Galaxy S10 plus Exynos - Battery life a joke? - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Hi!
I´ve followed some threads on Reddit on this aswell and thought I´d ask on XDA too.
My brand new, 2 day old Galaxy S10 plus is barely making 3 hours of Screen on time.
As seen on my screenshot, is it on 2 hours and my phone is at 45 %
My usage: Web browsing, emails, Spotify, snapchat
I mostly use wifi, but had 2-3 hours today on 4G but mostly my phone was in my pocket there.
What should I do about this? Im sooo afraid that its a defective unit, but it warms my heart (for better or worse) to see that many other Exynos users are complaining about poor battery life.
I already did factory reset + Clear cache partition. I only installed the necessary apps and set it to kill apps that I do not use within a day, so pretty aggresivley
I have AOD off, and every other "smart feature" for the battery ticked. Im running Medium power saving, so CPU is locked at 70%
**Edit
I read that some people see this when pulling backups. The only thing I moved from my Pixel 3 XL was/is:
Pictures, Text messages, contacts, call history
No apps.
Do you guys have any tips? I posted my screenshot of my usage on this thread. Any tips would be awesome. I love the phone, but thinking about turning it in due to this.
Samsung support wanted me to send it for repair... Which makes no sense cause they were just like "Yep send it to repair we´ll look at it you´ll have it back in 3 weeks"
Thanks!

My Exynos was also bad in the beginning. After a week it got better while learning my usage patterns. Now I get at least 36 hours on one charge with an average of 4 hours sot. It's not the best, but for how I use the phone it's acceptable. In the battery section there is a space where you can select learn usage pattern

Remove digital wellbeing.... Don't know what it does but people say battery life improved.
Put most apps to sleep and restrict background data, except Google, Gmail, Calendar, Assistant. Bixby.
That's basically what I've done.
My stats below with 4hr 23min left.

Does restrict background Activity means the option of allow back ground activity for every application or something else?

If you go to settings/apps each app can be individually placed into not using background data and background activity.
Just dont restrict apps that need to be continually using background data and activities.

[Q] LG G2 Battery Drain

Hi,
I have had my G2 for a few months now and have taken all the usual battery saving measures. On a normal work day, I can leave work with approx 60% battery left. No sync and no apps running in the background. I use task manager regularly and Clean Master to keep my battery lasting as long as possible. However, for no discernible reason, my battery has started running down at an alarming rate today. When i look at my running apps the list covers almost every app i have whereas normally it might have just a couple. I haven't downloaded any new apps or updated anyand my OS is up to date. Am i the only one experiencing this?
Thanks
Assuming you've already tried setting Location Mode to Battery Saving instead of High Accuracy, check to see what's consuming most of the battery (Settings--> Battery; tap on the battery icon).

If the problem is not to do with wakelocks, then it is probably due to a badly calibrated battery. Download two apps: advanced battery calibrator and batterycalibration. Follow the instructions of batterycalibration first. Then the next day, charge your phone to 100 percent, then follow the instructions on advanced battery calibrator.
That should fix the battery life.
However, if it is wakelocks, download wakelock detector from the play store and screenshot the cpu wakelocks page please. Then, post the results on here.
Hi, I have location turned off completely. Battery use says my screen display but that is set either to auto or 50% today, I normally have it on full and last the day easily. It's been great up until today, for some reason all the apps are running in the background within seconds of killing them all off.

Hi, I'm going to look into wake locks, not heard of them before. What would cause my battery to go from being great yesterday to badly calibrated today?
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Free mobile app
Maybe some apps you started toda are draining lots of battery since there is always google/whatsapp or facebook and many other apps keeping synchronizing in the background. I dont know or you have facebook but i had that app and that drained alot of battery on my nexus 4.
Uninstall clean master and task manager, this apps draining a lot of energy. Make a hard reset after this.

Look, i not use any task manager or clean master and i got 9 hours SOT

[Q] how to get longer battery life...

I got a second hand note 4 with Lollipop I have downgrade to kitkat and I think battery life is mutch bettar but...Without root,so just keeaping the varranty how I can extend battery life (any application do u think/suggest) will work?Or maybe do u know another firmware with kitkat that it seames the battery life is longer?
Thank's
Helen
@helen2
Try Greenify &/or Deep Sleep Battery Saver. Both are very effective especially for non-root.
With DS, in settings, stop the battery notifications and uncheck feedback.

I think is normal .Yersterday I was giving a quick look to both program they work fine but the stop to many things when the handy ist with screen off (example the 3g will be switched olso off) I think u neade to set a personal profil so u can chouse with application can run and with not (as a black and White list) ..I think the robem of battery s maybe the only real big problem of the handy
Take care
Helen
The best advice I can give with regards to getting the best battery life for your Note 4 would be to turn off all the features that you aren't always using like Wi-Fi , Bluetooth, NFC, 2/3/4G data connectivity and GPS on your Note 4. and turn them on when you are going to use them. That way your battery will last your allot longer.
I suggest use hibernation manager and e root booster, they help to save battery life.
Uninstall Facebook and Twitter ?

