Hello everybody,
How could I format completely the oneplus 6t? And reinstall a fresh stock rom?
Wipe data, install full ota in twrp.
Or use msm download
Have to missuse your thread for my question since it's pretty related, sorry!
Is msm also completely deleting the internal battery calibration/stats?
The battery stats are kept in a chip on the battery. Just use MSM to format the device completely or flash the OTA as bladestonez said.
You can boot into Qualcomm download mode flash a fresh stock ROM using your PC.
Would installing full ota of stock rom via TWRP also lock the bootloader?

No. Only way to do that is to to go into fastboot mode and input the command to lock the bootloader. It will, however, remove root privileges.

Battery stats are only numbers, no need to erase them. It's just a tool to evaluate the battery life based on past data. They don't drive battery usage.

Never reaching the min and max will shrink the usable battery range since the chip "forgets" the possible max and min values.
That's at least what I thought?

I believe the 6t uses a lithium ion (li-ion) battery. As far as I know, li-on batteries don't have "memory" like lipo batteries do. So charging habits shouldn't mess with it at all.

Okey! But will it be enough to start again from zero?
Or do you suggest the method with msm? (which i find it more difficult)

You will be fine msm is not required. Only difference you'll notice between the two is msm relocks the bootloader do you then have to unlock and install twrp again.

There's no need to wipe your battery stats. It's more a Myth than an improvement.
Not wipe battery stats anymore ?
i liked it not same old time there is 2 mode for backup one is tar that what i love to use always the other is dupe mode. defeult is tar so it's enough for me.

I hear this all the time, and it's just not true. I was getting horrible battery life for about 3-4 weeks. The other day I reverted back to cwm 6010 so I could wipe my battery stats....then I reflashed cwm 6019. since then, my battery life has increased from about 6 hours in standby to about 18...and I haven't installed or removed any apps, changed any settings in any apps, made any kernel changes or anything. I've literally left my phone alone completely, with the exception of voice calls and text messaging...but only communication...no settings. The only variable was the wipe battery stats option.
I don't know what it does or why it works for me, it just does. I remember the android employee's statement about how the battery stats option was useless, etc...I've seen the studies and read the discussions. I just see different evidence, pointing to a different conclusion in my own personal experience
Hi. I have the Galaxy S5. I updated it to the latest firmware which screwed my device. It is overheating for nothing. Many time I flashed back to stock roms but nothing's changed. I suspect there is still left in the device from the latest firmware "virus". I want to do full wipe. I heard wipe cache and wipe partition only delete user's data. Isn't there a way to start from FULL scratch? Thanks.

If you reflash your device and you do a full wipe from recovery, then your phones software should be like brand new. It might be a hardware issue.

No it doesn't delete everything. Because when I downgrade to KitKat from Lollipop, the power off battery animation is still from Lollipop, just for an example. That's why there is TWRP recovery (just discovered it) which allow you to delete the Data, Cache, System and Preload partitions of your internal memory. Since I am not rooted "yet", I am looking for an alternative for it. Anyone?

MAYBE it should but it doesn't in my case. I'm telling you the device has Lollipop power off battery animation while KitKat firmware is installed. There are still something left in the device. Look for the thread below:

Why should TWRP or CMW recovery separately add System and Preload partitions options if not for a reason?
I think I have to root and lose my warranty. Damn you Samsung...
Because no OEM in their right mind is going to give people a device with a recovery capable of wiping the system partition, that's completely inane.

Yeah? What makes you think it is completely insane or insecure to do this? Are you saying TWRP developers (and others who put that choice to their recoveries) are stupid? Do you think they put that option just for hobby?
Jesus Christ, I'm saying giving that option to the average customer is stupid because they would delete their system partition, brick their phones and then blame the makers of the phone. Why do you think you break your warranty when you root or install custom software like TWRP?

Here is what I do so far:
Revert back to factory settings
Delete old app infos via Google
Wipe cache and full wipe via stock recovery
Flash full ROM via Odin
Root and custom recovery to wipe system, cache, dalvik, boot, simply anything can be erased
Yet nothing helped. Using KitKat 4.4.2 now and still have Lollipop animations that indicates there are datas AFTER all of those wipes. I'm absolutely furious!!!
Will my device be okay if I flash another country's stock ROM?
I can't understand this situation really: Why even after all those wipes I still end up with the Lollipop battery animation while I'm using KitKat (even very early builds)? Let me be clear: I am no against the Lollipop battery animation but it confirms some data are erase proof. And because of it, I think there is no way to get back the phone to its very roots. Is there a logical explanation for this or shall I stop trying by calling it Android's stupidity?

