I decided to buy an android HU and these two are my choices
ERISIN ES6405
OR
XTRONS PB86MTVAP
Their specs, as well as their price, seem to be similar. The only differances are that the Erisin has 26.4 GB of internal storage, whlie the Xtrons has 32 GB and that the erisin has the typical VW layout with physical buttons, while the xtrons has touch only ones.
Which one you believe is the best, in terms of quality, output, support etc.?

i think erisin is more common and likely to have morge / better support
I have the same problem, not sure which one to choose. Also, those models are Volkswagen-specific, and I own a Skoda Octavia II 2006. I think it will work, but not sure 100%.
Erisin ES6405V
Erisin ES6698V
Xtrons PB86MTVAP
Apparently the three models have the same chipset: Rockchip PX5 – RK3368 (octacore) though the Xtrons does not specifically states it.
Spanish erisin reseller told me that Xtrons models have better quality than Erisin ones. Anyway, I dont like the Xtrons model since it does not have physical buttons. Between the other two, I'd go for the 6405v since it has 8" instead of 7".
Regarding the dimensions of the head unit to fit my car, I have a fascia front plate that replaces the original one to fit a Columbus RNS510 original nav, which according to google, has:
Front face plate at the widest point is 218 x 128. Rear is 178 x 110 with a depth behind the facia 189.
Which is very close to the dimensions of the erisin head unit, so looks pretty standard for all navs for the VW group.
Hi, I’ve just purchased and installed the Xtrons PB86MTVAP Head unit into my 2010 Skoda Octavia. Installation went fine although it was tricky to loom all the wires and find a suitable route for the USB cables.
Overall I’m very impressed with the HU, the screen is nice and the stock launcher and Apps are very intuitive. A few niggles I have is;
When I’m in the FM radio app and I find a station, I long press on the pre-set to store it but when I turn off the HU and take the key out they all reset?
When using the DAB radio which I have the extra unit for, when I’m in the app and playing a DAB radio channel its perfect, but when I come out of the App and leave it playing in the background it stutters and is unlistenable.
I also need to keep an eye on battery drain, as when I turn it off and leave the car then come back the next day it doesn’t boot up from cold, it literally takes 2 seconds which I wasn’t expecting.

Octavia 2010 is still a Octavia II? (maybe the facelift they made in 2010 for the O2).
Do you have a fascia front plate to adapt the unit to the Columbus RNS510?
What's the chipset of the head unit? Is the PX5?
Any photos?
The USB ports I think the best way is to route them to the ash tray.

Yes it’s the facelift model on a 10 plate, Columbus shape faceplate is on order but I’ve only gone for an aftermarket ebay one for now, until I can source an original Skoda one for a reasonable price.
Both USBs I’ve routed inside the dash to the end where the end cap comes off, 1 of them has the DAB aerial going to the window the other will have a stick which I’ll fill up with media and it’ll permanently live inside there, it can be changed if needed by taking the end cap off.
I have no idea on the chipsets sorry and I can sort pictures over the weekend, I need to sort this pre-set radio stations issue, I believe I need to swap round the live wires in the ISO connector. (red and yellow wires)

I think you can see the chipset on the settings menu or using cpu-z.

If you dont mind, take a picture of the power connector, Erisin reseller does not guarranty the 6405 model will be compatible with my car, so i am wondering on buying a PB86MTVAP.
Where did you buy it? How long did it take to arrive where?
I have it all installed now, was a bit of a ***** losing all the loom of wires behind the dash so won't be able to take a picture of the connector sorry.
Played with the wiring the other night to try and sort the radio losing my preset stations, but I managed to drain the battery over night so put it back!
Other than the radio I'm really happy with the unit, got mine from xtrons UK, arrived the next day. When I get a minute I'll take some pictures, just missing a new facia trim on back order from skoda.
Looks like Xtrons has reseased another unit for the VAG group: PB96MTVAPL, its like a PB86MTVAP without DVD, with a higher screen 9" vs 8" and a little bit cheaper. Also, I see no SD slots, though the webpage states it has.
Hi, I'm considering the x trons PB86MTVAP, does anyone know which chipset this comes with? I'm a little concerned that it isn't listed on the website.

