Howdy all!
Did you install TWRP and then take the OTA, now you can't get your phone to boot normally, but you do see TWRP?
Here's the easy fix:
If you have ADB access, plug in your phone and run this:
Then you should be able to successfully reboot your phone via the TWRP menu option, or via a simple reboot command in adb.
If you DONT have ADB access (because of an early build of TWRP), you can simply use TWRP's awesome "terminal command" option to run the following:
You'll have to type that whole thing out, and be VERY careful with spaces and punctuation. One wrong letter and you could nuke your phone.
After that finishes, you can reboot and continue on your happy way!
Let me know if this helps anyone!
As usual, I'm on #lg-g2 in Freenode as IOMonster, if I'm around I'll be happy to help wherever I can.

try holding the power buttons for ten seconds or more if it boots into twrp and then just reflash your rom?

I screwed my phone too the day after I got lol but no worries its easy to fix. You just need to download a stock ROM and flash it, you don't even lose any data.
Just follow this simple guide.

Are you touching the back screen? I noticed that it is taking input from both screens.
Amazing! I guess it does not support data partition decryption though.. Does it?! Hope to see it someday! NTFS support for OTG would be last missing thing.
Hope people will report soon if backup AND restore work fine.. I'm testing backup, but don't dare to try erase/restore! I confirm back screen controls main (reverse).
ok, full tested with backup, restore .... working great as long a the EDP screen ins't pressed ^^
Works.
Confirmed the bug with touches on e-ink display, so be carefully.
I'll make an updated version with the e-ink screen disabled.
Is encryption working?
I don't use it myself so not tested so far ^^

can't you do 2 backups one decrypted and one encrypted .... so you can test and restore ?
The data partition where backups are is what's going to be encrypted.
You didn't get the point. I never talked about encrypted backups.
I just talked about encrypted DATA PARTITION, and it's decryption in TWRP.

So make a backup > copy backup to computer > make test > if bugs then reset phone from yotaflasher, flash recovery TWRP, copy backup from computer, then restore
I had issue restoring backups and Yota flasher seem troublesome (see related thread), which means lots of time required for all that. It's the reason I don't try it.

I tested it and decryption of data partition on TWRP don't work, it doesn't mount the encrypted data partition.

You can make a backup prior to encrypt the data partition, move it to a usb pendrive (or make to it directly), and restore it after encrypt data partition using the format data partition option in TWRP
Thanks for testing ! Evilracer, could you add that feature?

I always use Deuce's tool. Extract all the files and run his bat file. Just select N at the end so it doesn't wipe data. That way I know both partitions are updated to the latest images and I keep all my data.

Also, you will need to reflash TWRP and Magisk afterwards

Yeah, so read another thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/how-to/guide-how-to-install-google-software-t3760535
Just remove the -w from the script, I usually use Deuce though, have issue with flash all many times.
Will give it a go, and just select N on the Userdata...
EDIT: Well that's a first, used the flash-all and removed the -w and it ran fine. Miracle..has never worked, always used Deuce in the past. Whatever it takes I guess.
I know the rest of the routine for twrp and rooting. Just make sure your move pin/fingerprint...or else TWRP won't work/decrypt.
Thanks!

Well, to add. Did a dirty update. All works well, but having issues again with Magisk and failing Safetynet. I'm getting the "csProfile: false" error on the test.
Had both failures before on DP3, and the Play store services, clearing all data worked with that after a reboot. Not this trick now though. Guess others are having this as well in the other Beta thread and Substratum in this section.

It doesn't. I am guessing they're checking the build fingerprint now, which can't be changed with resetprop (just errors). This is expected according to their website so hopefully it will pass once the official release is out.
Android P beta devices aren't Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) approved, but they have passed preliminary testing and provide the same set of APIs for developers. Apps that depend on CTS-approved builds might not work normally on supported devices.

Only garantie is if you don't unlock the bootloader nor mod the phone/install custom ROMS.
What causes it to break usually is if the Persist Partition get damage or even if you flash another Persist on top of the Stock from the phone.

My advice will be when you unlock and flash twrp before flashing any ROM back up you persist image to you pc or an otg drive through twrp, just click on backup in twrp select it and back it up to you internal storage and copy it to your pc or if you have otg leave it on there but copy it to your pc for backup in case something happens to your drive. 2 ROMs that causes this issues are lineage os and the pixel experience rom that what I know so far they are pretty good but before flashing it do that back up first. And the twrp, I use this one https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TSGqgarTA8yDfH0KUYSgZkGyRA_qm_vF/view it has worked in every AOSP ROM I have tried. So that how I avoid that issues hop it helps you.

October Security Update just released today.
Official 2020, October, MiA2 Stock fastboot ROM image V11.0.15.0.QDIMIXM link in appropriate thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83773363&postcount=144
CAPTCHA:
After clean fastboot flashing of this version with flash_all_except_data -> rebooting phone forces to stock recovery and requests factory reset.
Seems like after installing OTA possible behaviours are: either the same request for reset, or bootloop.
Reflashed back V11.0.14.0.QDIMIXM in order to make data backup

same here, now I'll try to flash V11.0.14.0.QDIMIXM and let's see...

It worked, I did flash_all_except_data and at first reboot it went to recovery and it showed up the same message saying that data may be corrupt but when I tried to boot it again it worked fine... now I'll backup everything and let's see if it works well at every reboot.
*update2*
everything fine running V11.0.14.0.QDIMIXM
So this is yet another botched update to skip, got it.

same here, now I'll try to flash V11.0.14.0.QDIMIXM and let's see...
*update1*
It worked, I did flash_all_except_data and at first reboot it went to recovery and it showed up the same message saying that data may be corrupt but when I tried to boot it again it worked fine... now I'll backup everything and let's see if it works well at every reboot.
*update2*
everything fine running V11.0.14.0.QDIMIXM

I tried unsuccessfully to reboot, Everytime showed this message, finally I accepted to erase the phone and let download the backup, I lost some downloaded stuff I may download again later.
It's an Shane this happening to Android one devices, suddenly we got from special to second class citizens
I had the same problem, which was solved for me by going into fastboot and issuing a fastboot boot recovery which for some reason returned by phone to a working state with an update failed notification. will skip this one

Hi,
All I did was go into fastboot using the power and volume shortcut, and than I connected the device to my laptop and issued the command:
fastboot reboot recovery
(naturally using the SDK Platform tools)
After that, the phone started working again. Although there is no reasonable reason it should have worked. I was surprised enough so that I decided to take the effort to create an account here and share this for others. But again, maybe it was pure luck, YMMV.
Will be crossing my fingers for you.
I've tried to update and got the "Can't load Android system. Your data may be corrupt" messege. Tried again a few times, until the phone reverted back to the previous version and said it couldn't install the update. No October update for me. =(
