Massive battery drain on (Exynos) International S10+ after new firmware: G975XXU3ASIE - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Hi,
I just downloaded the new firmware for my S10+ exynos version via OTA. The firmware version is G975XXU3ASIE
I'm getting terrible battery drain after installing it. I've rebooted and wiped cache, but it hasn't made a difference. I can't seem to find what is causing the drain. Normally I am able to have my phone running the whole day and when I wake up the next morning it's be at 40-50% battery left. Now it's about 20% left instead, so theres definitely a huge drain.
Do I need to factory reset to resolve this issue?
Any ideas on what the problem could be? From what it looks like google play services is taking a massive amount of battery, but not running for a long time. Also, whattsasp, twitter and other social media services. But those weren't a problem before. I feel like play services might be the issues. So I cleared data on play services but hasn't seemed to make a difference.
Any other solutions, or do I need to factory reset? Thanks!
I've attached my battery stats for today, and for the week.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

Can anyone offer some advice?

On Android system turn off allow background activity... See if it helps?!

Doesn't that just turn back on when you restart the phone?

How much screen time are you getting roughly on a full charge?

3 hrs... Used to be 6 or 7.

if u have a exynos F variant how the heck did u get an X update? I though the X variants were reserved for LDUs?

BATTERY DRAIN Android Core Apps HELP

My phone gets down to 70% after less than 2 hours. It used to take probably like 3 or 4 hours to get to 70%. But I've also looked at the battery status and it says "Android Core Apps" has used 33% after an hour and 47 minutes on the battery. Look at the screenshot I attached. Please help?!

I haven't had the core apps problem, but I've had play services drain my battery extremely fast. I signed out of my accounts and then readded them. It helped me before maybe it would help you.
Also did you do a dirty flash?

Idk if I wiped cache and dalvic but no I didn't restore anything from tb I restored apps from kies because I got the mf9 update from kies.
I wpuld suggest Backup your apps/data using mybackup. Redownload ROM, go into recovery, wipe /data /cache /dalvic, reflash, and restore apps (apks w/o data I get FCS fro, apk+data) and data. Should fix your battery problem.

I say go odin back to stock mf9 and check whether your phone still gets hot or anything and to let your battery sink in for awhile then root and install your rom. Before doing this back up apps and internal memory since it will wipe it clean.

Having the same problem here.
Any help appreciated.
Same, MF9 update from MDL stock, unrooted
I'm having the same issue (coming from MDL stock, unrooted).
Is it the ROM? Is it Google Play? I'm not sure anymore, but i'm severely annoyed.
I had this problem until
I was experiencing the same issue on my phone. note I'm stock and not rooted. Until I updated the samsung apps.
For some reason the samsung app store had an update and was constantly waking my phone for the update, but because I had never agreed to the TOS(becuase I never opened the app) it wouldn't update resulting in battery drain.
I stumbled on the answer in a forum in regards to the G Note II. I was skeptical as to why it wouldn;t show the samsung app as being the culprit(something about using the google services core functions to update), but I know that it worked.
I'm sure an experienced dev can better explain why it shows as android os and not the Samsung app causing the drain.
If you already removed/froze those apps though I suppose you have a different issue.

Just did that and I never opened the "Samsung Apps" app too and just got the update. Hopefully this will fix it (Google Play services drain). Thanks man!
Shut down
Battery out for 30 secs
Restart
Worked for me
You could try a different kernel too. I use AGAT's Kernel. That kernel gives me SO much more battery juice.

Debating to factory reset due to sub-par battery life after updating to 7.0

I've been debating if I should do a factory reset because since updating to 7.0 the battery life hasn't been as good as it should be. So I'm wondering what the community thinks I should do and getting everything back is a pain in the ass. Battery life hasn't been the best since 6.0 when it was using the february security patch and I can't even go back down to that.
Has anyone had better battery life after factory resetting?

I prefer BK Disabler, the color codes used by PDP for the different types of packages is not as good as the tabbed view used by BK Disabler. At least for me.
Edit: another advantage of BKD is you can disable unnecessary services too.

But probably there isn't any difference.

I did a factory reset with wiping all cash twice and it didn't help. The battery life stayed as horrible as it was after the update.
Want to mention that i didn't disable any app when using my phone on Android 6.0.1. I had AOT turned on and my battery could handle up to 1.5 - 2 days. Now it's less than a day :/
Also, I wonder, if Samsung reduced the phone's battery life after the Note 7 problems (I've read couple of articles that they were planning to reduce it from 3600mAh to 3000mAh). Does anyone have any correct information about that ?
Thanks.

