Dude, on TWRP just go to backup it will backup EVERYTHING. Restore via TWRP too.
But honestly m8 (i hope i don't sound like a jerk as i don't mean like that) if you don't know yet how to use TWRP backups maybe it's better to don't mod the phone.
Remember, Xiaomi phone on most of the world has no tech support or tech store to fix if something to badly wrong.
Full backups don't garantie too that you will be able to recover.

Internal Storage won't be backed up right? It seems on this phone (or a/b phones, coming from galaxy note 4 so don't really know) it requires you to wipe storage as well as everything else when flashing a new rom.

Yes, it wont be backup at all.
In fact how i do is FLASH first, wipe later so we are sure do not be stuck without a ROM in case we can't access internal storage after format.

Thanks for the advice,
This is why I like a removable micro SD card slot, but at the end of the day it has dual SIM considering everything else including price of course. So literally nothing worth complaining about when it comes to the hardware side of things. Software? I'm no coder so I'll leave that for others to judge.
If it had to be a choice between the two they made the right one.

I agree, SD card expansion is a MUST to flash and backup things. The only reason Xiaomi didn't include this option is to try to change people mind in to flash things.
Still USB Cables to USB sticks work at least

[REQ] Nandroid backup request (offering cash)

Just wondering if anyone who's flashing and rooting could please do a backup and upload it somewhere. Myself and a couple others have accidentally partitioned our internal SD incorrectly causing a catastrophic touch screen issue.
I'm hoping it'll have the properly partitioned SD storage because I'm having difficulty doing it manually. If someone could upload this it'd be hugely appreciated!!!
BUMP!!!
Can anyone please provide me with a Nandroid backup using Tenfar's recovery??? I can throw some money once I get my Paypal sorted out. I'm desperate, fellas!
Can someone please help? I'd like to try anything I can to get my phone working this weekend. It's been an entire week without my Atrix.

Im relatively new to android...is this backup you are speaking about a TB backup. Or what method of backup are you looking for?
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
You actually need to be rooted and have Tenfar's custom Recovery menu. In there it has an option to do a Backup.
If you're new it may be too engaging but I appreciate the offer nonetheless. If you could help, it'd be great. If it's too much trouble, I thank you anyway!
yeah what does the nandroid backup...back.. up? the apps?
What I'm HOPING and PRAYING for is that it'll also copy something in the internal SD which was partitioned due to my stupidity. dev/block/mmcblk0p18 is what that is in particular.
I tried manually formatting and partitioning it but I'm unable to do so. Fastboot freezes and Early USB Enumeration goes by so quickly I can't run the commands that I need through ADB. And I don't even know if that'll work because I made a script that executes the commands and I get weird errors. I'm far from an expert and monkeyed around too deeply where I shouldn't have.
About 4-5 others are reporting the same problem. The ****ty thing is that I'm in Canada and it'd be a huge pain to send it to Motorola. They're giving me a lot of grief and I've had to put up a big fight. Waiting to see if they'll send an RMA because I may need to send it in. When I get it back I might sell it and buy a Bell Atrix because I live in Canada and if something bad happens, it'll be easier to send to Bell or Motorola Canada.
from what i understand you have to have an unlocked bootloader to backup or restore using a nandroid backub
Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology then.. just need a backup from Tenfar's customer Recovery. I don't even know if it'll work but I'm out of ideas.
I'm at least thankful that the Xperia X10's bootloader was cracked. I forgot to send a replacement back to Rogers and I phoned them asking if I could use it for now. They thankfully said yes because they forgot to charge me for it lol... it's got some really great ROMs, but looking at this beautiful, mangled Atrix makes baby Jesus cry!
i can do that but im wondering why you dont try SBF file?? should work better than Backup

i was just wondering the same thing... it also be more stable as nandroid restore are not so good on some phones and im guessing especially on a locked bootloader one.
also a nandroid backup would also restore some else's settings and information on your device....

I've already tried the SBF files but it doesn't do anything to the internal SD. I need an actual backup because the user settings are exactly what I'm looking for. Normally you'd want a fresh flash from stock but I hope you now understand why I'm asking this constantly.
Flashing to stock was naturally my first step. Unfortunately it had failed. About 5 others reporting the same problem.

