I have the phone for about a month now and the performance is great. Since MIUI has pretty slow animations I turned them down a little in the developer options. Camera is also great especially for the price. It's even better when you are using the Gcam port especially in low light. If you are planing to use Android Auto though then forget it. It doesn't work with this phone and nobody knows when or if Xiaomi will fix it.

Superb phone better than other crap

Ok great! Thanks guys!

Don't buy this phone. It is too heavy, camera is ****.

The camera is great, I don't know what this above guy is talking about.

Yes, camera is bad in low light conditions, take a closer look at details on picture taken at night.

Why people complain about a budget phone's camera is beyond me. Go buy a Note 10+ then.

Good phone with decent camera which can be improved upon a lot by GCAM, great battery life with a very efficient processor. Oh and the display is pretty amazing as well

Gcam is better for a low light if it is a problem for a keicaM80.

Was in ATT this morning and did a bunch of comparisons...really no contest...especially in low light..(he let me use the back room).
You KNOW camera upgrades must be the next stop on Samsungs Galaxy roadmap.
I certainly hope so. The camera from the Note 1 isn't notable, at least in my usage. It's a lot faster, that's for sure. But now most of the time the images aren't as clear because it just snaps the picture right away instead of focusing...
I really hope they fix this with firmware updates because I'm kind of disappointed. But I got this phone for the screen and pen as well as the camera. It's still a very good camera in well lit situations, but as you said, low light is a shame... a darn shame...

Imao the Smartphone itself is pretty nice and so is wp8! The only thing that (still) bothers me is the lack of Apps in the wp store. And that existing Apps are partwise just terrible programmed (e.g. superslow whatsapp)

Did you try the low light mode on note 2? It works great for me! Btw, i haven't compared the two for camera performance myself, but going by reviews it seems Lumia 920 takes better low light shots but note 2 captures better daylight shots. I also like the colours captured by note 2 better and more natural than lumia's. Having said that, i however do think that samsung needs to improve upon the low light camera performance on deafult settings (which btw is better than my Xperia S though).
Maybe the 920 takes better pictures, but it doesn't mean the Note 2 camera isn't great. There's a thread here showing off how great the camera is and if I had to choose between the 920's current camera and feature set or the Note 2's current camera and feature set...it's Note 2 all day.
Meh......i'm in more lighted situations when taking pics anyway. And when i'm not i use the "low light" setting. Would never jump to a smaller screen and a choked OS just for better low light pics....lol

Rate oneplus 2 camera

Hi folks,
I am thinking about getting the 2. However, in advance I want to make sure it's camera suits my needs.
I read a lot of reviews, including camera. I reckon though these referred to the device before it's camera update was dirtibuted.
So what do you think? How is it performance especially in low light? I don't care as much about video.
My other option would be the g4 (which I would get for 50€ less than the two). The issue just is don't like lg's UI.
So let me know your thoughts.
Cheers

If I were you, I would pick LG G4. I have owned my op2 for 3 weeks. The most glitch is bad experience of taking picture especially under low light. I dont mean the result is bad but the viewfinder lags obviously and shutter speed is very very very slow. Focus speed, I dont want to talk about it. It reminds me of my moto phone that I bought in 2004!!!! If you really care about camera performance, the answer is LG G4. The picture shot by OP2 looks great but you will never like the progress.
LG G4 has the best camera of the year.
G4's camera is better than OP2...
The camera is good its the OS crap, I think we have to wait for a savior to make a good rom for it or test some camera apps, it might be better.
Ps: camera shoting too slow ? Change from auto to manual mode, saves a lot of time !
If you stick with stock-camera (and maybe stock-rom): Camera is at least average. Not bad, but for sure not the best you'll find (now). IF (!) OnePlus steps a big step ahead and update the software & drivers in the correct direction, it can for sure compete with most smartphone-cameras out now. But until then & you don't have patience to wait for beloved devs for this really young device & you're no flash-a-holic: You should watch for a different phone.
OnePlus 2 will be great, but like I said: It will take time.
I've done some good samples with MoKee Opensource and ProShot - not disappointed about. You decide .
The hardware on the oneplus 2 is great but its the software that's really holding this device back. It's has so many dumb bugs that you don't expect to see on a finally release of a phone. To brag about your camera yet have such a blend camera experience with a slow shutter speed doesn't make sense. I wish they had mended their relationship with cyanogen mod because I don't think their new paranoid team is up to the task of creating an OS for this phone.

Lgg6! Is it worth buying?

