Lose sim unlock when restoring custom rom - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got an sm-g900t running RR O 8.1.0 custom rom. I got a sim unlock code so I restored the stock rom. I successfully unlocked the sim. Then after restoring back to my custom rom, the sim is no longer unlocked.
I've read that this shouldn't be happening but yet it is. Is there a trick specific to the S5? Do I need to reflash the RR rom and start fresh? I hope there's a better way so I don't have to go through getting my settings back to how I like them.
Thanks for any insight.
Update: I restored back to stock, unlocked the sim again, then made a backup of the EFS, and finished by restoring all but the EFS of my RR custom rom. Success - I'm right back where I was and still have my sim unlocked.

So i flashed the out of the box stock firmware through adb and reset everything but no sim detection on stock either... How do i get my connection back?

SIMcard not detected, what is going on?

Hi,
I am getting a bit lost. I have a LG G2 which I recently upgraded to MM (last stable Bliss).
Before the upgrade I was using Stock KK , that worked fine. Now I upgraded the phone, and it looks like no SIMcard are working anymore. I tried several, they all give the dutch error 'kaartfout' (cardfold). When I check the settings, it tells me no SIMcard is inserted. But it is inserted, and it is inserted the way it should be.
What is going on?
What model?Maybe it was unlocked and with all the wipes unlock was lost?
LG D802 (is that sufficient information?)
I have no idea how to find out if it is currently locked.
Can it help to flash a new radio?
It's because your phone has a kitkat bootstack. What you need to do is go back to stock jb/kk, upgrade to LP -before rooting-, root, autorec, upgrade to the latest twrp and flash the rom. You can also flash the LP bootstack ( instead of going back to stock), but I don't recommend it, as it may cause problems.
Here are the two threads that will help you:

Baseband & IMEI unknown after flashing CM14 on SM-N910C

A few nights ago, I flashed CM14 with Nougat on my SM-N910C. Unfortunately, ever since the flash finished, my phone stopped reading any SIM cards. The baseband and IMEI both read "unknown" in the settings. Is there any way to return these? I'm okay with anything as long as it ends up making my phone usable again.
I'm not an expert at this, so please explain stuff your help is appreciated, thanks!
Bump! Please help me out!! Any tips appreciated

Did you made efs backup from twrp before flashing rom ?
If you have efs back up then restore it.
If not then Try flash stock 6.0.1 firmware via odin and do factory reset from stock recovery after flash.

Downgrading from CM 14 Nougat to stock TW 5.0 lollipop???

Sorry if I'm posting in wrong section actually I'm a newbie
Hi all, I've updated my Note 3 SM-N900 to Cm 14 nougat 7.1.1 unofficial lonage os by ha_3g. Now i want to go back to my stock Twiz 5.0 lollipop, is it possible I've all my rom backedup by TWRP. Can i restore my backup without any problem?
Thanks in advance
nah, usually i just flash my firmware using odin without backup
Usually if you want to revert back to stock firmware, everything will be removed, including your custom recover(TWRP in this case), miscellaneous files and folders that were previously on your custom ROM. So, in summary, you won't be able to recover your backed up apps/data as TWRP will get wiped out as well, being replaced by the stock Samsung recovery.
Yep, wipe system, data, cache & dalvik then restore your backup.
Before updating I've backed up my stock Twiz rom via TWRP, now i just want to revert back to my Stock rom which was lollipop 5.0. I'm afraid bcz I've seen some where that we cannot install 5.0 (lower version) over 7.1 (greater) version it will brick the phone bcz of some bootloader issues, btw I've not messed up with bootloader, so plz advise me if it will be safe or not.
Lot of Thanks for the members of the forum who replied in no time & who r ready to help. Salute to all of u. you people r great
Only a stock firmware flashed with Odin can upgrade your bootloader.
And the latest official firmware for Note 3 is Lollipop 5.0.
So your bootloader still 5.0 even if you flashed a nougat rom.
Even more, custom roms don't touch bootloader or modem partitions, ever.
Go ahead
Hey bro. Just go to sammobile.com and download your rom and flash via Odin. Only Odin can downgrade your BL and Modem
Thanks alot for the clarification I'll go ahead now.
I can swap between 7.1 Nougat and 5.0 stock, with no issues, through my nandroids.
If you had a nandroid before, you shouldn't have any issue just using the TWRP function to restore your backup. It will be exactly as you had it before.
The only difference will be that you will still have TWRP installed, etc.
Anyways, you can swap back and forth as much as you like. You don't have to wipe anything, or use Odin, since you made a nandroid already.
Yes you can go back to lollipop . I have done that in my sm 900 exynos version. marshmallow and nougat drains battery

Please help. I messed up and now I can't boot the phone into any ROM I install on it.

Hi all. Long story short, trying to fix this phone up for a relative. I used the bootloader unlock to unlock it (it's a VZW variant). After, I flashed a CM14 nightly build. Shortly after, I purchased a new phone and it basically got put away in early 2016 if I remember correctly.
Well, yesterday, I tried wiping and flashing a rom called SkiesROM to it, which failed to boot after the AROMA setup. After, I tried flashing a QA1 stock rooted ROM which has also failed to boot and won't do anything except boot loop when it gets to the red verizon logo.
In short, I want to figure out how to get this phone working again on ANY Android version with TWRP. I don't know what version of firmware I'm on now. I don't know what bootloader version it is now. All I know is that I can access TWRP when I want to. I assume that gives me an edge in flashing whatever I need to flash on it.
I forgot that I needed to be on certain levels of firmware to change ROMs on this phone, so I think that's where I messed up and now I don't know how to backtrack and get into any working ROM. Can someone help me please?
TL;DR: I can get into TWRP. I don't know what firmware or bootloader version this thing is on. It's a VZW variant that I bootloader unlocked but I don't know if it's still bootloader unlocked. I want to boot this thing on any stable ROM even if it's a stock one. Please help me.
You can flash latest rom at https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/update-qi2-t3688046 with Odin and then reflash TWRP with Odin. Just make sure you flash the Dev Friendly version of the Rom so you don't lose your unlocked boot loader status.
If you can eat to recovery did you not back up your current ROM? Always back up always I bricked S7 before lol learned my lesson on that one but now on s5 mini so playing around is great but any more help you need if I can help mm
