Okay, today I was about to flash a new rom so I attempted to wipe, but I got an error that the phone could not mount the cache (and later couldn't mount data). It says "E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command" on the next line "E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log" and the next "E:Can't open CACHE:recovery/log". So I have tried reflashing recovery to fix it and it did not work. I cannot flash any rom without an error or restore my nandroid backups. I am in the process of trying to restore the nandroid backups throught fastboot. Can anyone give me any help on this?
SOLUTION: blancoisgod recommends formatting the cache partition to fix this problem
Did you pull the battery and retry?
Yep. Actually, the phone wont even turn on anymore. I will just have to return it to tmobile tomorrow

This is exactly why manufacturers don't want people rooting and messing with their phones.
So because of your stupidity and lack of foresight you're now going to return your phone?! That's laughable.
Now T-Mobile and HTC have to pick up the bill for someone else's ignorance.
Note to self....remember your name and never help you!
No man dont turn it into tmobile. Now everyone is gonna ride you because you broke it and your going to return it because of what you have done, not the manufacturer.
Go ahead and turn it in, but please read around a bit before you do this again.

Your right it is my fault; although, I am not sure what I did wrong. I am not a complete idiot and have been doing this stuff for a while. I did everything by the instructions and this happened. I actually saw this happen to someone in the G2 forum but no one found a solution. I see how returning the phone would be wrong but what are my options? I am only 15, no income, so what could I do. If I had income of course I would just pay for a new phone. I hope I am not coming off as a dumb juvenile crook, I apologize.

Did you make a backup image? If so you could just flash your recovery image and be golden. If not, then your options are very limited.
I was not trying to hurt or insult your feelings but we constantly see people who 'think' they know what they're doing with these same issues all day every day.
My advice is limited as well at this point because I'm not sure exactly what you've done or precautions you had in place for this.
Can you even boot into the OS at all? Do a factory reset?

I cannot turn the phone on what so ever. I was flashing my backup through fastboot then tried to reboot and now it will no longer turn on. I fastboot erased recovery, system, userdata, and boot and restored them from the nandroid backup I had taken prior to the error. The day prior I had rooted successfully and flashed the desire z port. I decided I wanted to try the HD port so I wiped and flashed the rom. When I rebooted it got to the lockscreen and it showed some graphical corruption then began to boot loop. I turned it off and went to recovery and thats when the CACHE errors started. Was I supposed to wipe the dav cache because I am pretty sure I did. I just want to find out what I did wrong so it won't happen to me or anyone else.

Between ROM's, you said you wiped. What did you wipe? Cache? Dalvik? Partition?
You said you're not too sure so I am going to assume you either didn't wipe something you should have or you did wipe something you shouldn't have.
Try this. Remove the battery for 10 minutes. When the battery is removed, hold the power button for about 2 minutes. This will drain any residual current left on the board. After the 10 minutes are up, try reinserting the battery, hold the volume- button and try to power on. We'll see if you can manage to boot into recovery at this point.

Okay I will give that a try thanks.
I had the same error just right now man
What you want to do is format the cache partition when you get the thing booted.

Did you do that and did it fix? I did that through adb and thats when it stopped booting, although I think the boot issue is unrelated to my current problem.
i did it via clockwork
Alright, I will try this if I can ever get my phone started again.
Ok so I know you guys probably get this kind of stuff alot, but I cant seem to find a solution through searching.
So I was using the miui nb rom and was having some problems with it, so I figured I would reflash it. I booted into recovery, and cleared dalvik cache, wiped cache, wiped data/factory reset, then I formated the system. WELL for some odd reason my mind went retarded and I formated my sdcard also. So apperently it wiped my entire sdcard, and when I try to install zip from sd it says No Files Found. So then I figured I would odin back to stock, well now the computer doesnt detect anything when I plug in my usb and my phone wont go into download mode or recovery now. It is stuck in a bootloop it just shows the white vibrant then it shows the bali kernal picture. Ive tried EVERY method to get into download mode already. I really dont wanna have to get a jig or anything. Is there anything I can do?
Edit. So I think I made it worse. I got into recovery, and did a factory reset and formated everything. Now my phone just stays on the screen with the Vibrant icon and doesnt do anything
This is the classic example of not reading and researching what you are doing...good news....your not hard bricked.. bad news......time to do some research while your phone is down and heart rate is up
I know. Any suggestions?
Well I feel dumb. Turns out to be a simple fix. My usb cable was the problem. Sorry lol

Hi fellow XDA-ers,
I am sorry to say I was too overconfident this time and while attempting to reset my phone, and i bricked it (i think).
So I was updating my N910F to the latest build of the official CM12.1, but I kept receiving weird problems such as no audio when taking videos, or random force closes. Since i hadn't done a wipe in a while (approx 3 months) i thought I'd do it before installing the latest build.
I booted into TWRP recovery, and then did an advanced wipe, and wiped system, data, cache and dalvik (i.e. everything but the ext sd card and the internal storage). I wanted to be thorough you see...
I then attempted to reboot the recovery before doing the installation, but I accidentally pressed system instead of recovery in the reboot menu.
Now my phone only gets to the samsung splash screen, waits for about 3 seconds and then closes again. I have to remove the battery and reinsert it again to get it to repeat this. Plugging it into the PC doesn't allow it to start. I can't reach recovery (otherwise this would be simple!). What can i do?
I would appreciate any and all help you can offer! please help!!

