hi, just recently rooted my phone after waiting a week to unlock bootloader. In the past week I've been watching Netflix during my commute to work, through downloading on playstore. however, after rooting my phone and flashing EU ROM, Netflix is no longer available in my playstore. (I'm from Singapore) I've used Magisk Hide and ensured that my device is certified on playstore and have passed safetynet. I've even tried downloading apks from Netflix help website, several apks from XDA including the ultra HD and other variants but they either direct me back to playstore with a message saying its not available on this device, or my device is not supported. I'm currently stumped and really would appreciate any help I'll get thanks!
Tldr, netflix used to work, rooted phone with eurom and Magisk, no longer works now, tried apks and playstore certified, passed safetynet and hid netflix on Magisk.

I'm pretty sure it's from rooting your phone. If you are using magisk there should be a option to make your device think it's not rooted
It's from the unlocked bootloader. That's all I have done, still on stock miui and not rooted, and I can no longer access it either.

On my root Nokia 6.0, I had access to Netflix. Maybe by adding the playstore in magisk hide, I don't know if it's possible anymore.

Hello,
Not sure if this is the correct forum to ask, sorry if it isn't.
I've noticed that after the lollipop upgrade I don't have the "smart lock" option in my settings->security. After digging through the www for a while it seems that I don't have the latest Google play services update (which brings the "trusted places" feature).
Is this correct? This is the reason I'm not seeing the "smart lock' feature?
Play store says I have the latest version (I currently have 436, which is NOT the latest version). Why? I got the play services update this morning and yet it's not the latest version. Should I wait a little longer for the update?
Is it safe to update the latest Google play services manually? apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/google-play-services-6-5-87-1599771-446-apk
Thanks in advance.

apk mirror is a site of android police to upload their apk's. i trust them and i installed stuff from there a lot of times. the apk signatures are correct and the apk update correctly to newer versions after the insallation. so it is a matter of trusting the source. i trust them so a lot of other readers.
android police is a serious site. so do your research about the site and decide for yourself if you are willing to trust them or not.
P.S. the reason that you don't have the latest version is that the roll out is usually done within the span of a few days to weeks depending of where you are. so the update will come eventually.

I always prefer to do the update the "regular way", via play store, so according to your advice I think I'll wait a little longer for the update.

Well, in my case it's just a cool new feature I want to try out. I'll give it a few more days and if it won't come on it's own then I'll update it manually.
It's basically just getting the apk and running it (wherever it's located), correct?

you download the apk on your phone and install it like any other app. it is called side loading. there is an option under settings/security to allow you install apps outside the play store if you haven't done it already you must unclick it.

For the Nexus 4 (with Lollipop), I believe this is the version you want from apk mirror:
Google Play services 6.5.87 (1599771-436)
Edit: the notes section on apk mirror explains the version naming/numbering for the Play Services apks. The last three digits indicate which version of Play Services is right for your device.
I was notified immediately after upgrading to L that my Google Services are outdated and I was redirected to Play Store before even could get to home screen. Maybe it only happens after standard OTA...?

It's perfectly safe, as it is the exact same version you will recieve from play store.
I'm not sure what the problem is anymore.
I looked at a friend's Nexus 4 that was also updated with Lollipop and he has the same Google play services build as me and he still gets the 'smart lock' option.
Could it be something with the settings on my phone? Maybe I need to do something in order to enable it? I've already tried enabling a security lock screen but that didn't help.
I hav had the mi 9t for some time and I'm considering installing a custom ROM, EU variant of the ROM or maybe the screen overclock. As it's my first xiaomi device, could someone confirm wether this affects the warranty in any way? Before this phone I've unlocked my every previous phone and haven't had any problems.
Also: do I have to unlock the "official" way by using xiaomi's app or should I just unlock it with adb (fastboot)?
If you don't use Google Pay then I don't see any downside.
Yes I know there is Magisk but it's a cat and mouse game. One day it works, then Google patches it and it will break Google Pay.
In my case I decided to leave it locked because of Google Pay and another Banking App that won't work if I have a rooted phone.
What do you mean "don't use google play"? I've always had google play working on my rooted devices. Or do you mean just services that straight up don't want a rooted phone (banking apps...)?

