I had that problem before and I downgraded with MSM tool to an earlier stock ROM then it allowed me to use the switch. Do you have a T-Mobile phone or an international cuz it happened to me on a t-mobile version.

T-Mobile

This means you have a T-Mobile version of the phone.
You can only unlock the bootloader on T-Mobile if
a) You have completely paid off the phone on T-Mobile's network (if you used financing) and have used it on the network for 40 days.
XDA has made an article to root on T-Mobile's network.
OR
b) You are on Android 9.0.11 or lower.
Follow this method to convert to an international ROM of OxygenOS, then root the phone like a normal OnePlus 6t
NOTE: BOTH METHODS WILL COMPLETELY WIPE YOUR PHONE!
Make a BACKUP with OnePlus Switch and save it to your computer before doing this if you don't want to loose data.

Actually, there is a guide in this forum to sim unlock, and unlock the bootloader without waiting for TMobile to unlock the sim, and you don't even have to get the unlock code for the bootloader.

[Q] Need Confirmation Please

Around last week when I first got my carrier locked Xperia PLAY, I purchased a network unlock code which I was able to unlock it with. So, then I flashed it with the UK Generic .184 FTF file with FlashTool to get rid of all the junk that my carrier included with it and rooted it using the GingerBreak APK.
Now, my question is, since I've network unlocked my PLAY, completely debranded it and rooted it, would I be able to unlock my bootloader now? From what I've read, since my device was originally locked from my carrier, that it never had Fastboot installed on it, which is needed to unlock my bootloader. But I also read that being able to unlock the bootloader on my Xperia PLAY shouldn't even matter because it's already set to S=OFF. Could someone please enlighten me on this?
You can't unlock your bootloader with the current method, it depends on two things: can your phone connect with fastboot when in bootloader mode AND is your IMEI number registered with SE to get the required unlockcode.
No you can only unlock GSM phones ie sim fee none network locked ones, unlocking the sim carrier wont count sadly

Yes, I went to their How-To page on the SE Developer's site and was able to get an unlock code by providing my IMEI and other info. When I try to detect it with Fastboot and my PLAY in bootloader mode, Fastboot just hangs at <waiting for device>.

Cool, thanks for confirming that!
But does it even matter if I'm able to unlock my bootloader? Because I've read somewhere that the PLAY's are set to S=OFF.
From my understanding an unlocked bootloader is necessary for costum roms, if you're content with root and themes unlocking the bootloader won't be that important to you I guess.
I'm pretty content with being able to install custom themes with it only rooted. But I want to be able to overclock it, and that involves flashing a custom kernel to be able to do so, correct?

afraid so (as it stands atm) there probably will be a way to flash without an unlock at some point though.

How do I know if Unlocked?

I'm a little confused on unlocking a carrier phone. My G2 is fully rooted,I;m running Cyanogen on it. But I'm not sure if I ever did the S-off stuff. Does that have anything to do with unlocked phones? Does having a rooted phone mean that its already unlocked? Or does unlocking a phone require more then just rooting.
And I would just check with someone else's sim card but I don't have any readily available.
Thanks!
Unlocking is different from rooting. Unlocking is hardware based that allows the use of other carriers with that phone. Unlocking is used with GSM phones. Rooting is software based that gives the user root access to the android os. Generally these two aren't linked, though for the G2 there is a tool AMT(correct me if I'm wrong) that performs rooting, s-off, an unlocking all in one. When you use tools to unlock a phone, not all radios are supported, and there is no guarantee that the tool will work. It's always easier to get an unlock code from the phone's carrier.
To check if a phone is unlocked, get a SIM card that is not normally used with the phone. (if the phone is att put a t-mo SIM card in it) if the phone is unlocked, you will gain service and will be able to place calls.
Hope this helped!
Actually, the OP said he doesn't have access to another SIM. Just go here to verify if you have unlocked and set SuperCID or not:

Sorry, I read that and knew he didn't have another SIM card. That part I said about using another SIM was only for the explanation.
If you correctly used gfree to root, then you should be S-Off, SuperCID-ed, and unlocked all in one step.

Yup, if you did gfree, you are SIM-unlocked.
The thing is I don't think I used Gfree. I did it with terminal and adb push.
Assuming its not unlocked what steps should I take to unlock it? Should I reroot with gfree?

I think you used Gfree, as it uses the terminal and ADB push.
You must have used some exploit made by somebody else, such as gfree. You can't just get root and S-Off with ADB, unless you are some master hacker (in which case, you would not be asking these questions).
Yes, i did use another program, definitely not a master hacker. This was very early on, and I don't remember exactly what I did but it was more involved than gfree.
Anyways, I just checked using gfree verify and my phone is not unlocked, just rooted. So now the question is what to do next? I'm going to read over the wiki, but basically im just not sure how to just unlock the phone without the entire root process. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it possible to SIM Unlock a phone that has an unlocked bootloader and custom rec?

Hello all,
just like the title says,
I have an LG V20 with an unlocked bootloader, and unlocked recovery with TWRP and it is Rooted.
With this in mind, is it possible to SIM Unlock the device?
Or would I have to remove root, or lock the bootloader?
EDIT: Let me verify, I have a T-Mobile variant, but I would assume this is a general question, that's why I posted here.
Is there an alternative way to SIM Unlock other than using the Unlock app? Right now, the app is just hanging and spinning forever, so that's why I was curious.
Another inquiry,
Am I able to go back to my LG V20 T-Mobile variant stock firmware? Then I can use recowvery to go back to where I am now.
Thanks!
A quick update:
I found this article:
http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...ng-bootloader-affect-network-lock/23311#23311
Is this still relevant?
If the reason that the T-Mobile app is failing on my device could just be a T-Mobile issue then? It's unlocked on their end, it's just that my phone is hanging at the "Connecting to servers" area of the T-Mobile SIM Unlock app. The main screen.
if your phone is on an EIP installment plan and it's not paid off, every attempt at an unlock will fail. this is from my experience. pay off the phone, and the unlock will work.

It is completely paid off and not through an EIP plan. The engineers there have told me that my device is showing "Unlocked" on their end. But on my phone, because I have the bootloader unlocked, custom recovery, and root. I'm assuming that's the reason my T-Mobile Unlocker app is not working.
So I just need to go back to stock for 5 seconds to get the app to work, and then I will be home free, and can run the TWRP I have of this moment to come back to this point in time on my device.
I think your answer is correct. relock, go stock, factory reset, unlock, than restart BL unlock, root process again.

After I relock, how do I go to stock?
I still have a custom recovery (TWRP) on my device.
And when you re-lock your bootloader, doesn't it format your device? And because I have a custom recovery, wouldn't it brick my device after I lock it and it tries to wipe the device?
Look in the guides section for the v20. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3504798

are you sure it is not unlocked. I went through this with my phone it is unlocked as I am using an att sum, but the app will still say that .

