Can anyone tell me after ATT flash GFI, can i get OTA? - LG V35 Questions & Answers

Hi, I bought a ATT Unlocked phone from Amazon, and i flashed GFI, however, the security path is June and the software Upadate showed me is the latest Version. There is the question, if I flashed GFI, I will cannt get OTA anymore?
Sorry for my poor English......

Even worse

I have even worse english, but here I go. I bought an ATT unlocked too.. in June I think, and hasn´t received a single OTA update.. not even security patches.. and I don´t even know what a GFI is. So, we are in the same boat. I´m not in the USA, so that´s even worse. Someone commented that if you insert an ATT SIM and register on their network (not necessarily as client), you can get the updates. But being outside the sweet land of the USA, I can´t check if that holds any truth. Good luck on your enterprise.. looks bumpy.

No, you can't get OTA updates for AT&T V35 phone cross flashed to Google Fi firmware. You won't receive updates from AT&T nor Google Fi. It's not a real Google Fi phone, as IMEI is different.
You can continue to flash new Google Fi KDZ updates as they are released -- if that's what you want to run.
However, unless you are actually using Google Fi service -- and even if you are -- you should consider flashing V35 NAO firmware. No, you still won't receive OTA updates on that either, but at least you'll be on the most useful firmware.

Not if you've already cross flashed to non-AT&T firmware. You can't return to AT&T firmware, as AT&T does not release full image KDZ.
And since it's not a true Google Fi phone, you won't get OTA updates on that.
Even if you were using Google Fi service on that former AT&T V35, all you would connect to is T-Mobile towers, not Sprint towers... Which is why V35 NAO firmware is the BEST firmware to use for people who don't want AT&T V35 firmware.
Forget OTAs. You'll never get them on that phone now.
You can only manually flash updates via KDZ with Dev Patched LGUP. From now on, you can use "Upgrade" mode and is like a manual OTA update. You won't lose any data since you are just updating the variant firmware you already have.

All firmwares except AMZ have NAO in the title, which firmware are you recommending?

On LG Firmwares, all the NAO KDZ appear identical.
So, any one of those should be OK.
But as a rule, I wouldn't download "Google Fi" titled firmware if you're not using a phone certified for Google Fi AND/OR you're not using Google Fi service.

Sm-g935u for t-mobile

Hi
Has anyone tired SM-G935U for T-Mobile does wifi calling works, and video calling.
I gave it a go yesterday. I would not recommend it. It seems like it is causing issues, if you follow the thread on it. Also if you are on the July 1st security patch (the update that came out on 07/08/2016) then trying to flash the G935U firmware will softbrick your device. Either way the best way to get back to stock is to use Smart Switch and re-initialize the phone. You will lose all of your internal data either way.

Are you asking about SM-G935U firmware on the SM-G935T or using the SM-G935U on the T-mobile network?

SM-G935T is on v3 while SM-G935u is on v2 which is causing the softbrick .
Have anyone tried this recently? as of October 1st? Reports on the AT&T forum seem to suggest that it's working now.
where is the link at for the new G935U UPDATE FOR TMO
this is encouraging please keep us informed of any progress
I have the SM-G935U Olympic edition running on T-Mobile with the latest firmware PG9, Aug. 1st patch and I can see LTE+ every now and then. I do also see the option for WIFI-Calling and VOLTE. I can not verify if they worked properly but the options are there. Im not rooted because I still want Samsung Pay for now. ROM seems fast and good battery life and no T-Mobile BLOAT I was able to uninstall (yes uninstalled not disable) even the samsung email app and samsung+.

It looks like the bootloader for the Unbranded version has increased. This should allow us to switch from T-mobile to U since they are now both at 4.
If you follow the release of older firmware it coincides with new bootloader revisions. If so then the AT&T, T-mobile and Unbranded version are all now at bootloader 4 which allows us to flash any one of them.
For example, if you look at the history of firmware releases for the T-mobile variant, you'll note the number has changed when the bootloader has been updated.

Not sure if you know about it, but your phone is basically showpiece from showrooms or shops, that's the X in your version number. This kind of phones are not intended to be sold for customers.
You will never got more updates as you already have, so your only option is to flash it manually.
Bootloop problem is not dependant on software version. It doesn't matter if you have 5.1 or 6.0.

