Hello guys, I am at the brink of a mental breakdown because it seems like I bricked my 860€ S10+.
I tried to root it as instructed in wu's guide. I was able to flash the patched ap together with the firmwares other files. But when I rebooted Magisk wasn't installed nor activated. So I tried to reflash everything and I guess I ended up bricking my s10. So I flashed the stock firmware. That worked out.
And now I tried to flash the patched ap again but Odin gets stuck at system.img (upper screen said "DTBO" though) Nothing happens. And Odin does nothing as Task Manager tells me.
So now I tried to flash the stock firmware again and retry everything. But suddenly I can't even do that! Odin gets stuck at recovery.img and then does nothing. Reflashing, wiping data, using different usb ports, 3 different PCs. Nothing helped.
I mean before I was at least able to reflash the stock firmware and now even that doesn't work out. And now I am stuck with a phone that isn't rooted but still has all the disadvantages of a rooted s10 (knox apps etc.)
I don't know what to do anymore. Can anyone please help?
Sounds to me like a similar issue I had. I think your firmware files might be corrupted. I'd recommend re-downloading the latest firmware again from the SamFirm tool and give it another go.
What fixed this issue for me was redownloading odin, reinstalling the usb drivers and then restarting my phone and PC. Then try again, it'll finish the flash. Flash the completely stock firmware though, for some reason it only allowed me to flash the stock firmware and not the magisk one until I had a working phone. Mine would get stuck on the userdata bit.
Restart your pc. Should do the trick, i done it a few times with early release of twrp

hey, thanks for your reply! I tried to flash an older firmware before, that's why I wasn't able to even flash the stock firmware. So now I was able to flash the stock firmware but still when I try to flash the patched ap, whether I try only the patched AP or together with the whole firmware, it still gets stuck at system.img... And I redownloaded odin, reinstalled the USB driver and restarded phone and pc. didn't work...

hey man, thanks for your reply! It seems like I downloaded the wrong firmware earlier. Now I got the right firmware. I was able to flash the stock firmware at least! But still after repatching the correct ap file, odin gets stuck at system.img

Try copying the patched file magisk creates to the sd card (with any file manager) and copy it to your PC with a card reader. If you don't have sd or card reader Google the commands to copy with adb. MPT file transfer might corrupt the file. Also make sure that you fill the rest of the files from the firmware package (BL, User etc) don't flash just with AP. If you didn't fill them before try flashing with all files first, if it still fails try adb or sd card, your file must be corrupt.
How did you convert it to .tar for odin?
Hold down volume down and Bixby button while your phone is off and plug in your cable while it is connected to a computer you should get download mode from there you can re Flash the stock firmware After that if you want to root your phone and have TWRP recovery this is what I did for my s10 plus and It worked flawlessly:
1 make sure bootloader is unlocked
2 if it's not unlocked do a factory reset
3 Set up phone and skip everything
4 Turn developer mode on
5 make sure you have latest firmware so you can extract that AP file
6 Install magisk manager if you dont have it
7 Use magisk to patch AP file by hitting install as if you were going to install it then got to patch file and select AP file and it will start patching and create an file in your download folder
8 Take the new file and copy it to your computer
9 Install odin if you haven't
10 Put the new file in the AP slot in odin and uncheck auto reboot and everything else
11 Turn off phone
12 Hold vol down and bixby and plug in phone to computer to put it in download mode
13 Flash the AP file with odin
14 Once done flashing hold power and vol down till it turns off then quickly hold vol up with power and Bixby to boot to recovery
15 Wipe data and factory reset
16 Then select power off
17 Then like you were going to boot into recovery hold vol up with Bixby and power but once you see the 1st warning screen come back let the buttons go
18 It should boot up you phone like normal but now you have root
19 Now download the TWRP app, find your phone model and download the img file but don't flash it yet
20 Now open magisk and patch the file you just downloaded
21 Now you can flash the file that was just created with the TWRP app
22 You should have TWRP recovery now but to check turn off the phone and boot to recovery with the Bixby, vol up and power buttons then once you are done confirming go to reboot and select power off then boot the phone by holding the buttons like you would to get to recovery but only till the first warning screen comes back then let them go and it should boot back rooted like before
23 If you have any problems try to reboot as I just explained again and if that still doesn't work the device may have encrypted it self so you will have to boot back to recovery and select wipe, format data, type in yes and confirm then go back to wipe option and select factory reset then go to reboot, power off, and hold buttons like booting to recovery then let go when the first warning screen comes back
24 You will need to setup you device again but its unencrypted now...enjoy!!!
Im sure this dude has a crap type c cord. I had the same stoppage at system.img and i just changed my type c to usb.

