Anyone know anything about this?
Clearly some idiots will soon put together a kickstarter/indiwatever claiming they completely designed clearly Chinese OEM kit with no modifications whatever other some software doodads (LOL) and plastic additions and some will pay these idiots through the nose while others will just buy from the oem via shops like Chinavasion for a reasonable amount.
LOL.
Anyhow would be cool to findout which OEM designed z2 and whether any chinavasion like shops are selling it?
go to google and type "z2 android wrist watch" - looks interesting - even if it's only a render.
Also ignore the uplaytablet wannabes pretending like they invented it - they're distributors.
Found a link to it.

Clearly some proper price gouging going on for this z1 though... $400 USD??? Must be having a laugh
Will wait until it comes to sites of Chinavasion's ilk for maybe $260 USD then I'll bite.
Thanks for the info dedesuper!
That second video I posted demonstrates why I think the z2 is so much better than all the smart watches at the moment and represents a better value proposition. IMHO. Though this could easily change once reviews hit, also as I see other manufactures jumping on the bandwagon..!
The USB charging on the wristband is just like the z1 - perfect!

Thanks for that info about your AI watch. But I'm already sold on the z2 I'm afraid!
I always liked the Z1 form factor just thought it was a laggy mess but the dualcore mtk6577 in the Z2 should sort it right out - just need a review now - especially about battery life of the Z2

You are welcome,
Actually the Z2 with the MT6577 is based on our old PCB so its not resolve all the lags but definitely move much better than the old Z1 the only thing that you may not like is the Screen....

Hi Damien,
I have bought myself one of your Z2 watches to develop a navigation app for flying light aircraft. My first impressions are good but I have a couple of questions...
Google Play:
My Z2 came with a simplified launcher that did not include Google Play. I downloaded and installed (various versions of) the Google Play apk and when I run it, it flashes up for a second then closes. I installed Nova Launcher from it's apk and that gives the same result. I've tried the usual stuff such as emptying the cache etc. but nothing works. Do you have any suggestions? It's not a stopper but it is inconvenient not being able to install apps through the proper channel.
GPS:
A few days ago, I got my app installed and was flying in an open cockpit gyrocopter and got a GPS location fix ok. Yesterday I was wearing my watch around town and in the car and it did not get any GPS data at all. I'd appreciate any comments you have on GPS with the Z2.
Screen:
You mentioned that the screen might not be good enough. I see what you mean. The contrast is poor and colors are dull. Not as good as a phone but you can read small text on it and it is surprisingly possible to type emails etc.
Battery life:
The first day I wore it I was waiting for my turn to fly and messing with the watch. By the time I got my flight the battery was flat. It was 11:30am. 2 hours or so. I had been on the internet with it and the battery was pretty hot. Yesterday I wore it all day and the battery lasted ok so it should be ok...
Thanks in advance for any info you can provide,
David
@SuperDave156;
I have one of these watches as well and am happy with it BUT like you said the battery gets quite warm (43C when i am using 3G) and does not last long.
I have installed Google play manually and ADW launcher seems to work ok on the watch Also you may want to install Pie control (very usefull).
-
Here is the Google play i used if you want it BUT you need to root the watch with Framaroot and use Boromir exploit.

>>>>W A R N I N G<<<<
If you are not familiar with rooting and setting permissions PLEASE IGNORE THE FOLLOWING LINKS - PLEASE!!
you could boot loop your device.
-
Framaroot here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/framaroot/root-framaroot-one-click-apk-to-root-t2130276
Also installing system toolbox pro i was able to chabge the CPU governor to Ondemand rather than the default Hybrid so battery lasts a little longer.

Thank you for your detailed explanation of how to get Google Play to work on my Z2 watch. Your instructions worked perfectly and have transformed my watch from an ok novelty to a fully functional Android device. I am using Nova Launcher which I had previously installed and is similar in layout to AWD which I also tried. I now have my home screen set up how I like it with the HTC sense clock/date/weather rather than that uninspiring clock that comes pre loaded.
This thread will be a valuable resource for anyone else struggling to setup their Z2.
Thanks again,
Dave
anyone knows how to update the firmware?
I read in another thread about u8, but of course I do not have u8pro
GPS fix
Here's a thing... The main reason for buying an android watch for me was to use the GPS for navigation. Unfortunately it has only got a fix on one occasion and that was while I was flying in an open cockpit gyrocopter. I have worn it while walking around and while driving but it never gets a fix. I don't think it is due to the rooting because I had this problem before I rooted it.
Any one have any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Dave
Hello, I am looking to buy my first smartwatch. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd really like features such as a camera and handsfree. But the only one I found so far with both of those are the Galaxy Gear 2. It looks like a good watch, but I'd rather have a watch that runs Android Wear.
Thanks in advance.

