I'm having issues with xiaomi android:
1.
Some icons: ie. chrome, gmail, messenger have white background. Even in non-default launcher. How to force device to use standard application icons? But apps from xiaomi itself have transparent backgrounds (ie. settings)
What I googled is all outdated:
Themes - can't start in my region, so I changed region to HK (some bloatware installed, so anyone else - don't do it, trust your instinct, not someone on internet ), opened themes, downloaded limitless, it is same icons - I thought it would not work, it did not, it only installs bloatware.
Typical "advice" on forum ... please don't answer like that.
2.
I would like to uninstall some default apps.
Even apps like gmail and chrome are, system or something and I guess xiaomi still manages it somehow and for example gmail - even if I allowed it in autostart and set it as no restriction in battery I still sometime receive notification about emails with tens of minutes of delay.
Still some apps I just want to uninstall.
3.
Default weather app not updating weather on home screen until I lunch it and refresh. All automatic updates apart from [do not update between 23 and 7] are enabled, no restriction in battery manger (not possible to set even ), autostart allowed.

Several apps periodically do s.th. in the background. I'm fine with that. But why are some apps not listed in the background tasks list under preferences - applications (or the advanced page)??
For example on my setup Facebook is missing there, although it does give me notifications and updates the live tile. Other background apps are not listed there as well.
I'd like to find out which apps are really working in the background sometimes. How can I?
Hi there.
Due to app recommendations here and elsewhere I installed a few lock-screen applications. But (due to TouchWiz?) none of them work. I downloaded (for example):
DashClock Widget
Korean Vocab Widget
PieControl
And a few more that I already uninstalled / forgot. I checked the "Lock Screen" and "Display" settings (as well as the settings of the above apps), but there were no new options in the former two settings. Nor did any changes within the apps' settings help.
How can I make sure that those apps / widgets will work in the future? Or should I give up all hope?
I am willing to root my system, but not more. I am mostly happy with TouchWiz, but that Samsung dictates all customization is a bit annoying.
So far, cheers
I'm not sure if this has been pointed out already, but I have found a reddit thread which gives instructions on how to do just that.
I'm running Temasek's android 5.1.1 with the 5.1.x Xposed framework(by romracer) and I'm in complete bliss, I've been freed from the Touchwiz lag wagon!
It's not perfect, some splitscreen bugs here and there, but floating windows are very useable; resizable, moveable, minimizeable.
The Touchwiz alternative isn't perfect either,so...yeah..
The AOSP alternative is actually faster and smoother then on Touchwiz.
My essential apps are perfectly* able to be floated or splitted, these include:
-Chrome, Youtube, Password manager, Note taking, Calculator, email, messaging, office, file explorer, pdf reader.
*most apps are floatable via the recent app screen, however the apps that refuse this action can be forced to comply (float on app open).
Here's the original link: https://www.reddit.com/r/nexus6/comments/2wh9vw/multiwindow_for_the_nexus_6_thanks_to_xposed/ only use the mentioned version ofcourse.
Do's and dont's:
-Don't fiddle around with the 'xHaloFloatingWindow>SystemUI Modes' and/or ',, ,, ,,>Status Taskbars', as it may cause System UI to crash constantly (even if you disable xposed, rooted apps keep crashing).
-more to come.
Some quick settings and tips:
-Set/keep the ',, ,, ,,>Popup Behavior>Whitelist/Backlist options' to default if you wish.
-To force apps into floating mode, add an app to ',, ,, ,,>Popup Behavior>Whitelist Apps'.
-MultiWindowSlidebar is only useful for apps which have been forced into floating mode, any other apps added will be opened in fullscreen (these apps will need to be floated via the recent apps menu).
-unfortunately some apps refuse to open floated(via recents) once they're already opened the normal way, which makes it impossible to open them floated unless you forcefully do so.
Forcing them may or may not be useful. However you don't have to; if you kill the app(via app info screen) and the killed app still shows in recents, you can reopen it in floated(the app is restarted in floated that way, through recents).
