The food cant play media player or video. Everything works fine apart from these. I have cleared apps caches, done factory reset and hard reset but still. I need help fixing this problem.

For some reason, everytime I try to view a video in Whatsapp, my MyTouch 4G tries loading Twobile Screen Share. This didn't used to happen. Can someone give me ANY ideas as to why this might be happening?? It's so frustrating. I used to be able to view videos fine in whatsapp and now it's like it wants to use Twobile as it's default viewer?? So strange. I can't seem to reassign the default video viewer either.
PLEASE help, if you have any thoughts.
You've gone into settings>apps>whatever app its opening in and clearing defaults?

There aren't any defaults set in whatsapp or the stupid Screen Share program. Whatsapp used to use the stock gallery media player to play videos. Should I uninstall and reinstall whatsapp?
ok, so i recently just got my new moto x and its perfect besides these 2 problems im having with the quick capture feature and playing music from touchless control.
The first is playing music i would tell google now to play a song e.x" ok google now. play tunnel vision" it would pull the command up and tell me" playing tunnel vision by JT" then it loads it to google play music app but instead of playing the song it just does a search in the app and not play it. its really a hit or miss with this feature as i got it to work for about 10mins but then the problem reemerged. Through some searching i found that the touchless control problem is a bug apparently. any verifcation on this would help alot.
the other problem is with the quick capture feature in the phone. ive practiced the motion many times with flicking your wrist and have gotten it to do it multiple consecutive times but i can only do this if ive previously manually opened the camera app. e.x the gesture wont work at all if i havent previously opened the app no matter how many times i twist the device but when i either open the camera unlocked or from the lock screen the quick capture starts to work perfectly everytime time i twist. is anyone else having these problems or does anyone have solutions?
I can't get the music to start right either. The first time I tried it asked which app to use. I selected PowerAmp. Now it starts PowerAmp but doesn't start the song.
As for the camera, I hold the phone in my hand and then make a quick movement like I'm trying to flick a booger off my finger and it works everytime. : )
I've heard others mention that with playing the music, you have to select whether you want to use Google Play. I've never used the feature because I do all my music through Pandora, but you may need to select Google Play Store or Google Play Music app to play stuff on your device.
As for the camera motion, I was confused about it at first for quite a while. I was "twisting" the device by holding it vertically in portriat mode and rotating my wrist left or right (turing the phone clockwise or counterclockwise while still keeping it vertical).
Once I figured out that you flick it side to side (turn the device to face left/right quickly) instead of rotating, it works every time.
About the TC problem I've already selected Google play music to play the songs but it doesn't play the songs just uses the search in the music player. Its weird cuz it worked for a while but then just stopped
And I'll try motion u suggested hope it works and thanks

Click to collapse
Could also try going to the Google Search or Google Play Music app settings and click the "clear defaults" button.
The motion you told me does seem to work better now thanks!
Clearing defaults isn't available for me to press saying I don't have any set

Okay,
To recap, im not a novice i've been on these forums since my S3! :good:
Moving on..
Before when I had marshmallow when ever I listened to streaming music ORSaved mp3 collection on my SD card. I could be driving down the road and listening to my music then a text would come in and I would push the MIC button on the samsung keyboard and it would always pause while I dictated, then resume playing or streaming!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X95qtx1vPMI This is my video to show what I mean.
Since this new nougat update, Plain and Simply.... I CANT! Not just Bluetooth, the phone speaker too!
I use Spotify and Poweramp to listen or stream.
Using the process of elimination i tried the following...
1) Complete Factory Reset.
2) Changing and resetting permissions to the keyboard app and the music apps.
3) Installing a different keyboard app ( Swiftkeyboard )
4) Safe mode reboot and test..failed.
5) Wiping the CACHE partition.
6) Clearing Data on Samsung Keyboard App.
GET THIS!
If using the Google Assistant to dictate, the permissions grant it to pause any app that is outputting sound.
I've called verizon, THEY ARE DUMBFOUNDED.
I've Tried Samsung+ Live tech support.. They are escalating it!
HELP IF YOU CAN!
my thoughts are..
1) the samsung keyboard app doesn't have high enough permissions to keep the music paused.
2) the update has a bug in the keyboard app.
3) Google assistant will not allow the keyboard app to put a hold on it.
Hello,
I started having some strange issues with audio and video playback on my Nexus 6P. It seems that my phone has suddenly lost the ability to play any audio or video file. In Google Photos app if I try to play a local video file it just informs that the file cannot be played. If I try to shoot video using Google Camera it just informs that the connection to the camera is lost. I cannot listen to Google Music or even the system ringtones & notifications. Even the alarm clock starts without any sound(only vibration).
I don't know what exactly caused this. My phone is rooted and I'm using custom roms. Lately I've been using Pure Nexus and Substratum themes. I suspect that the problem started after switching the theme in Substratum.
I have already wiped my phone from recorery(TWRP) and clean installed the rom & gapps. That didn't seem to help so I clean installed another rom(Nitrogen OS). I still seem to have the same issue.
Could this be hardware related issue? Any ideas?
Hi all
Have a rooted S8, everything is running fine apart from one little glitch... The Google Play Movies app won't allow me to view purchased films offline. I am able to stream, no problems, I can download the item but once downloaded, said film won't play. I receive an error message saying I need to restart device... Which doesn't work BTW!
So far I have cleared app cache, uninstalled app and reinstalled, updated app, tried the download on internal and external memory, no luck. I have tried all different movies. The app works fine on my tablet. So it's device specific. I have spoken to Google who have confirmed my account is clear and phone is connecting on OK.
Has anyone else encountered this or have any suggestions... It's very frustrating.. I can only think the rooted handset is causing a glitch?
Thank you in advance, Jackie
Have you tried using a different player? Or download it and move it in your google drive and use the drive's default video player?
Hi, thanks for your reply
I believe you can't use any other player... the format of the video, which is broken up into separate segmented files for this specific reason, is only playable via their (Google) own app.. And I'm not sure how you would download it to Google Drive...
Would love to know if anyone else has experienced this issue...
