Hi - I'm unsure which to buy so any advice is really appreciated!
I'm about to buy my first HU and all those I'm looking at have same spec: 8 core 4Gb 64Gb with DSP TDA785
The FunRover has a Spreadtrum SC9853I-IA chip, whereas the others have Rockchip PX5/PX30
Is Joying better in any way than the lesser know brands? Is FunRover respected (they say they have a European warehouse too). Most seem to use PX5 - is it good? Does anyone have any experience with the Spreadtrum?
I'd really appreciate any advice or opinions. I'll post a review once I get my HU.
Thanks!
Neither. Recommend Dasaita.

Thanks. Why are Dasaita better? Better audio/general quality/customer service? They seem to use very similar hardware.
I checked the Dasaita online shop and couldn't find a HU to fit VW Passat B7.
there you go..

Thanks, but I'm looking for a 2 din for 2012 passat.
Stay away from Joying ..

Yes, MTCD/E are all from MTC reference design. There are multiple resellers for each. Dasaita seem to be the best of the bunch in terms of reasonable quality, after sales (careful, multiple resellers).
Head over to the MTCD/E threads for more info. Also read wiki.

Hi.
Which is the best overall Android head unit?
I saw a tread here in xda with a lot of comments and views about the Ownice C500 ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/android-head-units/ownice-c500-released-t3478747 ) and I thought that this is the best because of the number of comments and views in this tread, so it would have a good community support too, I'm right? Product link: https://m.pt.aliexpress.com/s/item/...pm=a2g03.12010612.0.0.29bd38ccCCV5A0#autostay
Another member here in xda told me that the Dasaita V600 have a best community support, does anyone know this unit? Is it better than the Ownice C500? It's considerably cheaper, but I'm looking for quality over price. Product link: https://m.aliexpress.com/s/item/327...spm=a219c.12010608.0.0.5208143T6jna2#autostay
If you think that the best Android head unit is another model please share your thoughts.
Thanks
"The best" is incredibly subjective. I like my Ownice but that's because it fits my needs the best, not necessarily the best quality. With these units they all have some kind of quality defects, or functional defects or both. It really depends on what you want to do with it and what car you're putting it in. I am happy with my universal Octacore unit.

For the best I mean the one that have a good overall quality, functionality, upgradability, durability. It's for the Toyota Corolla 2018.
Count out upgradeability for Ownice. No one has had much luck getting them to release code to fix older model problems. Latest model Ownice reliability seems to be some good some bad usually screen problems.
Overall functionality seems good, some people have had Canbus problems but I have an older car that doesn't have this.

Thanks. Which brand would you buy today?
I don't know if they are the best, but I have had good luck with Joying. They release regular updates, and the Sofia units do pretty much everything I want them to.

I will probably buy this Asottu that is a Allwinner T8 https://m.pt.aliexpress.com/s/item/32800479508.html?spm=a2g0n.wishlist.0.0.21e788114AJ0o0& .
Don't know to compare it against Ownice or Joying, but this model is selling a lot.

How does one identify if a unit is MTC or FYT? I have a MTC unit and the bluetooth is horrible and I hear the FYT units are better. Is this true? I want to pick up an FYT unit and don't know how to find one?
What's the main differences between FYT units and MTC? I assume the FYT units have a different interface for coreboards, are they built better? Do they use similar/same MCUs?
If you're expecting the bluetooth to be magically better on an FYT, you are very seriously mistaken.
Just like MTC, with an FYT, you can expect problems with.... everything.
interesting. I read in another threat that specifically the fYT's have way better a2dp
I cannot vouch for that, but I can tell you that the FYT's definitely have problems with PHONE CALLS. You're lucky if the sound connects at all.
wow interesting and good to know..
wow ok that's good to know.
Unit 1. Android 9.0 w/PX6
Unit 2. Android 8.1
I've been looking at units to replace the stock one in my 09 wrx. The units say they are for Forresters, but they use the same console set up. I'm not sure which is a "better" unit. The PX6 is the hexacore, but has Android 9.0 and a cleaner interface. No built in Android Auto though, according to rep I am talking to through Ali.
Second unit does have built in Android Auto, but with the 8 core and a uglier interface. Does anyone have any experience, or could point me in a better direction even?
Thanks

PX6 Android 9 would be better.
But be careful as their are a lot of fake units on Ali at the moment. Their is a forum on here somewhere explaining it all. They are saying they are Android 9 with 2+32gb but turning out to just be android 6 with 1+16gb. They have somehow managed to code it so it reads differently. Personally I would purchase from a proper reseller or Amazon or eBay. I bought my 3 Xtrons units direct from their site. But they are a reseller and not the manufacturer. But they also have a lot of different models on their either custom fit or normal single or double din units that are universal. Also they sell the facias and wiring harnesses for all types of vehicles. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to know where that thread is or what it might be called?
Hi,
Im looking at one of these units from Joying for my older Jeep. Curious if these are FYT based or not?
Joying 6.2 Inch Single Din Android Head Unit with Cheapest Price Mirror Function
SKU: EU-Y-UOS04N1-BShip From: EU Warehouse (Only can ship to EU countries, cannot ship to other countries)CPU: SC7731E 1.3G Quad CoreRam:LPDDR4 1GB Rom:EMMC 16GBSupport Bluetooth,WiFi,DVR,OBD2,Back Up Camera

Does anyone have one of these adjustable screen units? Im looking to buying, the only thing I'm going to use it for is carplay thru a zbox zlink adaptor to play music and take calls. Will the 1GB model work ok for this? I think the specs are quite low, but the zbox Zlink or Carlinkit apps dont require much resources.
I ask if they are FYT because I have a Px3 2gb coreboard lying around, and if this unit is FYT based and I can just plug it in, getting the cheaper 1gb version vs the 4gb 8 octo core at twice the price seems like it would make more sense.
Anyone know?

All Joyings are FYT based.
I can't answer your other questions as I use the unit (4GB/64GB) as it is intended.
interesting. i emailed them to ask if the 1 gig+16gig one is fyt based and they said no.

Well, I guess they know better than I do, but if you look at all the apps: Those are the FYT apps.
Microntec, Topways, Antoto and other manufacturer apps do look different.
I would ask them which firmare you need for this unit, and then I'm very curious which firmware they point you to.
As per the title - what is the best Chinese Android headunit you can buy? I'm particularly interested in boot time & ease of using Carplay. Sound quality isn't much of a priority.

Hi you can buy units with DSP equalizer and qualcomm processor inside not mediatek Chinese ****. You won't regret it. For now best are expensive ones with octa core.
Just buy a genuine carplay unit. You're doing it backward looking for an android headunit but wanting carplay.

You mean a mainstream brand? There isn’t one that fits how I want, whereas things like these 10.1” ones
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mr8bBs6
are a perfect fit, I just want one which has a fast boot/ability to sleep, a decent screen and CarPlay. The ability to run other apps like torque is also a benefit of the Android units.
Search for 7862s units. That's the latest chipset for android head units. They all have very similar specs so no need to look for a special brand or device.

That’s great, thank you
Specifically FYT UIS7862 units. See FYT forums.
Always Require seller to send screen shots of Android system information. Avoid being scammed.