There is an even quicker way to achieve this, and I discovered it by accident.
If you're on Tamesek's rom, go to 'settings>Tamesek spare parts>app bar'
Enable it, add you're apps in it.
If you now long press an app in the app bar it'll open in a floating window(some apps must be closed before they can be floated;just close them via recents).
The app bar has in effect replaced my multiwindowsidebar app.
-more to come
Functionality loss compared to touchwiz and/or decrease in reliability:
-no 4 way split screen, only 2 way.
-no app bubbles (these however can be turned on and showed in the notification bar, if you've set the right setting).
-Apps floated via recent's do not get a 'bubble' in the notif. bar if they get minimized. However you can reopen the apps in recents and the apps will reopen themselfs as floated.
-It's not as easy to snap 2 app's side by side.
-Some apps crash/misbehave whereas on TW they wouldn't have.
-Some apps misbehave when forced into float, but do not when it's floated from recents.
Vice versa.
-Split screen divider bar doesn't always show up>Can't resize on the fly.
-Status bar causes some floated apps te misbehave; I use gmd gestures to quickly hide/unhide the bar.
Analyse the relevant behaviors to adapt to them.
-more to come.
All the fluidity of AOSP bundled with most of the functionality of TouchWiz, I highly recommend you try out his instructions. You won't be disappointed, though you will be needing some patience.
Let me know how it went and share your experiences.

i'm mostly happy with this tablet, rooted with one of the great tutorials on this site (kingoroot then supersu), and I've added Google services/play store. I have a few small glitches though so I thought I'd set them down here and see if anyone else has them, and if there are any fixes. Mostly they are trivial, and some are just general questions.
(I bought the pro version of titanium backup so i could freeze some of the amazon processes (I don't really want any of them; i'll never use them so they're just going to waste battery; get in the way of nova launcher etc). I've been very careful with what I froze and "pm disable"d though.)
1) If i go to settings/storage and select internal or sd card it shows me the page briefly then goes back to the storage page.
2) When I click on settings/power/battery I don't get a graph of battery usage. Is this normal? Usually you can see how long ago you charged it, which apps have use battery etc.
3) There's no settings/accounts/google so how can I see which Google apps are syncing?
4) I had to sideload Netflix. Is this normal (for a rooted HD 10)?
5) I have 5 google accounts I've added to Google Photos (I have a lot of photos!). The initial "downloading photos" seems to take ages. Perhaps it's no slower than usual but it's not showing you the photos until they're all downloaded. Worse, this app quits by itself sometimes. It's the most unstable app I've used in the few days I've had this device.
6) The app Amazon for Tablets just quits when I try and run it. Does it require some of the background stuff I've disabled. It's not really worth enabling them for it, i'm just curious.
7) Can I somehow add a pattern unlock instead of pin/password?
8) Can I disable the lockscreen wallpaper? Where are they stored on the tablet - perhaps I can just delete them/replace with a single black jpeg.
9) Can I edit the swipe down notification options (which are currently wifi, airplane, blue shade, do not disturb, bluetooth, help, rotation, camera)?

Some apps have to be sideloaded because the app version is for cell phones only.
Amazon apps, Store and Kindle have not worked for me for awhile... Not sure what is going on.

Netflix isn't for cell phones only. It appears in the play store on my other phones and tablets.
I'm not too bothered about the Amazon stuff - I have a real kindle for reading books; this tablet is great for PDFs (which are hellish on a kindle). I'm not sure there are many apps on the amazon store which aren't on the playstore, and I guess I'll just have to live without the amazon app. The website is pretty good anyway. I suspect if I was bothered I could unroot and factory reset this device and start over and just add the play store and remove no amazon stuff, but that would be a lot worse than my current situation.

1) You debloated. It likely has something to do with Free Time and the files surrounding it's function. Unfortunately only way to fix without root, is a factory reset.
2) Download and install Activity Launcher. Tap top left panel, and then all activities. Scroll to settings, tap it, you'll see more battery options, unfortunately not detailed. Scroll down further for 'usage statistics ' for individual app usage stats.
