I have tried to manually flash the Android 10 Beta to my OnePlus 6T using Local Upgrade but after the phone reboots, I get a "Build Version does not match Hardware version" error and I have to reset my device using MSMDownloadTool. I've always received the Open Beta updates OTA but this new one I am not. Just food for thought: do you think OnePlus is purposely not sending the update OTA to T-Mobile Variants running the International ROM? I've attempted on both the bootloader unlocked method, and the method without needing to unlock the bootloader.

Yes, T-Mobile is excluded from this beta until now. We found a way to flash the ROM but it has some issues that need to be fixed.

For what it's worth, Android 10 Beta showed up via OTA on my TMobile 6T running international ROM. Was excited and installed it...same result as for you...won't boot and shows the same message.
OTA's have never worked, just fyi.

I have had no problem with OTA's on my tmobile 6t running the international beta. I have taken 6-8 of them with no issues.
I've gone from each beta to 17 since i switched to international with no issues. Android 10 does partitions different amongst other things and that's why it doesn't work via OTA.

They've always worked for me, you must've not read the original post. And I just received the Android 10 OTA but I'm not gonna install it bc apparently it'll still brick the phone.

Same here. All Android 9 OTA updates worked fine for me. That's why I didn't really think twice to hit INSTALL when the Android 10 OTA showed up. I was on the BETA channel, btw, which I am sure you are too.
The notification is driving me crazy.
You can not install Android 10 open beta on a T-Mobile variant OnePlus6T. It will not boot. You will HW/SW mismatch. Even if you've converted it to International
There is no OTA for Android 10, you have to download it from the Oxygen Updater app and then Local Upgrade.
But as I mentioned earlier, IF you have a T-Mobile converted 6T it WILL NOT WORK. you will brick.

You can by using the fastboot OB1 mentioned here in these forums, but it's still far from stable. Best to wait for the stable Android 10 from OnePlus. It may be another month though before we see it.

Don't install the OTA of you're TMobile, as everyone has said, it will soft brick your device
Fortunately I have the Oneplus 6T International Purple variant. I wanted to be able to use 2 SIMS just in case I need a phone for work I'll just install a second SIM.

Hey guys, I currently live in China and I have access to both the Chinese version of the One plus 5 and the International version of the phone. Since the Chinese version is a tad bit cheaper than the international version, I am considering the Chinese version. However, I don't know whether I will be able to have google assisstant or install google services manually at all if I purchase the Chinese version. This happened to my Chinese S7. Does anyone know if the Chinese variant is the same as the International variant?
Thanks
hi
i also have the chinese variant you can install google play store using google installer version 2 i tried it and seems to work properly.

Thanks, just one more question. Does google assistant work? Thanks
How do you tell the difference between these 2 models?
There is absolutely no hardware difference between the models. The Chinese model comes with HydrogenOS instead OxygenOS but you can easily change between both since they are both official updates from OnePlus.
OxygenOS is meant for the international market and hence has all the Google stuff pre-installed. No messing around necessary.
To the OP, download the latest OxygenOS from here. Place it in the root of your internal memory. Basically don't put the file in any folder.
Go to Settings > System updates, press the gear icon and select Local upgrade. Choose the file, the phone will boot into recovery and everything is done.
Source: I bought mine in China and am currently running OxygenOS with root.

No. Just do exactly what he said. Download the file, put on phones memory (not in any folder). Go to settings, update, and choose the file. Done.
In fact, your memory is probably still intact after that. It's encourage you then do a factory reset.

My only question is if after flashing with Oxygen OS, will you receive OTA ? In gearbest for example it says that the equipment does not have OTA, after I flash it with the latest version will it ?
Thx in advance.

Yes, I am sure. Updates come from OnePlus directly.
Do people not believe us when we say there are no difference, you can flash OOS easily, and updates work fine?! I have a Chinese version running OOS on T-Mobile! All stcok, no unlocked bootloader, etc. OTA works fine. OnePlus even said I could get warranty coverage here in the US.

Calm down just verifying. Most devices require carriers to push the OTA. I manually download and push the updates myself instead of waiting.

Yes he's right, the only phones that require the carrier to push the ota's are devices that are carrier locked which happens a lot in the US, idk about China but here in The Netherlands pretty much every phone is unlocked no matter how you buy it with a few exceptions. OnePlus phones are always unlocked and the only official carrier that sells it is O2 in the UK which I believe is still the same model, either way you'll still recieve the ota's.

Thanks for a thought out response instead of being an ass like he was. I hadn't looked at the coding for the OTA app to see it's download source, I just deleted it so I wouldn't lose root accidentally.