Odin never worked with any USB 3.0 port. Has to be USB 2.0
Type C is a form of USB 3.0

[SOLVED] Okay so I got my i/o tab back up and working. See this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14586131&postcount=2.
1. I downloaded those 2 things.
2. I booted into odin mode by powering off the device and holding the power and the left volume (volume down) until it brings me to a usb and a triangle sign with an android figure.
3. Press Right volume (volume up) to select the right icon on the screen.
4. Plugin the tab to your computer and load the odin3 v1.85 application.
5. Press PDA and find the PDA_SIGNED_P7105.tar.md5 file
6. Click start and let it reboot and it should be fixed! (well that's what fixed it for me)
So I tried installing the starburst rom on my i/o tab that I won (from phandroid!), anyways I was on an unlocked 3.1 rom that was rooted. So I installed rom manager from the market to get cwm on it. After that I backed up my current rom, and then I flashed the starburst rom.
After the rom finished flashing it rebooted and is now stuck in a bootloop of continually showing the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 splash screen.
I can't get back into cwm at all. I've tried getting it back with odin and with nvflash. Also fastboot isn't working for me (says waiting for devices both on my windows and linux machine). I've tried flashing both stock recovery and cwm via odin and via nvflash but nothing is working.
I'm not really sure where to go from here. I've spent the last 5 hours or so on xda and google. Any help would be appreciated.
The first attached files shows what happens when I select the USB image, the second shows what I get when I hold down the power and down volume, and the third is me flashing cwm through odin, but after flashing it, I still can't get into cwm.
I'm not an expert, but you may want to check the file you are trying to flash as it may be corrupt. Maybe try redownloading and flashing with odin. If that does not work you may need to reflash your firmware, I think there is instructions in the dev form on where to download. Also check if the IO edition is different model from the retail WIFI version.
Hopefully this is helpful,if not I'm sure someone else will chime in.
I checked the md5 of it and it matched. How would I reflash with odin? All I can see that I can flash with odin is the recovery. I don't know how to flash anything on my tab in it's current state. I can't get cwm back, and all I get is fastboot usb mode and odin. Fastboot isn't working and odin says it flashes the cwm recovery correctly and everything, but then it's not there.
Thanks for your input, any input is greatly appreciated. Was hoping to get my tab updated to a touchwiz rom, now I can't even use it.
I had same problem happen with mine out of the blue and it's stock I/O.
Maybe the thing i'm flashing in odin isn't for the I/O tab?

Did you fix it? I had this happen once before but I forget how I was able to get fastboot to work to issue a fastboot -w command.
Okay, so I think I made some progress. I was able to get fastboot working on a fresh computer that never had adb, fastboot, or the android sdk installed. I only have fastboot working on it and not adb. :\
So I tried fastboot flash system stockrom.zip but when rebooting it just shows the
splash screen. (I waited like 10mins). I now do have fastboot working so now what should I do?

which stock rom are you using? are you using the OTA 3.1 that is in the dev thread?
try that and lemme know what happens
also, if you can get into fastboot, you can fastboot recovery, ie get back into CWM and load a backup

I think maybe my partition table is effed up? I'm not sure.
I tried fastboot and flashing the backup that I had on my computer (fastboot flash system system.img ; fastboot flash data data.img ; etc), but it just hangs at the samsung galaxy tab splash logo.
I'm using the ota that comes in the files for dummies in the dev forum.

