Going back to stable from Android 10 Open Beta - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Hi. I haven't found any simple way of downgrading from beta to stable . Is there any simple way of doing it? I went to beta easily through app called Oxygen Updater but now i have no idea how to go back to stable Android 10 (if there is even stable Android 10) .
Thank you for help :highfive:

nvm, can lock. It is as simple as downloading stable ota package and installing it through local update in Updater.

Edit: sorry miss read the question ,get the stable 10 package and install that via local upgrade, you will be warned that this might cause data loss but because stable is a newer build than beta you will not lose any data,
By the way, both builds for A10 are currently bug ridden messes, hopefully newer builds here soon

Best ROM for Redmi 4 Prime as of right now

Hey guys,
I am currently running a beta of MIUI EU (it was one of the first original ROMs) however I want something new and stable. If I flash the stable MIUI EU I need to flash it from scratch and delete data, so I might as well see whats out there.
What is the most stable ROM for us currently?
My requirements in a ROM are the below;
- Fingerprint Sensor
- Encryption
- No bloatware
- Stable
- Receives OTA updates
- Good battery management (MIUI actually does a pretty good job of this AFAIK)
I am currently looking into EPIC and Resurrection however I want the one that will be receiving updates going forward etc.
Please let me know your thoughts of what you guys are using and why etc.

Try FlymeOS, but as some bloatware... There's no Custom ROM with OTA. Only MIUI and FlymeOS

Currently the only custom rom that usable is mokee 6 by razziell, but no OTA. Else use xiaomi.eu like your current choice.
All nougat custom rom currently suffer from either fingerprint, gps and camera bug due to lack proper driver from xiaomi. MIUI 9 based on nougat will fix those problems.

When you say "the only custom rom that (is) usable", are you taking into account the latest unofficial lineage os 13 by Jacoghi? I'm referring to lineage-13.0-20170506-UNOFFICIAL-markw that isn't available on Xda, but only on Bruno Coghi's YouTube channel.
It has everything working and covers all the items on that checklist, except for OTA updates.
It's my daily driver and it works great.

I guess it is already unusable on the sole ground that is hasn't June security patches.
Does 20170506 mean 2017-June-5 or 2017-May-6?

If you go by that criteria, then probably 99% of all Android devices are unusable...
What you probably mean is that it is not the best case scenario. But there's a huge difference between not the best and unusable. And having just the May security updates, although not absolutely great, is still pretty good.
Sure I'd love if the dev kept releasing updates, but i think my device is pretty safe for the time being.
go for Epic, you wont disappointed

Thanks for all the replies. I am really torn between them now. The Miui EU stable offers a lot, but it's still bloated like anything and will prob run very heavy like the current one I'm running.
If I opt for something else no OTA and some features will be broken.
Hmmm

WTF? does it even make sense the thing you're saying? "If I opt for something else no OTA and some features will be broken"?! Just try something yourself, watch reviews of the ROMs that exist for our device and choose yourself the one that you think that attracts you the most

High accuracy gps still drain battery faster than on Razziell mokee rom. Also Razziell rom more updated since jacoghi shift development to nougat.

Yeah so what Im saying, is it worthwhile using something that maybe I sacrifice the OTA but the rest is absolutely amazing, or stick with something a bit heavier but it has the OTA ie. MIUI EU Stable.
I use my phone for work so I cant really be messing around with something that isnt pretty stable and reliable you know.

Personally I have never ever used OTA, and can't really understand the requirement of a ROM to have it.
There are a lot of stable ROMs out there. Mokee, Lineage OS 13, and I'm currently using AOKP with no issues.
If you want something more like stock try Epic ROM.
Else just use MIUI EU Stable.
I tried a few roms. Epic seems steady for work n battery.
Think it's about half the weight of global about 900 mb approx.
I get nearly 4 days if phone was in ideal.
17.5 hrs sot strong WiFi, screen 20% no sim..

Are you able to use fastboot? If not then you bricked your device, either deep flash cable or test point could bring back your device. Never trust someone to flash rom to your device before you do research on the rom, kenzo and markw is different device and have different SOC.
It only make sense if you try to flash mido (Redmi Note 4) rom since they have same SOC, but don't try this. Only flash rom that are build for markw.

