Hi everyone, Titanium says "failed to locate apk", system apps remover shows it deletes the app but after reboot it's still there. I used Mixplorer to go to root /system/apps to find YouTube but it wasn't there. Then went to /data/app found YouTube, deleted and rebooted into a bootloop. What's the way to delete system apps on 10? Thanks.

Google made changes in Q that prevents /system from being mounted.
The Magisk way to do this is to use a module like [MODULE][Terminal] Debloater v17.3.2 - Debloat Systemlessly.
This works by putting an empty file in place of the app you are removing. It doesn't actually reclaim any system space.
Otherwise, you can use ADB to disable apps. My guess is that TiBu will freeze apps also.

Hi all, i have a strange problem with 5.0.1 factory image...
After root with wug toolkit it cannot open the busybox installer app.
Supersu seems to be installed...device seems to be rooted...
Manually reinstall busybox installer seems to work...after deleting system apps to generate free space in /system...
But if i reboot android dysplays: actualising apps.....
And after that again the busybox installer app cannot be opened...
Anyone else have seen this strange behaviour??

Hello.
I have no problems with bb or free space.
But I have deleted YouTube and maps from priv-app folder from system partition to free space and also try setting selinux to permissive. It might denials some things.
Well...the problem is, that you have to root first before you are able to remove system apps...i also removed some apps..free space 60 mb....but nevertheless the above described behaviour occured...
I can't delete any system apps with it anymore, does anybody else have the same problem or even a fix for it?
Working fine on 6.01 for me, Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling it?
I just updated to 6.0.1 myself, rooted using superSU 2.61. I too cannot delete system apps using titanium. I tried to uninstalled and reinstall the app (via playstore) but it didn't help.
I also tried to do the same via the root explorer option in ES file explorer and it didn't work. I tried to toggle the root explorer option in ES, but after I turned it off I couldn't turn it on again. Root checker does say that I have root, and other root apps e.g. adaway, xprivacy still work.
Any help and suggestion is most welcome!

hey guys, "system less root"
That would modify system... Just freeze the apps.

Some people still want to recover the space.
With systemless root you will need to modify the system in TWRP to get titanium and ES working correctly.
It's as simple as going into TWRP and mounting the system R/W.
You then need to open the terminal in the following places:
/system/bin and execute "touch su"
/system/xbin and execute "touch su"
This will create zero byte files for SuperSu to come along and swap/link to on boot so that ES and TiBu can ask for root and get it.
They will then operate as you expect.; with the caveat that you are on your own when you start tinkering and may break something.

Pretty sure you lose Android Pay with this method though, just FYI if you care about that.
But if you are running Xposed you broke it anyway. There is a way to get it working.
You will need to remove the empty su files you just created to be able to add cards.
You will need to use a Xposed module to hide modifications to the system so that the device check comes back clean.
It's a pain, but if you want Xposed, TiBu, ES and Android Pay, that is the price.

I usually use this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp
I'm not on 6.0.1 at the moment so I can't test if it works. Anyone wanna test it out and report back?

Doesn't work. Apps restore themselves.
Hi.
I am new to this rooting and stuff. I got my pixel 4 rooted with magisk manager. (To activate motion sense). But now i am trying to convert user app to system app And it doesn't work. I have tried link2sd,system app mover even use fx file explorer to paste the app in /system/app. It just doesn't work.
Also tried with magisk module systemizer, the app get transferred to system but that app only crashes.
What to do? Am i doing something wrong?

I can't say anything about the mentioned magisk module because i don't use it.
But i think your system is ready-only as it is by many other phone nowadays and that is probably the problem. For example i can't modify system on my pixel 4 xl because it is mount as read-only (and i have installed Magisk, too)
That's the main reason why Magisk is the root tool nowadays: it works systemless so it doesn't need to touch the system partition.
I know some apps could mount the system as read-write in the past and i think adb could do this too theoretically.
But i can't give you detailed steps because i didn't need to mount my system as read-write in the past.
I have had the Oneplus 5 for many years. After each update of OxygenOS I uninstalled some system apps (Chrome Google Photos, Gmail, Google Movies etc) in Solid Explorer (with root access).
But, since the update to OxygenOS 10.0.0 with Android 10 this does not work anymore. Solid Explorer says that the app has been deleted, but after a reboot it is still there.
When I try to uninstall one of the apps with Titanium Backup, the message "Cannot remove system app. Failed to locate the apk file."
Does anyone have an idea how to permanently uninstall and delete system apps?
Thanks!

On Android 10 it's not possible anymore to delete system apps directly from OS, even with root access. You must use Titanium for show the path of apps you want deleted, system apps are located on :
system/system/app
system/system/priv-app
Go in recovery TWRP
> mount Cache, System, Vendor, Persist, Data, Firmware partitions
> Advanced > File Manager > system/system/priv-app/Gmail > "Folder" button on right bottom > Delete
Do the same thing for all apps that you want deleted.
Actually,it does get deleted from a root explorer, however, few apps have symlinks as well, or few apps have stubs as well. Hence those may invoke reinstallation automatically. Those are the ones which need to be deleted permanently from recovery (especially).
As you have discovered, several apk files are system linked and so every reboot will bring them back. To counter this I use the xXx debloat script. The module is flashed in Magisk and allows one to select which apps and services you want removed. Here is a link to the module on xda: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82391573&postcount=2.
You can flash the module with stock settings or make a custom profile as I did.
I have a question or two...
1) Is it ok to convert Chrome and Google Maps from system to user apps in android 10?
2) Will first deleting the app using TWRP, then install it from Playstore convert the app from a system to a user app?
Good morning
It's my first post, but xda saved my phone many times these years and now I've a new problem and can't find a solution.
I'm just trying to move an app (fakegps) in System/priv-app with:
Link2sd and superusers by magisk, error like "mount: '/system' not in /proc/mounts"
Systemize by magisk module and Termux with superuser, but it doesn't work
Moving directly the app folder in system/priv-app changing permission (like other priv-app) to folder and app with the best manager "MiXplorer Silver" but rebooting the system will freeze to boot logo.
Now i've flashed stock firmware global (twrp for mi9t european version can't see system folder) and now when it freeze I just delete the app folder from priv-app to unlock the phone, but the problem is still the same... is there a working way to move an app to priv-app in Xiaomi Mi 9T?
Your point of this post is that u want to make an installed app in your data to a system one ? move it into system/app not priv-app
Yes, in system/app the app works, but for expert mode of fakegps I need to put it in priv-app...
