I don't have the links on hand. No root on pie.
It will not trigger Knox. If you got s8+ threads you can find it there. There is no rush. The method is some what difficult. So a lot of reading.
Also any us device s8 plus or notes. That are rooted are limited by Samsung to only charge to 80%.

Yea it's limited by Samsung. We where getting better battery life from 80 than unrooted with 100. I got a hack method to get 100% nearly in the s8 general threads somewhere. Other than nothing can be done about it.

Ha ha ha! You are funny man... Did you just say Verizon and root in the same sentence? Lol I can guarantee you that Verizon has this bad boy LOCKED down just like AT&T will too. I made the switch to T-Mobile and while the coverage is not as good, I can root and rom ALL of my devices that I paid for.

I did the same for the very same reason. Verizon's coverage was amazing, but everything was completely locked down, so I'm now on t mobile.
The T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge will be the first Galaxy phone i've owned. I've heard about KNOX but is/has there ever been a root method for Galaxy devices that doesn't trip knox? And is it easy or possible to untrip knox?

It will probably be 6 or more months before Verizon variant is rooted,.
Note 4 is still not rooted.
@owenbeals, I noticed that you don't mention anything about the consequences of tripping Knox. There are noobs watching your stuff who aren't even sure what rooting is, much less what tripping Knox would do. I would hate to see one of them find out that they have voided their warranty the hard way on such an expensive device. IMO, it would a good idea to mention what tripping Knox does in the OP in red letters to warn people who otherwise wouldn't know.

Will there be a way to unroot (I recall the Superuser app having an option) or will we need a recovery? It's been about a year since I had an android device and rooted an android device so I don't know if the that process got any better.

CF Auto Root Guide for SM-G928V ?

Hi All,
I'm having trouble finding a guide for my exact version of my 6 Edge Plus. My Baseband version is G928VVRU2BPD4. I have found this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-edge-plus/general/guide-6-0-1-g928fxxs2bpd2-t3371526) but I'm not sure if it will work for me?
If someone could point me in the correct direction, or let me know if the guide that I linked to above will work for me - I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!
I have the same phone and did not see my exact model on CF Auto-Root.
Anyone have any information regarding a easy root for this phone? SM-G928V

Most Verizon devices can't be rooted....
Old thread, I know, but I'm desperate. Is it still the case that this Verizon model can't be rooted? No way around it? I need to root my phone in order to do a deep scan for deleted files.

I'm also looking for a root all over the internet, Why is this model not being looked into anymore? i know the phones 2 years old, but cmon. I assume it cant be rooted because of the bootloader being locked tighter then fort knox itself. Verizon devices are notorious for having extra security.
Finally Root
Hey man, i finally got root for SM-G928V, this soluction is the app Wondershare MobileGo (PC), he have a built-in root application.

Nope. I downloaded it, does nothing. Cant even detect my phone. Its a waste of time. The bootloader cannot be unlocked on this model because of Verizon and no one is working on a root method because the device is already too old. Im going to sell it and upgrade to a S7 edge. Right now you can get a used S7 edge on ebay for under $250. Just avoid the verizon models.

Will we ever get root?

So I've been looking between the S8 and the G6 to upgrade to, and I really like the S8, but I use root a lot for different things- Viper, AdAway, and just general performance things
Does anyone think it's realistic to say we'll get this phone rooted? I remember my old S6 being hard to root, but it got done in a month or 2, and I'm just curious
Thank you to anyone who can help me

If you are referring to the U.S. Snapdragon variants, it will be some time and it will half baked like it was with the S7 and S7 Edge. They locked the bootloader on all the Snapdragon variants and that, obviously, makes it infinitely more difficult to root. The Exynos version of the aforementioned phones had root last year and it apparently performed very well. I wouldn't expect it anytime near launch. These devs have lives, so there will be no timetable.
Also, in my opinion, Viper tends to be a little overrated, but I am just throwing my 2 cents in here.
Now that they removed the remapping functionality for the Bixby button, I will definitely want to root my device (Exynos variant).
So there is no root even with magisk root?

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3594756
Ive been looking for a exynos region list but this year having no luck to determine the right model on lte and att bands..but all i buy now is exynos because they are or were unlocked. My sig showes what devices i still own and tinker with but what im saying is i bought the 920C, 910C, and 928G last year and use them in the US without a problem on att.. But with some countries getting samsung pay will they get exynos or snapdragon. Regions that got samsung pay would be locked thats the info ive been trying to figure out....lol

[Q] Cons of Rooting and Unlock Bootloader

Hi, i just want quick answer for my question is:
What feature that I'll lose after root or unlock my Bootloader alongside tripping my knox? does it have any side effect to camera quality just like Xperia device which lost Bionz Software Processing function after unlocked?
Thanks
You'll lose Samsung Pay.
That's it.

No you will not lose S Health. I'm rooted and I use it regularly. But before using it you should edit build.prop file and change the line "ro.config.tima=1" to "ro.config.tima=0".
You can find the file in the root directory.

Android Pay may work if Magisk is able to hide root.
Samsung Pay will never work again because it checks the knox status and you cannot modify it.

Yes for both cases.
Samsung Pay checks knox status and since you cannot revert it to its original state, there's no way to get it working.
Magisk can hide root from Android Pay. You just have to make sure SafetyNet is passing. It's not 100%, sometimes Google change things and it starts failing again, but you can try anyway.

Does it worth to root the Note FE?

I thinks that we are going to face software instability if we did so. Right ?
I dont think that we need any other custom rom .
So i am thinking of just rooting without installing any custom rom . If i will , it will be only For the z sake of using TWRP.
What is bothering me the silence of all Note FE forum .. no news .. nothing at all . What do you think !!
Limitation number of sold phone is the reason. Even with stock phone, we dont have software support like S7e. Anyway, its ur choice. And would like to use Samsung services in their mobile device so i keep it non root.

That popular than the Note FE. And at the time of Note 3, there is no huge difference between root and non root about Samsung services. So u can compare these device. I also used S4 and my opinion is try to use Samsung device that official release in your country and not root it if u not have another High end Samsung Device ?

It's up to u. With customization, there will have substratum for that (at least it enough for most of people). With backup, u have cloud and SmartSwitch. And uptake, i think it really not necessary as Samsung Firmware is really good enough for most of situations. Basically, i dont see anything better if rooted Note FE.

But Google Pay wont have large number of accept place. Samsung Pay have large number of accepted place. Google Pay wont be affected by root. Samsung Pay, root mean lost forever.
So i think it will be very hard to decied root flagship Samsung device.
Unless you are a software developer there is no reason to actually root a modern android device. As the latest version of Android is pretty efficent.
Root is not really important for android user today. I just wonder why there are so few custom roms for note FE lol..
Root is for customization. Nowdays theres option to customize even if ur device is not rooted.
This is the only android device which I have not rooted as I find not that helpful as most of the feature and customization which we use to get through the root are already available even in the low spec phone