I always use the OTA app to update my phone, it always takes a bit of time for the full zip update to appear on OnePlus or XDA. The OTA app detects root and when it does it will tell you it's gonna download the full zip in the .OTA folder. Then so just flash it via twrp alongside magisk and some other mods.
if it's possible to instale oxygenOS and there is no hardware difference between the two versions then it's ok

I have the T-Mobile variant which I converted to the International ROM using the method that does not require the bootloader to be unlocked. I am running the open beta of 9.0.17. I went to check if I have Chat features yet and it worked for like a second! I turned the toggle on, went back, clicked chat features again and now it says it's not available for my device. Maybe it was just a glitch, but look at the screenshot I attached! My hopes were so high and now I'm just upset again. Will I ever get Chat features? Who am I waiting on? Google? OnePlus? T-Mobile?

On the T-Mobile firmware it only works with the stock messaging app, probably the same on the OB.
Yes, I was running the international software and had this same issue. Flashed back to stock T-Mobile software due to horror stories of the update to Android 10 bricking converted devices. Tried to turn these on again, and same story... Stock messaging app worked, Google's didn't.
I have converted to International and upgraded to 10.0 using Oxygen Updater then downloaded Google Messenger app and it works great. I do have a unlocked bootloader however.

I went from 9.0.17 to 10.3 with a local upgrade - all seems to work fine. Except for Google certification that will not be available till TMobile release A10 and certify the device. So some applications will not show in Play Store (Like Netflix) and GPay will not work.

Yes, you can. You better install Netflix BEFORE upgrading. The reason is Netflix deployment is not one APK - you will need to use 3d party to deploy Netflix apk.

May I ask, when you went from 9.0.17 to 10.3, did you use Oxygen updater? I have converted twice now from A9 to A10 and both times had to msmtool back to A9.17 due to various issues. I would like to update to A10, but don't want to have an issue and have to re-wipe everything and go through the ordeal of unlocking bootloader again as well as copying all my files back to my phone and setting things back up.
Did you have any issues with your upgrade or was it a seemless experience? I realize there is Netflix and google play (I do use Netflix but no Gpay).
If it worked good for you I may consider going to 10.0.3 from 9.0.17 in the next day or so. I realize the upgrading is all subjective, just curious

I just updated to the latest 10.0.3 last night. There were no major hiccups and I followed the ultimate guide method 2. There were some Magisk modules that were incompatible such as (OOS Doze) and my sms/MMS with Google messenger stopped working. The messagenr actually resolved itself and is now working and my Netflix works along with Disney plus. I am using the module safetypass to pass safetnet

Not true I went from 9. 17 to 10.01 and Incremental to 10.3. With no issues. Your mileage may vary.
I'm on 9.0.17 converted TMobile to international, can I take the 10.3.0 update , I'm understanding I'll most likely lose Google pay which I don't use anything else?

Yes you will lose Google Pay and Play Store Certification.
So, I have a T-Mobile branded 6t. I was running Havoc OS 2.9 Pie. My device is full unlocked(bootloader AND sim). I decided I wanted to wipe everything and msm back to stock then go to OOS and then back to Havoc 2.9 Pie. I've done this so many times its easy lol. But the weird this is, I had something unexpected happen. After I msm to OOS, I did a local update as usual to the last version of Pie. After everything was successful, before I flashed twrp, I got a notification that OOS 10 was ready to install. Not a scam/virus/malware. My question is this, what would have happened if I upgraded to Over the air update instead of local? Remember, I have a T-Mobile branded 6t

Nobody is answering my question lol. My phone is T-Mobile branded, so will the OOS 10 update work? Normally we can't get an update notification because its branded and not from Oneplus, so how was I able to get this notification?
I read earlier this month that someone had tried to ota the way you're asking about and it didn't work. From what I remember they had to msm back.
I've been on 9.0.17 with 0 issues and got the update notice yesterday. I DLed the full update available here and did the local upgrade following the instructions in the ultimate guide. It went ok. My only issues are ctsProfile false and the Play store not certified. I would have rather stayed on 9.0.17. I'm not sure what those issues would mean for you going to Havoc.

Your device (T-Mo variant) lacks local update feature in Settings->System->System Updates like 6T, 7 Pro and 7T, 8 T-Mobile and 8 Verizon editions, hence why it isn't listed on support website since you can't officially flash builds by yourself.

