Smart lock (Bluetooth device) - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

Since the phone is on Android 10, the smart lock feature doesn't work any more. I use my phone in my car and connect it to the Bluetooth radio there. In "settings - security - smart lock", this connection is set to unlock the phone. Fact is: it does not.
I've deleted the Bluetooth connection and paired it again. In the past, after pairing a new Bluetooth device, android kept asking me "You want to unlock the phone when it is connected to this device?", but the question doesn't come up any more.
Any one else out here with smart lock problems?

It is working fine on mine with my car and headphones. I am running the second Sept 10 update.

I noticed my unit locks up also

Thanks for your answers.
I've removed again the Bluetooth connections, then I reconnected the Bluetooth car kit. Smart lock asked me, if it should unlock the phone every time the device is connected, and I confirmed that. The device now is listed there in the trusted device section. It still doesn't work.
I guess I'll have to do a factory reset.

I've reset my phone twice and smart Lock still rarely works. This is extremely aggravating.

Fingerprint issue when connected to BT

Hi,
Strange thing happened to me for two day now:
The fingerprint unlock works perfectly. But: when I get in my car and the phone connects to BT I cannot unlock with my fingerprint anymore, only the backup password will work.
As soon as I turn of my car and thus the BT connection the fingerprint works again.
Anyone else has had this issue? (or better, a solution)
Cheers, Leon
When connected to a trusted source such as your Bluetooth you can just swipe your screen to unlock. At least thats how my phone is set up.

I did set it as trusted device. Unfortunately that worked until I disconnected and reconnected again... That's when I had to use the fingerprint again.

I don't have my connected to my car. But my s6+ is connected to my gear s, lg hsb750 Bluetooth headset , and my jbl flip 2 Bluetooth speaker and all works well with fingerprint unlock. I don't however have any of them set to my trusted devices. Fingerprint unlock is so convenient and good don't feel the need for it.
Yesterday evening I deleted the connections and build them up again and this morning it worked like a charm.
Strange, but it worked

My smart lock worked for a day in the car. Next day, doesn't stay unlocked. Same at home. Bit crap really. But then its always been dodgy when I had a note 4 running cyanogen.

Bluetooth fails to connect with Parrot Mki 9200

Hi all,
On the Parrot carkit in my car I get poor connection with my Moto X force (Droid Turbo 2). When the bluetooth is connected, the telephone connection fails to come up. A2DP is live, though. The HCI dump shows errors in the beginning, but my knowledge of the protocol is not good enough to understand the cause. I managed to get it working once when I cleared the Bluetooth connection app cache and data. Others on the internet suggested doing a factory reset, but this provided no solution to the problem. The phone is running 6.0 with the latest updates. Can someone help? The log is included in the attachment.
OK, A day of frustration, various tests and reading of logs I think I've finally cracked it. The bluetooth headset profile or handsfree profile fails to reconnect after one connection. For this one of two alternatives are an option. Clearing the data/cache of the Bluetooth Share app or going to airplane mode. Unfortunately both are not modifiable via Tasker without root. It irritates me, but at least the phone is now usable, be it with a filthy hack. This seems to be a problem with more than one Moto device, as it is also mentioned extensively on the lenovo/moto forum.

Found a work around on the forum. This seems to solve the problem.