But it is not a downside of unlocking bootloader. It's a downside of installing EU rom because It's based on Chinese software which has no support for Widevine L1. Unlocking for a root/ some mods / etc. should stay L1.

No. You have L1 on official global and eea_global. Unlocked BL and root doesn't matter. You can always flash one of them to get widevine L1 back. All other roms based on official china (xiaomi.eu mi-globe and so on) are not certified for L1.
And btw: You can't install Netflix because of unlocked BL, no matter which rom. Same for some other apps. You can still sideload them but it sucks to check for updates manually.

There is at least one alternative method for Google Pay which is working even if current Magisk version can be detected by Google Pay and GMS: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/magisk-google-pay-gms-17-1-22-pie-t3929950

This is interesting. However like with Magisk a solution like this isn't guaranteed to work forever. One day you could have a full cart of groceries and then look like a dumbass not being able to pay for it because Google Pay decided not to work anymore because Google patched something.

Most of everything is in early development, but I'll just test out a couple of the ROMs, maybe some GSIs and maybe even help out with testing. Otherwise I'll at least install the EU ROM and the 75hz overclock.

I have a Chinese Redmi K20 and I'm trying to decide between official global and xiaomi.eu roms. (just waiting for bootloader unlock)
Sounds like Netflix is out whatever - I can live with sideloading.
Google Pay would be nice but as discussed, cat and mouse game that's arguably not worth it.
So what does L1 bring me? I'd like my UK banking apps to work and want Google safetynet passed as having in-app purchase issues with chinese rom.
Will official Global/Euro rom give me that?

Global: Yes. It will. It will also give you L1. If your BL is unlocked your banking app may disappear from playstore -> sideload, hide with magisk
EU (based on chinese): Same as above but without L1.
You can sideload Netflix on any of them, but those with L1 will stream in HD/UHD. Same for all other streaming platforms (e.g Amazon) which use DRM.
I'm getting, "Your device isn't compatible with this version" error when I try to install it on my phone.
I'm still on 8.1 due to some Xposed modules not being updated for 9.0.
Disney+ support states that they have installs blocked unless you're on the latest version of your ROM... is this true?

Honestly, this is the first time an app has been incompatible with my device.
I've also got the play store and playstore services enabled for Magisk Hide.
Wasn't too comfortable with installing the APKpure app as the site requires it now, but after doing some digging it seems like they're trustworthy enough.
Once I had that, installing the latest Disney+ version went flawlessly.
So thank you for the encouragement!
Makes me think that the CS rep was right and they put a condition that only devices on their latest android version are allowed to install it from Google Play.

If unlocked your bootloader your device becomes uncertified by Google. Which means you can install or even update the Netflix app that came pre installed.you can check this at play store settings then scroll down.

I ment stock miui, in Xiaomi EU or any other ROM they trick the system so it behaves as if it's locked, you can see this when you connect you device to the miui debloating tool. You can see that it will say your device is locked but it isn't.

Hi, how did you install magisk? I have made a patch file, installed with twrp but no matter what I get a recovery bootloop. Only way past was in twrp to allow permissions on busy box and faulity to 644. This lets me get the root and can get magiskhide but none of he other modules will install and save to the modules menu. MIUI 11
So what is the case here, with the same rom version some phones have widevine L1 and others L3?

We speak about Google Play Certification and not Widevine, that's not related.
Xiaomi.eu 11.0.2 has unfortunately L3 widewine and this can cause problems (maybe)
Ps: but dev version xiaomi.eu 9.11.28 has full support L1 and also the device is certified on google play. if not, there is a "safety patch magisk module" and it changes the fingerprint of the device (it changes as Huawei phone ) and works awesome

I'm also on T-mobile converted Android 10 and ran into the same issue with Netflix not showing up because ctsProfile was false in the SafetyNet check. I installed the "MagiskHide Props Config" module in Magisk, ran it, and configured the fingerprint to be a certified international OnePlus 6t running Android 10. Now my phone passes the SafetyNet check and Netflix shows up.
I'm having a ton of trouble flashing twrp, when I flash the .img it is just stuck at fastboot logo
I've tried the latest .img and the previous .img
Am I doing something wrong? Is it possible on Android 10 or do I have to go back to Android 9 to flash twrp
I ran into that issue as well. I was able to boot into TWRP using the img from this thread. I haven't tried installing it yet though.
