The phone was warm when it shut down?

Nope, just turned off, I can turn it no normally, it never heats up in what I use it for, maybe little bit on app update, but the shiwdows are not after updating apps, seems pretty random, I did not found any error log or anything

I was having all kinds of issues after updating to miui 11. Including phone turning off, battery drain, lags, etc. went to Update system, tabbed miui 11 logo many times. Once extra settings was activated, tabbed top right corner (3 dots) and tabbed on download latest package. After phone updated everything wad fixed. 3 days already, no issues. This option downloads same version but full file, more than 2gb, please try.

I had updated my phone to miui 11 using the full package still
sudden shutdown happened to me today.

No, no sudden drop in battery line, Yesterday I had another sudden/force shutdown but it happened when I was using it, touch was unresponsive, only physical keys were working, Power button would lock the screen, volume keys were able to change volume bar, but nothing else was responding, If i had left it in same condition it would have shutdown itself but I couldn't wait so I had to press & hold power button to force reboot.
MIUI seems to be not so stable.

Some problem.

EU version or Global?

It turned off twice today. I have global version, Updated to MIUI 11 and have had same issues (battery drain, turning off,...). I turned off all auto start apps and it fixed the battery drain. Before turning off itself, screen and buttons do not respond, screen is black untill I double tab to turn the screen on, then it shows the unlocked screen (even though I didn't unlock the screen) with no status bar on top (there's a solid black bar instead) and then it turns off itself.

If it is software dependent you must reflash the full rom not only to update that can't cover your issue.
If you are locked bootloader use provided MI recovery.

Said the FULL package and not only the "update ^pack" that is just a part of the full package.
You find the exact rom number you already have in your phone and reflash it saving your data in advance because phone will be erased.
But, first did you try a factory reset in order to check if issue remains?

Thanks for your response. I haven't. Factory reset wouldn't be my first action. That's why I've been searching for suggestions before doing anything. Btw, the issues started after I updated to MIUI 11. I'm not familiar with mobile technology so looking forward to detailed fix though...

Thanks for advance.

I have the exact same issue, device heats up (in pocket for example, when idling), and randomly shuts off at a random moment hours later Since Miui 11

Same issue here. After 1 month of use without any problems, it happened to me twice yesterday.

Having same issue. drops like 20-25% in battery once i turn it back on. weird...already installed fresh new rom etc. Only since mui11

Phone randomly stops sleeping

My phone will randomly stop sleeping, this has happened pretty much since i've gotten it.
I will launch spare parts, running near 100%. Check partial wake lock, nope nothing. And nothing under any of the other menus in spare parts that would indicate it not sleeping. This will occur after a couple of days even after installing no apps, restarting does not fix, neither does pulling battery. It will just start happening and only way to fix is data reset / factory wipe until it happens again, but when it does start happening I might've not even be using it at the time.
Okay, i did actually finally fix it after months without factory reset, it appeared to be when 3g and Data-always enabled was ticked.

If this fixes my no sleep problem, I will name my first child after you.
I've been detailing the steps I've taken to resolve my no sleep issue on another forum, with the last action I took being a flash to factory ROM from huaweidevice.com, changing absolutely nothing on the phone for 24 hours, rebooting, and waiting another 24 hours. Without a reboot between charge/taking off charge, it would be 100% running. If I took it off charge and immediately rebooted, running would be more like 30% (ie: 'normal').
I'll give 'data-always' a go

Okay im unsure now, was all fine yesterday, woke up at 7 to alarm, lost 2% overnight. then just put it under my bed but now that i've woken up i've lost 18% because it just stopped sleeping again. I didn't do anything except turn it on check battery, and turn it off. So back to being confused again
Still having this problem, for example. It was sleeping fine when I went to bed then at some point during the night just stopped.
Running 64.6% 10h
Screen on 10ish% 45 minutes
Highest item with partial wake lock in spare parts is like 5 minutes, no other indicators.
This is happening no matter which ROM i try.
Considering a stock ROM with exactly 0 changes still has sleep issues, its clearly a firmware "thing".
For me, it happens after being taken off charge.
For e.g. Last thing before bed I check my running time, and its somewhere around 35-40%. Plug into charger. Take off in the morning, goto work etc, check my run time and its 100% even without the phone being touched.
For the moment I just downloaded one of the "root only" reboot widgets from the Market. Its just part of my morning "get ready for work" routine to hit the reboot widget and reboot my phone.
Its a bit of a PITA but until new firmware is released I cant see a way around it.

Hey don't know if you've tested it further than that. But its much appreciated, that rebooting after charging does seem to work . But just wondering, if you know... does it only do it when charging via usb (computer) or AC or does it not matter?
I have exactly the same problem.
I also noticed that reboot helps, but only for a while. If i want my phone to go to sleep mode when the screen is off, i would have to reboot it few times a day... Turning WiFi/GPS/Auto-sync on/off does not have any affect on this.

