Hard reset password not working - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

I was going to clear my cache this morning but my password at the unlock screen after restarting would not work. It's the same as your screen unlock, right? I had to reset my phone and reload everything. Any ideas why it wouldn't take my password? I know it was the correct one.

These phones don't have a cache partition, so clearing the cache in recovery wouldn't do anything.
In recovery if your lockscreen password does not decrypt your data, you have the wrong recovery installed or it's not up to date. Either way don't clear cache in recovery like you would on devices that have a separate cache partition.

Any time I install a local update, the instructions say to wipe cache. Why is that?

These instructions don't mention that, for any method.

I'll have to eat crow on that one... you are correct. If Funk Wizard says to do it, it should be safe.
I've avoided because I've had odd results, and read not to do it. Doesn't take much to upset these phones.
So I guess then its a question of your exact setup to determine what went wrong. Since you are doing the local update, are you all stock, recovery and all?

No problem. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I am all stock on the international variant. Recently installed Tasker and have been playing with that. Also installed Microsoft Intune for access to work emails. Those 2 things are only changes I can think of that could affect my phone unlocking.

I think I bricked my NS

I was flashing CM7. This is what I did:
Rooted, ClockworkMod v3.0.0.5 from Rom Manager.
From recovery did a BackUp (seems useless because it doesn't do anything.)
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe Cache partition
Install zip from sdcard - selected cm7 - got a Status Error 7
Now the phone won't boot, stays on the Google screen, I can get into the recovery though.
Any ideas? I am downloading the Stock 2.3.3 image.
Thanks!
restore your backup.

I tried doing that from ClockworkMod, gave me an error, it was a ridiculously small file, doesn't seem like a backup.
Even the stock gives me a Status Error 7.
Any ideas?
you didnt brick, just download a a new rom, sounds like it was a bad download.. if the phone shows a screen it isnt bricked...

This is what I get. For both Stock 2.3.3 and CM7. I've tried multiple times.
right did you re download it and copy it back to the phone or just going off the rom you downloaded already? if so worst case shouldnt odin work?

I'm downloading it again. Should I rename it to update.zip? Odin, that's the software right?
I think your problem is because you are using the clockwork mod for I9020, where as for rogers you should be using clockwork for i9023 -- at least this was my case, I have i9020a rogers
you can get it from this link 2nd file.
after using this one you shouldn't be getting "E: can't mount cache" and you shall be able to repeat rooting/flashing steps.

I was feeling so, either the ROM or the recovery. I'm just flashing the recovery, thanks for your help.
Also, how do I manually install ClockworkMod?
What is your computer OS? do you have android sdk?
In general everything you need is in this post

i think that is all of your system data information (downloaded apps, passwords, pics, settings, etc). doing a factory reset/data wipe clear all of that.

hmmm... I was able to make several successful backups of 4.2.2 ROMs.
did you completely uninstall 4.3 and start from fresh? again, I read that some folks had trouble even getting back to stock or 4.2.2 from 4.3.
while I don't think there is an issue with TWRP, I would certainly post your question on that thread.

I would advise to create some nandroids of your fav 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 ROMs.
Ive flashed just about every rom for my M as it is just a play phone(no service lol) even unlocked it for other carriers and ive never had a problem like this. Well now that its fixed time to flash somemore 4.3's

Why can I add a new APN on Nougat?

Title says it all.
I no longer had the "+" on top in Access Point Names to add a new one?
I have a fresh install of Nougat and a factory reset.
Not rooted and bootloader locked.
Anyone else see this problem?
Steve
I don't have that problem. I'm on NRD90U, everything stock. What's your build number?
Same build number as you.
Are you on Verizon?

I can also add APN fine. Same build, AT&T. Can you edit that one?
1. Unlock your bootloader
2. See #1

I was able to add a new APN before Nougat without being bootloader unlocked?
What do you mean by "See #1"?

What I meant is just Unlock your bootloader and leave it that way. You'll be thankful when you run into trouble flashing updates and or custom roms, etc.

I use to flash ROM's all the time.
But I have been happy with stock and use Android Pay all the time and would rather not have to deal with the problems that goes with getting it to work with root.
I may unlock and flash the new Nougat factory imgs as I ADB'd the OTA.
Maybe that has something to do with my problem?
I also installed the Pixel Launcher but I don't see how that come have effected my problem?
You can be on stock without root and still keep an unlocked bootloader.
Unlocked the bootloader and fastboot flashed everything, no joy!
Thinking about giving this a try?
*2767*3855# - Think before you give this code. This code is used for factory format. It'll remove all files and settings including the internal memory storage. It'll also reinstall the phone firmware.
I just looked at my wife's 5X with Nougat is it doesn't have the "+" either on the APN?
Maybe it has something to do with Verizon?
So iirc google now downloads the apns for your carrier on first boot, and I know some carriers lock out apn editing. Not sure if that happens with this device though.

Tab A Rebooting Like Hell.Need Custom Rom

My Tab A Sm-T355Y Is Rebooting Randomly While using. It has developed so it is unusable mostly. Please Develop a Custom ROM.Many other users are also facing the use issue.Downgrading does not solve the issue.
Reflashing the firmware up or down rarely solves crashing issues unless the system partition is corrupted.
Wiping the data partition should be you next call

This is the common issue of Samsung tablet: loose battery cables and no ROM can fix it.
You can use this glue to make it works better without loosing the connection. However, the glue is conductive, make sure wipe clean with alcohol. Otherwise, you will end with overheating due to trace between terminals. It should not have any residues between the top as well. A lousy job will cause overheating or shorted circuit.

You can buy it online from Ebay or Amazon
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Silver-Con...028785&hash=item4d622308f1:g:zFQAAOSwyXNZ5XVn
Or adjust it manually, like this. Squeeze as much as possible
This is not an opinion, I have done many times to fix this problem of rebooting or quick discharge, not only this tablet but others as well.
Unless the mainboard is defective, this solution should fix the reboot issue easily.