What maybe you could do is? go into tenfars cwm recovery go to mounts and storage and format the internal sdcard and system and boot and data. This is safe as far as I know and me and tenfar have both done this.I literally formatted every single thing in the option menu. just to see if I could do it. Which was stupid but I was curious and used to do that before I installed new roms on my old backflip all the time! Also might wanna do a factory reset through cwm and clear dalvik cahe as well for good measure. Now after you format all that. reboot system which will send you in a boot loop/wont boot past first screen. Pull the battery and unplug usb cable from charger. Then reboot and enter rsdlite mode by holding volume up and the power button. Now just flash your 4.1.26 sbf file through rsdlite 5.0
As long as you flash back to retail 4.1.26 afterwords using rsdlite 5.0 that should put everything right! As I have done this and my phone is working normal.
I better put one of them warnings here though anyway lol

IMO if sbf dont help i really doubt a recovery will....
perhaps i highly recommend if someone do this, create a new account of gmail and flash a sbf file since the OP will have all sensitive data as email, contacts and so on as previous post say

I was not aware of this and was so focused on correcting the challenge that this was a complete oversight. On second thought, I don't want to compromise anyone's security.
I had in mind a fresh backup, preferably for AT&T's 1.2.6 SBF but it's a bit of trouble and a lot of space. I retract my request due to the amount of work involved and that I don't want to compromise anyone's security in case they don't clear their user details, etc.
Thanks for pointing that out, knigitz. I think ADB access in the Recovery is our best bet. Crossing my fingers.

Hello, I used LG Backup to to restore my data, but I'm afraid that since you did a factory reset on your device, you have no data of to restore, UNLESS you backed up some data on your computer and unless your Google account backed up some of your data, but other than that, you have lost all your data.

Next time if anything goes wrong with your device again, backup all your music, photos, videos, etc using LG Backup app on the LG G2, and heres what I did, once LG Backup completed the backup I've made, I go to my computer and plug in my device and set the method to MTP, then I look for a folder called "LG Backup" I copy this file and paste it onto my desktop, and so that once I've factory reseted my device, I can just go to my computer again, plug in my device as MTP, copy the LG Backup file, and paste it into the LG Backup folder that's inside my device, and my personal files will be restored.[emoji4]

so if you didn't wipe/format sd card but only system partition you can copypaste folders/files to external usb otg stick directly from twrp

Reset S4 with broken LCD

Hi guys, i've broken my Galaxy s4 lcd some day ago, and yesterday i've decided to sell it on ebay.
But now i have to wipe it. The problem is that i am running a custom Touchwiz rom and Philz touch recovery. So i don't think i can use Kies to make a factory reset.
I can use Odin to flash a stock image etc... But i don't know how to solve completely my problems.
Can someone help me? Thx

Odin will fix it.
Flash the stock ronin Odin. All your user data will be (sort of) removed.
A skilled user could still recover your user data' but most people won't even know its there.
You will not need the phone's screen to work at any point in the Odin process.

Odin will wipe the data as well as Kies will.
But neither really removes the data. Both just remove the directory structure which makes it easy to sort the data.
To really remove the data you need to overwrite it with new data. That is much more difficult to do without access to the screen on the phone.
You could do it in recovery with the device mounted via usb to a computer. But you generally need to select that in recovery using the touch screen.
You can also push data to the device to overwrite using adb, but its more difficult.
All in all though...unless you have evidence of your participation in a crime on the phone, don't be so worried about it. It will be okay.

Since Google implemented Trim in Android 4.3, it's impossible (as of yet) to recover deleted data. I tried several guides here on XDA on data recovery and none of them work anymore.
See for example this article.
http://forensic.belkasoft.com/en/why-ssd-destroy-court-evidence
So basically if you delete a file or format your system, the data is really gone.

It wont ever wipe the external sd card
The internal sd card should depend on the tar file and if it formats that partition or not.
I never really paid attention to it myself because I have never had to flash a full stock restore on my S4 so I have no idea what the standard for S4 firmwares is.
The internal data partition though should be wiped with a full stock firmware in odin every single time.

Well, it's not. Believe me. I used to flash stock rom on S4 number of times and I can confirm that flashing stock rom with Odin DOES NOT WIPE any user data. Your photos and other files stays intact as well as the apss ( you may loose some apps internal data ) until factory reset is performed either from stock recovery or from rom itself.