Simply doing fastboot -w has never worked for me. It would just bootloop. Only way i've been able to restore it is through the steps I listed in this thread.
Hi i am new to the android as i just got my first android phone the s4. i have done resaerch and flashed my phone with this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308663
The flashing of the rom went smooth and everything works exept wifi.. so i want to revert to my stock rom i backed up to get wifi back but i cannot boot in to recovery twrp or cwrm. when i press boot into recovery via goomanger or rom manager it reboots says it is entering recovery but then reboots before it goes into recovery mode and boots into the os. i have tried uninstalling/ reinstalling twrp and cwrm but still nothing. i am desperite to get my wifi back any insight would be great! thanks
Are you familiar with adb commands? In your OS with USB debugging enabled you can issue the command "adb reboot recovery" from the command line and it'll get you there.
That is, if you're familiar with adb commands. Otherwise there is a key combination that will get you there. I'm too new to samsung to remember it but it involves the home button, power and volume key up or down. Search the forum I'm sure it'll be here somewhere

Use the key combo:
Cycle the battery
Hold Vol-Up and Home, then Power
Release Power when it vibrates continuing to hold Vol-Up and Home
If the recovery is truly gone, use Goo Manager to restore TWRP

Thanks for the help but i not to sure about the adb commands and no matter what way i try to reboot into recovery it just restarts into the os after it goes to the samsung screen and says recovery booting in the top left
i have tried that and it says booting reocvery... then restarts it self and reboots into the os i have both twrp and cwm installed. who ever knew trying to restore to stock firmware could be so complicated lol not sure what is going on with my phone. everything works with the rom i installed exept wifi.

Re-download the zip file and check the md5. It could have been a bad download. It happens more than you would think. Then try Odin again.
I installed the 3.0 update and it never removed TWRP, however TWRP is not working. If I flash the zip file for 3.0 it reboots the system in the middle of installing. I tried flashing the cm12 and cm13 zip files and they say they flashed successful but nothing appears to have installed, and I currently have no rom or firmware installed and can't seem to boot to fastboot. Any ideas?
Here is what happens when i flash the 3.0 zip file. https://youtu.be/-ZVnaNdn6-M
I seen the same logo don't know what to do as well. My parent click update while i was away from home when i got back it just the logo with nvidia.
Restore using the recovery images here for your device https://developer.nvidia.com/gameworksdownload using fastboot not twrp.
The way I get to bootloader is pull the power cable, plug back in and hold power immediately until the menu appears YOU MUST HAVE micro usb connected to a pc while doing this.
I'll give it a try. Thank you for the reply
Try this:

Problem solved! i was installing the wrong version of twrp this is the correct version: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/j5xnlte/
I'm using SM-J510H
So I installed samsung drivers.
I even installed ADB and it's drivers (now i have samsung android in the device manager)
I downloaded TWRP for j53gxx:
https://eu.dl.twrp.me/j53gxx/
The .tar for odin (twrp-3.4.0-0-j53gxx.img.tar)
I did the OEM unlock and debugging thing I even got the notification that the computer was trying to access blah blah I did allow always.
Put the phone in download mode (Down + Home + Power)
Press up to enter download mode.
Connect the phone.
Untick reboot in odin.
Use the ap to select the correct file
Start success!
I try to reload into recovery tried so many different ways even the adb command to reboot into recovery. All I get is a little thing on the top left saying warranty bit recovery and then the screen is black.
It doesn't load into the default recovery it just stays black. I need to take the battery to rest...
I tried with adb but when i force it to load up into download mode (adb reboot bootloader)
adb doesn't recognize the phone anymore
I've now downloaded the android ask maybe that will solve things lol but does anyone have any advice please?
Should I consider installing a different recovery? like maybe CWM?
It has a costume rom on i guess it says "Hebrew by daniel mouyal for bt" in the about tab in the settings...
I tried using ADB to install but when it's in download mod it can't find the phone so when i enter the install command:"fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.x.x-xxx.img" it says: "waiting for device"
Well I've been installing the wrong version of twrp lol sry!
So just in case someone else hits the same problem it's not the twrp i posted before but this one:
https://eu.dl.twrp.me/j5xnlte/
When recovery is finished flashing in Odin, remove your battery to turn the device off.
Then put the battery back in and press vol+ and power button and home button at the same time.
Your device should then boot into twrp.
If you reboot before doing this the android operating system will ovewrite twrp with stock recovery and you will have to start the process again
Also you used the wrong twrp. J53gxx is 2015 model j500h and j5xnlte is j510fn not j510h. You must be careful or else you may seriously damage your device.
Use this twrp here for your device j510h