Just my two cents worth but I was getting terrible battery life out of my 910F. Mine is not rooted but I disabled a lot of services, put it in battery saving mode, automatic birghtness etc; in short all of the standard things you can do that are built into the device. I didn't get any improvement. I even turned off wifi etc., whereas normally i have everything on, including bluetooth, maximum brightness (when screen is on), data, sync, all of them 24 hrs a day. Then I flashed N910FXXU1BOE2 (the french rom) and although the rom is not the fastest I've tried (of standard sammy roms) it works fine and gives me fantastic battery life. At night very little drain, and as I said, everything stays on with me. I usually get two days of moderate use. You could try it.

decrease usage for Google play services

Hello everyone.
I have a irritating problem with battery drain. Google play services use a more than 50% of battery usage, I have to charge few 2 times a day while I'm using phone normally (sometimes browsing Internet, sometimes browsing Facebook, no using GPS) and the battery lasts maximum 6 hours from 100% to 10%.
I don't know how to decrease this usage to minimum. Uninstalling Google play services makes it better, but android without it is useless.

How it can be 50% for you? All the apps together is only 3% for me (hard gaming, mobile legends bb, minecraft, gta sa, real racing etc)

Disable location services or set it i.eLocation services to device only mode.....Thumbs up if it worked
Check that you don't have emojis on your whatsapp name. For me, it was causing some background sync errors and caused huge battery drain

I will check with my friend next time...that's extremely odd but intriguing bug!
My friend is on holiday with the phone for a week, I might have to resort to a factory reset. To be fair, it hasn't had a wipe since upgrading from Lollipop to MM so it is overdue one.
I just flashed to the newest rom and now it's OK.
I don't know what caused this usage but it was annoying. After flash and clear all storages everything is good now.

2 day old v20, battery lasting < 6 hours

I though! maybe it was the dirty Santa so I went back to a stock kdz last night but battery usage still just as bad.
Does it take some time to settle with this phone or is something wrong?
Here is a screenshot of battery stats. I've only been up a few hours at most.

Most likley you just need a new battery. When a battery goes, its quick. That's the one of the beauties of this phone... Removable battery.
Maybe the battery went bad from sitting unused for 3 years.
It was completely dead when I first opened it which was weird for me also.
The drain did slow down some but it's still only at 40%
My stylo 3 is typically above 85% this time of day.
I will swap the batteries and see how it goes. Thanks for replying.

Could also be a system app getting stuck. I used to get them randomly on stock ROM like once or sometimes twice a week. You could install GSam battery app or accubattery app and see if you can see anything misbehaving. I use BBS (BetterBatteryStats) but it's a paid app I believe.
I would try that before spending money on a battery just to see because a reboot doesn't always fix the issue. In one of my cases my Gmail app got stuck constantly syncing and even after reboot it would just start right back and get stuck again and I have Auto sync turned off

Before going in for new battery, try these,
1. Using LG UP, re-flash latest KDZ using partition download option. Phone gets formatted to new. Make sure battery is at 10%-20% and not above that. This will help re-calibrating of battery, while charging to 100% by system.
2. After installing all apps as per standard setup process, restart the phone.
3. Now the crucial part, disable the following system apps by going in to apps in settings,
-Android Services Library
-Android Shared Library
-App Shortcuts
-Bookmark Provider
-com.facebook.appmanager
-com.facebook.system
-intent filter verification service
-Promo Helper
-Print Service Recommendation service
-market feedback agent
-inapps
After doing above, i could get smooth running of phone and better battery.
Check this , if it works for you,...fine...
holy crap! everything run allot smoother after disabling those services! will there be any down side to it?

How did you come upon this particular list ? other than facebook the thing is disabling others can have side effects that will be difficult to figure out later
So the question is what breaks as a result of disabling these services ?
I have all of the above enabled with the exception of facebook which i do not use and face no problems at all.

Give it a few more cycles

Battery draining apps?

Hi all,
Like all of you i am conscious of my battery on the S10+.
Considering it is a 4,100mah battery you would think it would last a minimum a day and a half however with me i only get a days use out of the phone (by merely doing some browsing, youtube and whatsapping, nothing intensive). I've noticed that even if i use the phone considerable less in one day vs a heavy intensive day, i still get the same usage - around 24 hours.
I have turned off AOD, Location, have Sync on, FHD display.
In theory if im not using my phone, my phones battery should be depleting very slowly however this does not seem to be the case.
So to me it looks like something is draining my phone (i've had the S7, S9, with the same problem). I've reset my phone, not restored a back up and still the problem persists.
Looking at my battery usage recently i have seen Google maps being the highest used app (however i have location off and don't use the app and even have forced closed it).
Has anyone else noticed this? anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks for this - I have been following this thread quite closely but the reason why i made this separate thread is because i believe after all my personal testing it seems to be app related - Im thinking specific to google apps with all their background services.
Just thought if anyone had isolated this like me and if they had any fixes for this.

Wow that is actually amazing results - which google apps have you disabled and how (i.e. just uninstalled them?).
Also the only google app i only would like to keep is google maps - as i use this when driving here and there.
Last question - you basically have 10hours SoT over 2 days. If you used your phone less, do you believe your phone battery life would extend to 3/4 days even?