Do you have an accurate source to backup your wild claims?
My EU (UK) H815 v20d-EUR-XX is currently downloading the update.
No need for a manual flash and my device certainly was not a store demo model.
Hello,
My G4 is unlocked and ROOTED and the update is available and in downloading atm.
There are something I should to know about the fact that my smartphone ROOTED evening before applying the update?
Could this affect my G4?

Sure,
We are not talking about the same thing.
Look again, and maybe twice at his version number: It's is VX10c-EUR-XX
I'm not talking about XX, but about the first "X"... see?
Sure, your device is the same as mine v20d-EUR-XX which is a retail model, but this is not the case for VX10C-EUR-XX which is unfortunately a demo model
Ok, finally, it seems that I can't update automatically with a G4 ROOTED.
When I launch the update this message pop "phone restarting"
Then boot directly on TWRP... (>_<)

Off you can't. You have another recovery. Use LG UP and flash it. Easier can't be. Note you will lose root and the recovery.

Go to thread about the Portugal update and download the KDZ from there. Any link from that thread is the international H815 update. Don't worry about countries and shenanigans is the same firmware for all. V20g-EUR-XX. Install LG UP on your PC. First the DLL then the program. Place the KDZ in your LG UP install directory (Crogram Files (x86)/LG Electronics/LGUP/model/8994). Put your phone in download mode. (With phone turned off press Volume UP and with it press plug in the USB cable). Click refurbished option for a complete wipe and clean flash. Before all this make a backup. You can also select upgrade option to avoid wipe but I always recommend a clean flash. Read the according threads in XDA for further information if you need.
It seems the h818p will not be updated(yet)?
@src151 thanks for the info. I didn't knew that demo phones can have the GSM module. At least I got it at a very good price
I will upgrade manually then.

Can someone send me in the right direction - G930V --> G930U?

I have tried multiple zips to try to get the U software on my phone but always ends up not booting. It will show galaxy S7 and then boot straight back into recovery.
Can someone please provide a link to the exact download files I need. Sorry to start a thread over this. I'm just having a hard time finding the correct files. Thanks in advanced.
Anyone?
It should be as (simple) as..

Downloading the proper firmware from SamMobile -> https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G930U/
Flash the firmware via odin (you can use the same method found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/official-stock-firmware-update-odin-t3335065)
Profit

Bootloader is locked because it is a snapdragon variant. Only downside is can think is you would have to pay your bill in store or on a PC. Lte seems the same. Yes if nougat is on. You just load up the most recent U firmware and flash over nougat in odin.

it shoudl be simple...but it failed for me in one of my two phones. now it keeps going to recovery (downloading the original firmware to reflash it). the one that worked was a SMG930VZDA (made in vietnam) while the one that didn't is a SMG930VZKA (made in korea). I hadn't updated either one from the original firmware, but not sure what firmware they came with....
so if it works, it's great, but if it fails...

You can still use the My Verizon app to pay, if you want to. You do lose Verizon's native VVM app, but there are workarounds to use Voice or another third-party VVM app (I personally use YouMail).

Hey your right! One less hassle.
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a new g930r4 (US Cellular) because my last samsung got stolen. Anyway, the first time I turned on the phone, I started having multiple issues (kept rebooting, unable to recognize headset, kept freezing). Then I decided to change it to the g930U firmware and I noticed a HUGE difference. I totally recommend this to anybody that has same problems I mentioned. Thanks to all the information from this post, I was able to successfully flash the firmware. Thank you all for the support! I hope this helps someone out there whos still got some doubts.
Hello, I have the SM-G930V Snapdragon variant in the US and I would really like to root it to get a custom ROM. If you wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate a reply (if you have one) to this thread I made on the topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s7/help/questions-bootloader-rooting-custom-t3721109