I did in my second post I posted the correct link to the correct version of twrp
I'll edit it so it's more visible
Seems I found a way to semi brick my SM-T500. I was attempting to install the LOS 18.1 ROM just posted in the guide section. Some how I got the "can only install official" error message on my download screen after flashing TWRP. Made the mistake of flashing only the stock AP without BL or CSC and now I can't get into either recovery or download modes. Holding vol up and down and plugging in USB cable does nothing. Same with holding power button and either vol up or down. Blank screen. Can only power on and boot to system.
Did you install twrp and can you get into recovery. I had similar problem but was still able to get into download mode from power off. However to do so I had to boot into twrp and select reboot and power off... from that menu you can also boot directly to download mode... I know that doesnt halp much if you hadnt installed twrp yet... but thought I would throw that out there...

I can't boot TWRP or download. The only thing that will boot is system. Can't even get to the lock/unlock screen.
can you connect to adb shell? and try #reboot download
or #reboot twrp. I figure if you get to download you can reflash stock and start over.
Also when your trying to boot into recovery try not being plugged in. Not sure about this device but a lot of older Samsung's that I had would not let me get into recovery if I was plugged in during boot.

I saw alot of issues with twrp so I tried Magick for first time ever on my SM-T500 and had a minor hiccup bc I wasn't paying attention to firmware and installed an old AP with newer firmware but ended up just reflashing the whole tablet with the same firmware as the AP that is required for Root and presto it worked! AND HEY IM DEF A NEWBIE!

Yeah I've run into the same thing, I originally missed the step to run Magisk after I flashed the patched tar and rebooted into the System and it triggered the "Prenormal KG state" problems. Finally I managed to flash stock ROM back and got to exactly where you are now.
I was able to just flash the patched Magisk AP without CSC and BL, and now it will only go to stock recovery and was able to get TWRP to work once but couldn't factory reset or wipe cache due to (which I assume was) a ton of mounting failures when it loaded.
Anyone else have suggestions to get this thing stable so I can flash LOS? I can get to Download mode.
hello, I post this because it's seems the same subject. I have to password protected (forget password) original rom tablet (non root). For me the datas are not important , I just want to remove the password or reflash with original rom. I downloaded Odin , usb driver and correct firmware. I select AP firmware with Odin, I see the connexion (COM3 green) and it's stuck to "setup connexion".
My problem is that it's impossible to enter in download mode.
When I try to shutdown the tablet, it ask me for a password.
When I press for seconds the power button , after few second I see the Samsung Logo and the tablet restarts.
I try to press volume up, volume up and volume down etc...but each combinaison...no recover, no download mode, nothing and impossible to flash . is it normal ? how to do to unsticked SetupConnetion ?

bruno

This is not the same as my problem. My problem is that I flashed AP without BL and the two don't match. It isn't that things are locked but that I can't boot to anything but system. Can't boot recovery or download so I can't flash ANYTHING. Not even stock.