Hi there,
If you are a girl will choose the design ... I'm kidding ...
The most important things are the specifications of the 1. Main board (integrates all the components, can limit some characteristics of components and the speed) 2. Processor (this set the power speed with less power consumption so I recommend octa-core) 3. Memory (much with higher speed better I recommend 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM with right speed) 4. Display (HD 1024x600 minimum) 5. Access for external devices like Rear CCD IR View Camera night-vision waterproof, DVR Full-HD night-vision camera for traffic recording, SD card for mp3 audio and mp4 video files, SD card for GPS maps and installation files, USB connectors, antennas for GPS and radio, the right power connector for your car (carefull), bluetooth for your mobile phone (check depending of your android or IOS if work) and the most important check the REAL DIMENSIONS to can fit in your car and fix it well to can not easy be take out from somebody (you need have also the right KEYS put in the 4 holes for the right installation). Maybe are also other extra but they are not so important believe me ...
Best regards,
Maybe you don't need to have all the best specifications (depending for what you want to use) because the payment will be higher
Hi everyone, I’m new to this forum. I know a bit about Volvo (the older ones!), and Volvo head units, but not about Chinese Android head units.
I’m considering replacing the aging head unit of my (also aging!) 2002 Volvo V70. The head unit is a simple HU 603, so no Dolby, center speaker or extra amplifier. I’m looking at Xtrons TA702P (quad core) or TB706PL (octa core). I prefer a 7 inch touch screen, no knobs, no DVD. But navi should be good, as would radio. Music I can play through usb. And my Elephone S7 (Android 7.1) phone should mirror on the unit if possible.
Other functions like back up camera or steering wheel control are not important to me.
I know how to take the HU 603 out. I know I need an adapter harness to connect with the new unit. And a fascia adapter. All that is available.
My questions:
Xtrons has many car/model specific head units (not for Volvo). They have Canbus decoders supplied with the unit. Not so for the TA702P or the TB706PL. Will that give problems? (The answer from the ebay seller is somewhat useless: ‘Both the TB706PL and the TL702P does not come with the canbus so that you just ignore it.’) Anyone has experience with this?
How are user experiences with these modern Xtrons units? I know, ‘you get what you pay for’, I know that. But still, worth the money?
Units from Kenwood or Pioneer are other options, but again, is it worth it?
Thanks!
Hi there
I own and drive a V70 from 2006. I have replaced the original HU with a SONY 2 DIN unit (XAV-V630BT). This unit has great sound. I also swapped the speakers to JBL. It is totally worth it.
I have a CANbus to resistor unit. This makes it possible to use the steering wheel buttons.
Right now i am testing a Android HU. Unfortunately i have bought the wrong one. The unit is full of bad design choices. The sound integration in the unit is bad. I think that radio, BLUETOOTH and AUX sound runs directly to the sound processor. This means that when the Android unit plays a sound, the sound from the other units are turned off. In my opinion the other source should just fade a little.

Hi there
As said, I don't need steering wheel controls, my steering wheel doesn't even have the buttons. Must have been a cheapskate first owner!
Does this mean the Canbus only affects steering wheel control? So ignoring Canbus (no resistor as in your case), will give no problems?
And yes, by now I've found out Android units may not have the best sound quality. Or radio reception.

