Cell Standby Battery Drain

I have the international unlocked exynos variant of the Galaxy s7 Edge running on AT&T in the U.S. I am also running the Renovate Release 1 ROM. Every time I check my battery usage, it reports cell standby has used the most of my battery, with screen coming in second place with much lower battery consumption. Is there any steps I can take to reduce this consumption?? Thanks

If you don't use your phone much then Cell Standby will be #1.

I really use my phone a lot during the day though. I seem to get battery drain of about 4% per hour when my phone isn't being used. I have no rogue apps ruining in the background or anything and "cell standby" always seems to be the only major battery drainer.

I have basically the same issue. I loose 2-4% per hour when not using the phone. AOD is running, so I know I will loose some battery life, but the cell standby is 45% , android 20% and google 17%. I have turned off most of the google stuff, so I will monitor that...I do have my phone on 4g, so I know it will eat more battery.....I still do get at least 26 hours out of a full charge

It's funny because I have AOD turned off at all times... I don't get what is wrong. I mean the battery life is still much better than most any other phone for me but it could be even better.

I'm also running the same rom and having cell standby drain, it's in second with 20%

I usually have strong signal in most areas, but there are areas I have spotty signal. However, at work my phone gets great reception but I will pick it up after idle for many hours and have loads of cell standby drain. Is there an issue with VoLTE or something since ATT versions give an option to turn it off, but international models do not?

I would doubt itd issues with volte since the exynos simply doesn't have it, maybe your missing some LTE bands in your area, did u have this issue when u were on stock ROM? I'm curious myself because the main reason I didn't go with international version was concern for signal strength/cell drain, I use to have a international z4 andy reception was always worse than my wife's att phone
Fixed Cell Standby battery drain on my ATT S7.
Settings, connections, mobile networks, mobile data
Disable enhanced LTE services, then restart.
I was seeing 31% battery drain from Cell Services. When heavily using other apps.
Much much better now.
My problem stared when ATT pushed the WiFi calling update Aug. q, 2016

Can't believe this is the only recent posting about this problem. I have a Galaxy 5 and since the last update, the Cell Standby problem has made my phone practically useless. I read older posts about this problem, and this previous post solved it. I called AT&T and asked about it, but they had no clue. Thanks for the tip...it worked. Cell Standby doesn't even appear on the battery page after having the phone on for 6 hours.
I was having the same issue. When AT&T had that Wi-Fi calling update, my battery was pretty much draining form then on. SMH, they better fix this issue.

huawei p10 lite firmware and eccessive battery drain

Hello I don't know where to ask this, have you notice that the battery 's percentage of this model quickly goes down? I noticed my mobile have excessive consume of battery. I disabled all the background apps anything. the problem I read, depends from firmware. My latest version is B193 {WAS-LX1A}... there's any possibility that the next firmware update they will solve this battery excessive consume? the battery is really a weak point... My old Samsung j5 was much more better.. this huawei p10 lite drain battery in few minutes from 90% to 85%.. in a couple of hours is already at 50% or even less...

NEW device battery okay?

So, I just bought the note from and it loses about 5%/20min . Is this normal?

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Oppo Reno 2's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
mine is dropping at virtually 1% per hour over night. went from 100% to 91% in 8 hours of standby last night. Cant say ive been impressed with the battery on this phone in the few weeks ive had it. my pixel 2xl has the exact same apps on and drops about 3% over an 8 hour period at night time.
What kind of sorcery is this?
I set up a Reno 2 (EU/Germany) on ColorOS 7 / Android 10 last week and it has the most amazing battery / standby drain I have ever seen.
Admittedly, I hardly use it... but right now I am looking at 4 days, 5 hours, 26 Minutes (101 hours!!!) Standby, 2 hours 57 Minutes SOT (Reddit and Youtube), have made approximately 30 Minutes of Phone calls and still have 31% remaining!
Is the SD730g such a weapon? I thought my Huawei P20 Pro was amazing with 1-2 days of use, but this blows everything away.
This is with Dual Sim and LTE on Sim1 and 3G on Sim 2.
Curious to find out how long it'll last overall.
To put it in perspective, I still have an Exynos Samsung S20+ 5G here which I am looking to sell (among other reasons) because it lasted 18 hours with that use.
....and I won't keep the Oppo either, because it doesn't support native call recording (disabled for the EU) :crying: ; so I have no reason to make things up about it. but I feel like there's a prank going on and someone sneakily charges it while I sleep.

