Even though the Moto G6 Plus has hardware support for VoLTE, Lenovo scumbags removed the feature from the stock firmware of my country (Brazilian retail), which is updated to Android 9.0. The stock ROM does have a toggle for turning VoLTE on/off, but it's broken, because when I make a call with 4G on, the "4G" icon turns into an "H+", aka 3G. My carrier where I live supports VoLTE, and it works just fine on my mom's Moto G5 Plus on Android 8.0. Is it possible to re-enable VoLTE on stock ROM with root access, or the only way to get VoLTE support back is flashing a custom ROM that has this feature implemented?
I am from the Netherlands, and I have the same issue... Does anyone have a fix. My moto has bootloader unlocked...
I was mistaken, the G6 Plus does have VoLTE support, what it doesn't is 4.5G/4G+. Go to Phone info menu by typing *#*#4636#*#* , and see if "VoLTE provisioned" toggle is on. Toggle it off and on in case it's already on but you still don't see the 4G icon, which tells that VoLTE is enabled.

I have SM-N910U model of the note 4 and would like to know how I can enable voLTE. I know my phone supports it, but I can't find it anywhere in the settings nor is it active. My carrier has voLTE, but the phone data drops to 2g when I make calls. I would like to know a way to enable voLTE, so the data stays at 4g while on the call.
Or is there a way to add volte to international roms seems like it is only for carrier branded phones
I have the same problem with Galaxy Alpha on the Metro/ Tmobile Network.
LTE drops to 3 G on calls and often kills Data
during and even a minute or so after the call.
Not good for multitasking- this is a Factory Unlocked Alpha NOT a native Tmo / Metro phone .
The 4G LTE Tmo/ Metro Phones always have simultaneous voice and data so you can be on Web while on a call.
I think some have VoLTE and some have dual band simultaneously in the firmware specifically for Tmo.

Yes you are correct. VoLTE service can be enabled only with layer 1 modified kernel/drivers. The hardware itself definitely supports it, but firmware doesn't. Main reason the Samsung decided to disable this feature is because not all carriers in the world use voLTE service and enabling the service on the user end may trigger unstable and disconnection during call. I have contacted Samsung by Twitter and have yet to receive a response if they are going to enable this feature or not. Will let you know if I hear anything back from them!
Thanks. I wonder if some Dev here can do it for $ 100 .
Really like the size, speed and great Audio quality of Alpha and was going to get the larger Battery but I often can not get back on Internet for a few minutes after a call-
while the Phone says 3G (?) then it goes back to LTE and back to Internet...frustrating .
Am used to Metro PCS VoLTE since 2012 and had not considered this problem with a Factory Unlocked non Carrier Device.
No one reminded me there would be no VoLTE and sometimes no voice and Data simultaneously...
So DEVs figure it out for me and I will have a Tech here do the Install/ Download.
Alternative will be a too big branded S6 either Tmo or Metro which will have a better Camera, even slightly better than Note 4 but I love the small form factor of Alpha- this is Alpha 850 M.
Don't think Samsung will help although there is rumored to be VoLTE with Lollipop so there's a possibility.
Will Lollipop VoLTE perform like a Branded Metro PCS with LTE remaining on Display during calls and simultaneous Internet ?
Anyone have a Beta Lollipop for Alpha that achieves this ?
Thanks.
Hi there!
I have a Zopo Speed 8 phone and it has occasionally started to act like this:
I try to call someone and the phone tries to change 4G/LTE network to 3G network. Suddenly the network will be dropped during the transition and the phone call stops. It doesn't happen each'n'every time but nevertheless it's annoying.
I asked the manufacturer whether their phone would support VoLTE. They told me they're sorry but the phone doesn't support VoLTE.
I've seen the patches which can be flashed to Xiaomi etc. devices to enable VoLTE. Therefore I'd like to ask whether there'd be any universal patch for Mediatek Marshmallow devices which would enable VoLTE? Thus my phone calls wouldn't be interrupted because the phone lost its network during the transition from 4G to 3G.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Just wondering whether anyone has managed to get VoLTE working with the Axon 7 on Telstra in Australia. Stock or LOS Rom? Cheers
SD820 SoC supports it but seeing that Australia is still so minutes and data sepparated with calls, maybe not really wise to use it here yet. There's no selections to enable/disable VoLTE in settings in stock ROM. Might be able to access hidden system settings in an engineering mode through the dialler though.
I have my personal Aldi SIM (runs off Telstra network) and work Telstra SIM in my Axon 7 but decided to leave VoLTE as a curiosity for now. Both SIMs show as 4G+ in statusbar. I suspect that means carrier aggregation.

4G+ is just faster than 4G, but many people report that they need to be very close to a cell tower to receive it.
That's literally everything I know lol

There is an option in settings to enable or disable it on stock ROM ,or is this different?
And Axon7 doesn't have 2CA or more so it can't aggregate 2 bands together, although it shows 4g+.

Yea I really want the VoWifi feature, due to being in a bit of a blackspot for reception, which can't happen until VoLTE is working. I don't have the option in settings, and I've tried enabling it through the engineering menu but it doesn't stick. I believe they (Telstra) may have it limited to certain devices with specific compatible firmware at this stage.