Hello guys!
So, I have a 2005 Audi A4 B7 and I'm thinking about buying an android head unit for my car. So far I have found 2 head units that look somewhat like the factory one, or that I like. They both have Android 8.0 / 8.1, Quad-Core with 2GB of RAM. Now, are these chinese head units generally worth it? I'm really concerned about sound quality (I have an aftermarket amplifier and subwoofer installed). Now I have a Kenwood head unit and the sound output is decent, can't really complain (better than factory radio).
And I have a few questions.
One of the units is made by Mekede (the factory look-alike) and the other one is made by Wondefoo. Has anyone had any previous experience with these 2 makers?
Also, I do not see an AUX IN on these chinese head units. Do the have one? Is it possible to have one? I'd much rather play music over BT, but is generally the connection stable?
Seeing as they are Android, am I able to install 3rd party apps, such as Vanced YouTube ? Or Waze (or any other app that does not come preinstalled) ?
Generally speaking, how is the boot up time on these units?
They both cost around $210. Are they too cheap? Should I try and save up more? Look for other makers? Most of the times I'm going to be listening to music (either via USB, BT - or any way it can be connected to my phone; or YT) while, sometimes, using Google Maps / Waze. Are these cheap android head units generally laggy when multi-tasking? Does it really matter which one I buy, as they're all "cheap chinese products"?
Here are the links to the units:
1. Mekede
2.Wondefoo
Or if you guys could recommend me another one which really is worth the money, it'd be appreciated. I'd like it to have volume knobs, and the factory look-alike is a plus.
I am sorry if these questios have been asked before!
Thank you!
One thing to keep in mind - RAM amount. 1GB of RAM is not enough for these units. I'd recommend 4GB of RAM, but make sure you get at least 2GB of RAM for sure (and even that may not be enough).
Try to find a unit with PX5 (octa-core) or PX6 processor and 4GB of RAM, if possible. Android 8.0 or 8.1.
In terms of sound quality, I too was concerned. I ended up rooting and installing Viper4Android and the sound quality is great. I'm using an extenral amp, but the internal amp sounded good with V4A as well. Viper4Android gives you a LOT of flexibility in customizing the sound to your liking.

Must be a PX5 or PX6 ? Most of the sellers don't list their processor model, just listing it as "octa-core". I'm aware that V4A can give you a lot of flexibility in sound customization (I've used it on my phone for a while)
Do these head units integrate well with the CAN ?
Here are the more technical names (may help identify them):
PX3: Cortex A9 (Quad-core) - 32-bit ARMv7 architecture.
PX5: Cortex A53*(Octacore) - 64-bit*ARMv8 architecture.
PX6: Cortex A72 (I'm not sure of the details - brand new platform)
From what I've seen, most Android 8.0 units are PX5 and most Android 8.1 units are PX6 (brand new). Units with older versions of Android are probably PX3, I'm assuming. Most of these units do not get "official" major Android version updates - the manufactureres just release new models instead of upgrading existing models (but some can be upgraded via custom ROM's).
Personally, I would probably look for a PX5 MTCE octa-core unit with 4GB of RAM. I wouldn't consider anything older than a PX5/Android 8.0 unit - and like I said, I'd recommend 4GB of RAM if you can find it. The PX6 units are brand new - there are no custom ROM's or anything for them yet or anything. They also seem to come with less RAM and storage from what I've seen?!?!
Only way to be 100% sure what you are getting is to ask the seller - they should be able to tell you the processor type and "MCU" type (MTCE-XXX),where XXX is the MCU type. The MCU is like the "go between" between the Andorid OS and the radio hardware (MCU type can be seen under the Android settings menu) - you may even ask them to send a screenshot of the hardware info from the Android settings to confirm what it actually is.
Just a "general" overview of some of the basics - I hope that helps.
Oh - and if you have a CANBUS car, you need a CANBUS adapter. If the seller is selling a unit specifically for your car, they usually include the CANBUS adapter. That will allow your steering wheel controls to keep working and other items.
Yes. That actually helped. These with 4 GB RAM and at least a PX5 cost more, about $350 so I'm going to wait, save up a bit more, because I also need to convert my car from 1 DIN to 2DIN and that will cost me at least an extra $70.
I also want one that looks like the factory equipped one, so, yeah, I'll just wait another month or so.
Thank you for your answers, guys!