Turning the International version of unlocked S8 to the US version of T-Mobile

Hello,
I have recently purchased an S8 on newegg.com (Samsung Galaxy S8 G950FD Dual SIM GSM Unlocked) and wanted to see how I could get the T-Mobile bootloader on the phone, as I have noticed that my data speeds have been extremely slow compared to my old + other phones that were US versions and came with T-Mobile software. Currently, there are no options for VoLTE, Enhanced Network options, etc. that I usually find, even though I am on the T-Mobile network and went to their store to get a new SIM card. I found instructions here to switch to any carrier firmware 100%, but wasn't sure if this would ultimately help achieve my goals of increasing network speeds on my phone. Also, it calls to download and install "G950W firmware", but I wasn't sure if it would be okay since my phone is G950FD.
Here are the phone specs that I have pulled:
CP: G950FXXU1AQL5
CSC: G950FOXM1AQL5
Model: SM-G950F/DS
Am I correct to assume that once I follow those instructions, it should be relatively straight forward, and would make my phone as if I had bought it from the T-Mobile store (US version)? Are there any changes to the instructions that I need to make for my phone specifically?
I bought mine as an unlocked Verizon phone but use ATT. I downloaded Samsung Smart Switch on my Windows PC. When I started it I was able to update the firmware to the layest.. When the phone rebooted afterwards a message popped up on the phone saying that I had "Switched SIM Card Carrier" and then proceeded to download the ATT S8 apps and swapped the bootloader to an ATT bootloader. All VZW apps were removed as well and ATT native apps work now including visual voicemail and number sync with Samsung Gear 2.

It finished and just rebooted the phone without asking me anything about SIM card changes or carrier settings. Now I just have Android Oreo instead of Nougat.

Sorry man, it worked for me. My phone is a Samsung S8 G950u so it may be different but I can only attest to what worked on my particular phone. I bought it as an unlocked phone on eBay and it came with Verizon firmware. It sealed to match my ATT SIM after updating with Smart Switch.

no problem. it was def worth a shot.
so after doing some more self research I guess that I shouldn't follow those instructions from the link that I provided since that is for "G950U", and I have a "G950F". any ideas on how I could get Tmobile stuff on the G950F?

Android 11 decreased my SOT by close to 2 or 2.5 hours. Wanting to flash back to Android 10 (HELP)

So I just bought a used Galaxy s10 Plus on eBay. I was getting amazing battery life and great SOT but I was forced to download Android 11 by force update and now my SOT has gone down almost 2.5 hours from when it was previously running on Android 10. I despise having to deal with these issues even though its a used phone. On the SamMobile website I found the correct PDA G975U1UES5GUD1 but I can't find the CSC code on my phone and I am afraid I will flash the wrong firmware and damage the phone.
How can I Find the CSC code on my phone? The device is been used on Verizon prepaid via Red Pocket Mobile and its Factory GSM and CDMA unlocked. I would really appreciate any help I can get with this.
Thank you so much in advance.
Hello there, you are talking about the consumer software customization code right?

If you are you can find it by dialing *#1234# on the dial app. But i think it is VZW since you've said the carrier is Verizon.

Seems like this is it since your carrier is Verizon. You are residing in the US, right?

You won't damage your phone if they mismatch, probably only carrier settings would break
But the link I gave according to that you are having Verizon as the carrier and you are living in the US when you got force OTA update then it’ll match.
That's if you can go back.
Doesn't 11 update the boot loader version too?
Well yeah now that you mention it probably.
Hmm, but there should be a way of degrading the software even so.

If he uses Odin he can downgrade fine enough,
Unfortunately, I think he'll lose his data though.
I haven't downgraded from One UI 3.0 before since I only got a A21s.

I'm still running Pie. It's what I've been seeing here about the 11 update updating the boot loader too. Maybe that's OTA upgrades only.
Not a concern of mine though.
Data loss is a given... at least be prepared for it.
Yeah, I agree since I'm still running 10 Idk really about bootloader changes from 10-11.
But if that's the case then Its probably impossible to downgrade without getting a bricked phone.
Doublecheck the bootloader version code of both versions of android so you don't brick your phone.
This is starting to sound too risky I do appreciate everyones help on this post honestly but at this point I am not going to risk messing up a $330 phone. But thank you all for making things clear.

Well, you can wait for the fix then. Maybe Samsung will release a fix to solve that issue

Yeah hopefully thank you for your help tho. Appreciate it.
No problem, but if the kernel hasn't changed the ROM can be downgraded. If it has you can just take it to Samsung and ask them to downgrade for you.
My friend did that.
