Better UI Settings? - Moto G7 Questions & Answers

Ive seen other open source UIs like the current one that we have in the G7 pie and was wondering if there are any open source ones that have more options to it. Mainly right now I am just looking for a better way to organize things (folder in the app drawer) and some other few minor things. I would be nice to get rid of some of the excess bloat with a custom ui too, again if possible.

there are no custom roms except project treble which is too buggy for every day usage. all I can recommend is edxposed with gravitybox. you will need to be rooted and install TWRP first.

no TouchWiz was Samsung's old UI. Motorola uses basically stock Android.

If you like stock then why flash a custom ROM? If you don't like the added functionality that custom ROMs bring then there's no point using them. Use stock rooted and be happy, but don't ask (or, by the tone of your post, demand) devs to create ROMs for you which no one else will use.

That's what all custom ROMs are for the N4, since it runs pure Android. I honestly don't understand what you're trying to say.

Because aosp based rom are full of bugs, issues, force close and unstable ? making my n4 lagging without reason where stock doesn't have ?
But I somehow want an enhanced stock rom I don't know why.
Well maybe I could miss pie control which is the only thing that is useful in a n4 custom rom.

Dunno what you're taking about but I've experienced no lag on my N4 with stock or custom ROMs. I haven't come across a ROM which has any serious bugs or stability issues on the N4. Also, PIE is the only useful feature in your opinion. There are so many other useful features available IMO.

That makes no sense. There are no buggy roms on nexus devices. They're stable because nexus are aosp devices.

[Q] Porting Oxygen OS to Nexus 6P

Would it be possible to port Oxygen OS to the Nexus 6P?
This is a good question.
I was going to ask this also.
I am very interessted to see Oygen OS on 6P. The latest OS looks very good!
2 questions
#1- Why would you want to?
#2- What is missing in stock that OxygenOS has that you want that you can't get with Xposed or one of the 20+ custom ROMs?

Oxygen OS is buggy and there is nothing that appealing which makes it superior to any other custom rom out there for nexus 6p

Not really. "Smoothness" is usually a very controversial topic because of how human psychology works, and you can't compare especially since there are a lot of other factors involved like the SoC, RAM, background apps etc. If you're comparing OxygenOS on the OnePlus 3 to stock on the Nexus 6P then I'm afraid you can't really make an objective decision because the OnePlus 3 has a 1080p screen along with a more powerful SoC. As far as the OnePlus 2 goes, based on personal experience it's not as good as stock on the 6P, but again my experience isn't something anyone can bank on due to above factors.
i doubt it will get alot of support being Proprietary software. i recall it wont be open source in 2015, just the sources for hardware.
like htc sence and touchiz you best buy the phone if you want it.

Nobody EVER ported an ios rom to samsung or any android device !! That roms were customized to look like the ios (they put ios launcher, ios keyboard and the other apps that you can find on the play store)
What stopped them? Well since that its easy to make ur android phone look like any other phone by customization.

Well if they did it back then, it looks like they stopped, or never started it for the S5, so you'll just have to customise it yourself

Get Miui . However it's running on 4.4 Android version.
|your welcome|

where are the custom roms?

I am very tempted by the G6, its design, screen and price are all sweet, though it looks like the custom roms section is nearly dead, why is that?
Is the G6 hard to root?
LG don't open the bootloader to unlock on many models, that's the main issue.

It's 2017. Why are custom ROM's still a thing?
Genuine question. I feel like the standard of the stock firmware these days is good enough to negate the need for a custom ROM, especially if that ROM ruins key features like the camera. Why do people still use custom ROM's?

Customization A-Z of everything on the device vs being able to customize about A-J on the phone and missing out on the rest.

I agree with you to a degree. I almost never use anything but stock based ROMs with the stock kernel.
I mostly root to use Adaway and delete bloatware. That's pretty much the extent of it for me.

S8 Launcher for AOSP

I have seen many devs use the reverse engineered code of some oem launchers and mixed it with some other apps to give the same effect..
Can we use some code and create a launcher based on the code of S8?

I don't think this can work, touchwiz requires touchwiz framework, aosp based Roms do not use that framework. Whether touchwiz can be reverse engineered, not very likely seeing as no one has even attempted it before even though touchwiz has been around a long time now.

Then why don't someone start? I mean, we could port Sony apps right? Sir, I mean that we can use the blurry effect and many other features on our other devices by using these apps.. I think no one ever attempted before because TouchWiz wasn't worth it. But now...

Apps and framework are 2 completely different things, a framework is the underlying structure, an app us just a single entity, it's fat easier to port an app than to port a framework, and plus people move to aosp to get away from manufacturer specific framework like miui and touchwiz, makes no sense to port it.
