Title. I have a rooted pixel 3a with TWRP and magisk 19.3 installed. The app is telling me to update to version 20 of magisk but last time im pretty sure that softbricked my device (not a big deal I had backups). Is it safe to update magisk using the app?
I updated today from 19.3 to 20 using the Direct install method. I have done this many times in the past with no issues.

Updated to 7.1.1 Beta. Flashed twrp. I then flashed magisk and then phh. I get stuck in a boot lop. I tried twice but each time I keep getting stuck in a bootloop. Does anyone have a work around? I've looked around and seems like everyone is getting it to work but me and a few others? Any help?
Not sure why you want magisk if xposed isn't supported on 7.0+ ? Just use superSU instead.
Edit: There is a (no longer a) benefit in using Magisk/phh, since magisk hide and using xpropset magisk module is detected by SafetyNet already, but see post below for the latest approach (if any):

suhide is not compatible w/ 7.1.1, so SuperSU is not an option for the 6P on the 7.1.1 Developer Preview
Flash magisk and phh su, works fine, but supersu get bootloop, something like this
7.1.1 with supersu (stable or sr1) boots fine, the problem atm is suhide, flashing suhide causes bootloops
Way possible, but without suhide is not very convenient, banks apps not working properly
So the latest superuser by chain fire works? Cause flashing magisk v8 then phh su just sends me to a bootloop.
I'm using magisk and the latest phh su on 7.1.1 and no issues what so ever even have it passing safetynet
All I did was flash the factory image, then two, then flashed phh su, magisk and then rebooted and installed xsetprop through magisk.
how are you getting this working? I haven't tested, but doesn't the 7.1.1 need a custom kernel to bypass safetynet? Kernel source isn;t out yet?
So the question, The new Magisk or SuperSU ?
Apart from Samsung Pay (Which doesn't work anyway) - Is there a reason why i should move to Magisk ditching the good old SuperSU ?
I personally prefer SuperSU since my time with HTC 8 till Samsung 8. Never have any major problems with it so far. But Magisk is actively being improved.
Just like the topic says. I'm currently running Magisk 11.6 and was told not to install or upgrade to v 12 since it was buggy. Well it looks like v13 is available (13.1 actually). Is this safe to upgrade?
Rom: NATF 4.0 for H910 (AT&T) - Android v7.0
Sidenote: What is preventing SafetyNet from passing (CTS Profile mismatch) ? Is the due to the DirtyCow exploit? Debugging is disabled and Magisk hide is on.
is definitely safe if you have a US996 variant of the LGV20 as I'm using it on that... about to try it out on my H918 variant of the LGV20, but should be fine with since I went through all the betas fine
I flashed 13beta on my h918 without doing anything special and it works just fine
Well I took the advice and upgraded. It didn't go so smooth. The update feature within Magisk manager didn't work. First it didn't let the device reboot. I had to pull the battery since all the shutdown commands did nothing.
2nd time trying to upgrade, it rebooted this time and when I checked the manager again it said magisk wasn't even installed. So I manually got the zip and updated in recovery and then manually installed the latest apk for the manager and finally I'm up to date. All is well (aside from safetynet).
When switching to Magisk 13.1 from anything lower you should use the magisk uninstaller before flashing the newer Magisk . Anything lower than Magisk 13 is not compatible with the newer v5 Magisk manager as far as I know.

I completely overlooked the uninstaller. I don't know how, I just did.
Updated to 13.2 and SafetyNet seems to pass now. Although I'm still "Uncertified" in the Play store.
Well goddamn, it must be working because I was able to get Google Wallet to work and Android Pay lets me add a card, although it says my card is not supported. I don't have a second card currently to test it. Maybe I need to enable it on the banks end. I'll call them tomorrow and ask.
Edit: Nope. It's my bank, not the card.
I'm very new to magisk and I've had my 8 pro rooted with magisk for about a week now. A few days ago I updated my phone to the newest firmware and used the "install to inactive slot after ota" option in magisk like I seen in Max Lee's youtube video. And it worked perfectly, last night I seen there was a new update for the magisk manager and magisk version. So I updated both of them and I selected install to inactive slot again. Which I know that's probably where I screwed up because I did not update my phones firmware, just magisk. Is there any way to rollback a magisk version from my pc using fastboot or something? Because I can access the bootloader fine, I just cannot boot up completely. Any advice would greatly help.
Same issue here, just updated Magisk and now in a boot loop
Can anyone run Magisk 25 versions on ALE-21?
My phone can't run it. I'm using the latest stock rom based on EMUI 4.0.3 (B638) and TWRP 3.2.3.
I can install all versions till 24.3 but can't install 25.
For example: If I flashed Magisk 25.2 via TWRP and then install App version 25.2 and then tried to open the app it loads only a green background with the Magisk logo and that's all, the app is not work and if I need root for another app then every time I see a prompt for root. Even If I checked "Forever" it's not forever because Magisk doesn't work and can't remember.
If I flashed 25.2 via TWRP and tried to install an older version like 24 or 23 then Magisk uninstalls itself and I lose the root.
If I flashed 24.3 via TWRP and tried to install the 24 version or older Magisk App then it works and asks me to Update the app version to the latest 25.2. But If I updated to the latest 25.2 then again I see only a green background with the Magisk logo.
If I uninstalled Magisk root via TWRP using Uninstall.zip and then boot into Android and install App version 25.2 it opens normally but it says that I have no root, so 25.2 app work only if you have no Magisk
I think 25.x version is bugged for Huawei P8 Lite ALE-21.
Magisk 24.3 with 24.3 App works fine at the moment.