As per your suggestion via email, I tried the Malaysian firmware.... It seemed that 'running' time was down alot, but battery life was still pretty average. That was doing nothing more than installing the Malaysian firmware and entering my Google account - no root, no launcher changes, etc.
The lack of Swype was a bit of a downer too
I gave it a whirl from 6:30am to around 5:00pm and 'running' was right down in the 10% range, but battery was still down to ~45% over that time in 'pure' stock form. DAMMIT!
Ah well. It was a good thought and hopefully it worked for you I'm back on roadhound + the OTA update as of about two hours ago.
I'm going to scour the SGS forums and see if anything there can be applied to the U8800 RE: battery life improvements.

Oh yeah sorry, try using something like juice defender to disable 3g when screen is off or something. 3g radio keeps it running, but it doesn't appear to be, this will stop the battery drains.
EDIT: That does work but its not ideal, turns out the u8800 and the u8800h use the exact same radio so im not sure now, don't know if there is any possible way to figure it out.

Hey guys.
This may not really be the thing you need but I was having similar problems and running 100% on without sleeping etc and came accross another forum where this was an issue (cant remember where)and as trivial as it sounds the solution for me was to go into settings/ applications/ manage applications and running applications and go down to media storage and clear the data. I do this now and then when I have this problem and it seems to help.... Maybe worth a try? It seems to be an issue with a particular media file. I also try to reboot my phone after every charge. Note that my phone is totally stock

Thanks for advice, but unfortunately this didn't help either. For some unknown reason, my running time is again 100% although the screen is off most of the time. In Partial wake usage, Android System is in the top of the list.
Oh, Android System partial wake lock seems to be a different issue, but maybe someone can help you out. Whats happening here is running = 100% yet there is no partial wake lock held. Quite unusual

Freezes overnight with my I9505 Galaxy S4

Hi Guys,
i got freezes when i charge it overnight (its connected to the original charger the whole night). I only can do a hard reset to use my device again because the touch-screen doesnt work then. This is very annoying because i use my device with Alarm to get up in the morning.
I already did a few clean installs (Cyanogenod Snapshots and Danvdh's Google Edition), wiped all caches and formated all data and caches aswell. I still got freezes. I get them from waking up my device (mostly in the morning between 5-6 am). All i see is a exclamation mark when i turn on the display. Then its frozen and i cant anything.
I already tried a few Modems and Kernels to test, but still freezes...
I use Modem I9505XXUGNK4 atm.
Any ideas ??? I really Need help with this !!!
Thanks

Have you tried the new 5.0 gpe from danvh? There was an issue with the charging animation and reboots.
yes, i got Dan's 5.0 gpe at the moment 12.17.2014
Dumb question, did you clear /system in between flashes as well?
Yes, i formated System and Cache + i wiped everything too
You should flash the latest stock firmware and see if the issue persists. If yes, try a different charger. If the problem still persists, I think it's a hardware problem. Probably battery or motherboard.
The Problem is only between 5-6 am. The whole day i got no Problems Should be a Problem with my Router maybe ?
i got no resets in my Settings there. maybe my Provider is doing a reset every day between 5-6 am and my device freezes then. i could try airplane mode too to test, right ?
I bought a new charger and battery today (both original). Maybe thats the problem.
i got News guys, i turned off wifi overnight an didnt plugged the charger to my device this night. No freeze !!! Yay !!!
So it only could be, charger, battery or Wifi, right ?
ok, i had a freeze at work a while ago. but i got no wifi or charger there... now i dont know what to do
Does it behave like this?:
You pick up the phone (it is in deepsleep),try to turn the screen on,it goes on,you try to unlock the screen and it just stops reacting to anything and turns the screen off after 20-30seconds?

Hy people, i have the same problem, but is not a specific hour when it freez, yesterday i picked up the phone and when i unlocked the screen, it freezed, but i don.t wait 30sec, i just lock/unlock it again and it work fine. The other problem was overheating..
and randomly restarting but i think i fixed it with a factory reset. What i want to tell now is that i installed "Root booster" before all these problemsc ocured. After it played with the kernel, do you all thing it might not restored the original settings? My phone is randomly heating sice i installed that **** on it...(even if i do factory reset)
Ps: i have a stock kernel/gt_505
Or the battery is guilty? It's draing pretty fast, after a day of use i put it to charge

Hy, i haved the same problem, but what i did yesterday solved that. I hope this steps will help you:
1. Enter in Recovery Mode and select wipe data/factory reset
2. Clear cache partition
3. Go in Settings/More/App Manager and search for Touchwiz Home
4. Force stop then Clear data
5. Withouth exit from settings, restart your phone
6. When phone is on, screen will be black and will ask you witch program you wanna use, select Touchwiz home then press "always"
After this steps, i solved the problem for my phone, but another thing i done after that is delete all knox files with Titanium backup.
I hope this steps myght help you.
Thanks guys, but i got a nexus 5 now. Bye Samsung. Thanks anyway for help.

