Hi, I received my MI9T and I want to unlock the bootloader, flash TWRP and the EU rom and then Magisk...
But before doing this... How do the OTA updates work?
I can update the phone or should I un-root the phone every time?
Every week i flash new update throw twrp, works fine
Gregor, which twrp are you using?
I've already asked this, and after some experimentation I can confirm this way works:

sry... first you need to unlock your bootloader, flash revoltion recovery ... got it?
Then you need to download firmewarefinder from the play store. find your rom and download the second file. then flash it... now you should have everthing working like it should. Used it myself on b700.
I maybe find the post from where i got the introductions
if you followed the instructions for nougat you have flashed 2 files, and everything shoulhttps://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3599285&goto=nextnewestd work. i'd suggest to try again, and reading the instructions very closely. good luck
I guess you missunderstood me. I got OTA update from Huawei. I flashed no custom roms. A few days ago I received the update for Nougat (B361 i guess) and since then my bluetooth is not working...

Thx for ur replies, but I don't want to install custom roms. Is there a possibility to completely reinstall the stock rom so that the phone is unrooted again?

I will try your method but firsr I have a question: If i restart my phone I get a message on my screen that my phone is unlocked and can't be trusted. So that means my bootloader is already unlocked and I don't have to unlock it again? So I only have to flash revolution recovery and find the file in firnware finder?
Is there a instruction how to install revolution recovery and where to find the file...?

Hey all,
My phone has finished downloading the latest update, but I'm holding off on updating until I know that it doesn't close out my option of rooting at a later date. Is that the case? Or should I hold off just in case?
Mine updated to 13a and i have root and twrp
Same here. I updated, then did the bl unlock/twrp/root. Works great!

Can you explain what you did? New to this phone. Havent even connected it to wifi yet. Should I root/twrp first and then update? I was under the impression that updating could remove twrp, and then Id have the possibility of losing root/unlocked bootloader.
What should I do to ensure Ill keep my options open in the future?

So unlock, install twrp, and then do not install the new update right? Would I even be able to install the update if I tried?

Update Zip is online in the romsection.
there is also a step by step.
with the zip you do not lose twrp.
for root flash supersu or magisk directly after installing the rom.
Does the latest update increase battery life

Hello!
I have recently installed November Update and now I want to root my phone. Does anybody know a method so I will root my phone after that update (or maybe it isn't necessary)? I need certainty, that it will work.
Cheers!

Heh, I have noticed that. I think I'll just wait for November patch, then use AIO Tool.
A: Yes, you'll recieve official OTAs as long as you have stock recovery installed. But there are chances that after rooting if you install any OTA then it might brick your mobile.

Does it mean, that there is a chance, that after installing OTA update (with root), my phone may got bricked/bootloped/etc.?
Hi I have a G5+ US version phone. I have TWRP and Magisk installed. I want to upgrade to the latest OTA. Where can I get the OTA, and what is the procedure with an unlocked and rooted phone? See screen shots of about phone.
TIA

You need to flash the firmware to update the device if you update it's with root then the device will hard brick, so you need to flash the whole firmware so you can upgrade the device.

Can I remove root, and update it with an OTA, of does the unlocked bootloader cause a problem as well?
Do you know where I can get the firmware?

You need to unmodified all things which you have installed, such as root, module's,etc. To flash the ota if there any modifications, then there are changes of brick. So suggest you to flash the firmware. And if you want data then use LMSA and make a backup and restore after upgrading it.
I think I am just going to do a custom rom instead.

Guys today morning I got the OTA UPDATE to PIE. I am currently on v340 with an unlocked bootloader and TWRP already installed.
Should I go with the OTA update? Will it cause any errors?

Stay on oreo, pie is a disappointment over oreo in many ways, like BB reduced, sound quality reduced, no night light and most important you can't play PUBG in HD and many more.
If you really want to taste pie then you can use custom pie roms otherwise stay on stock oreo.

Can I update or not? I don't care if I lose TWRP. I don't play PUBGM. Will it cause any issues as my phone already has TWRP. Can I simply download the OTA and get on with the installation.

If your bootloader is unlocked then it's not a good idea to update via FOTA in my opinion. Wait for until someone made a flashable Twrp zip.

To install any rom using twrp you must download the rom and place it in your storage
Then boot into twrp
Click on install and and browse to your file click on it and flash it...
You can also do clean flash by wiping your sytem and data before flashing....
I saved update file on SD card, restarted mobile and update proces itself started.
Everything was fine.

I think I should wait till someone makes a TWRP flashable zip. Way too much hassle, again going back to stock rom using adb, then updating the rom, then installing Twrp and magisk again.
