Faster shamu rom - Nexus 6 General

Hi there!
I broke my main phone, so nexus my daily driver again. And I was wondering what firmware is the fastest for now. Is android pie usable?
So i did some tests, maybe someone will be interested. I don't pretend that these tests are ideal, maybe they should have been done differently. I just share the results with you. So this is 3 points: 1 - antutu benchmark total score, CPU and GPU scores (not for all). 2 - time (in seconds) of cold start apps, there are google maps, opera, youtube. 3 - just my impressions of surfing UI.
Every time I set up phone the same (as new device, update only essential google services). All ROMs are last version (on post date) and tested with Francos Kernel.
Stock google firmware 7.1.1 - 1. Antutu total score 87218, CPU - 28808, GPU - 15845. 2. G maps - 7, Opera - 4.5, Youtube - 2.6 3. Working perfect.
Pure Nexus 7.1.2 - 1. Antutu total score 78437 2. G maps - 11.5, Opera - 7, Youtube - 5.5. 3. lags a little, not critical.
Lineage 15 8.1 - 1. Antutu total score 89129, CPU - 34635, GPU - 15803. 2. G maps - 8.2, Opera - 5.7, Youtube - 3.3. 3. Pretty fast almost like stock.
Lineage 16 9 - 1. Antutu total score 51110, CPU - 12170, GPU - 11277. 2. G maps - 8.5, Opera - 6.4, Youtube - 4.7. 3. Extremely lagging and freezing
Carbon 9 - 1. Antutu total score 85854, CPU - 29425, GPU - 15917. 2. G maps - 13.2, Opera - 7.8, Youtube - 5.3. 3. Lagging, but much better then Lineage 16
So I stopped at Lineage 15, I installed all my apps e.t.c. and for now - 1. Antutu - 102262. CPU - 44223 GPU - 15747. 2. G maps - 8.9. Opera - 5.6, Youtube -4.2. 3. start lagging a little, but usable.
Hope someone thought it was interesting. I apologize if I made mistakes, English isn't my native language, but I'm trying

I guess something is wrong with your test, as Carbon 9 uses Lineage's sources for shamu. So the score should be about the same.
How long did you wait after the flash? Was the device in thermal throtteling mode?
Edit:
Oh I just read, that you use Franco Kernel which isn't meant to be used on Lineage as it is outdated as hell.

Leaving Antutu scores aside, what i feel for my experience, is that Pure Nexus 7.1.2 still the most faster N6 rom.

[Q] new Soundhound lags terribly

Hi,
After today's update it is horrible to use the application. The lags are up to 6 seconds...
I run the latest RemPuzzle 7.3 with nFinity mc4 768/245 on demand
Do you know if there is more than one version of the app? (Maybe it's connected to the GPU, and market normally (on stock ROM) filters apps and shows only these that don't need GPU). Any other ideas?

Speed up your i9000 Tips Compilation

Hi everybody!
As i am pretty mad about the slow responsiveness of my i9000, i would like to have everybody to tell the world some tips to help each other in making this phone faster.
My tips:
Use KitKat, Slimrom if possible (SlimKat weekly)
Install mackay kernel, or his bigmem libs.
Use ES Task Manager to remove autorunning apps.
Even like this, i get slowness after a couple of days of use.
What are your tips ? Is it responsive ?
Cheerios!
Ok right now working faster with slimkat latest versión with semaphore Ruth live OC 104% and sd card read ahead at 1024.
Waaay smoother.
I hope it keeps like this a couple of days
Enviado desde mi GameBoy Color
nice to know that
Interesting topic :good:
Here's my tips:
ROM: Gamerzrom 4.0, altough I think "Mackay ICS 2014" it's the faster but it lacks some features as quick sms;
Kernel: "Devil4.3_galaxysmtd_20131022" with the following settings: Scheduler: SIO; dynamic fsync: off; governor: ondemand; min freq: 400MHz and max freq: 1000MHz; no OC; deep idle: off; smooth ui: on; sampling rate: 30000; up threshold: 50%; sampling down factor: 4step; eraly demand: off; RAM: 395mb; no zRAM; no swap; no KSM; (most of this settings are the default from gamerzrom)
Other settings: 16bit transparency: on; dithering: color band fix only;
Apps that help: "seeder 2.0" (rng service performance profile: light) and "greenify" (hibernate all apps except launcher and seeder);
Frozed apps with titanium backup: DSPmanager; ES file explorer; videoeditor; terminal emulator; trebuchet;
Launcher: Apex;
Ill try those settings and report back!

well my phone is lagging as hell too.Maybe ICS is the only solution to our problems?!?
I ve tried many 4.2 ,4.3 and 4.4 roms but after a month of use they all end up lagging even without any extra apps installed.
Can i install ics on top of kitkat or do i need to install gb stock first with odin?
Installing ICS on top of KK will cause bootloop. I think you need to flash GB with Odin (XWJVZ i.e.) then root it with Semaphore or CF-Root kernel. Then finally you can flash any higher Android builds by CWM. I prefer Mackay ICS 1.7. IMO the ROM with best performance. Good luck.

I don't know what's wrong with either of you people, but my i9000 is on KK 4.4.2 OmniROM Nightlies running alongside Semaphore 3.4.3s with Bigmem enabled (396 MB off and 408 MB on). Everything else is in my signature tab. Also, I've got 42 user apps in my phone (120 odd in total) but still smooth as butter.
Also, in Antutu I score 5400 without OC and 5900 at 110% Live OC.
For Smooth Kitkat on Galaxy i9000. Includes some basics as well.
1. Install Slimkat Weekly
2. Install Minimal Gapps (if required)
3. Remove Unnecessary System Apps with Slimsizer
Browser.apk and Chromebookmarksyncadapter.apk --> replace with lightweight browser eg. Lightning, Puffin or Naked browser
Gmail.apk, Email.apk and Exchange.apk --> Replace with K9Mail (OR keep just Gmail and forward everything from your Exchange Email)
Gallery.apk --> replace with lightweight gallery e.g. Quickpic (Camera still works fine)
Hangouts.apk --> Use normal messaging app
LatinIME.apk and UserDictionaryProvider.apk --> Replace with Swiftkey or Swype
NovaLauncher.apk --> replace with lightweight launcher e.g. Smart Launcher 2 (AND remove all animations from Launcher Settings)
Livewallpaperspicker.apk, phasebeam.apk, phototable.apk, visualizationwallpapers.apk --> Don't need fancy live wallpapers, otherwise get new phone
OTHERS that are safe to delete and you probably don't need (e.g. BasicDreams.apk, CloudPrint2.apk, Dashclock.apk, DSPManager.apk, HTMLViewer.apk, Music.apk, SlimIRC.apk, SoundRecorder.apk)
4. Get rid of animations. Go to Settings --> Developer Options and set 'Window Animation Scale' and 'Transition Animation Scale' to OFF. And set 'Animator Duration Scale' to 0.25x (to prevent the dialer keypad glitch).
5. Install Semaphore Manager from Playstore, then ensure LiveOC is 105%, Ondemand governor, Minimum 105Mhz, Maximum 1050Mhz, NOOP scheduler, and Bigmem is ticked (before reboot you must go to camera and ensure video is on 480p else it will force close on 720p)
6. Install Xposed Installer --> Add Bootmanager (highlight anything that don't have widgets or u don't need notifications from), and Greenify (hibernate anything that don't have widgets and u don't need notifications rom. Also, do not hibernate keyboard)
7. Wifi Advanced Settings --> Untick Scanning Always Available. Also ensure Location is on Battery Saving. Switch OFF Wifi, Bluetooth, and Location when you dont need it.
8. Settings --> Sound --> Untick Vibration on Touch and Touch Sounds (Also do this in your Keyboard Settings)
9. Accounts --> Untick syncing of items you dont need (e.g. Only tick contacts and gmail)
10. Settings --> Advanced Options --> MediaScanner behavior on boot --> Do Not Scan Media
11. Only install/restore apps you use frequently. Other Backup-Uninstall with Titanium Backup and Restore when required.
12. Keep widgets to a minimum
13. Restart your phone daily
Currently put CyanAOSP on an i9000 and it's running great. Overclocking to 1200Mhz seems to cause crashes though.
Switch kernel perhaps?
Currently on CM11 M5 snapshot with Semaphore 3.4.3 kernel, and its buttery smooth so far. M6 snapshot is giving UI crashes
OC Min @ 240 MHz and Max @ 1200 MHz, no crashes. SmartassV2 Governor, Smooth UI on, NOOP Scheduler, bigmems off, Deep Idle off, Touch wake on 30 sec
i ve just formated my phone back to stock 2.3.6 jw7 and root it with cf-root.I just cant believe how much smoother and faster gb is!
You guys should try the OmniROM+Neo Kernel Combination. You'll love it
PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTT, sent from my i9000
I prefer ICS, too, although it has more bugs than JB or KK...
It is not perfect, but in general useable!
Do not use the phone's features for performance. I think it's entirely relevant to the developer. With the rest of the kernel can handle.
Sorry bad English.
Up! Has anyone still use this phone and with a ROM? So yeah, how is it? Is there any tutorial of it?

Lollipop Bench Results and mini Review

Hi everyone,
I just download the OTA of Lollipop on my Shield Tablet. Here the results of many benchs. Lollipop update work great, but has less options than Kitkat. Unfortunately, Power management disappear. I hope Nvidia reintegrated it later. I had a bug in Riptide GP2, the jet ski leans to the left , you can not recalibrate. Wifi seem to be stronger than KitKat.
Edit : Power management Shield found, it's hidden in battery menu, bouton option=>Power management Shield. But it's much less complete than Kitkat(No framelimite, no personnal profil)
Edit 2 : Orientation Fixed after a calibration with Gps status & toolbox.
Antutu : + (+1000~1500 points)
CF Bench : +(1000 points and % much higher)
Quadrant : +(Too much x) )
Sunspider : - (between 30ms to 70 ms)
Geek Bench 3 : =
3D Mark : =
Gfx bench : + (driver overhead +11%), - (fillrate -6,4%)
Vellamo : ? (Can't compare)
Android : + (JVM - ~300 ms)
Add Vellamo and Android Bench

Faster 32Gb emmc memory than the Wifi version!
The old power management options are still there, but are even more hidden than the ones you found.
Create a Settings Shortcut widget, choose Power saving, and you'll find all the old options there under Shield power control.
Lte version with Lollipop.
Shield 16Go Wifi, no root, no tweak, CPU set to Nvidia Optimized mode. Pcmark result :
Same test with CPU set to max performance :

I think it's hidden for some reason. A no power-user can't find this. Hope this option come back in settings in next update.
Thanks everyone for your report
Root needed for this?

set up PPSSPP

Hi,
recently i found PSP emulator called PPSSPP. Well, it's awesome cause playing PSP games on Xperia feels so natural.
It's still new project so not everything is working, and you could want few more options (like using Xperia Play analogs) but you can play most games.
Of course Xperia Play is old and slow, so we need change few options. Here is link to full guide about PPSSPP settings:
http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=5352
If someone is not interested in reading it, i will post shorter version:
-Rendering Mode - Non-Buffer Rendering
-frameskip - 1
-Postprocessing shaders - Off
-Rendering resolution - 1xPSP
-Hardware Transform - On
-Software skinning - on
-Low quality spline / bezier curves (speed up) - On
-Texture Scaling - Off
-Anistropic Filtering - Off
-Texture Fiter - On
-Change CPU Clock - 60
I think this options are vital, few of them i choosed basing on my experience.
My phone is Xperia Play
Hyper Gamer rom 1.5 with kernel
1,9 GHz clock
1GB swap Ram, 40 swapiness.
With this settings i can play FF VII Crisis Core at full speed almost all the time. No lags and pure pleasure.
Of course, I don't know if this are best options, post your settings and ideas
ppsspp work on mmx a110
Sent from my Micromax A110
I realize you are posting settings that works for you, which is appreciated as those might work better for other users. That being said there is a dedicated thread here for xperia play.

stock ROM, or custom?

Hello folks.
I will soon have an S5 in my possession. I've never owned a Samsung phone before, so my first question is - should I stick w/ the stock ROM (I understand the most recent version for this phone is 6.0.1), or should I install a custom? Are there any serious drawbacks with the stock ROM (bloatware, etc)? What improvements would I see with a custom ROM?
Thanks.

Hi,
it really depends of what are you looking for. If you want to get the latest features and updates, go Custom.
if you only use your phone to make calls, take nice photos, Games, etc. Stay in Original, although, you have some Debloated 6.0.1 ROMs that do the work just fine.
Cheers,
My S5 is the Sprint (G900P, Snapdragon) variety. Is there a default/easiest root method? Is there a preferred recovery to use?
Thanks.
Way to go is custom ROM, and that mostly due to bloatware.
ROM, root, recovery are personal choices dependent of your wishes/needs.
And S5 is rich with choices. For some reason, I was/am happy with stock ROM.
So I see a lot of reading in your future...
I am owning the GS5 for 1.5 year or so, and I can't remember how many times I have returned back to stock after 2-3 days of custom. I don't know why, I am just a random user who is using phone for social media and calls. Rarely playing any games but any ROM I tried it had some problems which I couldn't keep.
Performance and feature --> go with custom ROM. Have a good adventure..!
Stability and battery life --> always.. stock ROM

Easiest with Magisk. TWRP recovery recommended.
ive got the tmobile version and love the thing. im on lineage 14.1 and its stable as crap. can use the sd card as adptive storage and that opens alot of room up.

Best stock..? Stock is stock lol. Anyway, I'm using Boeffla Kernel on stock ROM and did the following things to get better battery life without actually compromising my phone:
1. In Boeffla Config under CPU I set the maximum clock speed to 1728 MHz, selected "Optimized" as Hotplug profile, selected "Aggressive" as Multicore powersave and selected "undervolt -75mV" as UV Profile.
2. In Boeffla Config under GPU I set the minimum clock speed to 27 MHz.
3. I've bought and installed Amplify (needs Xposed to work) and have limited the following wakelocks all to 600 seconds:
- GCoreFlp
- *net_scheduker*
- Wakeful StateMachine: GeofencerStateMachine
- LocationManagerService
- SyncLoopWakeLock
- Icing
- NfcService:mRoutingWakeLock
- NlpWakeLock
- NetworkStats
- StartingAlertService
- GpsLocationProvider
- AudioIn
- NlpCollectorWakeLock
**Under 'Alarms' I've limited the following alarm: com.android.internal.telephony.data-stall again to 600 seconds.
4. I've bought and installed Greenify and have the following apps set to automatically hibernate on screen-off:
- Blackmart
- Instagram
- Facebook Lite
- Peel Remote
- Spotify
- Video Player (stock one)
- Notes (stock one)
**The selected mode is 'Root + Boost (Xposed)', 'Automatic hibernation' is ticked, 'Extras for Geek' is also ticked, everything under 'Xposed based options' is also ticked and 'Wake-up Tracking and Cut-off' is also allowed.
5. Other than that I have Auto-Sync off unless phone is charging (using Tasker for this), WiFi at home, Bluetooth on only when I need it, GPS on power saving unless I need it on high accuracy (again, Tasker), no power saving mode activated, mobile data is set to 2G/3G mode (no 4G as I don't need it anyway, YouTube is fine on 3G so it's enough for me), Screen Rotation is on, Smart Stay is on, Multi Window is on, Increased sensitivity is on. I also have my 5 most used apps always open in RAM (Telegram, Whatsapp, Poweramp, Gallery-not stock one, Facebook Messenger Lite).
I'm still testing but the phone feels significantly cooler than before and I think battery life is actually noticably better than before, yet the phone works as it should (I don't play games or run super heavy apps).
