I've just reinstalled Windows 10 and have a problem getting my phone to be recognized.
I tried downloading the files from this thread which didn't help and resulted in my pc displaying a Test mode at the bottom right (I believe this is for un-signed drivers, prob the qualcomm one)?
Anyone able to help, wanted to unlock and flash a rom this eve but thats not going to happen now
Got this sorted, please close thread

Hi folks, I seem to be having a few problems with my Magic handset and after reading through all the threads and trying to install things on my laptop, I am now even more confused than when I first started!
The thing that started everything off was my auto rotate stopped working for no apparent reason. I hadn't installed any new apps or done anything to make it stop working. I tried a soft reset with no avail, and then did a full factory reset and still no auto rotate (even though it is ticked in settings).
Also I can't seem to connect the handset to my pc..... I have tried HTC sync, WMDC, and downloaded and installed the sdk thingy but it still won't connect, I am running Windows 7. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to install a new rom, get the pc to recognise the handset, and hopefully fix the auto rotate problem? (kinda hoping that the new rom will fix auto rotate)
I can access the sdcard when mounted in the phone so I can't understand why it wont connect to the phone.
I have usb debugging enabled etc, I have read that much I just dont get it anymore! I even thought of contacting Vodafone to see if they can do an update over the air, but don't know where to start. This is my 3rd HTC device but my first Android based one.
Is there anyone local to me that could help in anyway?
As you can probably tell I'm getting desperate now lol
Many thanks in advance
Bloo
Does the phone show up at all when you plug it in? Does the charging LED come on? If the answer to these questions is no, I'd try another cable, USB port or computer and if that fails I'd send it in for repairs.

Hi, thanks for the reply. When the phone is connected to the PC, it charges up, lights up and i can access the SDcard in the phone, but i cannot get HTC sync to find it and the sdk program i downloaded just confuses me. I am having problems installing the correct drivers for htc sync and sdk, everytime i try to update the driver, Windows7 tells me I already have the most up to date driver installed and wont let me change it to the one that is recommended in the guide!
I am currently uninstalling everything and starting over, Just about to re-install sdk and try to get the right drivers installed.
From what I have read so far, the accelerometer problem is likely to be a fault with the software and re-installing the rom might fix it, sounds easy on paper but in reality is proving difficult (very) I'll give it one more go and if that doesn't work then sod it, its back to windows mobile based devices for me!
update**
I have managed to get the serial number etc using the cmd prompt & sdk, followed the instructions on how to make a goldcard and copied the files required onto it.
in the guide it tells me to copy certain files into the root of the goldcard, is the root section just the bit you see when you open the card?
the reason i ask is that when i have inserted the goldcard back into the handset and powered up using vol - & pwr, hboot does not find the files, i just get a load of green writing saying file not found. what am i doing wrong?
Forgive if this is somewhere else on the forum but i have been filtering so much info in the last day and this doesn't seem to be anwsered.
Ok so I went to flash with odin 1.3v and the flash was a bad one probably user error. After that failed rebooted phone and comp. now The computer doesn't recognized the phone as any real hard where just an unknown device. i have reinstalled the drivers multiple times. i have got the watermark suite so i can use the driver but since i cant find a .inf driver i cant force install it. I Understand that it is a bootloader issue or so i seem to believe please help with a redirect to answer or just tell me why i FAIL.
come on nobody unknown device drivers are installed used all usb ports give me some help
Hey. Im brand new to this forum and to Android aswell since i came from Iphone. Yea im a noob and sorry if you notice bad english
So i received my SGS2 some days ago and after researching about root/custom roms and stuff, I decided to start with rootin my SGS2. i download Odin3 1.85 and superoneclick, i also liked litening rom v1.1 and downloaded that too.
So i turn on "USB debugging" and turn off the phone to enter "download mode" and when i try to connect to Odin, nothing shows up. And Windows bar tells me that usb is not recognised. But... flash drive/transferring files and connecting to Kies works just fine. Please help me, ive been sitting over 24 hours with this issue and ive restarted/uninstalled installed pretty much everything over and over again (kies/drivers/device) not windows though. Why wont Windows/odin recognise it in download mode???
And if possible, is there a way around to install litening rom??
Thats weird man....very very unlikely to happen...
Just tell us step by step with screen shots if possible then it becomes very easy for us to find where u r doing it wrong...ok ?
Turn off USB debugging .
reboot phone and PC .

This is a driver problem. The Gadget Driver fails to get installed properly.
Make sure Windows Update are set to automatically find drivers for your devices.
I myself faced this problem. To rectify it I'd to try the same thing on a different machine and it worked flawlessly there.
The problem you're facing is that the Service Mode drivers are not getting installed, hence Odin is unable to recognize it.
Other possible fixes include, trying on different USB Ports, downloading Samsung PC Studio.
Thx for the replies everyone. Yea i figured its a driver issue, ill try the suggested actions incl samsung pc studio installing, and if its still not working i guess my last resort is using another pc or reinstalling windows on my own pc
In kies, i think in the tools menu, there is a install drivers option. This will fix the problem im sure. Not sure about pc studio having the same.

fyi, i reinstalled windows and updated everything and the driver connection issue is solved now. I should have done this from the beginning instead of freaking out for several midnight hours lol thx for the help everyone, hopefully the rooting and flashing process should happen painless now
if anyone has this problem too,
i had the same problem and for me closing kies helped.

Earlier i was trying to flash a custom ROM and i accidentally deleted my whole OS... My problem is that every time i plug in my device it comes out as unrecognized. I have tried installing all the drivers from Nexus Tool Kit and i still get the unrecognized notice. I've tried plugging my device on three different computers and still nothing. I've tried just about everything i could read about in the posts but nothings worked yet. If anyone could please help me with this id really appreciate it!!!
hello I'm really hoping somebody can help me because I'm not getting answers anywhere I've halfway through a course to learn mobile tech repairs and I'm completely stuck on a Samsung SM g925a when trying to remove the FRP. I have written my class instructors and I'm not getting any response. I've downloaded all the drivers from Samsung I've updated them all but however it is not allowing me to connect the device to my PC so I can get it into odin to flash combination files. When I plug the device in to my windows 10 pc I receive a pop up saying the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it and then in device manager when I open it it shows as unknown USB device device descriptor request failed. I tried to download the drivers again reinstalled and updated them and that didn't work. I changed all my cords tried it on every Cord I had and it didn't work, yet these cords recognized other devices I had. I also uninstalled the USB driver and then I ran the hardware troubleshooter still got nothing and then I also disabled fast startup none of this has worked. I also have spent countless hours researching on line and I'm just not getting any answers and I get the same troubleshooting ideas I've already tried however I did come across a program USB debugger r but I don't know if I had just downloaded it wrong or had the wrong firmware files but it wasn't working for me I thought maybe that would help me to connect to PC. I'm still learning and only halfway through the course but it seems like this is such an easy issue that I just can't seem to figure out is there anybody out there willing to help me figure this out please I'm sure something simple Im missing or forgetting but I've been dedicated to this phone and I sure can't figure it out it's stopping me right at the gate. Thanks in advance