Hi guys!
I've owned g2, 3, 4, 5 and v10 and 20.
I really like lg phones but I got a bit disappointed on my g5.
Has anyone bought g6 and if you did what's your first impressions on the phone?
Camera, battery life etc..
Thank you!
I've had mine since Wed night and so far, I really like it. The deciding factor for me was the promotions with the purchase through Sprint, which included a Google Home and 49" 1080p TV and the placement of the finger print reader. I previously had S7 Edge and I think I liked the bright colors and true blacks on the S7 screen more, but the G6 screen is by no means a disappointment. The colors are more accurate than the AMOLED screens and it is really clear plus the finger print reader works WAY better than the S7 did and it's quick. The G6 feels solid and it's easy to hold. I feel the speaker is decent but not great. As for battery life, it's too hard to tell at this point because "doze" learns behavior and usually takes a few days to really optimize battery life, but out of the box I would say decent so far, considering I'm on it all the time LOL. I also feel the camera is better than the S7 and I'm going to really get use out of the wide-angle lens. I do not regret the choice at this point. I've had LG "G" series phones in the past and feel it's the best one by far. I prefer Google Assistant over Bixby since it's has the google knowledge base behind it and it already works with so many other smart home devices.
If you are all about specs, then S8 is probably the way to go because it's got the new generation processor.
That's really helpful thanks!
I don't mind specs. I'm currently on xiaomi mi max and just figured out that specs mean nothing!
I really prefer lg's camera over samsung's and I'm glad to know its good.
I've read some reviews saying that the camera is a disappointment over the past cameras and I got a bit worried!

In low light the camera struggles. Any motion in the image turns into a blur. The shutter speed is entirely to slow in low light but theres hope an update is coming soon. Other than that the phone is incredible. Battery has been amazing. 6 1/2 hours screen on time every single day.

Specially for an lg phone.

Totally agree about the low light. In normal use the camera is outstanding and wide angle is so useful. I'm seeing others getting 7 hours SOT which is remarkable for a 3300 battery. I haven't really turned anything off on mine as far as settings go so for me 6 1/2 is way more than I expected.

HI There! Just wanted to share my experience so far. I'm coming from an S7 and have used LG phones in the past. The user experience in general has been great. I love the screen, love the feel in the hand and I really enjoy software experience too.
BUT - The camera is not good. I have a little boy, so I literally take about 20 photos a day - So far this camera has been really disappointing. For this reason I will sell the phone and get something else.
I also received a really weird error / phone warning earlier today, which is actually detailed here if you wanted to take a look: http://g.co/ABH
edit: sorry I didn't explain why I don't love the camera. Colours look pretty good, however there is a massive issue with focus. Even just the slightest movement causes the picture to blur. This is very noticeable with the wide angle lens, which obviously doesn't have OIS, however this issue is still present with the primary shooter. If i didnt rely on the camera so much, I'd really love this phone. However I'd rather have a phone that i didn't love, for the sake of good photos.

That's weird I've never seen seen that before.
Man, I don't know what to think. On one hand I really want to get this phone as I held the S8 and BB and really don't like the fingerprint sensor location or curved screen. Those SOT reports some of you have is amazing! On my S6 I'm lucky to get 2hrs! So mostly I want the G6 because of a beefy battery, flat screen, and better camera (the OIS has been wonky in my S6 since early in it's life...I have to shake/smack the phone to get it to kick in and actually focus). But this motion blur has me a bit wary. I guess every phone choice is a compromise of some sort or another.
I can also confirm that the camera has issues with low light and movement. I've got a 2 year old, and virtually every shot of her is blurry unless I take it in full daylight. I upgraded from the LG G4, and I never had such a hard time getting a focused picture of her before. (For example, I had to take 20 pictures of her on a swing set to get 1 in focus.. shutter speed was reporting at 1/120. My G4 NEVER had an issue where her entire body was blurry and usually anything over 1/60th came out clean). Low light is also somewhat relative. I have a lot of issues indoors and at dusk, neither of which I would ordinarily consider low light situations and both of which my G4 handled better. I've been playing around with manual mode and have found that I can usually get a clean picture in low light and with movement there, so I'm mostly confident it's a software issue that can be corrected (though I understand the V20 has similar issues and is now out 6 months without a software fix....)
Overall I still love the phone and the wide angle is AMAZING when it is bright outside, so I'm just relying on my wife's S7 to handle the low light and fast motion pictures for now. If you don't have a second camera option though, I might be hesitant to buy the G6 until more testing is done and a solution is found to the blurry issue.
I had G6 for few days and i wasnt totally happy with it first but its coming around and few changes in settings are making it feel more snappy.
First thing, the phone feels great in hand and screen is top notch. Coming from LG G3, phone feels smaller and easier to hold. Also, i really like the notification and ringer sounds from LG.
Out of the box, G6 didnt feel any faster than LG G3 at first but few settings in debug option(turned off animation) and battery optimization ignore options, its feels like a new phone.
I'll have to see how much battery usage will suffer from these changes but it looks like LG G6 is in battery optimization mode as default. I've turned on "ignore battery save optimization" for chrome and camera, and other apps i normally use everyday. I can notice ES file explorer opening faster and camera auto zoom reacting slightly faster now.
Not worth it

yeah I can concur with the bad camera, just recieved my G6 from ATT today, and it only lasted 3 hours, I have been using a IPhone 7 plus for almost for week after not using IOS for 6 years and I loved the feel and the screen but the rear camera and the front camera suck, the Note 5 I had took better pics and selfies by huge margin, so I had to take the G6 back, if it took the pics like my old note 5 did I would have kept it, but I take lot of pics and i want something that takes crisp pics, so maybe S8 might be in my future :good:

There is software update scheduled for April 7th -Tmobile. Hopefully some of the camera issues will be addressed.
My V20 didn't take blurry or grainy pictures. I don't know.... I really like this phone but pictures are really important to my wife and I. I don't want to be forced to live in the "your pictures suck!" category.

