After finger print unlocking my Mi9T I have to finger print unlock separately Messages and the dialer apps to use them.
Is this usual or have I done something I shouldn't have in the settings?
Thanks for any advice you guys can give.
Try going to the Security app and see if App Lock is on under the utilities page

Settings>Location & Security> Change Screen Lock>Fingerprint Security
go through the paces then when you push the unlock button, slide your finger over it when the screen comes on

Thank you guys. You helped me out tonight!
Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone knew why the feature where you can hover your finger over the screen doesn't work on my GS4. On the lock screen you can see the little dot when you hover over but it doesn't work on camera, texts, gallery, etc.
THANKS EVERYONE!

Turn Air view on?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
You have to go to Air View settings and enable it for other situations.

Air view only works on selected apps, basically the Samsung apps (Samsung email, gallery, browser, messaging), it doesn't work with all apps (which kinda sucks)

Enable information preview, and also don't forget it will hover the content only when the data displayed doesn't fits the screen fully.

Also..
I had it turned on, but it wasn't working.
Turns out the sensor gets dirty, or dusty or whatever.. just clean it up with your finger or paper towel.. , and it should work again.

Try testing it with the Try command on each function.
If it works you have nothing to worry about.
You can also test it with *#0*# > TSP Hovering..
I like to leave my phone unlocked 90% of the time.
Does anyone know if there's an exposed module out there that will let me quickly toggle between the swipe (or no lock screen) and the fingerprint lock screen?
Doing it through setting is a PITA when you've got to enter your alternate password every time.
I would like to just be able to lock the phone on a one time basis.
That's a nice idea. May be someone will make it in future..
But for now I think, there's no app or mod available yet.
I think the no lock home xposed module may be suitable for you but it cannot be set to time ulnock only wifi connection, bluetooth device or cell signal. I hope I could help.

Hello,
It's not what you need but a good alternative is to use FingerSecurity from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...fingersecurity-fingerprint-lock-apps-t2818896
which has a widget on/off.
You can set any app to protect (settings as well) by fingerprint security and just active protection by widget.
So your phone won't be locked, but any app of your choice will
Best regards
Franky
someone mentioned before about nfc wearable's for locking and unlock the ngc rings are pretty cheap
would this help:

This is the closets thing I've found that works. Just wish there was a way to "select all" instead of locking app by app.
The location or NFC ones don't work for me...

You really don't need to secure all apps.
Settings, gallery, sms, mail, file manager, all that can explore your phone, really easy to do.
Nice work

It's a viable solution, just not the most elegant.
I would rather lock the whole phone, but this does the job for now.
Wonder how hard it would be to make something like that?

In fact, I'm really stupid.
The solution you need is here, in front of us
Just protect your home launcher by fingerprints, and use widget on/off on home screen.
When active, and when you'll screen on, your launcher will be protected, so your phone will be "locked"
(Only thing you need to do is to come back on home screen before screen off, if not, last open app will appear if not protected.)
Enjoy
Franky
I have recently got ink effect to work on my note 4, all you need is Montblanc app from samsung app store, nova launcher, then create shortcut on home screen select popupui and Montblanc. And there you have it
Screenshot
I don't have an option for popupui...?
The effect is only available for swipe screen unlock

Ohhhh okay, thanks. I got it working now and darekz is right, it's only for swipe unlock. Bummer, I wish there was some way to set it to work with fingerprint unlock. Like maybe make the ink billow up from the bottom of the screen when you swipe your finger. That would be cool

Your welcome and yeah that would be great with fingerprint but only time can tell,
I'd like to keep fingerprints to use with App Lock and such but without using the lockscreen. Any way to keep them?
I also want this, so it works like a password for apps
but I don't like to unlock my phone at all, just swipe on the lockscreen
I searched a lot, found another thread someone wanted this too
but nobody understood him, they thought he wants only Fingerprint without pin?
but why is it not possible to use Fingerprint (and backup pin or password) ONLY for applock, and not on the lockscreen

In addition to the FP, use on body detection and face unlock.
That should reduce if not eliminate the need to unlock the phone manually.

But then I can't swipe on the lockscreen, there's no lock at all, so if I was previously in whatsapp I would be instantly online, instead of just reading messages on the lockscreen

Try using the app No Lock :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.jraf.android.nolock&hl=en_US
I don't use the FPR,or,any lockscreen for that matter,so,IDK if this will work.
I used it on other phones where you had to use at minimum a swipe to open & it bypassed that requirement, perhaps it'll do the same in this situation.

It was only a suggestion.
I don't mind a lock screen on my phone.
I want my phone to lock.

Thanks for the suggestion. Tried it, but still have to swipe to get in. I'm not sure of other OS' but TouchWiz allowed for it. I'll write OnePlus Dev's to hopefully include it on an update. Also, native rear flash notification since we don't have a led for it.
