GTA IV on Windows 8 RTM

Hello everyone,
I've installed GTA 4 on Windows 8 and I've a big problem : the GPU is not recognised by the game !
It starts with the Integrated GPU ( Intel Graphics ) with the total memory of 25 MBytes.
With the nVidia Optimus Panel I choose to start the game with the GPU nVidia but it starts with Intel Graphic too.
Does anyone know how to fix the problem ?!
Drivers are up to date and on Windows 7 system it correctly start with GPU nVidia.
I've an Acer Aspire 5755G
CPU : Intel Core i7 2670QM with Intel Graphics up to 2 GB.
GPU : nVidia GeForce GT540 M 2GB (up to 4GB)
RAM : 8 GB ddr3
HDD : 1 TByte
Thx.

Have you installed the driver for Windows 8? There is already a beta driver for this gpu.
I have Samsung RF711 and I had the same problem with Sleeping Dogs, game lagged as hell and when I looked in the device manager there was no mark of my GT540M so I had to download the driver, install it and then it came up.
If you force all apps to run on the dedicated graphics, will it work?

Every game executable forced to load with GT540 but nope.
I'm trying to install the game without the 1.0.7.0 patch that introduce the menu with the GTA IV: Episode from Liberty City.

[Q] Nexus Player loads SPMC slower than FireTV?

So... I can't tell if this is the dreaded "5GHz Network Drop Issue" or what, but I've noticed that my Nexus Player takes longer to load SPMC than my FireTV.
The NP has less RAM, but it has faster RAM and allegedly a better Atom processor than the AFTV's Qualcomm Snapdragon 600.
Is it because there isn't a separate build of SPMC for x86 processors?

I just tested it out... 20s for the NP to load, and 12s for the AFTV to load. I have the same plug-ins on both.
It turns out that it WAS the ARM package. When I switched to Kodi RC3, it boots up extremely fast.
Interesting. My Kodi loads instantaneously, so I was a bit confused on what you were talking about.

They need to rework the OS for tablets based on x5-z8300 SoC

I'm not sure if Microsoft tested the OS on the slowest hardware. I remember Windows XP could be ok on single core Celeron and 512 MB of ram.
I bought http://a.co/ibD1hNV few months ago and it wasn't too bad until I updated the tablet. Somehow it got even slower with the latest 1709.
I tested Lubuntu and Puppy Linux but drivers for video isn't good and their are missing portion of the screen. The default display is 1200x1920 which is correct. Puppy linux fully load entire OS on RAM and it's impressive on performance but yeah this is ram. It shows EMMC on these tablets are very weak. Both OS uses less ram. It shows that Windows 10 doesn't manage the ram really good even though used ram is good. I'm not sure why launching internet browser Edge slows the tablet down.

Lenovo yoga 3 pro x90l lte 64gb (za0g0083pl)

Hello Community.
Recently I found on internet Lenovo Yoga tab 3 pro model: LENOVO YOGA 3 PRO X90L LTE 64GB (ZA0G0083PL).As I see it has some differences from the bas old tab 3 pro model. First of all it has 4gb of ram and Intel Atom x5-Z8550. It is very strange but I can not find any solid information about it. If someone knows this tablet I would be grateful for some information.
- Can I root it and install any custom ROM and will it be a good option since it has Android 6.0 from the scratch?
- Can I install Windows on it since it is on Intel CPU?
- What about gaming performance? Can I play Albion Online, World of Kings or some Unreal Engine 3 games on a decent details?
- How about daily usage, web browsing, watching Netflix(HD with root?)
Thanks for any information.
This should work for your tablet

Make sure the first thing you do is make a backup before making any changes.
There are no custom roms available to my knowledge although someone was working on a modified stock rom but work seems to have long since stopped. And as lenovo have not released complete sources it is not likely to happen.
These yt3 pro tablets seem to have some issue with the kernel eating up ram! Only solution i know of to speed things up is to run the tablet unencrypted. Difference is like night and day. Instructions in the link i posted.
Web browsing and multimedia works great. I haven't ran many game on here just emulators and light weight games. So i can not vouch for gaming ability. There is a version of wine that runs on here so you can attempt windows games but i had little to no success with this.
Running windows is unfortunately crippled at bios level and unlikely to be bypassed. I did have success with linux distros but on my last attempts ( a while ago now ) much of the hardware was unsupported, no touch screen, no sound (usb soundcard worked) and worst of all no gpu acceleration.
Personally i really like this thing. Am using it now to write this response, i have the 4gb non lte version, but previousley owned the 2gb version.

Thanks so much and what is the latest stable android build for it? I believe it would be custom. Would be great to run android 8/9 :S
and one more question.
If I root it and encrypt it what about widevine and watching Netflix?

Like i said there is no custom builds apart from a modified stock build which seems to have ceased development.
Netflix works fine.when running unencrypted.

New Lenovo laptop with 10th gen I5 processor

New Lenovo laptop with 10th gen I5 processor is running stupid slow. I formatted the hdd (traditional platter, not SSD) and reinstalled win 10, ran all the updates, let it reboot a dozen times over the last week or so and its still a friggin turd. I have to be missing something as it shouldnt be so sluggish. It benchmarks at around 8900, so im really confused as to why its so slow.
Well, i got a samsung 1TB SSD off amazon for $105, well see what that does
Hello,
I am an enterprise Sr.Help Desk Tech, while working for General DynamicsDynamics another tech and I ran into a similar situation with I7 machines...
have you investigated in device manager to determine if windows is "parking" cores of your processor? Sometimes windows does this and you may only be running on 1 or 2 cores. I hope I provided valuable information. I will provide a link if I can locate one.

thanks for replying. the SSD did the trick. i analyzed the platter HDD mounted in an external enclosure on my desktop and it was 40 or so percent bad sectors. She runs like a top now
Glad to hear issue was illuminated but sad to hear oob you had a doa hard drive. The ssd vs standard plater is a night and day comparison...I thourougly enjoy my MSI GT83VR TITAN SLI. It comes with dual M.2 SSD IN RAID0 which have a read speed up to 3300MB/s that allows games to load in a flash.
Cheers
