Anyone with TPA?
Anyone?
Is it really possible that some markets don't get security updates, or is something wrong with my phone? I know Samsung had a security patch in October but my phone doesn't think so.

Thanks @Viryllo. I have it and according to Frija I am running the latest f/w, I just don't understand how can it be that some markets need to have security patches and others don't.

No worries mate. I've been in this situation since the beginning days of Android.
I looked mine up on samobile and it said latest security patch for Columbia is Sept but I never received the OTA.
So I do what I always do flash with Odin.

OK, but I am curious - does Samsung think that certain countries don't need security update, or is there something wrong with the phone, or the fact that I am not actually in Panama (Panama phone, using TMO in U.S.) prevents me from getting OTA updates? This is basically my question. I need to know because if it's the latter, I'll be waiting for updates for the rest of my life.
Thanks.

Your Service Provider won't impact when you receive OTA Updates, they're distributed by Samsung according to the firmware on your device. In general Exynos variants have to wait longer than Snapdragon variants, likely due to a wider range of SW Provider Firmware variables on Exynos devices. I have the Snapdragon variant, received the Sept 1st update about a month ago.

Thanks for the insight.
I've always had the unlocked version of Samsung phones and most of time I had to flash to get the latest fw.
Same thing I will doing the get on Android 10.

OK, but still - how come some Exynos countries receive updates and others (Exynos countries) don't? I just don't understand this logic of things. Thanks for the explanation though!
That's a question for Samsung, I don't know their priority guidelines.

I have an S8 Active unlocked in Europe. All OK but there are NO updates for me, even if AT&T have an August update for S8 Active
Any ideea what to do? There is any chance to receive an OTA update if I use it in Europe? Really strange... and frustranting. NO root, no custom OS etc.

To my knowledge, August update hasn't been released... I have an S8 Active on AT&T and just checked for update... None available.
Why is it so infuriating? It's well known that active updates come late, they always have.

Maybe things to know before going into it. You don't ever buy a carrier phone like this expecting root and custom ROMs SMH.
And that's the current firmware with the July patch. Wait a bit since it just came out or get an international model a little more suited to what you're wanting. The att S8 active is NOT it.
My fault It was released on August but it's July. I need some glasses Thx!
Release date: August 9, 2017
Android version: 7.0
Security patch level (SPL): July 1, 2017
Did you ever get there update? I'm considering buying an "unlocked" AT&T S8 Active too.

Not yet On AT&T page seems there is a new update (Oct. patch) but still nothing for me. I'm un July patch :crying:
Did anyone received this? Security patch level (SPL): October 1, 2017 For me it's not showing...
I did

You need to use it on AT&T network to receive the update?! Because, I even reset my phone, do anything, but no sign of update.
I use it in Europe so, no AT&T for me. Really sad
That's too bad. I did end up buying an unlocked S8 Active G892A, I REALLY wanted this device so decided to buy anyway despite concern over updates.
I know the S7 active did require an AT&T SIM to download OTA updates, but I haven't seen if this really is the case with the S8 Active as well... I will write again once I receive my own device.
I am on October. I tried to find the url, but I took the update too long ago.

I'm using a SM-G950FD in the USA with AT&T & T-Mobile SIM cards, but when I ran the software update check, it kept saying I'm on the latest SW (I was on AQH3, but I noticed AQI7 was already out on sammobile). Do the OTA software updates get blocked if you're not in a region with a carrier that officially has a CSC on the phone?

It is possible that OTA didn't get to you yet. I had international Samsung phones before and was able to get updates in US without any issues.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll have to wait until the next update to find out - I manually flashed AQI7 because of Blueborne concerns.
I have a SM-G950F for the past several months and I have gotten a couple of OTA updates. I am on AT&T.