Thats exactly the menu option I don't have. Are you using A2017G on Telstra?

No I'm using a different carrier and that option is in the settings and I've got A2017.
Also I could never use VoLTE , because my provider has enabled for certain devices.
But I see in Network Cell Info app that it says this device doesn't have VoLTE capability.
The option doesn't exist in my ROM. Australian ROM and assuming the option is missing for good reason.

Is that the Nougat B04 firmware? I think the first version for A2017G to have VoLTE at all is the new German B08 firmware.
Yes, B04, waiting to see if ZTE give us Oreo but not expecting it now. Looks like they may not do an Axon 8, releasing fads like the foldable phone instead. This may be the first and only ZTE I ever own.

I'm at Jenolan Caves right now for my wedding anniversary. All we get is 3G here so VoLTE would be useless. I'm not modding anything to enable it as I think it would actually compromise my phone's performance in Australia because I do turn off cellular data and rely on wifi frequently, like at work or home.
I'm not convinced the Axon 7 doesn't have VoLTE, I think it's just not enabled by the software.
I was sure I had seen something about 4G+ and here is copy paste from it.
"LTE-A/4G+ is actually an amalgamation of several different technologies. The biggest of these is called “carrier aggregation.” It’s kind of a misnomer, as it has nothing to do with aggregating wireless carriers. What it does, in a very simplified form, is allow your device to send and receive data from two different frequencies (known as bands) at the same time, which translates to faster speeds."
I also entered a sort of engineer mode through the dialler and screenshot it with it scrolled a bit to hide my IMEI. The phone shows VoLTE amongst other things and mentions not provisioned so seems to me software switch and carrier support but the phone would do it if the carrier allowed.
@ sirizak, I am sorry that there is no FM for A2017G in your country.
Hi there.
since the officiel oreo update I have no more VoLTE (HD) capabilities and the setting option is gone. The search finds it but when I select "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode" from the search I get to the cellular network settings where I do not see this option. Any Ideas?
Regards
its enabled by default ,i got HD icon on status bar for airtel 4G

Maybe be they disabled some of the frequency bands which your network is using.
I also need this Option back, my provider doesn't support SMS on Enhanced 4G LTE Mode. So I have to manually switch back to 3G to receive a planned SMS and then back to 4G... Is there a way to somehow unhide this option, because it looks like it is available in the settings when you search for it, but if you click on it you only end up on the mobile network page.
I have this option.

Don't see this option anymore. Maybe my carrier does no longer support VoLTE on my MIA1 or the oreo update broke the support. Anyone out there in Germany with a VoLTE enabled plan where VoLTE still works on this device?

Me not, and I also don't see any HD Icon on the status bar. Can only say that SMS was working before when I switched off the Enhanced LTE stuff and now it's not working anymore.

How can i see which bands is my phone using ?
hi, it happened also in Indonesia, my HD logo dissapear, now I cannot use sms or data call without volte apps.
tried to re-flash 7.8.23 still the same, seems IMS has been blocked.
For me to... In Network setting this option is not on the list. But it shows in searching settings and after I select its not om the list...
I have the same issue on O2 Carrier Germany. SIM card is not provisioned for VoLTE but it works when used on a Galaxy J5 2017
As soon i put it in my Mi A1 upon calling there is a fallback from 4G to 3G
I also have a Vodafone SIM which is provisioned for VoLTE and in this way the option Enhanced LTE appears but has no effect because when performing a call there is again a fallback from 4G to 3G
I have now Oreo + January patch and still it does not work
Also HD voice is not working. When performing a call from my phone no HD is seen on the other endpoint and no notifaction on mine
If i get a HD voice call from another phone connection is established and quality is good but no indication on Mi A1 that it is a HD voice call

Same here for Telekom(Germany) with VoLTE enabled SIM. With Android N I got the HD Symbol and VoLTE was working within Telekom calls. With the Oreo Update that feature is gone. Regarding HDVoice (AMS-WBR): That works well for me too but I believe the HD Symbol is only shown if VoLTE is being successfully negociated between the phone and the carrier (?)
from MIUI forum, about ours issue...
At the moment VOLte is disabled in the device, in the future, after correcting more important errors, this function will be turned on at the software level
True or not I don't know..
EE support tell me,they do not support HD Voice and VoLTE on Mi A1 maybe in the near future .. BUT I saw this icon before the update and the choice was in the settings!
OMG. Im flash back clear Android 7.1.2 (7.12.19) and VoLTE ON !!!

could you point me to the exact same firmware version you have been using? that was successful?
I read a O2 German user reported VoLTE works on a October 2017 Nougat version but he didn't mention the exact version.
Hey! To get VoLTE again, you have to type *#*#86583#*#* (or *#*#VOLTE#*#*).
Hi,
I recently went from HavocOS to RR 6.1 on my Moto G4 (U.S.), but I cannot get 4G/LTE to come up. I live in a major city with LTE, and I am on Ting (Sprint) network, so CDMA. I have spent hours researching this. Tried the *#*#4636#*#* tricks, toggling airplane mode, toggling data, and so on, to no avail. Is there some way to get this to work or do I just need to go back to stock Nougat?
