How Do I Update? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Been a few years since I used my 6P. Running a custom ROM - PureNexus - on 7.1.2. How do I update to 8 and then 9? Thanks for the help. I'm rooted.

Don't think that this topic even belongs on this thread. As far as updating goes there are plenty of tutorials waiting for you to look for them!

I replied to one of your other posts somewhere else. Please only post a question one time in the future.

Install Android 8.1.0 factory image. From there install the latest twrp img (accordingly to the pie rom that you are trying to use).

Sorry for another dumb question, but which version of 8.1.0 do I use? Looks like there are many versions. Thanks.

This is why you shouldn't post multiple threads about the same thing. I linked to and described the exact factory images for 8.1.0 that you need in another of your threads.

Bro, I must be dumb and blind. I can't find that post you're talking about or I wouldn't have asked the question.

Again, this is why it's not advisable to post the same question in multiple locations.

Cyanogen's thread... it gets updated to the most recent RC, he probably hasn't had time to update it just yet.
Also, if that thread didn't exist you would have wanted to post yours in the general section, not development.
Personally, I understand you are just trying to contribute and I'm not trying to come down on you at all. Thanks for the info but just to avoid getting flamed it's a good idea to check into things before posting a new thread.

New factory image posted: 5.1.1 LMY48I

As the title says, Google has just posted new factory images for our nexus 9.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
The changelog is huge. Most fixes are in ART and frameworks but there are still some nexus 9 specific changes.
Have fun flashing
And don't forget to tell us if you notice any changes

Add this too: (since we never got that build, so changes would be cumulative)

Did you even read the linked articles? At the bottom it had the link to the actual change log:
http://www.androidpolice.com/androi....1_r4-to-android-5.1.1_r5-AOSP-changelog.html
So far so good. Haven't really noticed any changes but it's running pretty snappy, then again... It usually does for awhile after a clean slate.

Huh the N9 never got the r5 changes??
Most if not all are under the hood bug fixes by all accounts. All works fine, dare I say it, but battery life seems a little better as well. The changelog is posted in a reply post if you really need to read everything Google have done.
Is there a new kernel in this build or is it the same as LMY48B? If there is a new kernel has anyone released a stock version without encryption enabled? I tried searching the forums but I couldn't find anything. TIA.

There is a new kernel, but the previous one (LMY47X) still works. Not sure of the differences, but here's an unencrypted one that I made. Using it on my N9 now.

Let me know if you have any problem with it. If so, I want to remove it.
The LMY47X version was 5.1.1_r2, and the LMY48I version is 5.1.1_r9.
I only have found this Changelogs, into android Police:
android-5.1.1_r2 to android-5.1.1_r3
android-5.1.1_r4 to android-5.1.1_r5
android-5.1.1_r6 to android-5.1.1_r9

For those who want to Root

Hey guys...i have the same device (Pra-la1).
If you want to root just follow the same instructions that are on Huawei p8 lite 2017 section.
And the recovery for p8 lite 2017 (pra-lx1) is the same with honor 8 lite (pra-la1) and I've been using it since day one that I bought that phone.
And i think both phones are the same except the model name...
I tried to flash the ROM from pra-lx1 and actually they are both the same.
Sent from my PRA-LA1 using Tapatalk
Wow , great Info
Yea since they are both "PRA" so just the same.

Yes, the latest version of TWRP is running just fine, but whenever i try to flash SuperSu (Using TWRP) i get stuck at eRecovery, flashing unSU.zip doesn't fix the problem, the only way to fix it is to remove supersu file from /data