Full zips are just not provided by OnePlus even by OTA for carrier devices (exception being Android major updates eg when Android 11 will be released), only incremental ones are provided. More info at https://www.xda-developers.com/dont...s-7t-pro-mclaren-bootloader-oxygenos-updates/

Full zips are just not provided by OnePlus even by OTA for carrier devices (exception being Android major updates eg when Android 11 will be released), only incremental ones are provided. More info at https://www.xda-developers.com/dont...s-7t-pro-mclaren-bootloader-oxygenos-updates/
As a sidenote I'm the OP of the thread you just linked.

I have a rooted phone and want to get this update file. It is not that complex. If I was on any other oneplus phone that was not specialized for 5G, I could get the info needed. I dont know why you think this is hard to do? I gave you a few examples from the other forum

Are you even reading his responses? Those examples came from him.
Even if you had the OTA URL and file captured, you can't flash it. It'll brick your phone unless it goes through the update menu. They are incremental updates that check file integrity. They are not full updates. You cannot flash updates on this phone. Period.
If you have an MSM, that's different. But we don't have that either. Right now, all we can do is wait.
I am rooted

Your device (T-Mo variant) lacks local update feature in Settings->System->System Updates like 6T, 7 Pro and 7T, 8 T-Mobile and 8 Verizon editions, hence why it isn't listed on support website since you can't officially flash builds by yourself.

I can apply it via fastboot. And I have done so many times. For the 7 pro for example. This whole wrinkle with 5G and reserve.img really sucks. I am sorry but this is very frustrating. I want simply to be rooted for many reasons and without even flashing custom ROM....and now it looks like being rooted is causing more harm than good. I guess I get nothing from being rooted. I am contemplating just using MSM to go backwards and unroot.

From the very own article written by XDA Portal I linked to:
So what’s the problem here? The T-Mobile OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition, unlike most other OnePlus devices, does not have full firmware ZIPs available from OnePlus’s website. So with an unlocked bootloader barring you from taking incremental updates and no full ZIPs to take, you will be stuck on whatever OxygenOS build your phone is running if you decide to pull ahead and unlock your bootloader. The regular OnePlus 7T Pro does have full ZIPs available for downloading, but you can’t take those on this device since it’s carrier-branded and it’s T-Mobile – not OnePlus – who is responsible for the device’s OxygenOS firmware.

Thanks for your understanding.
Actually we do.

There is MSM that works for most oneplus phones. And the Hydrogen image for .34 so I might just do that and unroot.

Stop. Just stop. You cannot flash the Hydrogen image. That's for the Chinese non-5G model.
I can use this!

and there is an ops file for 34. So Not sure why you do not think I can use MSM. I most certainly can.

LL Starks is right. MSM has been locked into specific devices starting with this device and going forward. With the 7 Pro, it was different because MSM was still universal for it. It won't work if you try using a Hydrogen MSM tool for a T-Mobile 5G variant. I know it's easy to get frustrated, but you're gonna brick your phone if you don't listen to reason or people who know what they're talking about. Not trying to sound harsh, but that's the simple truth.

You're confusing several different topics.
No, you cannot manually install OTAs on OnePlus devices from TMO. It worked on the 6T at first, but then the Local Update option was removed in an update. You might be able to sideload through a modified stock recovery, if someone with root can grab the OTA after it downloads, but before it installs, since it will be deleted after.
Yes, there is a HydrogenOS MSM image. No, you cannot flash it on the HD1925 (hotdogg) TMO variant.
Yes, there are several MSM images for our TMO variant. Running any of them will lock your bootloader and restore to stock. When you unlock again after, you will once again be missing the reserve.img needed to accept OTAs.
There are downloadable zips that replace the missing reserve.img needed to accept an OTA. I didn't create the first couple, but I did make ones for .27 -> .31 and .31 -> .34.
Regardless of what build you are on now, a missing reserve.img will not prevent you from seeing an update. Your phone will download it even if you are rooted. However, it will fail to install once it gets to the part where it updates reserve.img.
Ok so what do you recommend?

Do I restore the reserve.img with the script and tools in that other thread? I did that actually. You are saying I should be able to get the update, and it will unroot me afterwards? I could use magisk to say install to inactive slot after OTA before rebooting though right? I still am not getting the update OTA...I clicked check a bunch of times. Maybe I am not in the queue for this round.

If you already restored your reserve.img, then the OTA should install once your phone gets it. Some people have been able to update without unrooting, but I do it to be safe. I go into Magisk and choose to restore boot images, but not uninstall. This allows any downloaded modules to remain and not have to be configured again when you root after update.
Once you restore boot images and reboot, the OTA should install and then reboot again. I then repeat the original root steps by pulling an updated boot.img through TWRP, and am back up and running in less than 15 minutes.
