I'm still on the OEM MI9 build. I got my phone about a week after it was released, rooted it using the Root de la Vega method, I then froze all OTA methods with Titanium Backup and, due to the lack of custom rom availability back then, was happy with just installing some Xposed modules. But 2 years later my Note 3 is feeling a little old and I want to try to breathe new life into it with a custom ROM.
I've been reading up on the state of custom ROMs with this phone but there is a lot of information to take in. I want to try to install and run JasmineROM v6.1 (Seems to be the most active ROM available for this phone) as my daily driver. I have seen numerous posts stating that going above android 4.4.2 will put me at risk of losing root and I want to prevent that as much as possible.
Is there an easy way for me to clean my system (remove all apps and data) without me moving to a higher android build and losing my root?
Would it make the most sense for me to install multisystem, use my MI9 build as the stock partition, and then just run the JasmineROM in a virtual slot or am I completely misunderstanding how multisystem and custom roms on this phone work?
Can I stay on MI9 or do I need to update to NC2/NC4 that most threads talk about before installing any custom ROMs.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a T-Mobile Galaxy S5 ROM that's more or less vanilla Android and capable of being used with a systemless root?
You mean a SM-G900T?
How I think LineageOS looks quite vanilla and is probably one of the most stable ROMs for the S5.
What do you mean by systemless root?
In LineageOS you can enable root for apps by flashing the su add-on.

Hi all,
I got a used Redmi3s , So im planning to reset the phone completely and use it as a secondary Phone.. MIUI Rom has so many bloatware and im used to CM roms easiness and light weight .. So i had plan to Unlock BootLoader, Flash TRWP and Any Custom ROM .
Now is it worth to Flash Custom ROM as i need a stable rom with battery ?
Or i shuld just root the MIUI and Uninstall almost all Unwanted MIUI apps. My concern is mainly on apps which run on background and use my Internet ...
Hope to read some user reviews on CUSTOM ROM and Stable ROM ...
Custom ROMs are always better than MIUI in terms of battery, speed, updates, etc. But MIUI is what you pay for and stability is always higher. Since you've unlocked the bootloader and have a custom recovery, why not try a custom ROM and then decide.

Miui 9 is fast as advertised. And I believe the camera problem you mentioned must be about google camera or a new ROM which appeared recently. Google camera modded has that new bokeh features now available for our device. As a result, it has trouble with other functionality. But stock camera in custom ROMs have no issue at all. And there is a camera issue in Cosmic OS official which will get fixed in future updates.
Anyways it all comes down to your personal preference- MIUI or Custom ROMs.

Stock rom minus bloatware is better imo. I've been on stock rom minus bloatware for a long time. It's stable, bug free and I don't have to flash new rom every week. Battery life is amazing, 10 hr SOT.

After rooting your phone install titanium backup to delete bloatware. Or you can also try this bloatware removal script

What is the most stable Nougat stock ROM for A2017G in your opinion?
Are all versions similarly difficult to root?

wrong section, this is a question...
Check the guides to root. Marshmallow is easier to unlock but you can also use other EDL methods
Hi! I'm a newbie so I'm sorry if I may annoy you with this question.
I've tried reading threads here about installing custom roms but so far it's always from a global rom to a custom rom. I have the Chinese MIUI 11.
Now, my question is: if I want to switch to Mokee OS from Chinese MIUI 11, do I have to flash the global rom first before I can flash a custom rom or can I just go straight from Chinese rom to custom rom?
If I can do the latter, is there any clear guide available and if you have the link, can you give it to me? So far, I tried googling but the results are always about how they switched from the chinese rom to the global rom. And after unlocking my bootloader, can I use the XiaomiADBFastbootTools to flash the rom instead of using TWRP?
I don't want to be in MIUI anymore because of the ads and bloatware. :crying:
Thanks for your help!
