Unable to load some websites USB tethering - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

I am sharing internet from my Samsung galaxy S10+ to my HP Pavilion 15-n208tx laptop via USB tethering. On my phone, I am getting browsing speeds of upto 10 mbps but while tethering, I am unable to load many websites. I am using the USB type C cable provided with the phone for tethering.
Example of strange behavior:
Sites loading:
Google search
Instagram
Sites not loading:
Codeforces
Amazon shopping

Hi, I have the exact same problem.
Using Samsung Galaxy S10e and ubuntu 18.04 and USB tethering.
Exact same websites do or don't work as yours.
I've found that websites which use ipv6 do work; those which only use ipv4 don't work. But this info doesn't help me.
Can you please share if you have found a solution?

[Q] Tethering the N7 to my Blackberry 9780

Hello,
I have a Blackberry 9780 that I'd like to tether with my N7. Has anyone had any success with this? I am currently trying with BlueVPN but unable to connect (I have written to the dev and awaiting a response).
I think you should post this in blackberry forums, I don't really know anything about BB but until you get a wifi hotspot that you can connect on with any device, it's on blackberry. Nexus should understands all encryption so that shouldn't be an issue.
However, a quick google search reveals, that 9780 does not support wifi hotspot, you can however use it as usb modem with BB software on PC.
What I would try (although I don't think with any positive result) is connecting BB with USB cable trough USB host/otg and try sharing internet connection (I doubt it would work)
or there is a guide how to get it running on iPad (I'm sure you can figure out how to get it running on android from this guide)

[Q] Portable Hotspot via Orange (EE) connected but no traffic-I have searched...

Hi,
Firstly I should introduce myself, my name is George, live in Essex and have a passion for cars and gadgets.
I've been roaming this forum since I had my first android device a HTC Hero and try and use search as much as possible rather than repeating other peoples problems but I am properly stuck with this one..
To be short,
Device Details:
Device: Google Nexus 4
Android Version: 4.2.1
Carrier: Orange (EE)
Problem: Portable hotspot is active and I can connect to it from various devices but there is no data pass through.
Solutions tried:
Changing the APN type to every possible solution mentioned (i.e consumer broadband etc)
Using both open and sercured sercurity on the hotspot
Connecting using everything from another phone to my Google Chromebook and all imbetween
I've read there has been mention of Orange blocking this but most people find this isn't the case and its usually fixed via the APN.
The only thing that looks slightly odd is that an ipconfig on my windows machine(s) shows 192.168.xxx.xxx yet the IP address displayed by my Nexus is 10.166.xxx.xxx and if I ping my Nexus's IP from my machine i do get a response.... (all when connected to the hotspot)
Even with a ip release/renew still picks up 192.168
So that is my issue....
I can't think of anything else bar a factory reset which i'd rather not do just yet so thought i'd ask here first I geuinely searched everywhere!
any help would be much appreciated....
Don't mean to bump this but if anyone could offer any advice it would be much appreciated!
Even if someone could just confirm they are using the Orange/EE network with the Nexus 4 and has it working?
Thank you!!
i'm also on orange (EE).
bummer. mine's not working either. i thought it was but i think i was connecting to my router's wifi instead.
i also tried bluetooth tethering but couldn't get that working at all.
A sort of "me too", here: I'm also an Orange (EE) customer who can't get WiFi (or Bluetooth) tethering to work. However, USB tethering works fine - just appears to install a RNDIS virtual Ethernet adapter, and then just works.
Using Wireshark, I noticed that DNS lookups (which use the phone as a DNS server/ proxy) actually work. However, SYNs for connections to hosts on the Internet go unanswered. I'm beginning to suspect that the phone just isn't forwarding packets from the WiFi interface to the cell interface (but no idea why)
As a sort of aside: I'm pretty sure this used to work on my Motorola Atrix via Orange.
Having the exact same problem, running CM10.1.
Have messed around with APN settings but does nothing, laptop connects phone and even shows as having internet access but trying to visit any site just times out.
I have tried the exact same hotspot configuration with a giffgaff (O2) sim card and it works fine, so it must be Orange!

[Q] Is USB Tethering working with 4.4.2 for anyone?