Don't be scared mate, I know it looks ugly but I doesn't, here what you need to do:
first of all try to boot into DOWNLOAD mode, if you can, then you are FINE, power off the phone and press and hold Volume down+home+power for about 5 sec then let them go, phone will boot into DOWNLOAD mode, then
go to www.sammobile.com and download the latest firmware for your device model,
download Odin, there on sammobile website they have the instructions and everything you need,
read and follow all steps and instructions
after downloading the firmware you gonna unzipped and extract the odin file, then
open Odin, Click PDA and navigate to the file you extracted,
then click start, PHONE MUST BE ON DOWNLOAD MODE
This will restore your phone from factory, everything will be wiped, just to let you know, you gonna end having like a brand new phone, now after that, you can root your phone again, and be more carefull fashing roms,
If helped please use the Thanks Button, god bless, cheers:fingers-crossed:

Hi, thanks for your reply
Before restoring I did a full backup on titaniumBackup so I'm not worried at all about resetting the phone to stock. Trouble is, i can't get to download mode. The phone dies before I can get it to that mode. Is there a way to force it into download mode?
thanks so much for replying so quick!

It lives!
It works perfectly now! thank you so much! I have been rooting for many years now so I thought I knew it all! Guess we learn something new everyday
Speaking of which, if you are willing, can you please explain what went wrong? I would like to know what I did so I can better understand my mistake. I am sure it has to do with what i deleted from the advanced wipe menu? What happens if i wipe and then restart?
Thanks again friend, very quick, friendly and helpful.

well, for my understand this is where you made a mistake I then attempted to reboot the recovery before doing the installation, but I accidentally pressed system instead of recovery in the reboot menu.
after wiping everything you phone doesn't have anything to boot, ive done it before as well, nothing wrong with that, that's the only cost, booting to factory again, but it was good you had everything backed up with titanium, just like me lol, you already know next time just go easy thru recovery, cheers:fingers-crossed:
I've noticed that after going back to stock Oxygen with root my lock screen wallpaper is not centered. It seems to be shifting to the left of center. Is there a fix or reason why this is happening? Don't have this issue with any other ROM...
Try factory reset, it maybe hanged out. Coudl help it this way.

I'd give it a shot but when I installed this time around I actually followed the Unbrick method from here.. Unbrick Guide .. I can only assume this wiped everything and anything from the phone? I sometimes wonder if I'm getting a good wipe.

Well if you want to wipe everythink you need to do the factory + wipe data. I also suggest to wipe dalvik and partition cache. This will not only wipe your data but your current OS. So you need to flash it again.
I need help! My Nexus 4 on 4.4.3 is stuck in a boot loop! I don't know how this happened; however the [fix root? (Yes)] option in CWM recovery is missing! and I can't boot into safe mode to uninstall an app that I think might be causing this; (My phone died while I was using Hangouts and the bottom LED light flashed twice. That's the last thing I remembered before my phone became....a paper weight. Do you have any suggestions? Is there a way to boot into Safe Mode via. ADB or a button command on KitKat? I freally do not want to factory reset my device. I have too many unupdated apps and pictures and personal things on my phone that I've been building for... well 4 years since I've gotten the phone. Any advice will be appreciated, - Milo

1. What do you see when you connect the charger?
2. Are you able to boot in to recovery?
3. If yes, have tried, clearing cache and dalvik cache?
4. Do you remember how much battery was left?
Nitin
1. What do you see when you connect the charger?
Charging indicator. My phone still tells me how much charge is in my phone.
2. Are you able to boot in to recovery?
Yes I Am! (ClockworkMod)
3. If yes, have tried, clearing cache and dalvik cache?
Yes I have.... Numerous times
4. Do you remember how much battery was left?
Very close to being dead
I'm trying to figure out a way to perform a CWM backup to an external source, i.e. a USB Drive via. OTG; do you have any suggestions in terms of backup? Like a full Titanium Style Backup. Mind you my phone only had about 1.2 Gigabytes free upon this demise.
I hope that this extra bit doesn't impede you from aiding me further to your initial understandings and knowledge.
Hope to hear from you soon!
I'm still trying.