Looking for an Android app perfect for this use case

Hi there,
I have a use case which I haven't found a perfect Android App or solution that can handle it perfectly. I'm currently looking at possibly using Tasker, but since it doesn't offer trial/lite version so I can't tell for sure if it would work or not.
Here is my use case and some of its characteristics (and limitations):
1. Normally when I'm at home, I want my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 3, running Android 5.0 Lollipop) to automatically:
Turn ON Wi-Fi
Turn OFF GPS (location) - to save battery
Turn OFF Bluetooth - to save batter
2. When I'm driving, I hope my Android phone can automatically detect that I'm driving (moving over 10 MPG+), and will automatically:
Turn OFF Wi-Fi (so that it won't keep searching for Wi-Fi signal)
Turn ON GPS (location) so that I can use Google Map or Waze
Turn ON Bluetooth so that it would automatically connect to my car stereo
3. When I'm at work (M-F) or "indoor", I want my phone to automatically:
Turn ON Wi-Fi
Turn OFF GPS (location)
Turn OFF Bluetooth
I have tried several Android apps, but none of them can do this perfectly. "Geo-location" or "time-based" triggers would not work well (based on my current testing). I also tried to use NFC Tools, but unfortunately since I have a thick case for my Note3, so the NFC tags did not work. Any suggestion would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi,
Tasker should do this job pretty well.
Where I would not afraid of battery drain when GPS is on. When no app uses GPS, it is switched off.
My wifi, bt and GPS is switched on all-time and with my new battery I have perfect battery life...
Cheers big

bluetooth issues after oreo update

Hi,
After updating to oreo (clean flash) i have issues connecting to my car bluetooth (vw tiguan). it keeps disconnecting every 5 sec. randomly (very rare) it works without pb.
i tried changing bluetooth codec (sbc, aptx, aptxhd), or avrcp version (1.4, 1.5, 1.6) the pb still remains
any help? suggestion? or a way to post logs?
With Nougat it never happened
Thanks
Similar issue here. I have a fully clean flash of OOS5.0 (because I douched my storage the first time) and bluetooth seems fine sometimes, and other times it's totally borked. I listened to 2 hours of podcasts without issue, then it just constantly disconnected/reconnected. I tried rebooting, unpairing, changing codecs...same issue. Next day, it's totally fine again.
My seat Leon my 16 discover pro does mostly not connected automatically on Oreo.
Tried cleanflash of oreo, no change.
Back to 7.1.1 everything fine.
My case is similar but slightly different. My car is an old one (Seat leon from 2005) which Bluetooth connection is used only for phone calls. This seems to be working fine.
However I'm using an add-on to connect multimedia through Bluetooth to the radio, and this add-on is not working fine with my Oreo OP5.
So I guess the problem for the other reported issues should be related to the multimedia connection instead of the phone one.
Absolutely
Phone calls are working fine
On my VW Golf VII not connected automatically on Oreo. Works fine before. Clean Install... donĀ“t help.
I must switch BT off and on and then connect to my car.
Oneplus 5 is my first Oneplus. And from beginn problems with BT. After some updates works fine. Now the same after Oreo.
Same here with parrot handsfree. Nougat was OK....
Same here with 2017 Audi A4. Bluetooth do not connect automatically.
Works fine with nougat before.
I use the app 'Bluetooth auto connect' to force OP5 to connect to Audi, when I turn on the screen. (little work around).
The OP3T from my wife (also with oreo) connect fine to my audi.

I have switched off 'media audio' in Bluetooth Settings of OP5 and Bluetooth connect without any problem with my Audi. (tested it two times)
Will continue testing.....

Switch of Car for <10 minutes and try and also only off for 10 seconds
I also thought this helps, next day not working....
For the last few days it has been working fine in my car (2016 BMW 340i), but in my wife's car (2015 BMW 328i) with the same media interface, it actually CRASHES the entire car's system and iDrive does a full reboot. Never seen that before with any device.
Anyone tried open beta 3 ?
My OP5 connects to the Anker SoundSync handsfree, calls and media are OK just as before, the only thing that have gone with the stable official Oreo update are the bluetooth control buttons.
Any idea would be appreciated

Dasaita 4gb 32gb android 8.0 question

I got this wonderful new unit and it works really well except a few things, mainly the Bluetooth sucks. I'm trying to get info from the maker of I can use bt for other things than the phone but I probably won't get the answer I want. There's a bt setting but no on or off switch and scanning doesn't do anything for me, it's completely frozen. Anyone know if there is a USB Bluetooth I can just plug in to work?