Hi,
I am using this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537932
WIFI tethering works, flawlessly. But can't get USB Tethering to work.
I have installed the drivers, and when I connect my phone Device manager doesn't show up any unknown devices.
But as soon as I turn on USB Tethering I get a Nexus 4 with exclamation mark.
Damn it
Well, i have the same damned issue even on stock rom..no one knows how to fix it..prolly the only salvation is to downgrade from 4.4.2 to either 4.4 or earlier version..
All forms of Tethering work for me (on T-Mobile in the US), but with a rather large catch: only sites that use SSL (HTTPS). If I want to take a look at non-secure sites, like XDA, I have to connect to my home VPN. No VPN, no HTTP, only HTTPS. It's very odd, but the the behavior makes me think T-Mobile is probably blocking it. It will send the HTTP request out, resolve the host, but then stall on "waiting for [name of site]." I don't get a redirect page or anything, just nothing non-secure when I'm not on the VPN. I'm on T-Mobile's $30/month 100 minutes, unlimited text and data plan.
---
There's also a chance it might be related to the Android 4.4.2 tethering bug, as when I'm connected to the VPN, it doesn't rely on Android to process HTTP requests.

[Q] Tethering issues?

Having issues tethering with T-Mobile USA. If I try out WiFi tethering, it will connect, but Google is the only site it will load. Also loads Facebook and Twitter. Any other site and it won't load. Meanwhile, I can connect over USB, and all sites work fine. What could be the issue here? I can't carry my USB Cable around all the time. Running Beanstalk 4.4.
Would have searched, but apparently the sidebar on this site doesn't want to expand.

Just had this issue and was pulling my hair out. Go into your APN Settings and change IPv6 to IPv4.

FoxFi WiFi direct with PDANet works for Turbo 2

Apologies if this is already known, but I couldn't find anything on it when searching.
Many years ago I bought the paid version of FoxFi when I had my Razr before root options were available. On a whim, I installed it to see if the USB tethering would work with PdaNet. Not only did I find that USB tethering works, but WiFi direct also works under the PdaNet options. I know this isn't a totally free option (I think the free version of FoxFi either limits total data and/or turns off intermittently), but it does work very well. You can also download PdaNet for your computer from your phone and transfer it via USB cable - so you can still make this work if you have no other internet connection than your phone. Hope this helps.

I also have the paid version and have been trying to get it to work with my Firestick with no luck... I looked for a tutorial on how to set it up but couldn't find one. I tried WPS and inputting the password manually. What did your successfully connect to?

PdaNet seems to have to be installed on the client device. In my case a computer. PDANet can be downloaded from PDANet.co (not .com). To my knowledge PdaNet only works on Mac, Windows, and Android - so a TV (if that's what you're using) may not work. I am currently posting this from my computer using PdaNet + FoxFi as it's the only internet connection I have available during the week.
I didn't have any luck with the WPS - not sure where the issue is/was, but entering the password in manually has been very trouble free. I can watch Netflix and Youtube without issue, but Twitch seems to have some issues. I haven't tried gaming yet (though the connection was good enough to get my games updated) - but hope to soon.

Cool, yes, I got it working on a windows computer, but wasn't able to get it to work on the Firestick streaming device. Not a TV.
Can you use Wi-Fi Direct to your PC and then use the WiFi share function to your firestick?
If you have Windows 10 on your PC you can usb tether (or wifi direct) the computer to your phones internet, then use the windows 10 mobile hotspot option to broadcast the signal to your other devices. I have my firestick hooked up with this setup, and my Xbox 1 too.
---------- Post added at 01:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:27 AM ----------
If you don't have Windows 10 you can tether your PC, then go to network and sharing center, click on change adapter settings, then right click the tethered connection with internet, hit properties, then the sharing tab, click the box on that says "allow other network users blah blah blah", then select the other connection that you wish to have internet. Before I started using Windows 10 this is how I would hook up my Xbox 1 through the Ethernet connection via PDANET+ usb tether. Works perfectly.
So I noticed it doesn't work on the Sticks. But it does work on the Pendant and Cube. The latter devices show a VPN prompt on the first time. I think that may have something to do with it.
