Stock camera app quality

Hi,
Have you taken pictures with another camera app than stock?
Camera MX (free on the store)

Stock camera
Seems the quality of the pics taken by the stock app is not as good as the other.
I've found that in the market they all have their pros and cons and that the differences are variable depending upon the circumstance, but the camera certainly isn't the feature to be bragged about on this phone. I've found that one of the ports of the Nexus 4 camera produces the best results most consistantly on my handset. I've also often wondered if my handset got the short end of the stick with the camera it has since a lot of other people are happy with the quality they get out of their RAZR HD, though I'm coming from a Galaxy S 2 which takes wonderful shots in comparison to some of the phones out now despite it now being an old phone model. Its the one thing I really miss about the S2.
On a tangent, I played around with a Galaxy S 4 today and did a bit of camera testing. Single shot stuff. I didn't find that it was all that much better than the S3 or S2 for taking single snapshots. The anti-shake setting worked but not quite as well as on the previous devices, for example. That was really all I could test though, since they always have great lighting when you're looking at phones. Quality is quality, but I'm not convinced 13 megapixels is better than 8 the way Samsung implemented 8 on the previous devices. To be fair though, I had it at 9.5 megapixels. 13 restricts you to a 4:3 shot.
I'll have to try out Camera MX now
thanks for the heads up, just tested it out and it does seem a little sharper, plus the FX options are pretty cool too

Are there any "hacks" for the stock cam in the build prop or media xml where one might tune a little parameters of e.g. jpg quality?

Two Cameras are Better than One: How the Dual-Camera Setup on the Honor 8 Works

How the Dual-Camera Setup on the Honor 8 Really WorksDual lens cameras seem to be the way of the future. We are seeing many smartphone companies make the switch to the two-lens setup. In this thread, I'll go over exactly how the cameras in the Honor 8 really work and why it's better than a traditional single-lens camera.
What do the Sensors do?

RGB Sensor
The RGB sensor is designed to capture rich true-to-life colors.
Monochrome Sensor
The Monochrome sensor is dedicated to giving your photos increased sharpness and capturing more light.
Having dedicated lenses for different sensors allows for much higher quality photos. Here are some photos taken with the Honor 8, to show off the color and detail quality of this camera.
Hybrid Auto-FocusWhen reading about the hybrid focus, the Honor website states
The hybrid auto-focus enables laser focus for short range, precise depth focus for long range, and contrast focus — each working together to help you take better pictures in complex lighting conditions day and night.

I found this being a nice benefit in "complex lighting" situations. In photos with very dark and light spots, typically a camera will have to accommodate one or the other, leaving one part of the photo lacking detail. Here are some photos of situations with bright lights and dark shadows. Notice how everything is even and very detailed.
Dual ISPThe image signal processor is in charge of the autofocus, exposure and white balance. The built-in dual ISP improves the speed of the focus and process time when you're taking photos. This makes snapping high quality photos quick and easy, by removing time spent focusing your shot.
In conclusion, two lenses are definitely better than one and the Honor 8 does this very well.

Played with it for 20min

I thought the screen size compared to my 10 plus would be relatively indiscernible but it really looks quite bigger . Wierd.
I returned the s20U because of the camera issues especially with the main 108 megapixels. This phone completely nails it. I took pictures from all different angles and all different zooms and they were really superb.
Much as I love my 10 plus screen clarity the 20 Ultra really seems to top it.
Here's another weird thing I tested the speed of it on a speed test and it was 256 ms down.
then tested the 10-plus in the store and it was 489 ms down! I tested it twice the 10+: 400+ ms down.
What the hell's with that ?!

A speed test on what? The in store wifi? How did you connect your phone to the in store wifi for the devices on display?

Exactly, so many reasons this could be the case, even cases, phone orientation, is one on 2.4Ghz wifi and one on 5Ghz, if on 5G/LTE are they both on the same mode, etc.
I want someone to point the Note 20 Ultra camera at their current phone with a black background and white text to see if the "across the frame" focal uniformity issues that the S20 Ultra has - are fixed!
Never have I had a phone camera with a frustration level so high in being able to easily and quickly capture text on a computer screen before! I shouldn't have to use pro mode and MF and zoom and do best guess on peaking to hope it looks decent. Readable? Yes, but I'm used to text in photos looking like the original.
My lowly Nexus6 and Droid Turbo take better pics in this regard FFS! :-|

OPPO Find X5 Pro Unboxing (OPPO Ambassador)

Here's a quick look at unboxing the OPPO Find X5 Pro and initial first impressions of this Snapdragon 8GEN1 flagship phone.

The phone comes with a Super VOOC 80W charger that in my tests will charge the Find X5 Pro to 100% in around 37 minutes from empty. We also get a TPU case in grey, sim tray eject tool, premium services card, and type-A to type-c USB cable.
The finish of the Find X5 Pro is superb, the ceramic back especially the form of the camera module looks fantastic to me one of the best camera modules of recent Android flagships.
The QHD+ LTPO2 screen is super bright over 1000 nits measured, it holds up well in direct sunlight and is very legible.
A quick test of a very demanding console & PC port Genshin Impact shows the SD8Gen1 performs well, but a dip in performance was quite noticeable after gaming for extended periods. The surface thermals remained under 43 degrees as the phone was throttled to keep the temperatures in check.
ColorOS 12.1 runs is fluid with no noticeable animation lags unlike some other Android 12 phones tested like the S22 Ultra (Exynos) or Xiaomi 12 Pro.
Initial first impressions:
Pros:
Very good build and finish with a sleek looking camera module
Great low light camera performance thanks to the Marisilicion NPU and colour profile from Hasselblad
Stunning QHD+ screen and accurate fingerprint reader
Fast stable UI with no noticeable animation lag
One of the best ultrawide cameras tested
Cons:
Video audio is quite poor, OPPO needs to address this. Low bitrate of 96kbps
It's expensive at around 1300 euros here in Spain
Shutter lag in some scenarios means moving objects will be blurred
