When I initially hooked up a Dex compatible USB-C to HDMI adapter for the first time to my 9+, I was greeted with screen scaling options in Dex. This was at home hooked up a 4k TV. I didnt have any need to change the scaling settings since it was full screen at default so I closed out of that.
I am now at work trying to use Dex on another HDTV device, and the scaling is off. All I would like to do is get the option for the scaling settings again. I cant seem to trigger that again after the initial use of Dex. Is there a way to trigger that to adjust the scaling on this other display?
Any assistance much appreciated.

Using my Acer A500 whenever I connect it using the Micro HDMI it does appear on the screen but it seems to have part of the screen cut off. The status bar on the bottom of the screen and then about the same space on the top and sides.
Is there anything you can get for a root ICS tablet to change the output?
Could it be the cable I am using a 10ft cable?
Or this just what it looks like does the whole screen just never fit.
The TV is a 37 inch HD ready Beko
It outputs at 720p. Does your TV support that resolution?? I have had none of the problems your describing while using the HDMI out.

It does support it as my Xbox output is 720p and when the tablet is connected it says on the tv its output is 720P 60HZ.
any other ideas?
I have the same issue butnot with my TV. My TV will show the entire screen but when I plug into a projector it cuts off part of the screen. I would not think the HDMI out is device dependent but it is certainly looking like it.
Not sure if you checked this, but this happened to me yesterday. What had happened was that the zooming on the TV was causing the problem. It was on 16:9, and cut off some parts. Went through the zooming options until I found one that showed the entire screen (can't remember what it was called).

on a,LG,phillips its original zise a samsung: full screen
Im having the same issue as well, 37" Panasonic LCD. Its fully capable of 1080p as well as 720. I remember connecting my motorola atrix and droid bionic to the TV and both those phones have an HDMI setting --> Overscan setting that you adjust using a slider. With those 2 phones however they problem wasn't the screen getting cut off, it was too small, and adjusting the overscan as high as it could go made the output from the phone fit the tv PERFECTLY.
In our instance, we would need that same overscan slider, and to turn it down. BTW: that setting on the phone was set in the middle by default (say at 50%), so the phone would need it adjusted to 100%, where as our tablet would need it at 0 or near zero...
Hey, guys. I just ordered the "official" Samsung MHL 2.0 cable for my S4. However, on my 65" Panasonic VT50, the output is slightly larger than the TV screen, meaning part of the display is cut off on all 4 sides.
I tried every picture scaling setting available on my TV (4:3, Full, Auto, etc.), and I don't have a scaling option that fits the output to the screen. Is there anything I might have missed? Maybe an Android setting or something?
Any ideas?
Anything at all?
My I dropped my S7 edge and cracked the screen so that half of the screen kind of works but the touch does not work. I can see the lockscreen but if I connect a mouse I see a pointer for a fraction of a section then the screen goes dark. Maybe the lockscreen disables it.
But what are the best way to install some app on it to be able to remotley control it from a computer without using the touch?
If I get control of the phone can I use a chromecast to cast the screen to an external screen or are there any other aletrnatives as I read that there are none MHL support any longer.
And what could you use it for ? maybee some sort of Tasker "server",
crappy game console if you could cast the screen to a chromecast connected tv and add a bluetooth controller.?
What other scenarios could you use it for?
I know this is old but I'm at this part with a Samsung Galaxy s7 I have. The screens on these phones just are to fragile. I didn't even drop it and the back got so hot the glass broke on the back with not dropping it. Then next thing I know it the screen and lcd are all gone crazy on the front. I already Samsung backed up.
I'm wondering if there is a way to use ABD to push a set up so that I can use the phone connected to the chromecast or something where I can see it on my smart TV. So I guess is there an app to upload adb and a certain way to allow the Bluetooth keyboard to connect to take control. This is a really interesting way to find ways to have fun... Just thought it would be worth figuring out so people who are stuck with broken screens can maybe use the android as a backup drive on the computer ext...
I know that anything is possible. I don't really like to say that there is no way because there is a way to do anything if we put are minds to it. . But I don't know enough about it to making calls like that. I hope someone can at least figure out so we can use Bluetooth and wireless to get a working screen on the device in its altered state.

I really want to chromecast op5 screen while its own screen is off. I got a USB c to female usb a adapter so i could connect keyboard and mouse and stuff. I've searched for 2 hours to somehow screen off (or brightness zero) my screen while I mirror the android screen but there is no such app or guide! just got p where people *****es their screen is brightness zero, not useful. (outdated screen brightness zero app on playstore don't work so pls don't bring that app here)
Not tried this. Just an idea that popped into my head.
If you somehow can get tasker to know you're casting you could use pixel filter app and set it to 100%. Your screen would be pitch black then.
That's not how Chromecast works unfortunately. It either does screen mirroring (where it displays exactly what your phone screen does), or receives a link (such as a YouTube video) to play it directly.
Basically it sounds like you're wanting something like Samsung's DeX docking station, but even that isn't wireless. There's no similar option for the OP5

I have a Samsung Q8F 55 inch TV that I have been using with a FS 4K and no problems. Just purchased a new FS 4K Max and the screen now has permanent light gray parallel/horizontal lines (approx. 1/16 inch apart from top to bottom. Have reset TV and FS, used alternate HDMI plug, used the FS with and without the extender. FS feels somewhat loose when plugged directly in HDMI port, extender feels slightly more secure. Neither feels as secure as previous 4K. No damage done to TV or any previous issues. Reordered a second 4K to see if the "Max" is the issue. Any thoughts based on experience with a similar issue? Thanks in advance
Hi there
Maybe switch from auto to the highest manual resolution in the fireTV display settings.
Then search in the TV settings for an option like 'just scan'
