Ok glad one ui 2.0 is out. But seriously, any real improvement in camera. Switching between camera lenses is it smooth or still not especially while switching to ultra wide lens. Auto focus on portrait mode still very slow or improved ?

The notes camera is by far the best I've had on a phone. There are plenty of camera apps out there that supposedly improves the camera. I'm no camera expert so I need input from someone who is. Do any of these apps really improve the camera or just add effects?
The ones I've heard are the best are camera 360 and vignette. Anyway, input will be appreciated
Thanks guys

NOW IS SURE...there are somecamera HARDWARE fault component on Note ....
veeeeeeeery few...but we are .....
no good focus...no decent quality....
the problem is of few of us.....so...it does NOT exist,....
i am sorry....
I know some had issues but I was curious if any apps were worth getting

Just plain NO, I've tried them all the stock is the best but not sharp enough.
Depends on what you want to do.
If you are looking for effects:
1. Camera 360 : it's free now, so do try, only it will not scale up to the screen size and may crash half the time, check color-shift and tikt-shift effects
2. Picsay: this is not a camera app, but has more effects than any camera app out there
If you are looking for features:
1. Photaf Panorama
2. Time lapse for Android
Most camera apps are crappy and only apply post-process filters.
Stock camera is very good.
If you need some extra features 360 camera, and for HDR photo - HDR Camera+.
What exactly is hdr?

Just search for High dynamic range imaging in Wikipedia (I can't post links yet) Basically it makes pictures more lifelike by shooting several and combining them in a way that makes the dark areas dark and the bright areas bright.
I'd like to know if someone has Camera 360 working properly? I was using it for several days without any problems and then suddenly it started crashing if the phone is in portrait mode or not running in full screen in landscape mode.
Stock camera is the best for all tasks.

You mean it ever did run fullscreen on note?
I Just switched to a G2 from an Xperia Z and I have to say the shutter speed is rather slow. I Was sitting in a moving train trying to take a picture of a document however the shots turned out blurry due to the shake. Its honestly quite disappointing as this was supposed to be one of the better smartphone cameras and it even has ois to help with handshake. I'm running the latest Paranoid Android for D802 with the camera app from the OnePlus One as it has the best shutter response so far. Is there any ways to improve shutter speed of the camera on an AOSP ROM?
Hi all, I 've been thinking of buying a new phone & I really like the g2 very much but the only thing that is stopping me is the camera performance.
Can someone please tell me after the Jishu/xdadebb mod how is the camera performance under low light, how is the autofocus in low light also is the continuous autofocus in the video problem resolved. How much is the shutter lag after the mod.
I really want to buy this device for the camera & its under my budget if the camera ain't good enough even after the mods I may go with oppo find 7a/oneplus one which are in the same budget but have better camera.
I dont capture my photos in low light. But the camera is pretty amazing with xdadebb mod, and Mi2Raw enables the G2 to capture raw footage as well.
The G2 and G3 has the same camera sensor, just that the G3 has a Z-Axis image stabiliser and laser autofocus. So if I were you, I'll go look at those camera comparisons on review sites comparing the G3, OnePlus One and the Oppo.
Edit: Video performance is pretty good too. xdadebb camera mod allows for tap to focus in video to focus your subject and it works well. It has object tracking too!
Edit 2: With dorimanx's kernel, I was able to turn down the mic gain when I was at a concert. That + the stereo recording = pretty awesome recording
Thanks @lowjinyik.
Anyone else using these mods please comment about the low light performace after the mod.
I haven't tried taking pictures in low-light conditions yet, I should, will do and compare later but under bright, sunshine outdoor, with Normal mode, I see virtually no difference in term of performance and image quality. There are several features that I haven't tried out yet.

The low light camera quality is good. The mod makes very little difference to low light pictures.
Thanks guys for your responses. I think I might go with oppo find7. It's better than the g2 in every aspect except battery life & OS updates. Which can be taken care by the VOOC charger & custom roms respectively.

MGC_6.1.013_MI8_FINAL_V1c.apk ,
Pros: based on Gcam 6.1 of Pixel 3 XL. Work fine both cameras and you can change blur effect after shot in Gphoto. A lot of setting, like saturation etc.
Cons: Its a bit laggy on menu if take many shots. File its heavy (85+Mb). HDR must be on always. Had many setting and you need to know what are you doing.
MGC_5.2.022_AllAutoCORR_2.apk
Pros: Work fine both cameras. Based on gcam Pixel 2. Ligh interface and very good shots
Cons: take a little bit to take the shot. Just 1 beauty mode with from Cam.
GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V6.apk
Pros: fast and efficient. Everything work nice. No need additional setting.
Cons: Lack of additional configuration and (for my taste) had washed colors and a little bit more noise on dark situations than another 2 upper.
Right now I am using MGC_5.2.022_AllAutoCORR_2.apk

Hi
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but after reading everywhere how great the 8 Pro is and how good the camera is, I expected something more. Don't get me wrong the camera can take great pictures, but not in Portrait mode indoors.
I've tried a lot of indoor shots and was shocked that a lot of them are just not really sharp. Hair is not sharp or even blurred out for the background. I've also noticed that the camera tends to use a much slower shutter speed than my Pixel 2 XL. Sharp photos taken with the Pixel 2 XL had a shutter speed of 1/289, where the OnePlus took the photo with 1/50. Which is then understandable if the subject is moving.
Sure, I could go into Pro mode and set the shutter speed myself, but this would require more time and also I'm loosing the blurry background. And in Pro mode I cannot switch to wide angle or telephoto lens.
And last but not least, the camera tends to be not as snappy. It takes a split second until it takes the photo. And indoors the portrait mode on the display seems to be stuttering. I guess because it tries to analyse the picture and show a "faked" live blurred background.
All in all, I'm very disappointed as I didn't think that my almost three year old Pixel can take better pictures and I hope that's my fault and some setting that I'm missing. E.g. is there a way to override the shutter speed in portrait mode?
And yes, I've also tried the GCam (7.3.018_Urnyx05-v2.1) with the config https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/p/f/2020/07/nrG-📸-Urnyx05-7.3.018_v2.0.xml. Although this is a lot snappier, it still produces subpar results compared to the Pixel in Portrait mode. Same shutter speed issues and colors are better on the Pixel.
Any ideas? Do you have the same issues?
Thanks
