Hi, i have magisk root from asf3 firmware. What are the steps to upgrade to asg8? Anyone tried it? Thanks
Note: OEM unlocking @ settings>developer options> is not greyed out. Is it normal? Ok?
Can I flash immediately via odin? BL CP CSC is required? I have already patched AP via magisk from firmware from asf3.
Do i still need to wipe data via recovery after flashing?
Thanks in advance.
Yes, magisk patch the new firmware. Load it in odin, patched AP BL,CP, and Home csc. No need to wipe for updating new firnware. Only wipe if you installing TWRP for the first time

Hi guys
Just got a brand new, G935F S7, would like to root and install custom recovery to install the dream S8 Port.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/root-proton-x-1-0-t3497772
I looked around, but found a few different versions of recovery and rooting options.
Is there a link i can jump to for the easiest, less risk way?
I have SM-G935F (Black Onix) and i have TWRP+Root and Custom ROM
Download:
TWRP -> Twrp-3.0.2-4-hero2lte.img.tar
Odin -> Odin
1. activate developer mode on the current system and turn on the option 'enable OEM
2. reboot phone mode to 'download mode' and flash using Odin (position AP) TWRP recovery [ATTENTION you must turn off autoreboot options in odin and after flash manually reboot the phone into recovery mode]
3. You can flash SuperSU or if you want custom rom with root:
3.1 go to options and select wipe data format - write "yes" then after finishing wipe necessarily restart phone to recovery mode [ATTENTION this operation will clear the memory of the phone without touching the data contained on the ex-scdard]
3.2 flash in the recovery file no-verity-opt-encrypt-2.2.zip
3.3 reboot phone to recovery mode
3.4 Flash your favorite rom and wait for boot up I recommend Ambasadii ROM..
Have a good day

SOLVED
I had try again with, and i can has normally,
1. Pres Vol -, Power and home 7second,
2. System will boot odin,
3. Install Stock Firmware,
4. Switch on Developer Mode & OEM Unlocking
5. Download FRP unlock bypass APK
6. Restart the phone,
7. Now you can Install Costum Again
Thank You,,,,
I have a bricked S7 edge with data I need to recover - the factory software update failed.
I can get to download mode and recovery mode (wipe cache etc.) but the phone will not boot.
My first thought was to root and install TWRP so I could access the phones storage over USB, but I dont have the OEM unlock option enabled.
Do I have any other options?
I think the only solution is flash with odin
Flash it with odin
But....
When flashing choose CSC
not home csc
Are you sure I should flash CSC? doesnt that wipe all the data?
Home_CSC: Flash the firmware without wiping the data (if you just want to update the ROM)
CSC: Flash the firmware along with a complete wipe including data (mostly used in cases like bricked phones or Go-Back-To-Stock situations)
I tried to flash Home_CSC but it still wont boot.
It rebooted and "Installing System Update"
then "no command" with yellow exclamation mark.
Is it possible to enable OEM unlock from ADB? Or any other way without booting?
If I can flash TWRP I can download pictures etc. over USB. Then perform a full factory reset.

I tried that before but it doesn't work for me. my problem is after flashing, the phone is not able to initialize and boot. it keeps restarting, whether I flash only AP or all 4 of them, it passes and flashes successfully but then gets into endless rebooting....
Uhm if you have Twrp installed it actually activates MTP while inside it, so you can just grab your files from your computer
Edit : oh so you don't have twrp yet, sorry nvm im drunk

Download the latest firmware from sammobile for your model and put all files in odin. Use home csc if you don't want to wipe date. Should work without any probs.
Someone tell me how to install twrp with or without unlocking the bootloader :crying::crying:
My phone won't stop restarting even after flashing frimware and I can't enable OEM option
I need to flash no verity opt encrypt with twrp to fix this :crying:
Quick question. I have a G935 on Android 7.0 rooted with twrp installed. Now I want to format it and go to 8.0 and then root it again. What are the right steps to avoid getting into bootloop or any other bad situations?
Download a custom rom from the forum for s7 and specify the country code for country specific changes.
Or just use odin and flash ap cp and bl for your version of phone.
None of the custom roms change your recovery just flash magisk in twrp for root.

So if I:
1) Download latest oreo from updato.com
2) Flash it over 7.0 as it is
3) Then without letting it boot in I go to twrp and do a "Format Data" from the wipe menu
4) Normal boot in menu
5) Reboot to twrp and flash supersu or magisk, will everything go ok?

You wipe data before flashing the Android OS.
You may wipe all data before flashing oreo but you don't have to wipe external SD or internal storage these two have no effect on Android.
The steps are long but this is a guide to truly get the stock firmware on your phone with nothing custom.
If you don't want to have slow download speeds basically you download the firmware package zip directly from samsung.
you may use samfirm application from the xda forums.
Just specify the 3 letter country code and phone model SM-G935F
Next boot your phone into download mode by restarting and holding power volume down and home button.
Then continue to odin download mode.
Download odin 3.13 because it is the only version that works with oreo.
Slot the ap cp bl and csc in the appropriate browse menus and click each of the check boxes to toggle flashing. Then click start to begin flashing the firmware.
The updato zip files have 5 files in them which are
BL the blue screen before odin mode.
CP it's the modem used for data and wifi
Ap it's huge its the Android os.
Csc it's the country code for your phone stuff like shutter sound in camera special apps. Will erase all data like the phone is factory reset.
Userdata csc keeps user data when flashing a csc not factory reset.
You only select Userdatacsc or csc for the csc not both.
If you want root then flash magisk or supersu in twrp after the Android os is installed.
Much easier if you use Civz or Galaxy project because all you have to do is install a zip file in twrp then select install options from a menu. They even have root available from these menus.

My advice would be to backup your contacts and sms with apps then restore them once your in oreo.
1. Backup sms and contacts using playstore apps.
2. Boot twrp Go to wipe menu advanced wipe and select all except internal storage and external media SD. Then wipe.
3. Go to install menu in twrp and install the CIVZ zip file select options from the installer you may choose your root version type during install.
4. Once your Android OS is stable and installed then you restore your contacts and sms using playstore apps.
Finally you also must update your modem and bootloader because they are oreo optimized (if u don't u will get battery drain) which are available for download latest is ERG2
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=271397
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=271403
Boot into download mode by restarting and holding power home and vol down then hit OK to go into odin download mode.
Plug ur phone into computer with USB.
Open Odin 3.13 on your computer and tick the boxes for bl and cp and browse to select both ur bl and cp for oreo hit start to flash and your phone should auto reboot with the oreo bootloader and modem.

You just need to start over and ODIN install the 4 images (BL, AP, CP, CSC). that will get your phone back in order (It will WIPE it as well), then follow the rest of the guide and you will have TWRP working.

When flashing TWRP you have to boot straight Into recovery ( twrp ) and not into the system otherwise twrp will not install properly.
Note: In Odin under options un-tick auto reboot. You can reboot manually.
Follow this guide to flash twrp

can i dirty flash samsung original firmware via odin while keeping my files, apps and settings and reflash twrp and magisk afterwards?
Assuming that the oem unlock switch is activated before the update of course

Download your firmware. When you extract the downloaded file there will be 2 CSC:s files.
CSC - will wipe your phone
Home_CSC - will keep your data
Flash with Odin all files using Home_CSC.
Inportant Note: Backup first.
If you are having issues with using the Home_CSC try from recovery clear cache/davlik or you will have to factory reset or reflash using the CSC file.
You will have to reinstall trwp and magisk.
OEM lock has no bearing when flashing stock firmware.
