im betting your partitioning table is messed up. In Odin, there is a pit tab that you can use to correct issues like these. the pit file is inside the CSC. Get the phones firmware, unpack the csc to get the pit, then reflash everything in Odin, this time also flashing the pit and then re-root it
Hi... I used to get the same error when I first installed the TWRP recovery on my phone every time when Inused to flash or wipe something. What you can do is find the right twrp kenzo file for your device from the website and reflash the TWRP recovery. It ahould fox the error. It did for me. It happens sometimes if you don't get a clean installation.

dear fellows,
think i bricked my tab at least partially with rom-manager: did nothing more than select "reboot to recovery", after that the tab hangs at boot at the "samsung 7.7" screen.
tried to flash only the sbl, kernel, factoryfs etc., nothing worked!
recovery and download mode work fine, i can even flash different stuff without problems. but again, afterwards it wont boot!
guess i need to repartition the device, therefore i would need the proper PIT file for the "normal" 6810 (wifi) 16GB version of the tab!
can someone please provide?
thx!
Try doing a stock samsung 3e recovery Data wipe/factory reset.
Then reflash stock firmware with odin.

Thanks, but this does not work either, recovery says it can't mount /system partition! And I flashed a few different stock firmwares as well, with the same result. Odin runs without error message, then the device wont boot...
Therefore I'm almost sure I need to repartition, but for that I would need the PIT file...
Again, can please someone provide the PIT for 6810 16GB?

This is from heimdall from my p6810 16G.
Be warned: I have not used this myself. I don't know if its good.
If you have some way of checking a pit, please do so (I have attached the text version as well).
Taken with Australian DTKL5 firmware on device.
Use this at your own risk!
My phone is stuck on firmware on "upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again."
I tried Kies 3 and it doesn't recognise the phone. I tried different firmwares the invalid .4ext error and says the file too big 475000 < 512000 something among those lines. I read that I will need to re-partition the memory with .PIT file for the note 4, which is no where to be found on google. I hope someone will be kind enough to extract the .PIT file from their phone and post it here.
Cheers,
Mus

N910F
I tried many way nothing happen i cant use odin fail in everything i try to flash with rom or recovery. and now phone keep restarting and i cant wipe data?? anything i add or delete after restart go back like before like nothing happen?????
Guys I tried flash latest Sweden and have same problem size too big and ext4 failed, then I flash Philz recovery and voila phone booted everything its ok!!!
If you download a stock Samsung ROM, remove the .md5 from the end of it, and then extract the archive, you should find the PIT file in there.
I've not had to do it myself, because I'm using an S4 at the moment and was able to get a PIT file download on its own. So I can't verify 100% that it will be there, but I read it in a thread somewhere that it is.
Give it a try..
same problem
i hv same problem. but after instaling all samsung recovery.tar via odin it stuck on start up showing "android is not seandroid recovery."
i hv tried dfrnt stock firmware to flash via odin but all fails. need help?????????????
So my brand new SD care went corrupt while I had a lot of programs running from it... By means of Link2SD app I put system files on there too and now I get
E:failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)
I can't seem to fix this problem and it doesn't seem that this problem arises very often because I have found nothing in searching. Any help would be great... I don't want to have to put a hammer to it and then call Asurion for a replacement..... but that does sound fun lol.
I have tried to Odin everything I have in my backups but not sure if any of those are actually the original rom. I have been trying to figure out how to Odin CM or TWRP on to it... or get them install in some form with out the APK. I saw something about them being able to fix the issue.
Have you tried using ODIN and flashing back to a fresh, stock ROM?

Our phones do not support CM or TWRP because we have a locked bootloader. You are on a Verizon G900V, right?
Here's a link to a post with stock ROMs you can Flash via Odin. Choose the appropriate one for the version you want and Flash. Make sure you back up anythibg you want to save.

It doesn't matter what I flash I get the same error. The other things I have found say that the system and/or EFS needs to be re-made so to speak. TWRP has a command that does it and CM allows you to go in though ADB and do it..... That is the best I have found for answers so far. I don't see anything for FlashFire or SuperUser.
Flash using ODIN not FlashFire or anything else.
I have flashed with Odin.... I get no where.... doesn't matter what kernel I use or ROM or anything.... I was saying that the people that have solved this porblem before are using CW or TWRP to access the ADB to send commands for the phone to re-setup the system/EFS
Did you Flash the pit file on the page I linked earlier? That should repartition everything.
Still the same problem
So I just kept flashing tar files from the post above and finally the NI2 took along with the pit file. Thanks for your help @btonetbone
Eventually the NI2 + .pit file being flashed together fixed the problem.
Have S5 SM-G900F - 16GB with PhilZ Touch 6.26.2 and Clockworkmod V6.0.4.7
Was using XtreStoLite_ROM_v2.2_LP_XXU1BOD3 and Blaze.Kernel_ver15 that I installed through SD card and Recovery.
As my S7 has shipped (finally) I want the GF to have my old S5 but need THL (Thailand) system support (I.E. not just thai language but also on the system menus).
I downloaded what I thought was a ROM for this but at the end of Odin flash I had Bad EXT4 flash and on phone 'invalid ext image size is too big'
Reading through the thread someone stated you need the .PIT.
I have ALWAYS avoided these but tried the SM-G900F_pit_16GB file. Yes I need a slap, I know better.....
OK so here it is, I do not know if NAND is corrupt as I do not know the symptoms.
Also, if I only have a soft brick, what is the best approach for recovery / ROM flash ?
Do I always need to do it from SD card / Recovery using a .zip?
Current state of phone.
Seen in Odin.
Can go into download mode.
Can now go into Recovery mode after flashing philz_touch_6.26.2-klte.tar.md5 in Odin.
Reboot loop (obviously, not valid ROM on it now).
I am assuming all is good and it's not a BAD brick, but still have not had a successful flash.
Many thanks
Yes I don't have many posts because I have always searched and found answers, but this time I am a little unsure and don't want to royally screw it up.
Help is much appreciated.

Yeah!
I tried various and get EXT4 file size incorrect errors.
It was the .PIT incident that was lead from that error.
I have since re-acquired the original de-oxed ROM and flashed that from .zip on SDcard.
All good now, I just thank god I didn't screw it up with a .PIT file.
I was lucky! Leave them files for the DEV's and ignore posts that suggest getting a .PIT file and trying that for .EXT4 partition errors.
Reading posts later, chances are that your getting that error because you have the wrong ROM to flash, having a hidden partition in the ROM, from someone like the UK EE provider.
Hope you remembered to disable reactivation lock during first boot
The reason the ROM was removed in the first place...
Hi,
I am trying to install custom rom on my Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime (SM-G530T). I have tried several recoveries. The one seems to work well is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gra...om-recovery-twrp-2-8-7-0for-lollipop-t3190351.
I can go into recovery but when I try to install a custom ROM from the recovery (trying to install this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-prime/development/rom-lollipop-deodexed-t3241741). I get the following error:
E:Unable to mount '/data'
E:Unable to mount '/preload'
Is there a way to overcome this and install a custom rom and bring the phone back to life? I have erased everything and there is no backup. So I can't boot the phone at all now. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
CS71

Can someone provide me with a PIT file for SM-G530T (T-mobile)? That might help my cause.
Have you tried a factory reset? Also, I may have a pit file for you. I don't remember where I got it from, but I think it was in a thread here. I will check when I get home later.

First thing you do is download the firmware on your computer unzip the file you should have the tar file and pit file in the zip. Use Odin put the tar file in AP slot then the pit file in the pit box. I usually check the options