Turn your brightness down. Check background app usage, customize syncing, freeze or uninstall unused apps/app services. Go easy on data usage in areas with a weak signal. Polling kills your phone quick. Get a portable power supply

Your phone is running stock firmware, right?
My phone is E330S, korean version of s4 LTE A, hardware is the same. And normally I can get > 3h onscreen without gaming (stock firmware).
If you are running AOSP base rom, I can't tell.
I think you should buy a new battery.

Yeah it works , try updating to latest firmware as they have improved battery drain , you could turn off AOD , put some apps to sleep in the settings that you don't use and optimize battery usage for them. i was told Mobile Data consumes alot of battery , I'm getting 2% drain for the night unless I leave some downloads.

I have not. I have literally no idea why the phone is acting this way. I also don't know why my battery stats are not working on the app.
Also idk if this information will help my phone is a snap dragon 855 US variant.
I might try another factory reset. Could you give me a safe to disable list? Perhaps I could try just disabling little pieces at a time and see what happens. Maybe I uninstalled an important service or something.
For example I completely removed wellbeing from my device. Idk if it is important etc or had a role in certain services.

Sure, I have the exynos so that might explain why cpu spy works for me.
Google battery historian (there is a good reddit sub that explains how to use it) which might help identify some issues
I've attached my disabled list, just be aware that I have a 3rd party tracking app so I wouldn't recommend removing the find my device unless you have an alternative

Exynos LTE battery performance (Battery Historian)

Aware of the current discussion around the LTE drain issues with the Exynos version of the phone. Yesterday I did a full 24 hours off charge on exclusively mobile data and lost around 65% for 80 minutes SOT.
Before taking it back to Samsung I wanted to confirm that there wasn't anything else causing the drain . I'm no expert with battery historian but I can't highlight the causes beyond the following:
Screen off uptime: 3hrs 27 mins
Kernel Wakelocks: 5hrs 32 mins
CPU Usage: 2:32 of user time vs 5:14 of 'system time'
Kernel Overhead 1:45
"999:MAILBOX_CP2AP" - I suspect this is linked to outlook but can't be sure, causing 150 wakelocks an hour
"Abort:Some devices failed to suspend, or early wake event detected" - No idea what this is
Would anyone be able to provide any more information or assistance in analysing the chart?
Thanks in advance
Try to change outlook. My experience is that outlook was making battery drain crazy, remove it and got other phone.

Haven't and wont have an opportunity to do a fresh install for a while, need to do a day on wifi to compare the results.
I did spend a bit of time on wifi and adaptive power saving and it all but wiped out the "999" wakelock (I think this is because the system more aggressively bins the wakelocks "
Will also try safe mode/ removing outlook to see what happens
I'm having the exactly same issue of yours! 999:MAILBOX_CP2AP is appearing crazily! Do you found any solution yet? My phone don't have outlook installed, but the wakelock still going on crazily.. It seems only appearing actively during mobile data is turned on.
My battery has been doing great for me using LTE all day

I'm glad it's not just me! There is nothing on the internet about it either.
Will try staying in safe mode when I have the time

What outlook are you using? Is this the outlook from the play store or is it corporate setup outlook mail using some sort of exchange servers for synching?
I have since my note 9 disabled the stock Samsung email app and use only outlook. Since the stock email app for me was causing drain.

Strange. That's the only app I use for multiple email accounts that seems to be less resource hungry. I still have gmail all though.

I deleted outlook and the wakelock persisted, so it's not that, but I don't have another mail app so very confused.
The 999:mailbox wakelock still appears when on wifi but its negligible compared to when on LTE

Googling that process didnt yield much success.
I use accubattery pro and gsam. I tried to locate and install battery historian but couldn't find it. Maybe its for exynos only that app?

Unfortunately GSam and better battery stats currently don't work on exynos, I have accubattery but it doesn't offer much beyond basic battery stats
Battery historian uses the bug report that you can produce in developer options

Hmm I tried safe mode, even hard reset OS by sending to service center for them to do that for me, still same.
Although my battery life doesn't consider that awful but not satisfying. I started to doubt whether it's some hardware related issue.

And the wakelock persisted throughout? It might be nothing but the only difference I can see between wifi vs LTE
It's so good for battery on wifi but middling when on mobile data

Over a 50% battery usage period I get approx one or so less hours sot using LTE. If that makes sense. View attachment 4768566View attachment 4768567

I'm Exynos, dual SIM, I am an area manager and phone is my main work tool doing audits on them all say. Both Sims work overtime as I'm mobile all day in remote areas, the screen is an auto as I work outside and need full brightness and I use WQHD. Only thing i turn off is aod and I've done the stuff in the battery optimisation thread
I charge in the evening and get 24 hours on the battery , average is 7 hrs sot and 2 hours talk time
This is perfect for me