3) Using activity launched again, still in settings, tap 'accounts'. Then tap the three dogs at the top right corner. Make sure 'auto sync' box is checked. You can't see the individual syncing options though. Also in activity launched > settings tap 'backup and reset.' Make sure the toggle to back up to Google cloud is selected. You cannot enter an email, that's for Amazon backup.
4) You can download a compatible Netflix apk from their website here.
5) Google Photos is give or take. Move pictures and whatever else you want to use, to Google Drive. That works better, especially if you keep Amazon Photos.
6) Debloating causes this across many apps. Amazon makes sure everything is connected. I don't use any Amazon apps so these are give or take as well.
7) No pattern yet. I'm working on it. I just need to figure out how to edit the SystemUI ap k and reinstall it. No luck yet.
8) Amazon Photos controls lock screen wallpaper. You can only change it through settings > display > wallpaper. That changes home and lock screen wallpapers. If you delete Amazon Photos, you lose the ability to change the lock screen. You cannot disable the lock screen wallpapers.
9) Amazon uses a different notification panel than the standard SystemUI interface. So far, with root, GravityBox changes only status bar icons, but not tiles. I have not yet figured out where Amazon tucks away their panel. Some is in SystemUI some in the framework.

Thanks for responding! It can be hard to get "the answer" to specific questions on this site sometimes!
1) I was very careful with what I altered, and as far as I know I only disabled stuff (I bought titanium pro and froze a few things that I couldn't disable even as root) so presumably I can unfreeze it. I suppose I could have poked around more without root but I was worried that I might get an amazon update I could no longer root, and that I couldn't replace the launcher with nova launcher. If this (inability to look at what items are taking up space in the sd card/internal) is the only symptom of "debloating" then it's a fair trade and I'll put up with it).
2+3) I will check out "activity launcher".
4) I didn't know about that! "Rooted or uncertified Android mobile devices are unable to download the Netflix app from the Play Store. Rooted or uncertified mobile devices are not blocked from accessing Netflix, but, depending on configuration, may not function properly." Might as well leave them up on the play store then, eh? Very odd. Still, solves my fears about sideloading tampered-with apps.
5) I use google photos on several other devices and the web. I upload stuff, move between albums, share. If I can do all of that on google drive then it might be worth whatever time it takes. I'll check it out!
6) This was one of the apps I couldn't disable until I bought titanium pro, so that's solved now. (I froze whispernet and other stuff that was taking up cpu/battery and the device didn't seem to get any more unstable).
7) It's not a big deal. I'd check out any fix you make (assuming I find out about it somehow - remember to post it in one of the forums on this site!)
8) I might temporarily enable google photos then, long enough to disable them. I'm not sure how many photos are cycled between on the lock screen, and whether they're downloaded or stored on the device. I couldn't find them when I had a quick look.
9) It's not a big deal, but i'm never going to use most of them.
Cheers!
Well, I unfroze everything (then refroze some apps like kindle, amazon for tablets (which still didn't work)) and some of the menu items have come back to life. I still can't set lockscreen wallpaper - the settings for wallpaper only affects the main screen. That's not big deal really - I don't want to fiddle with this thing forever. I can see that google and firefox are both set up to sync but clicking on them doesn't do anything. I don't get notifications on lichess, which is odd. I get notifications for youtube so it's not like the system is broken, and notifications aren't disabled on a per-app basis for lichess. The activity launcher lets me see the battery details like you said (although you can access activities directly with nova launcher so it's not required) - there's some text you can hardly read on those pages though because it's very dark text on a very dark background.
Hello Everyone!
In the present year. I see that the development of roms for this terminal is too low, we only have 2 Cyanogenmod roms that continue today in bootloop, despite the efforts of some contributors in this forum. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...om-s-iii-mini-value-edition-gt-i8200-t3432885
Not to mention that there are other roms that are only modifications to the system, based on Samsung's own touchwiz, in that version, jellybean, which as we know, is not compatible with many applications of Google play today. Therefore, I have spent some time developing modifications that can improve the appearance of the user interface of this terminal, based on the Stock System, so as not to have to resort to the "roms" that would deviate a bit in performance..