I Had the v10 and v20 before too, and I can`t believe LG would send a flagship out to market and have so many complaint about the camera, I`m with you..... the V20 took a lot better pics.
So I guess, the software update did not fix the blur issue.
The blurry pictures aren't a software issue. The main problem I see is that LG removed laser auto-focus from the G6, so technically the G5/V20 cameras are vastly superior when it comes to focusing on objects (especially when considering macro images). Also, LG chose to over-saturate colors resulting in less color-accurate images, not to mention lower sensor size = lower detail images (16/20MP G5&V20 vs 12MP G6). Downgraded cameras aside, the only other big gripes I have with the G6 are no removable battery and that they removed the IR blaster and notification LED. Having the older SOC isn't so bad these days as the SD82x series is still very fast. If I didn't already own the G5 (which I am very happy with for the most part) I might consider the G6, but probably would opt to wait for the V30 instead if it wasn't an urgent situation.

op5 Camera. is it the product or the consumer?

Most of us have had this device for a couple weeks now to play with the camera.
In your personal experience do you think it's the cameras fault/limitations or the user not knowing what they're doing?
I'm far from an expert but the more I use pro mode the better things are coming out for me personally.
It's always better to know what you're doing, But a great camera takes good pictures without being expert...

I personally think the camera isnt as bad as people are saying it is. With more software improvements, specially in the portrait mode, it would be better than what it already is.
PS : The pro mode is definitely good, gives us more power to get the clicks right.

This is incorrect. Even the worlds best camera is useless in the hands of amateur.
I think the camera is definitely above average. I can't say if it's better or worse than other flagships because I have no current ('16-'17) ones on hand to compare against, but the only thing I can complain about is the lack of OIS. Even then, the EIS does a decent job considering I've got pretty shakey hands.

On a phone you don't want to be messing around with pro settings, you want a good point and shoot quick experience. It's not a DSLR. The OP5 doesn't give good point and shoot results.
I'm come from an LG G4 which while admittedly 2 years old had a decent camera. I'm not an expert but I think the point and click experience on the OnePlus 5 is a step up, I'm pleased with it.

It all depends on what you're after. If it's the candid snaps then the quality doesn't really matter. It's all about the moment, not the pixels.
If you want somewhat good point & shoot experience then you'll get a decent point & shoot camera.
If you want to do some more serious photography then you'll get a DSLR.
OP5 is good enough. It's a phone after all, and yet better than some P%S cameras
Personally I'd rather use pro mode if I'd shoot anything else than a candid snaps where the quality is not that important.
Now don't get me wrong, I understand the dissapointment of the OP5 camera not being the miracle that was promised, but comeon, it's a phone.
The OP5 camera isn't that bad, just the low light is not as good as Samsung S7/S8/Pixel etc...

Oneplus 5 w/ Google Camera vs. Stock Galaxy S8+ camera- which is better?

So I currently have a Galaxy S8+, and have been eyeing the OP5, specifically the 8gb variant. Mainly because the battery life on my Galaxy has gotten to be pretty bad, and it's starting to lag/stutter more and more frequently. I know the stock OP5 camera needs some major work, but i was wondering how good the OP5 camera with the Google Camera port is compared to the camera on the GS8+?

Post processing is a joke, in manual mode the OP5 can take excellent shots. Things could get better as soon as Oneplus hires someone with knowledge about photography. For example, in lowlight it will switch to ISO 9600, in manual mode I get a great shot with ISO 800, you can imagine what a picture looks like with ISO 9600...

does your v20 lag already? this phone is pretty solid.
Op5 camera is very good, specially for the price. See youtube reviews, they compare the camera with iphone 7+, g6, s8, etc. Imho, this is more than acceptable for a small sensor camera.
on gsmarena, you can see many test.
people on xda *****ing the camera because they must be kind of pissed about the ''clearer photo'' op marketing, and at the end, the camera is not the top one on the market.
I personally think the camera can hold its own against the other phones. Especially in manual mode. I do a lot of sunset pictures and they comes out good. However, I think if TouchWiz was more bearable, and if it was easily rootable (I use a lot of apps that requires root) I'd have gotten a s8 instead.
I prevously had the S8+, I now have 8gb oneplus 5, camera quality is about the without any noticeable difference, plus you get the portrait mode. Battery life is better, ram management is better, speed is better, only thing i miss the the bezzeless display.
