I figured that this could be interesting. Not the greatest camera ever, but I've found that it can do quite well with help from apps.
Here's one taken with Night Camera at high res.

Reviews of the note 4 display with the proper color saturation setting are supposedly the best out there to date on any device.
Why would you need to adjust it?

On my calibrated desktop 27" pc display, I see 9 if I try really hard with my nose in the screen. On my note 4, I see 11.
(I'm a digital artist, and use my desktop for 3d graphics content creation.)
Considering the display of the image on my note is 1/2 the the size of it on my pc monitor, I think that's pretty good.
(I also have my note set on the more vibrant video settings)
Typically you only get gamma access (if you can even get it) with root.
My nexus 7 2013 with root JUST got gamma adjustment tools 2 or 3 months ago, and it's going on 18 months old.
---------- Post added at 02:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:34 PM ----------
Using this gamma adjustment test, my note looks near perfect.
Did you tried in a dark room? if yes, your monitor is bad.
Then why does the second gamma test pattern work perfectly?
Never try only one gamma test pattern.

Any news? Youtube is quite unusable in dark scenes. Note 3 is way better.
Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Asus ZenFone 4 Max come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).

Adequate, but not great. HDR helps.
missing some additional camera modes. plus the photo quality, even when set to hdr or pro, has a lot of noise in it.
hoping for a software update fix.
Nah. The photo quality sucks. Thought it decent b4 bought this. Now discover it has lot of noise and it can compare with $50 phone. My mistake

After updating to latest firmware, the picture quality is decent, some noise in corner but not disturbing, the saturation is good, the detail is good but the dynamic range just a little improve. It was shot in evening, low light, wide angle lens. Over all is good, not expect more than this.

The main purpose of its 1/5" sensor is clarity, sharpness and outdoor photo, so for the best result, we can get pretty decent picture from this wide angle lens if we shoot object on outdoor, like this.
Note : the barrel is strong in corner, even for 12mm fl.
---------- Post added at 03:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:23 PM ----------
The noise start appear in low light condition or indoor use, but the color seems vivid, although the dynamic range is not as good as outdoor shot. You still can capture some nice picture with its super wide lense but not recommended for fast shot because the shutter speed start lowering itself and boost iso in order to record more light in sensor, it is likely because the sensor size of wide angle lens is tinny.

The Gcam photos on all 3 rear lenses are far sharper than what the LG software can produce, almost like a different phone. The wide camera pictures from LG software when you zoom in is blurry and like an oil painting effect. The Gcam reveals far more detail and sharpness.
Anyone else feel the same?
Which Gcam version are you using? I don't notice much difference unless I'm using the Night Sight feature.