I have a mekede unit supposed to be android 8.1..... It's not it's actually 6.0
This was from mekede official store on aliexpress
They are now not answering my messages and unfortunately I didn't figure this out until after the buyer protection time limit had ended.
Just to post an update to my original post... At first, I thought that the sound quality was great. But the more and more I used the head-unit, I found that sound quality was NOT up to par with my previous WinCE head-units. And I also ran into noise-related issues. I did everything in my power to try and resolve these issues (including using external amps for better sound quality), but in the end, I gave up and re-installed my WinCE head-unit.
Unfortunately, from my experience, these Android head-units just aren't up to par in terms of sound-quality and noise-rejection. I had noise-related issues from the LED backlighting, USB devices, wifi and bluetooth wasn't very good either. Hopefully, they continue to improve upon these units, because having the head-unit run a full version of Android is great - but sound quality is also important - and even more important to some (like me). Would be great if the big audio companies starting building full Android head-units (Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, JVC, etc).
Since my WinCE unit supports Easy Connect, I can still get the advantages of Andoid for certain things while also having fantastic sound-quality and no noise issues. Best of both worlds. Granted, the WinCE unit is significantly more expensive ($699 vs $350), but just like anything else - in most cases, "you get what you pay for". The WinCE unit that I'm talking about specifically is the Dynavin N7 - and they use high-qaulity sound components. But I also had Rosen WinCE head-units and they sounded great as well (but again, significantly more expensive).
All depends on what is most important to you - software flexibility or sound quality.
My new 2021 PX6 from Phoenix Automotive Vertical Fast Boot OEM fiber option. Had this for about 2 months. I use it with an external OEM AMP. Used in a Lexus.
AMP is not fiber. The unit is a PX6 MCU RL78c (2014 Chip-set) NCHHWY V332-0 , Framework px6-userdebug 9 PQ2A 190305.002. OS 9.
Audio is very good! I love the sound. Speakers: OEM Mark Levnson in the front, 6.5inch JBL GX600C + Sound Ordnance M2-10DVC 10inch in the back.
Tested only with stock HU.
What works on the stock PX6:
(With correct wiring harness)
1. Fast-Boot. After first 2 setup boot-ups, on is instant for 24 hours of nonusage.
2. AC controls work (Cooling).
3. Searing Wheel controls work out of the box on Lexus w/canbus included.
4. Audio player works but not a good GUI.
5. Phone works with Bluetooth.
6. Android Auto is installed and works.
7. DSP Sound works with an EQ and many settings, GUI is good.
8. Most User Settings seem to work. Wheel mapping may stop after Fast-Boot for 5 minutes (bug).
9. Navigation (Google Maps) works, GPS works.
9.5. Maps works Off-Line in Google Maps.
10. Radio with about 16 memory storage.
What is not working in a Lexus / Toyota :
1. Factory Settings. All-access is denied. Locked out! Big Issue for me.
2. GAS monitor/usage. This should work out of the box. Phoenix says it is not working and is disabled in Lexus. BUT is advertised to work on the Phoenix site.
3. Sound MAX loud setting will NOT save after reboots. After boot, the sound is all the way up, loud. After talking with Phoenix tech, no fix. However, if FastBoot is on, the audio may save to a lower setting for about 24hours. If you don't use HU for 24 hours settings are lost again..
4. Screen will reflect windshield in GS Gen3 Lexus. May be an issue in sunlight.
5. If you wear Sunglasses or have glasses that do auto shade to dark, you may not like the screen because it can be hard to see.
6. Radio- Local / Distance not working. Can't find a fix. However Local radio is working fine. I get most local stations clear.
7. Temp display worked for 2 days now showing -40 at all times. (No fix).
8. Fast-Boot image changing. The stock app that changes the BOOT-Image will not work. It is out of date and will not work with Android 9+. It needs an update from Manufacture. A Phoenix Auto add-on app (download), also will not work, out of date. App complains of an Error with the Android version.
Add-On that work:
1. Musicolet from Play Store. The Stock Audio player sucks big time.
2. Bluedriver OBD2 reader.
3. Torque Lite or Pro OBD2 reader.
4. Function Generator, from Play Store.
That's about it.