Try titanium backup for your apps, the free version asks you to confirm every app reinstall, but it's free and saves your data plan
Have you cleared cache and dalvik cache? I updated yesterday and only lost 2% over night ?

I have clear caxhe on recovery and on fastboot, but the Device Idle always on second list after SoT...
Use titanium backup and backup all your apps and then do as freenicco suggests and factory reset. If after the factory reset your phone battery is good, load all your apps back on. Otherwise, try re-downloading the firmware and flashing again, maybe it got corrupted.
I solved this by reflash the recovery and fastboot, my recovery is corrupted...and reflash the Nougat update

Tried to root and failed
flashed SuperSU, stuck at Samsung logo
restored stock boot img.gz
tab works again
battery indicator stuck at 67%
first noticed the battery was at 67% (in TWRP) after leaving it overnight to see if it would boot past samsung logo
(( showing charge animation now tho... ))
while turned off and on stock charger, there's a battery icon with lightning bolt, but no percentage animation, and the screen doesn't sleep. this is when I suspected there was something wrong
at some point, I left it plugged to the PC USB for quite a while
after regaining access to my encrypted OS, the battery indicator would not budge from 67%
battery stats show a 'zero' gap between (normal lumpy discharge graph) and (solid horizontal line), followed by (45 degree decline prediction)
there's a thread somewhere out there that recommended wiping Dalvik cache to fix battery issue. In TWRP, used Wipe -> Advanced -> Dalvik + Cache.
FAIL
I wonder if the stock recovery would support mounting encrypted partitions, you know, being proprietary to Samsung and all.
Is there any way to flash just the stock recovery, or boot from one on the fly?
ALRIGHT! seems to be charging now. 67% to 69% in three minutes. have to wait and see if it will drain properly.

? because I enabled device encryption ?
I think turning it off and leaving it for a few minutes reset the battery state, so that's nice
mmm to be clear, TWRP was unable to clear the Dalvik. No success/fail message regarding the Cache partition, so maybe it didn't try after tripping over Dalvik. My suspicion was that the partition(s) were also encrypted. Reading around here a little, and it seems that TWRP doesn't support flashing encrypted devices, or at least the T280. Am I right?
trefrog said:

Right, I see. the T280 doesn't come with encryption enabled by default.
There's your issue. TWRP doesn't support SAMSUNG encryption. You've locked yourself out of the /data partition and thus cannot wipe the dalvik cache either. Flashfire can probably do it though.
/Cache isn't encrypted, so that can wipe fine.
Thanks for the good info!
Everything is "fine" now, and back the way it was. not rooted tho. except now I have twrp, so that's nice. So I will have to disable encryption in order to use this root method... or are there other pitfalls going down that road?

You don't necessarily need to remove encryption to root, but you MUST flash the patched boot image straight after.
so.. I was wrong then. The reason my root attempt didn't work was not because of encryption? I must have failed to follow directions...
Hi, guys.
I have rooted my Mi A1. But now after facing the problem with October update, I want to undo all changes made on my device and receive and install all future updates without any additional procedures - just receive OTA update click install button and that's all.
My first question is - is it possible?
The second is - can anybody explain me how can I do it?
Note: After flashing and getting root FlashFire shows me that system's active slot is slot B right now. Also after some attempts to install October OTA update (playing with slots A/B) my device shows me that I do not have any root access now. The screenshots are attached.
Thanks beforehand.

Basically, if you flash the factory image, it should be (or I believe it is) written on the both partitions, so you can start with "clean shield", but on the newest update.
You can even preserve user data within the tool

I'm not really sure if it's true or not, but I think it it. Like, if you have any problems with either partition A or B, simply flashing factory image over it should fix both, that's why I think it's true.

Referring from here, it's not true:
A/B updates require an increase of only 320 MiB in flash, with a savings of 32MiB from removing the recovery partition and another 100MiB preserved by removing the cache partition.
