have to worry, your phone isn't broken, i flash roms every day so i'm very familiar with does kind of "Errors". I'm here to assist you.
So without the OEM Unlock option enabled your phone won't be able to boot to recovery neither system if you flash a custom rom, flashing the stock firmware via Odin is the only way so try does steps:
1. Download stock firmware for your model from sammobile.
2. Extract the files and place them in the correct tab.
3. Disable auto-reboot in option panel.
4. Soon after it finish flashing, long press volume down and power button until screen turns off, then quickly press volume up, home button and power button.
5. Phone should now boot to recovery from which you have to do a factory reset and wipe cache/data.
6. Restart system.
Phone should boot just fine now, it might take 5 minutes for the first boot, if you're stuck for more than 5 minutes i would kindly ask you to take a picture of your log in recovery.
If you manage to boot the phone go to developer settings and enable OEM unlock then you can flash TWRP and from TWRP a custom rom.
If you have questions and still need help, feel free to pm me for anything, i'm here to help you!
Grettings,
SwitchDeath
So I took it to the service, it was a faulty motherboard.
I have same issue with my s7 edge, but with AT&T version (G935A). I couldn't find the firmware from sammobile as previous instruction from SwitchDeath. Do I have any other option to download the firmware from other source? Nothing seem to work for me from all other forum instructions and downloads, it just stuck in "galaxy s7 edge" screen on and off and not reboot at all. Please help!
As the title says, I need help bypassing pattern lock on my phone. It's a metroPCS phone.. I don't have debugging enabled. Here are the details from bootloader recovery:
Android Recovery
ZTE/Z982/crocus
7.1.1/NMF26V/20180130.133825
user/release-keys
Use volume up/down and power.
Reboot system now
Reboot to bootloader
Apply update from ABD
Apply update from SD card
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
View recovery logs
Power off
I do not want to factory reset my phone as my stuff is in there. I've tried 110 attempts to unlock the pattern and still have yet to figure out what it was to the point where I'm giving up and need to find a solution to bypass it. Can someone point me in the right direction here? I'm sorry if there has been a similar post made but I could not find anything to help me with this.
So here is my situation: SM-G950U with a fresh clean install of stock 9.0 firmware via Odin. Phone reboots, and begins setup. However, I'm met with FRP warning. No big deal, since I know a way around that, but I need to reboot to download mode first and install safestrap to do it. Problem is that neither button hold combination does anything except boot the phone normally. Vol up nor vol down + Bixby + Power provide results from a reboot or a powered off state, except boot the phone normally. I cannot use adb commands either because developer options are not yet enabled because I can't get passed the FRP screen. I should be able to access both modes regardless of what stage of setup the device is in, correct? I know I have before. Is this some kind of security patch? Is there any other way to get to download mode to use Odin? Or a method to bypass FRP without Odin or a custom recovery, or safestrap? I'm really stuck on why I can't force it using the three buttons during boot/reboot. Thanks in advance for your input.
Seems I found a way to semi brick my SM-T500. I was attempting to install the LOS 18.1 ROM just posted in the guide section. Some how I got the "can only install official" error message on my download screen after flashing TWRP. Made the mistake of flashing only the stock AP without BL or CSC and now I can't get into either recovery or download modes. Holding vol up and down and plugging in USB cable does nothing. Same with holding power button and either vol up or down. Blank screen. Can only power on and boot to system.
Did you install twrp and can you get into recovery. I had similar problem but was still able to get into download mode from power off. However to do so I had to boot into twrp and select reboot and power off... from that menu you can also boot directly to download mode... I know that doesnt halp much if you hadnt installed twrp yet... but thought I would throw that out there...

I can't boot TWRP or download. The only thing that will boot is system. Can't even get to the lock/unlock screen.
can you connect to adb shell? and try #reboot download
or #reboot twrp. I figure if you get to download you can reflash stock and start over.
Also when your trying to boot into recovery try not being plugged in. Not sure about this device but a lot of older Samsung's that I had would not let me get into recovery if I was plugged in during boot.
Locked oem mode
Locked download mode
Locked wipe factory
Locked update from sd card
Recycling item...
Need factory reset
I saw alot of issues with twrp so I tried Magick for first time ever on my SM-T500 and had a minor hiccup bc I wasn't paying attention to firmware and installed an old AP with newer firmware but ended up just reflashing the whole tablet with the same firmware as the AP that is required for Root and presto it worked! AND HEY IM DEF A NEWBIE!

Yeah I've run into the same thing, I originally missed the step to run Magisk after I flashed the patched tar and rebooted into the System and it triggered the "Prenormal KG state" problems. Finally I managed to flash stock ROM back and got to exactly where you are now.
I was able to just flash the patched Magisk AP without CSC and BL, and now it will only go to stock recovery and was able to get TWRP to work once but couldn't factory reset or wipe cache due to (which I assume was) a ton of mounting failures when it loaded.
Anyone else have suggestions to get this thing stable so I can flash LOS? I can get to Download mode.
hello, I post this because it's seems the same subject. I have to password protected (forget password) original rom tablet (non root). For me the datas are not important , I just want to remove the password or reflash with original rom. I downloaded Odin , usb driver and correct firmware. I select AP firmware with Odin, I see the connexion (COM3 green) and it's stuck to "setup connexion".
My problem is that it's impossible to enter in download mode.
When I try to shutdown the tablet, it ask me for a password.
When I press for seconds the power button , after few second I see the Samsung Logo and the tablet restarts.
I try to press volume up, volume up and volume down etc...but each combinaison...no recover, no download mode, nothing and impossible to flash . is it normal ? how to do to unsticked SetupConnetion ?
regards
bruno

This is not the same as my problem. My problem is that I flashed AP without BL and the two don't match. It isn't that things are locked but that I can't boot to anything but system. Can't boot recovery or download so I can't flash ANYTHING. Not even stock.