Hi everyone,
My name is Max and today I bricked my headunit Nothing fancy because it was 8227l_demo with 2gb/32gb. I'm looking for the best android headunit for now. Size 9". Android 9.1/10 + DSP. Can you all recommend something for me? TEYES CC2 Plus is a good one?

Depends on your budget. I would start with Rockchip PX6, PX5 or PX3. Just make sure it's a MTCx unit (so MCU type starts with letters MTC)

I just took delivery of one. (3/ 32GB)
Seems very well made. According to most YouTube videos I've seen in general, it is as fast as you need it to be, no bad signs of lag and of course if you're using a phone hotspot also depends on your WiFi. It will do me TBH vs. another sim card bill.
Audio quality is reportedly a plus too (which is important obviously)
I seen 2gb units with preloaded apps loading nicely, playing USB HD video files, GPS maps.
Pic is of unit inside Astra Mk6 OEM fascia fitting you get a GM canbus decoder and another speaker unit for indicators door open warning sounds.
I suppose like most gadgets any cons will be personal and appear after spending time with it.
I will report again after I install it after holidays. I botched a couple of photo uploads. If anyone needs any pics let me know. Merry Christmas Folks.
I have to say it's a neat little device with surprisingly decent A/V quality.
All the usual apps Spotify, Netflix, Prime, YouTube work perfectly.
Just connect your Google acc for most direct main app settings.
(If Google is not a preference, Admittedly I'm not surprised)
I have all connections in place, incl. 8pin CANbus but unfortunately the CANbus decoder is not sending a signal to the CC2 plus unit.
It's a Raise RSC and a guy on YouTube told me he got a Raise RZS which works fine.
(Seller said there is NO Raise RZS only RZC)
I'm disappointed as I've said it's a good unit and a working CANbus would have been icing on the cake as I get no reaction from cd 400 control button panel, Steering wheel controls, Door open warnings, A/C display etc.
I can't think where I go from here except try a different decoder. It's a decent probability I have a non working CANbus. And I've tried a lot of attempting to connect it.
EDIT Feb 2021: CANbus issue resolved.
There was a very slightly misaligned pin in the CANbus decoder connection zone
(zone c on CC2plus)
So I straightened it as best as I thought, connected 8 pin connection from loom and now it all works fine.
Incl; Door open warning s - Original cd400 unit fascia buttons / Steering Wheel buttons - A/C display etc. So happy days.
I have a Subaru Forester Limited with the Harmon Kardon audio system that came stock with the car.
I'm looking to upgrade to something that will provide Android Auto and Apple Carplay without needing to plug in the phone. I'm currently leaning towards Idoing but am open to any suggestions you all might have.
I don't have much experience when it comes tinkering with electronics or cars, so I figured one of these all one solutions would make it the easiest for me. This way I'm not going to be splicing any wires and it will all be plug and play (I hope).
I've reached out to Idoing because I'm not exactly sure which model I would even pick. These are the ones that seem to fit my vehicle, but I'm not 100% sure.
Idoing 9"Android Head Unit For Subaru WRX STI XV Forester 2016-2021 Car Autoradio Multimedia Video Player Navigation Stereo GPS
Idoing 9"2.5D QLED Car Android Radio GPS Multimedia Player Head Unit 4G+64G For Subaru WRX Forester 2016-2020 Navigation NO 2DIN
Idoing 9"Car Android Radio GPS Multimedia Player IPS 2.5D For Subaru Forester 2016-2018 4G+64G 8 Core Navigation Zlink Head Unit
So am I looking the wrong direction? Is there a brand that I'm overlooking that would be better for me to get?
Thanks.
Ask seller to provide screenshots of Android System information, including MCU. With that you could know what is being offered and then research the forums.
You probably want a UIS7862 FYT based uint.