Compatibility:
GT-I8200N/L/Q
Requirements:
TWRP or Philz Touch Recovery
Root
REMEMBER TO DO A BACKUP OF YOUR SYSTEM IF SOMETHING WENT WRONG ON THE INSTALLATION
First, install this deodexed rom, because we need a lot of free space in the system partition. You can find the zip file here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-mini/general/rom-deodex-rom-goldenvess-3gxx-t2990545
Remember to say thanks to the developer
Next, install Baroni kernel with odin, that is alocated in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-mini/general/kernel-baroni-kernel-alpha-t2976241
Next, just start the system with normality, complete the setup wizard, here we start
We need the following apps for this
Solid Explorer (I reccomend this app, but you can use any other Root Explorer)
Link2SD
Wait at least 10 minutes after the startup for the Google Play Services Update
In Solid Explorer (or any other) go to this path: /system/ and replace the build.prop with the file below, and restart. (After startup, a Android Update Notification shows, this happens because the build.prop makes Google Play Services think that we have a Pixel 3 XL, don´t install the update, or you want that the Earth explode? xD) This is useful for add compatibility for some Google apps that we have to install for the Google AOSP Style. Like Chrome, Earth, Messenger, Photos, Keep, etc.
Next, in Solid Explorer, go to /system/app/ folder, and delete the next packages (Avoid to delete the Touchwiz home, because we need it after):
All font packages
All Samsung Packages (except phone and contacts)
Bloatware apps
Now download and copy the .apk files below in the /system/app/ folder with -rwxrwxrwx (777) permissions.
Now, delete the app data of Play Store and Google Play Services, open Play Store and install this Google Apps:
Google App
Google Chrome
Google Photos
Google Text-to-speech
Google Keep
Google Calendar
All Play Apps (Music, Movies, Books, Games)
Google Messenger
Now, with Link2SD integrate all installed apps in the /system partition.
Next, fully shutdown your phone for 5-10 minutes (I´m sure that the phone is to 2000ºC after all of that modifications xD)
Start your phone and install Xposed Installer (Don´t worry, you can install Xposed like an AOSP phone, because this touchwiz variant doesn´t have much differences)
Before restarting after installation, download the following Modules:
Gravitybox (JB)
Wanam Xposed (Jellybean)
Monster UI
DroidTint
Remember to activate this modules after rebooting for save time, this process is too long, but, looks nice after all
After reboot, go to Gravitybox, in the status bar settings, go down and activate "Use lollipop signal icons", and up, in the status bar colors section, activate the "colored icons" option, and configure the icon color to white (#ffffff), next, in the start page, go to transparency settings and set all to 100%.
In Monster UI, set the primary and secondary colors to pure google blue (ff0076ff). In the framework settings, do the same with switchers, checkboxes, progressbar and seekbar. And finally, in SystemUI TW settings, disable status bar icons; extended status bar, and recent panel (optional).
Finally, in Wanam Xposed, go to notification panel settings, and set the clock size to small, the default position is right, but if you want, you can set it to the left for a better look. And this is the good part, the notification panel personalization, really, it looks really nice
Go to theme settings
Set the header background color to dark gray (ff292929)
Use the same color for: Notification Background, Title Bar Background, Clear Button Background, Bar Color, Background Color and Tile Background Color
Use the white color (e5ffffff) for: Title Bar Text Color and Icon Color
Enable: Hide no notifications title bar, divider line and handle divider line.
Remember that in DroidTint you just disable the darker tint and that´s all.
Restart and enjoy you brand new system
Optional:
Copy the boot and shut animations from Pixel in /system/media/ that are located in the same link below.
Change the lcd density in the build.prop file to 225 and restart.
Add the following lines in the build.prop file for a better boot and shut animations perfomance
boot.fps=30
shut.fps=30
Here are all the needed files:
