Install Firefox, set it as default, use the origin AdBlock plugin. Works awesome.

Will stop all ads for sure and dont have to be rooted.

Root: AdAway or Magisk module called Energized.
Non-root: Adguard, Blokada.
Non-root ad blockers use a local VPN as proxy where all the filtering happens, so if you already use a VPN, you can't use both. It's possible to proxy chain, but I never got to it, so I don't know if it works properly.
Custom DNS is the easiest way to have ads blocked without root, however if your telco provider offers deals like free Spotify streaming or any other free streaming, which doesn't affect your mobile data cap, then you can't change the mobile data DNS to AdGuard's, because it will bypass your provider's DNS and will count your data.

Hi!
I'm a novice in the Android, XDA world...
I recently bought a G3, and after 1 day I had upgraded to Froyo.
But I'm having some troubles with proxy...
At my home, I don't need it, so everything works fine using my wifi connection.
But at work, I configure the proxy and Web Brower, Navigation, and others apps keeps working.
OTHO, some apps can't connect (eg. market, maps, rom gripper, etc).
Anybody knows where I can configure the default way of general apps connect to internet?
TKS.
The proxy probably filters your traffic and blocks it on not well-known ports. You should ask its administrator for details on what kind of traffic it allows (if that is feasible).

The proxy only allows connections on port 3128.
Do you think that some apps just woks with port 80?
And, if that's the case, anybody knows how to change it?
TKS
^i thikn itd be easier to use a different proxy than change app ports, but im not sure

I guess you're talking about use some app that changes the proxy address for all, include apps...
I'm using native G3 proxy settings. I tried connect using proxy with other apps but anyone did it for me, just the android's stock.
I need a file on system that allows me to change the connection configurations (I mean... I think I need it! )
Hey, Nathan I'm having a similar problem except that only port 8080 is open through proxy.
I am using transproxy to connect to the net.
All apps work except Market downloads and Gtalk dont work.
Did u get a solution ?

I can't do it yet. Here, the port that is open is 3128.
Some apps just bypass the proxy settings.
Even when I let the proxy (configured because my workplace network)configured, market works at my home (where there's no proxy).
But browser and others (that works fine with proxy) don't.
I don't know if this is a built-in app configuration (if it is, the only way is to create a route, using the address called by app, redirecting to the proxy - actually, I thought in that just now! I'll test it later! ), that is present on Market, Navigation, Maps and others...
Or if this is a system configuration. If it is, all we need is to find where its defined and change that.

I have Adguard paid version and was wondering if the VPN is good for hiding tracking on torrents in P2P clients like utorrent?

Nope, Adguard is a local VPN, so for remote servers your real IP stays the same.
Is there another app I can run simultaneously with Adguard that will hide or change ip for p2p
I am looking for the best free VPN / IP hider and wondering what you guys suggest???
Thanks
I don't know about free, but PrivateInternetAccess is what I use. it's $40/yr but you get apps for all your devices. They provide a SOCKS5 proxy too, which I setup in my torrent client to hide my torrent IP address, but still have full speed regular access for the rest of my internet usage. I've tried the PIA android app and it works as expected.

I've recently started using Opera VPN. It is a free app on Google Play Store. No charges and it works great for what I need on my phone. Don't want the corporate IT to see what I'm looking at on my phone at work while using wifi.

For torrents I use btguard 6 a month
I also use Private Internet Access and can confirm that it is great service. I run it on my windows 10 laptop and note 7 using the provided apps which have easy access settings for encryption standards. The reason why I chose PIA is they are based in USA, which paradoxically has no law requiring them to hold records of access, so even if they were subpoenaed they would have nothing regarding your browsing. Not that I'm hiding anything shady but it's nice to have some level of privacy online. I don't use it for torrenting but as mentioned they have socks.

Hi fellows
Need an advise for me
I want to buy a vpn May be NordVPN and use adguard premium
Moreover the two don't work together
Adguard is very good adblocker for me
And I'am not root
Thanks for u lights [emoji16]
Envoyé de mon oneplus 6T
I use Adguard Premium. Got it with a lifetime license for my phone and 2 PCs. Works fine for me. Some apps I have to exclude but no major issues and I've used it on multiple different phones, including my OP6T. Love it.
For the non root devices the following can be interesting; Adguard DNS is now available using DNS over TLS so the address can be added in private DNS:
https://adguard.com/en/adguard-dns/overview.html#instruction
I am using adguard dns, so far so good.
I'm using Blokada and not rooted.

Adguard premium here
Pretty much shuts down everything for my use. In app ads and what not.

no, no VPN needed, just put their hostname in the private dns settings:
DNS-over-TLS:
Use dns.adguard.com string for “Default” or dns-family.adguard.com for “Family protection”.

Any recommended settings for rooted 6T?
I'm using Adaway, root user.
Rooted - use adaway
Unrooted - use adguard dns or blokada or adguard vpn.
I am using Block This. simple and does what it should. Blocks ads throughout within games as well.
I always used Adaway never had any issues, rooted here
Also AdAway. rooted.

Such a easy way but I couldn't see that, thanx it works. So no need blokada.

You simply set it and it block ads :
What is AdGuard DNS?
AdGuard DNS is a free, privacy-oriented DNS resolution system that blocks tracking, ads and phishing. You can use it instead of your current DNS provider.

You do nothing, it's adguard DNS server that block them directly before they arrive to your phone. That's the 'new' way to adblock, using DNS provider with adblock lists included

Private dns
It only works on WiFi. Not mobile data.
Yes it does: it works on both wifi and mobile networks, as good and seamlessly as Adaway.
No need to root only for adblocking anymore.
If non-rooted, you don't need Blokada or any VPN based adblocker anymore.
Just set:
Settings > Wi-Fi & Internet > Private DNS > dns.adguard.com
and you are good without any additional app.
* Edit, may 2023
Now it's
dns.adguard-dns.com
It blocks ads AND trackers

Just keep in mind that with using this, you cant add any apps or sites to exceptions for when they won't work properly due to the adguard DNS blocking content. Only reason why I use the adguard app (use it on my 2 PCs and phone for an amazing deal) is so I can add exceptions or turn it off easily when needed.

My phone has an uptime of 475h, so the answer is : no
But we probably don't have the same apps installed, it can be a conflict between private dns and an app.