You can either chose between the G Watch or the Gear live. Both very similar, mostly design differences.
G Watch has bigger battery.
Gear Live has heartbeat sensor and amoled display.
That's the difference, everything else apart from the design is the same. So if you want an android wear watch there's not much to chose from.

If I were you, I'd rather wait for the Moto 360. Though it doesn't have a camera, it still would pack in some of the best features otherwise. If you are in ahurry to lay your hands on a watch, you could go for the Gear 2, its a great watch too.
Here at XDA, we typically do not allow threads like these to remain open as these type questions truly can only be answered by the individual and based on their own research and reading of the information here on the threads. "Best" device or "best" anything is really in the eye of the beholder.
Loved watches all my life, and want a smartwatch so I can flip through all the different faces. That's all I'm interested in...for now. So, some questions that'll seem dumb to most of you:
1. I want faces like Rolex, Breitling, Omega, etc., so that means a round smartwatch.
2. My phone is an LG V10 running Android 6.0 and stock Verizon ROM.
3. What's the difference between cheap Bluetooth watches in the $50 range on eBay, and a smartwatch? (Or are they the same thing?)
4. Programs in the Google Play store like Watch Faces for Android and Watchmaker seem pretty attractive to me in that they simplify things for guys like me. (I've found a lot of the luxury watch faces I want already in the WF for Android catalog, and installed them on the widget on my phone).
I'm on the fence as to whether I get a black watch or stainless, (so, knowing me, I'll prolly get two!) And remember, I'm buying for the sole, express purpose of having numerous choices in watch faces. All the other gadgetry in a smartwatch is, to me, meh. Maybe I'll use it, maybe I'll grow into it, I really don't know.
Help me find a watch that suits me, please?
Thanks, folks!
Donny
Ok, let me put it another way. Which chipset or operating system, (besides Android Wear, which is too expensive), is easiest to add custom watch faces?

By considering only ease of installation and the availability of custom watchfaces, the best choice is on the following "full Android" round smartwatches:
- No.1 D5 or his twin Finow X1
- K9 or Finow X3
- Finow X5
They all share the same watchface engine, easy to use and with an already big number of custom watchfaces available.
You can get an idea by looking at this thread:

Or even better, following this G+ community:

if you can buy the D5 the x5 the k9 the i2 the z9 the s99 i would if i could i love watches as you if not more

This helps immensely, Cyrux. Thanks! Now, when you say they're full Android, you don't mean Android Wear, right? And can you just roughly describe the process, please? Is it like other devices, (phones, tablets, etc), where it's as simple connecting to a PC and drag/dropping files?
Once I've chosen a watch and have it home, I'll obviously do my due diligence and read, read, read! I promise.
And thanks again.

These smartwatches are like wrist smartphone, with an user interface optimized for their mini display and you can do almost everything you can do with an Android smartphone.
Found another Android 5.1 watch, with REPLACEABLE BAND.
http://m.geekbuying.com/item/i96-Android-5-1-Bluetooth-WiFi-Smart-Watch-512MB-RAM-4GB-ROM--Heart-Rate-Monitor--Pedometer--Call-Answer--Gesture-Voice-Control--IP65-for-Android-iOS--Metal-Strap----Silver-368139.html
By the looks of it, this watch is very similar to the IMAIS watch (that huawei watch clone on another thread).
Anyone got a hands-on or review of this watch? This seems to be like a home run for me. Been looking for full Android watch with replaceable band.

Personally though after owning the Mlais watch and looking at the pictures of the i96 i think the Mlais watch build quality would be better also had a bigger battery but the os on the Mlias is crap/useless atm.

I don't think anyone has it, i have already mention this watch in the Mlias watch (that huawei watch clone on another thread), its looks alright i like that it has a 400 x 400 amoled screen but someone did say the x-burst cpu was outdated.
Personally though after owning the Mlais watch and looking at the pic's of the i96 i think the build quality on the Mlias would be better and has bigger battery but currently the os on Mlais is crap/useless atm. i would avoid buying a Mlais watch unless you plan on loading another os on it.
Xburst CPU? What the hell is that? So does that mean someone suggesting that this watch will be sluggish despite having the same MTK6580 core?
I think if programmed correct the xburst could have always on as one core is 1200mhz and the second core is about 300mhz.

Hi all!
Newbie here.... I own a very simple watch, the Umidigi Uwatch2.
It's a very basic watch and I am pretty satisfied with it, except that I cannot change the faces as I want.
Only a few faces are available and I don't like them very much.
I don't need to make phone calls, browse internet, don't need waterproof, fitness or any fancy feature.
I just love the idea of having a electronic watch that I can change the face as I want.
Is there any cheap watch with a nice full round screen on which I can download and install premium round analog faces?
Thank you very much for your suggestions
