To preface this I'm relatively new to this bootloader unlocking, in the past of i've rooted a galaxy s4, Note 2, S3, S4 mini, galaxy nexus, galaxy note 8.0 (tablet), and a galaxy tab 3. This is first device Ive had with a locked bootloader.
So we know that both old methods of unlocking the google pixel/XL no longer work:
dePixel8 is only supported up to android 7.1.0 http://theroot.ninja/depixel8.html
and the newer method of resetting the phone and connecting to the internet seems to be patched by Google/Verizon as well https://forum.xda-developers.com/pi...lock-bootloader-verizon-pixel-t3796030/page80
My ideas:
1. Is it possible to trick the the Verizon bootloader into thinking that android 10 is being flashed via adb sideload when in reality its android 7.1.0, perhaps by modifying the ota certificate, meta data and payload properties files? And then from use the dePixel8 method.
2. Has anybody given any thought into using the Qualcomm flashing software to flash a older version of the Verizon firmware or a non Verizon firmware version?
3. Is it possible to unlock the bootloader using a Sim from a certain provider?

From what I gathered from s7'/s7e's and potentially on forward internally samsung phones are identical with different software/firmware enabling different network bands.
I have an unlock code but am currently rooted on my S7e 935A (at&t). Currently do not get an unlock prompt while inserting a Verizon sim card.
Is attempting to return to stock the best option? I tried previously and failed, softbricked the phone, couldn't flash another rom(ran into errors and dm-vertify issues), but rerooted successfully and got the phone unbricked. I assume I did something improperly.
What actually regulates weather or not the unlock prompt shows? My knox is not tripped but recovery shows custom version.
I've considered seeing if I could flash Verizon stock firmware and see if it would default enable the bands I'm needing to use but am not sure if 1. knox tripping would cause an issue and 2. if that would even work.
Maybe I could flash the unlocked version? 935U I'd assume it's called?
Just running through options looking for help. Figured I'd ask follks with more know how and knowledge than my self in this if it's possible at all currently. Thanks in advanced!
Just wondering if there was a copy of the latest firmware or last version firmware floating around. My daughters phone is still on Oct1 security patch and I do not have an AT&T sim card to spam the update server with.
edit? That being said, is it possible to flash the j120aZ firmware vs the j120aU firmware that AT&T Provides?
root but thanks AT&T
I was able to root with firmware version J120AUCS3AQE1 but because mine is an AT&T phone the bootloader is "locked and signed" meaning it's never going to unlock........? I have the latest version of firmware that came out in may 2017 and it will be available to you as soon as I can post an outside web address............ Every Recovery image that I flashed caused everything to fail and a big triangle that said AT&T detected software on your device that is not allowed on our device so I guess this one is never really your own........ but you can Root with Kingroot and supersume pro to get rid of bloatware and such but other than that no custom stuff on this one.
If Kingroot keeps freezing just restart phone and keep trying it took me a long while to obtain root.
I recently got a T-mo loaded S8 Active (baseband G892USQS3BRH2 ) and am looking to load an AT&T rom/firmware in order to take advantage of AT&T Wifi calling among other things. I have found the a 5 file zip named G892AUCS2BRE3_Stock_boot_BoxWares.tar and am curious if I can just run the change via Odin.
My Main problem is the lack of DeX support in the S8 Active so I am also looking for a way to get the DeX system files loaded so that I can use my DeX pad.
Any help or advise would be appreciated
Not possible. You're tmobile firmware has bootloader version 3. The firmware you want is bootloader version 2. There is no downgrading so to speak. The other problem is that everything available to flash between different carrier firmware is only for bootloader 1 and if you're lucky bootloader 2. Since you're fully updated to bootloader 3 you'll have a very hard time. Sorry man.
I purchased a used Galaxy Tab S5e with the hopes of installing LineageOS on it. I got the SM-T727U based on the (perhaps faulty) understanding that it would not be tied to a carrier and would have the OEM Unlock option after enabling the developer options. So far I don't' see the OEM Unlock option at all, which means I haven't made it past the pre-install instructions for LineageOS.
Device Info:
SM-T727U
Android 11
Baseband: T727UUEU2DUG2
CSC says "VZW/VZW/XAA"
I saw other guides recommending flashing the US Cellular SM-T727R4 firmware. I've tried that and it's failed each time, put the device into the "Your device failed to update" error screen, which required me to re-flash the latest SM-T727U firmware to just get it working again.
So, is it possible to enable the OEM Unlock for this device? If not, what specific hardware would I need to purchase to be able to install LineageOS on it?
North American Samsung models have not had user-unlockable bootloaders for years. That's just how it is.
If you want an unlockable model, you have to buy an international version
I thought the international versions were the SM-T720?
I don't know what the model number is for sure
Hello,
I've got under my care a Samsung Galaxy A40 (SM-A405FN). The phone has an unlocked bootloader, but was not rooted or otherwise modified. Several years ago, I have only unlocked its bootloader as a first step to rooting it, but did not go any further. The phone currently runs Android 9.
Is it possible to update the phone to a newer version of Android without losing data? OTA update is disabled and the text claims that it should be possible to update the phone using a computer.