I haven't gotten an update on my unlocked V20 since January.... Any advice on how to get updates w/o flashing a new ROM?
Mines an unlocked h990ds and its on the june security patch, who knows when its gonna catch up.
I have the H990ds and I am on the September security patch
Get the latest firmware for your region here then use KDZ Writer in the thread if you're rooted to update. That allows us to root our phone and stay up to date with patches and such.

You didn't say which model you have. I have the unlocked model for US market - US996. US Cellular variant has the same model name, so do not confuse the unlocked US model US996 with the US Cellular one. The US Cellular firmware will work on the unlocked US996 but has bloatware ... Here is the response I got from [email protected]:
Dear XXXXXXXXX:
This is a staff of LG Product Security Response Team(LG PSRT).
First of all, we apologize for late security patch.
LG V20 US996 has many branches, thus security patch schedules are somewhat different depending on regions and carriers.
As I know, our dedicated team said the next security patch for US996 (Unlocked/USA) will be released at December, 2017.
If your information is different from above, please let me know your country and carrier information.
Thanks.
Regards,
LG PSRT

So, not sure if the person responding to my e-mail was pulling my leg or can be trusted ... LG can always change their minds .... and leave the US996 (Unlocked/USA) unsupported.

How does this work are there more variants within h990ds models.
Yes my friend... There are many models within the H990ds for different regions
Anyway of checking when certain regions get security updates?

Nope. You simply rely on a carrier (or LG themselves for the unlocked model) to push an update. Only way atm is to get the latest kdz for your device and use KDZ Writer to update if you're rooted. Or if you're not, LG UP.
US996 An update at last!
Hi!
Just received an OTA update today!
Still no wifi calling or FM Radio.
Software version: US99610n
Android Security Patch Level: November 06, 2017
Still Android 7.0
Only noticeable difference is I can no longer see the options in Wifi Calling when accessing via Quick Shortcut App. I noticed since I accessed to see if wifi calling was now available.
Btw, I'm located in Puerto Rico and with Tmobile.
Hope everyone receives it soon!
I bought my s8 today. I am on security patch of April. Whenever i tap on software update it says latest software already installed. My brother's s8 on the other hand is on October security patch. When i try to use Bixby voice it says update software to latest to use it. Pics below.

What kind of s8? Is it through a carrier? I have the same problem with AT&T branded. I called AT&T and after they tried to push the update to my phone after getting my IMEI and SIM info verified, nothing happened. They referred me to Samsung. Samsung said I could drive to a Best Buy an hour a way and they could load the latest software in the store. In other words, no one really is accepting responsibility for it. I am basically at the point now where I've decided to flash the updates myself.

I have identified the issue. My S8 is on UK firmware whereas my brother's is on Indian cuz he got dual sim. Is there any way to update to a global firmware or a firmware that gets updates everytime?

I'm by no means an expert, but as I understand it, all carrier branded updates go from Samsung to the carriers and from the carriers to your phone. Only unlocked comes from Samsung to you. (anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).
If your carrier isn't pushing the update to you it could be because the carrier is not sending you the update because of the SIM issue if there's a mismatch in their system. There may be other reasons too, but that seems to be a common one.
Otherwise if you want to update firmware and it's not being sent to your phone, I believe the only alternative is doing it yourself. Check this forum for more advice.

That firmware AQDG is old, from like April this year. You can download a different firmware or an updated UK firmware from updato.com and update with Odin. Knox will not be tripped.
I have not seen this G975USQU2BSGJ for my AT&T S10+. I have G975USQS2ASGK August patch. What is difference?
It's probably just a carrier update or it's the September security patch update. I am on AT&T too and still on the ASGK firmware despite my phone being connected to wifi all morning which usually forces an update whether you want it or not.

Are you on AT&T as well? These are probably just carrier updates. Maybe small Samsung updates. That's my guess anyway.
No, I'm on U1 unlocked
The B firmware in the past has brought BOYD support for sim swapping. I believe only TMobile has pushed to B at this point.
That's really the only change between the A and B firmwares at this point. So unless you need to swap carriers there is no need to rush.