Unlocking the Bootloader on a Google Pixel 2

WARNING: This should not be done lightly. This could brick your phone if not done properly. I take no responsibility for anyone's actions or phones. I'm just relaying my findings and the process I used to unlock my Google Store bought Pixel 2. This process will not work with a Verizon bought Pixel 2. (see note at end)
WARNING: This process will erase all content on your Pixel 2. Essentially do a factory reset.
1. Backup your Pixel 2 first. Before doing anything just make sure you have up to date backup for your device data as well your files such as images, pictures, videos or documents.
2. Have already installed ADB and Fastboot Setup on your PC.
3. Make sure your device is charged.
4. Enabled USB debug and OEM Unlock option from the device settings under the "Developer Mode" menu.
You will have to enable Developer Mode. Do this by tapping the Build Number under "System", "About Phone" 7 times.
You can now unlock you Google Pixel 2 Bootloader.
1. Connect your Pixel 2 phone to your PC and wait for drivers to be installed.
2. Now go to ADB and Fastboot Folder then do Shift + Right Click to select Open Command Prompt Here.
3. Boot your Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL to bootloader mode using this: adb reboot bootloader
4. Now to unlock your phone enter this command in terminal: fastboot flashing unlock
5. On your phone allow the device to be unlocked by selecting Yes using power keys and power button to confirm.
6. Your phone will not reboot with a warning that your bootloader is unlocked and can't be verified (this is normal). Your device with erase all content and reboot a second time.
7. Your phone will now be at the same state it was as a new phone to set up.
I have not seen of a method to root the Pixel 2 yet. If the procedure is similar to the Pixel this should put you into a position to root your phone without having to erase all your data to unlock your bootloader first.
NOTE ON VERIZON BOUGHT PIXELS:
I don't know if this process will work with the Pixel 2 or not. This is how I unlocked the bootloader on my Verizon bought Pixel. I bought mine very early on. It was right after they patched the work around we had to unlock the Verizon bootloaders. I did not let Verizon turn on the phone when I purchased it. I removed the micro-sim when I got it home before turning the phone on. I then went through the above process to unlock my bootloader. With the Pixel the blocking of the "OEM Unlock" seemed to happen after it connected to the Verizon network. With the Pixel 2 it won't let you "OEM Unlock" the phone unless you are connected to to the internet at a minimum. So this may not work for the Pixel 2.
Anyone who doesn't know this already should never unlock their bootloader.
Agreed. I just posted this for those wondering if there were differences in the process between the Pixel and Pixel 2. At least Google kept it the same. Now we just need a TWRP for the Pixel 2 to finish the root.

Unlocking will break safetynet right?
Can I expect that to be resolved after someone develops a method to root?

That is correct. For the Pixel they had a kernel that would disable the safetynet check and return a pass whenever an app would check. We'll have to wait and see what happens for the Pixel 2.

I think at this point the best thing to do is flip the switch to allow bl unlock and leave it at that. I mean if you are going to root in the future. Until they release sources unlocking will break AP and security check apps. If you don't care about that then unlock the bl now since it will wipe the device in the process. That's the beauty of having a Verizon model. You can't do that so the pressure is off.
Has anyone tried this on a Verizon bought Pixel 2?
I would be interested to see if you put a non verizon sim in first, whether it would lock the oem unlock option

Bought from Google Store fearing anything from Verizon or Best Buy would be compromised. Had a VZW nano SIM from my Moto XPE, which I popped in, yes.
No there are actually two different models sold at the google store. one has a verizon sim and one doesn't.

I bought the Google (non-Verizon) version from the Google store. I didn't want to take any chances even though Google says all phones purchased from them can have their bootloader unlocked. That was the way it was with the Pixel. I just popped my nano-sim from my old Pixel in my new Google version Pixel 2 and everything worked fine.

Enable OEM Unlocking/Debloat Script for Tmobile/Sprint

all you have to do is extract the zip file, make sure your phone has adb debugging enabled, plug it into the computer, and run the script and it will debloat your phone and enable you to slide the oem unlocking toggle in developer options that was previously greyed out
********WARNING*********
this script will remove the keyboard app from your phone leaving you without a way to type, i dont know which exact package it is but you can always look them up and just remove that line from the script. otherwise make sure you have a usb-otg cable and keyboard to use or a program like Vysor/scrcpy or you wont be able to type. just reinstall gboard or whatever other keyboard you use and it will be fine

Just getting the unlock token from Oneplus. Successfully flash and unlocked bootloader. Is it have any way to unlock network?
Update:

Hey does this mean what I think it means. Can you unlock a bootloader and convert to global if your phone is network locked? Can someone explain how I can unlock bootloader after enabling oem unlocking?
Yes, can covert to Global but sim remain locked.

Anyone know what actually locks the sim slot? And how can it persist even on Global rom? On Tmo devices there is a "Device Unlock" app that gets deleted after you sim unlock the phone by carrier.
But global rom doesn't have the proprietary unlock app, so what is actually keeping it locked? Does the modem have the locking instructions in it?
Yes, something like that which is impossible to remove.

The previous OP devices it was possible after flashing Int. rom.
Question is where/how did they place the restrictions now. It had something to do with the modem after the t-mo app unlocks the phone.
But I don't think backing up and restoring a modem from an unlocked OP8 and flash it to locked OP8 will work as intended anymore.
I guess no one cared enough to reverse engineer this again