Note 4 freezes while charging after lollipop

I tried posting this in the Sprint thread but haven't gotten any answers yet so perhaps I'll have better luck here. I pasted both posts to show the initial problem and what I did (essentially I factory reset). I'm still having the same problem where my phone will freeze while I'm charging it (about 2-3 times/week) requiring a battery pull. Anybody else seeing this problem or have suggestions on what I should try? Thanks.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Twice this week my alarm didn't go off (luckily I set a backup today) because sometime throughout the night something happened. When I woke up the phone was frozen on the yellow Sprint Spark startup screen. I needed to pull the battery and everything started up fine. I updated to Lollipop about 2 weeks ago which is where I'm guessing the issues stem from.
Is there anything I should try other than restoring to factory and starting over? I'd prefer to not have to wipe everything from my phone but these issues are becoming problematic. I am not rooted.
Thanks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
So I ended up doing a factory reset and while the phone certainly started running faster with better battery performance after the reset I'm still having this issue. I would say it occurs 2-3 times a week. It has only occurred overnight which is typically when I charge my phone so I'm pretty sure it is related to being left connected to the charger. The majority of the times I will wake up with a dim yellow Sprint screen and everything else frozen though occasionally the screen will be black with the led notification light red. In both situations the screen will not respond to any button pushes or holds and I need to pull the battery and then everything will start up fine.
Does anybody have any suggestions here on what I should do? I guess I can try and restore one more time and see but I don't really know why it would be different and it is certainly a pain to keep restoring the phone and losing all my settings. I definitely don't want to root now since I believe that voids the warranty and if I can't figure anything out with this I'll certainly be requesting a new phone from Sprint. Before I start dealing with Sprint though I thought I would check here first. Through all my searches on the internet I haven't seen anyone else complaining about this problem.
Thanks.

Hi there. I have a Canadian Note 4 (W8) with Bell, and I am having identical issues.
While charging over night, I find my phone stuck on "Samsung" logo, with the bubble animal still running. Holding down the power button does nothing and the only work around is the battery pull. I noticed that it also gets warm (assuming from the screen on time?)
First tried cache wipe - no fix
Factory reset - no fix
Cache wipe again - no fix
Aaaand today I came into work late

Definitely after the upgrade.
While on KitKat, it never happened (1 month ownership). But after upgrading to lollipop, it has happened 4 times (6 nights since lollipop).
Have you figured anything out with your situation? Woke up this morning to my backup alarm and the Yellow Sprint screen on my phone.
I guess I'll have to try another factory reset and if it still happens try and get a replacement. It just doesn't seem widespread enough of an issue to be a software bug with 5.0.1.
Very frustrated. I did another factory reset but the issue still plagues my device. It still only occurs once or twice a week but when I hear my old clock radio alarm in the morning I know when I look over I'll see the yellow frozen Sprint Spark screen. I am completely out of ideas and guess I will need to have it replaced under warranty. I'm hoping Sprint won't give me a hard time as this will be very hard to demonstrate.
It definitely appears to be a software issue as it never happened before I upgraded to Lollipop but there must be more to it or others would be complaining.
If anybody has ideas please let me know. Thanks.
Response to Note 4 Freeezing while charging
I have found that after turning the quick charge feature off the problem is not happening. Hopefully this is fixed in 5.1
I'm having the same issue even after turning quick charge off..def a lollipop bug, never experienced this on kk.
I know its not the BEST option, but after taking the update to lollipop, sometimes left over kitkat files can make the system poop out. Sometimes a factory reset will take care of the leftovers. But of course, then you have to set your phone up again
If you've tried this or plan to to, let us know the results.
(When i first took the update, my heartrate monitor sensor was always on, so i did a factory reset and it fixed my problem).
Solved with workaround!!!
I faced this "sleep of death" too after updating to Lollipop. I had to pull out the battery almost every time after charging. Very annoying! I noticed though that my phone never froze in my car while charging. Thinking about the difference I realised that I keep my phone awake in the car while charging using Macrodroid (which I love anyway to automise all kinds of things). I made a simple macro which keeps my phone awake while charging and another one that returns the phone to normal while on battery.
While charging: Trigger: Power Connected; Actions: Keep Device Awake enabled & Screen Off, Constraints: None
On Battery: Trigger: Power Disconnected; Actions: Keep Device Awake disabled & Screen Off, Constraints: None
Off course there are alternatives available to Macrodroid that should be able to do the same.
My problems are solved, with and without fast charging. I hope this will help some of you as well.
same problem here
Ive tried turning off fast charging option on the powersaving mode
And also tried the option on developer mode, the "keep device awake while charging"
And even flashing dofferent firmwares from sammobile through ODIN and installed custom roms. These options doesnt resolve the issues on freezing while charging..
I think turnong off your device while charging is the only option..
Im using note4 N910C..