"This package is for OnePlus 5 devices, this is OnePlus 5T"

Hi guys!
So I rooted my OP5, tested a few custom ROMs, decided to go back to the stock ROM. Installed the most recent stable version and now I tried to install a downloaded full Beta stock ROM and voila:
This package is for OnePlus 5 devices, this is OnePlus 5T
Do you have any guess what is the problem and how it can be corrected? Is it the TWRP's problem? I tried both the base version and codeworkx. What is my main fear the problem may persist even with any future stable versions.
Any insight is welcomed, thanks
I don't know what the updater script checks for. Could you send it to me so I can have a look? You find it somewhere inside the Meta-Inf folder inside the rom zip.
Hey man, thanks for the help, I solved the problem by installing Beta 12 first, THEN Beta 14 package. Well, I'm now subject to other problems, but that is the way of "hacking" phones

Open Beta Not Flashing ( Vendor Partition Problem )

I have Oneplus 5, I was initially running Open Beta 14, I installed Mokee ROM for Android P and later again flashed OP5 to OxygenOS 5.1.3 Android 8.1 using Qualcom MSM Tool.
But I am not able to Flash Open Beta(s) now,, I tried Open beta 13 and 15, none worked.
I clean wiped using stock recovery, didnot work.
Wiped using TWRP by BluSparx 3.2.3 - vendor still not mounted( as it doesnot exists) and - still Open Beta not flashed after wipe.
I also switched to Android 7.1.1 and tried installing Open Beta 13 and 15 - still didnot work.
Please help me switch to Open Beta ROM for Oxygen OS Oneplus 5
First flash open beta 12 then you can flash ob 14 or 15.

Have you read the post above yours? It's mandatory to update to a special ob first so vendor partition will be created.
It's not made clear in the installation notes for OB14, 15, 16 etc but yes as @bkma says, you need to flash OB 12 first if you are coming from non-OB.

The problem is that oneplus did not implement clean flashing of every beta/stable. The updates are always seamless ota updates, hence its not possible for normal users to skip updates and continue with ob16 when coming from OB11 for example.
That's a thing people don't understand here. The process provided by oneplus is fool proof, but when you did not follow the official way, it can be hard, as always.
Therefore its not mentioned in later open beta changelogs or installation instructions. It was mentioned when vendor partition came up.

I see where you are coming from, and you're right, if you were on the Open Beta program all along, this is fool proof.
I bought a new OnePlus 5 about a month ago, I think OB14 was the latest beta release about then. I had not been messing around with rooting, 3rd party roms, kernels, twrp, anything like that. I was just looking for OnePlus official way to get on to the latest beta. It took me a bit of searching through old forum posts (posts which were made before the time I was even thinking of getting a OP5) to find out how to do it.
The information on the OnePlus website currently is insufficient for new beta users to install it from stable. (unless if you go digging through the old release notes) It's not a complaint, just pointing out that it is a subtlety of going to the latest OB that people would have to be aware of if they are new to the OP5 (or if they have recently decided to move from stable to beta).

How to rollback to Android 9 stable from Android 10 stable on OnePlus 6T

I updated to Android 10 stable on my OnePlus 6T (India) and have been experiencing massive battery drain and heating issues. Now I want to rollback to Android 9 stable. Please help
Download beta rom(oxygen is 9) and install through local upgrade. It will downgrade to beta Android 9, then download official stable rom 9 and local upgrade it again. That's it.

I tried factory reset but it was of no use.
I guess will have to wait for OP to push the stable update( I updated from a YouTube video link which claimed the update was stable about a week ago).
Since am a noob and don't know how to rollback so will have to wait.

Question Nothing OS 1.5 from Beta to Stable

I have installed Nothing OS 1.5 (beta) (Global) on top of NOS 1.1.7. In the future, when A13 stable rolls out for Nothing Phone, can I update it on top of Beta? I don't want to lose data at any point.
Also, wanted to know the procedure to go back to NOS 1.1.7 if I change my mind.
Thank you.
You're going to have to ask Nothing about that since no-one in this forum is equipped with a time travel device as far as I know

In the past on OnePlus, it was 2 different branch (Stable & Beta) and we can't switch between them without format data or only with root and a TWRP Custom recovery.
Today, no one know if beta users will should format/factory reset data for migrate beta to stable 1.5, but i think yes (for security, stability)
FYI you asking for downgrade 1.5 beta to 1.1.7, you can't downgrade without lose/erase all your data.
So keep the beta for now... And NOS 1.5 beta is great, it's not so difficult !