How'd you manage to get ColorOS 7 on it?
I've also got the EU(Germany) version but am not getting the update.
Thanks in advance

using a vpn, you show that you are connecting from another country where the coloros 7 has already been released by oppo, I did it from Spain, and you are looking for the update.

I'm afraid "just wait" is my answer. I attempted the VPN Route (via Switzerland and Spain) and was offered Version C26, but that always failed to install. One day I was offered Version C28, without VPN, which installed just fine.

Latest OTA introduced some bug. I tried fixing it with wiping cache, it does not help. Others tried wiping whole phone, does not help either. Just gotta wait for Samsung to fix it...
I think disabling location scanning with wifi and bluetooth fixed the drain for me.
Did all the battery saving tweaks available on my regular Exynos S21 (including location scanning with WiFi + Bt), but I'm still experiencing from 3-3.5% idle battery drain. I'm seriously considering a return but have only two remaining days to decide.

Experiencing the same.. After February patch the idle drain on mobile data is crazy high. Losing around 6-7% per hour in idle.
5-6% is premium... once i plug off the device from charger in around 5 hours standby (no wifi, 4g, nfc, bt active) 20% battery drain... this is crazy..
Sorry everyone, I did not fix anything. It seemed like this for me yesterday but it went to s*** at night. It's faulty OTA and Samsung is apparently aware of the issue. We have to wait for the update unfortunately... Nice QA

What for if I may ask? I'm basically using it with wifi all the time and VoWIFI so not sure it even uses mobile atm, bluetooth off as well. Still draining
Hi everyone. I don't think I have the same issue you say after february update. What I have realised is that DQA service, that you can see in System apps, takes more than 100% of battery used since last full charge. I usually plug the charger when the phone is around 20% and I stop it when its about 80%, so I wonder if that service is adding % because it needs to count since the very beggining of battery %, I mean, 100%.
Edited: I left the phone in plane mode last night at 10:30 with 80% till 6:30 this morning, having changed to 78%, so it's a normal drain of battery, I think.
I´ll try this weekend with carrier range on in 2G and will comment.
today there was new update for s21 series. let's see what happens with it.
Installed today's new update and it seems to have sorted the drain.
Let's see how it goes overnight and a full day tomorrow.
In what country is the update available?
Installed package disabler and naptime. Will let you know bit if made difference

ADB AppControl > If so, can you post what apps you disabled from Safe or Basic ?
Any other tweaks ?
For those who read XDA from Spain, the second February update to solve battery drain while using 4G has already been released today in that county.
This video was useful for two S21 settings and setups for me
Hello folks, I got my first Samsung phone (S21 5G Exynos) around mid of Februar. The Phone installed the latest Firmware/Software (AUB8) without problems. What really chocked me was the drastic power drain during standby in the nights. Overnight in standby, always about 30% (!) battery drain. Regardless whatever settings, powersavings etc. That's about 3% per hour loss (in standby!), absolute crazy.
Yesterday I found somebody in the QXDA forum that suggested:
TURN OFF the VoLTE ==== Bingo!!!
I have now only around 5% loss during the night in standy (5G activated, power saving turned off)
Thank's a lot for the help through this forum.
I hope Samsung brings an update with optimized lower VoLTE power usage.
hello
Thanls @Mickepilot for the tips
Personnaly i put my S21 in airplane mode all the nighty and i loss 1 % for 7 hour, it's really correct and i don't for call during my sleep )
Unfortunately, Samsung did NOT fix the standby drain issue with ACTIVATED "VoLTE" in the new "AUBB" update. The battery still drains about 3% per hour with "VoLTE" selected ON.
However, with "VoLTE" switched OFF, I get only about 0.5% drain per hour. Same as before the update.