Thanks a lot, Mate. I'm trying your workaround now. Will report later if it works on my phone. BTW, so, are you sure it is a just a system issue? Definitely, isn't a hardware problem? Did you fix it, after your post -a month ago-, installing, for example, lollipop 5.1.1 or Cyanogenmod 12.1? I'm on 5.0.1, SimpleRom V4. Of course, mi device, N910C, is rooted.
Thanks again.
With lollipop 5.1.1 the problem is solved for me, even without this workaround.

I'm having similar issues as you guys. I found out that my phone will only perform normally when I charge it with my laptop USB port which I think is around 0.5amps. Anything above that, even a 1amp charger would cause the phone to freeze, reboot and turn off and not turn back on. The phone has been in repair 4 times and the problem is still there. Now every night I'm forced to charge my phone with my laptop which takes an age instead of the fast charger that came out of the box.
Currently my phone is still freezing and rebooting when I'm out and about and the only way I can get it to perform normally is when I plug it into my laptop. This normal functioning would only last whilst the phone is plugged in.

Phone reboots after fully charging on MIUI11

Hello,
I'm experiencing issue after MIUI11 update. Every morning after overnight charge fingerprint and pin unlock no longer work(so pretty much I can't access phone launcher), and then I hold power button and after 30 seconds phone reboots itself. I did not experience this issue on MIUI10. Did anyone experienced something like this and know fix for it ? I still did not try to do factory reset. I tried to figure out why it freeze but logcat don't say anything interesting and things like /proc/last_kmsg are not accessible without root. If anyone know how I could find reason for this freeze please let me know.

System UI error and overall interface lagged after update to Android 10

Hi guys, first of all, I came from miui 11.0.6.0 global stable rom and rooted with magisk. I update my note 7 to android 10 global stable version which release recently via "choose update package" in the setting. Everything works perfectly until I boot it up and got "System UI error" pop-up. After clicking wait, the UI restarted but its getting worst. Everything I did even locking the screen was sluggish. So in the end I change back to my original rom and unfortunately, my phone lags too but no error pops up. Trying to clear cache and even clearing the system via orangefox and reinstall the OS but it still lag. Wonder if anyone have the same issue and has solved it?

Stuck on dark mode
I successfully installed the Android 10 OTA update on my Redmi Note7 about two hours ago, however, my phone has been stuck on dark mode ever since.
The toggle isn't activated from quick settings, neither is it switched on from the display settings. This is happening despite my battery being at 68%. It only disable dark mode when I plug it in power outlet.
Please, who knows how I could fix this? I like dark mode but not during the day or in a well lit environment.
I've tried downloading the Themes for Telegram app, using the security app to scan as I read somewhere, heading into developer settings to make sure that dark theme isn't enabled, rebooted my phones a couple of days ago times, with and without charger charger plugged in. I should note that my status bar has been acting weird since I updated to MIUI 11 in January, like showing black icons and text on black background, and vice versa. And the battery icon not reflecting the actual battery status.
Someone help, please. This is getting to my nerves already. ??

I've resorted to doing that, but I have to first find a way to backup my app data. My concern, however, is that being that I don't have OrangeFox/TWRP already flashed and rooted, doing that now might lock me out, as I've read comments, on custom recovery threads, that flashing a custom recovery triggers password/PIN request, and formatting data is the only way past it.
My decision not to modify the phone is hitting me hard, now.
Fixed!
I only charge my battery fully every now and then. I don't usually leave it plugged in up to 90% even. Well, I decided to do that, yesterday—to fully charge it. And voila! At 90%, a notification came in that said something along the line of: 90% charged – features enabled (unrestricted)
The notification came from "Battery Saver" but not MIUI. Seems to be fragments of AOSP, can't say for certain, but when I tapped on the notification, it just opened a blank (white) screen. And trying to open the app info reveals it as the "Settings" app.
I had the hunch that it could be caused by remnants of AOSP—one of the first things I tried was use Nova launcher's activities shortcut to see if I could get an activity that points to AOSP battery saver. Then I also used "Hidden Settings For MIUI" to run advanced search for "battery" and "saver", but got no result.
I'll monitor to see if it would come back, in which case I'd try to clear settings app data, and hope that it'd get rid of it entirely.
MIUI 11 based on Android 10 has really got the phone performing nicely again, something MIUI 11 pie update wrecked. The update before this one, MIUI 11.0.6.0, was the worst OEM update I've ever had since I started using Android back in 2012. Just horrible performance, considering the specs of the phone.