Thx

if your S4 opens, just connect it to the PC and then the internal memory will appear
delete whatever you wants

All data gone after install of cm13, please help!

Hello everyone!
This evening I decided to try out cm13, since I really liked their predecessors. I backed up my phone with twrp, did a factory reset and installed cm13. I then rebooted my phone but received the message that there is a problem with my internal storage. I rebooted again and received the same message but was able to setup cm13, only to find out everything is deleted. Photos, contacts, other media and worst of all, my twrp backups. I would really, really appreciate help since I would be loosing photos of my last 7 months of travelling around Australia and Asia. Thanks so much in advance !

Did u install gapps?
Before wiping u should ve save ur backups to your SD card, sorry man u ve lost everything
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Sorry to hear you've lost everything. What you could try to do is install everything through ADB and hope it will be bootable at least.

I downloaded gapps, but it didn't show up in my download list so I ignored it for the moment.
My phone doesnt have a SD card slot unfortunately. Maybe a data recovery firm could help me?
Thanks for the reply!

The phone is bootable and cm13 works really well, but its just as if I bought a new phone. There's literally nothing on there :/

Luckily you were smart and backed everything up via google photos. Next time you flash CM13 make sure you flash the gapps and the ROM together in one go or else your going to experience problems.

I was going to say to use Google photos in the future. But you already saved yourself. Pictures are the only things I would be crushed over losing, so I love how it just backs them up automatically. Real life saver!

To be honest I wasn't really aware that I had them backed up but all good now, definitely taught me a lesson tho.
And yes, will definitely do!

Possible to Recover Data from Soft-Bricked S7 Edge?

I have a Canadian S7 edge and it had been rooted for a long time, but I lost the root when I updated to android 7.0.0. I foolishly tried to root it the exact same way I had before (Odin and .tar file method) and now my phone refuses to fully power on. After the boot logo, some new "integrity verification" has failed and I get a message saying my only option is apparently to factory reset and loose everything since my last backup. I'm wondering if there's any way to either:
a) Recover my data first. My PC won't read my phone at the "integrity verification failure" screen, however, my phone can boot into download mode (still unreadable, though). I've tried a few sketchy phone recovery programs on free trials, and none of them were able to read my phone (though none seemed high-quality anyway).
b) Flash stock firmware and fix this all. I am currently downloading stock 7.0 firmware and CSC files for my region/carrier, and I'm wondering if flashing this will pass the "integrity" check and put me safely back to square one, or if I'll lose everything there too.
I don't have a custom recovery currently either, though I realize that wiping my phone would mean I could quickly do that. But caving and wiping my phone is the last thing I want to do here. Any help here would be extremely appreciated!
First of all .. I think flash Stock ROM will erase all data.
but if you can flash custom recovery by ODIN and mount USB Storage to PC and manual backup your data .. it will be good idea if it possible.

If I flashed custom recovery, what exactly do you mean by mounting USB Storage to PC? Is that something I could do in the custom recovery (TWRP for example)?
Also, I'm okay with losing system settings or apps, but internal storage like images and music is what I really want to save.

Yes .. TWRP Exactly has option to mount device internal storage or micro sd card storage to PC so you can transfer files between device and PC.

So does this all mean that there's no way to root the S7 edge on Nougat yet, or is there a different way that'll work fine and I just made a dumb mistake?

When I say "no-go" I mean it's something that won't work. TWRP looks like it doesn't work anymore, when I read your problem that you posted, and the warnings on the TWRP website and XDA page.
I did some reading and it looks like flashing my stock ROM shouldnot delete my internal storage data, so I think that might be my only chance. If it doesn't work either, I'll factory reset, because I don't want to risk the same error you had.

Since you don't have anything to worry about (if it fails you can reset again), I'd try again and see if it works, if I were you.
Finally Successfully Rooted my Device.
I followed the instructions very well in this thread.

I'm currently factory resetting my phone (goodbye phone data ). I tried to flash a stock ROM and after a few failed attempts, it failed so bad I got a message saying the only thing I could do now was factory reset LOL. Not much I can do now but be glad I didn't 100% ruin my phone I guess.
I may try rooting again in the future, but I'll have to learn how to do it your way, since my way doesn't work right now.
